First time there and only because we had a gift card. The music was so loud we could not even hear the staff talking to us. I am sure the db level was above safe limits. They told us that was as low as it could be turned down. Even the manager stated that. I feel sorry for the staff that will suffer hearing loss from extended exposure. The water and ice tasted lIke crap. Like drinking dirty pool water. Food was barely ok. I am a born and bread Texan and the food was not up to real Texas standards. We have another gift card that we will use for take out only but will have to wait until we are in Temple during their limited hours of business. Just a few short years ago this was probably one of the best Texas Roadhouses in the entire chain. Driving down from Dallas their semi-burnt out sign proudly proclaimed "Texas Road Ho"... a funny little lack of maintenance from the burnt out "u", "s", "e", neon letters that gave this place some character and helped draw customers in. Great Happy Hours with ice cold beer, lively staff, and a very squared away kitchen. That was then, this is now. Change of ownership a couple of years back has cratered all that was once great here. Have NO clue who operates / owns this restaurant nowadays as I was informed they had a change of leadership a year and some back. Love capitalism as much as the next man but when a proprietor gets greedy then it's time to say adios. Happy hour has now been reduced to only between 4 - 6 PM, at which time they will pop you for $3.25 on a 22 ounce mug. They also consider Shiner and Ziegenbock "imports"... and tack on another $1 / mug for these brews. All beers are north of $4 after this small Happy Hour window ends. The food has also gone way downhill with the quality of meat used and the inconsistent preparation. Salad that came with my dish was wilted and had brown leafs. Steak was chewy and overcooked. There's also been quite a high turnover in the staff in both the restaurant and bar as of late, resulting in very inconsistent service. My advice is to keep driving and get yourself down to Austin or check out the BJ's Pizzeria there in Temple if having to stay local. read more

The worst and most stressful experience I've ever had. We were sat down next to a Hispanic family with a crying 3 year old girl and never had the decency nor respect for the paying patrons sitting around them to take the child outdoors until calmed down. My family of 8 sat next to this screaming girl and parents for over 30 minutes. I asked the waitress to have the manager come to my table so I could ask them to do something about the obnoxious Hispanic family that had no regard for the customers sitting around them. The manager did nothing to help the situation. The girl manager would rather lose well behaved patrons than to take control of the situation and lose annoying customers, that quite honestly, you don't want that type of customer base in there anyway if they don't have any better sense than that. On top of that they had been drinking and were quite loud and belligerent themselves with children. Great role models! Totally unacceptable! Very disappointed in Texas Roadhouse to have the proud name of Texas associated with their restaurant name and not handle that situation better. Won't be back!!! read more

One of my fav restaurants in town. This is the best prime rib I eat. I almost always get it if I want red meat. Arrr. Also have an excellent ribeye. I also often get their crispy chicken salad or a house salad if I'm not as hungry. In my opinion, it is the best house salad in town. Fried pickles are good, but a little on the salty side. Going here for my birthday in a few days. Can get a little too loud for my taste, but that is expected for this genre. read more

As a former roadie, I was very disappointed in the last experience I had with this location. I called in a to-go order for 4 people where we were only given 4 rolls (I mean at least 2 rolls for each person please), I ordered beef tips, which when I got home I discovered had no beef in them at all, just A LOT of mushrooms and onions, and one of our loaded baked potatoes came without any toppings. I called the manager on duty immediately once I got home and he mailed me a dinner for 2 gift card, but whether or not we will use it is yet to be determined. I used to work for Texas Roadhouse in South Austin and I was a to-go girl for over a year, so I understand you can get busy and maybe forget little things, but to completely leave out steak on a steak dish is just ridiculous and is everyone's fault to had anything to do with that order. read more

In the past few years I used come for the good happy hour, but they did away with that a couple years ago. The last time I was in town I stopped in for their early bird dinner and ordered the single pork chop, which used to be pretty tasty, but this was not. It was dry and overcooked and the peppercorn sauce was way to spicy. I sent it back and ordered the pork bbq. It was okay, way to over-sauced. The only good part of the meal were the rolls, which are always fresh, but get them a little browner because they can taste a bit doughy. This place has really gone downhill! First time here on the way up I35. Myself, my girlfriend, and four kids. It was a friday evening, about 8. Was quite crowded, lots going on. I was worried at first because the hostess told me I had to talk to this other hostess 'over there' because she handled large parties, and also she looked at me a little funny when I explained that I had not called ahead. But, they got us seated fast enough. The first thing they do when they seat you is give you a basket of truly epic, fresh, hot rolls accompanied by cinnamon-infused butter. My spirits were immediately lifted. Those things are bomb. I ordered a bone-in ribeye with a baked sweet potato and a caesar salad. The steak was cooked properly and was plenty tasty. My sweet potato (with more of that cinnamon butter) was good as well as the salad. My girl got a sirloin that also seemed to be well received. My son's kid burger looked kinda gross but he didn't complain. Everyone seemed pretty happy with their food. Also, I ordered a Dos Equis (beer selection ain't that great but this is Temple...my expectations were low). My waiter (definitely a bro, but an earnest one) brought me the big beer when I ordered the regular beer, but I only got charged for the regular. Another win! So we just moved to Temple from Dallas, and figured Texas Roadhouse would be a good place to get our first meal. We've gone several times back at home. I normally order steak medium rare, but learned my lesson from eating at a medium range chain restaurant. Let's just say I had to worst case of food poisoning in my life. I ordered my rib eye medium, while everyone ordered it medium rare. My steak came out cooked perfectly on the medium rare side. My other party members steaks looked like they put it on the grill for about 30 seconds on each side. The steak was so rare, it came out purple. I could have sworn I could see it breathing as it still looked pretty alive. A place like this should know how to cook a steak, especially in a place like Temple! I got the chili and steak fries as my sides. The chili was good. The bread was tasty, as usual. I'm not a big fan of peanuts, but this is a plus as well. Next time I want a steak while in Temple, I'll opt to go to the local HEB and cook it on the stove top. At least I'll know it'll be cooked perfectly. read more

Visited Texas Roadhouse while in Temple, this was a 1 minute walk next door from the Best Western I was staying at, so it made sense to give it a whirl. I've seen many a TRs before, but never had need to visit. Went on a recent Saturday night to watch Heisman presentation, and by 5:45, the place was PACKED. Must have been a combination of blue-haired locals and I-35 travelers, but it was hoppin'. Buddy and I saddled up to the bar, were greeted by a combination of 'bartenders' (mostly beer pourers), who took some effort at least to know our names. Most of the menu is a healthscare contributor, but a few not so awful for your plumbing options were found; I stuck with the pulled pork and chicken breast platter, with a side of chili (best part of meal..rich, spicy..nice) and salad. Pulled pork a smidge on the dry side, chicken breast came slightly-slathered in a BBQ sauce (thankfully not much, but enough to keep it warm). Chicken prepared as expected. Not many choices from tap expect the typical big-brand swill, but went with the one 'different' tap, a Shiner seasonal winter lager, that was quite tasty...and cold. Service efficient, food acceptable. Visit dictated by location, but if I'm in Temple again, I will be venturing to some other intruiging spots I've found on Yelp! read more

Driving through on I-35. Wanted a real meal. THE NICEST EMPLOYEES here. Manager obviously doing a great job setting the culture... Wish wait staff was this pleasant in my town. Had a 6oz filet, cooked medium. Came out perfect. Tasted lean - not over seasoned. Very tender. All in, excellent value for a mid-price steak. I-35 service road under construction, but parking lot perfectly paved, clean, and very very well lit. Men's Restrooms clean - presume same for women's Again, staff really made the difference. We have eaten here many times and always very good food. Also enjoy the peanuts and used to enjoy throwing the shells on the floor. The last visit my wife ordered grilled chicken and I ordered the grilled salmon which we had ordered on previous visits. Bottom line, both were so over cooked to the point that they were like rubber. The waiter we had never asked how our food was, as he didn't come around after bringing it out. Texas Roadhouse has good food, but their service needs to be improved. I arrived with my group knowing that we had a reservation, but the restaurant wasn't prepared to seat us. We had to wait for an hour just to be seated. The waitress tried to make up for the hour-long wait. She was nice and she helped out with everything we needed. If you are in a rush, do not eat at Texas Roadhouse because the wait can be very long. If you are not in a rush, then try it out. My filet was delicious and well prepared. I typically frequent in parties of 5 to 10 people yet the staff typically does a very good job in keeping up. Like all businesses there has been issues on occasion but they are always taken care of. Very disappointed in my service here tonight. Got walked to table by a very rude hostess didn't say a word. Then trying to get past waiter and baby in isle of the corner we were put in, don't mind baby but expect waiter to slide over a bit so we could pass did not happen. When seated , we waited for waiter to get our drink order that took a bit, finally took drink order and appetizers order after waiting a bit the appetizer came only one of them. Then a glass of water only one there is two of us apparently it was the last rush hour so took at least 20 to 30 min to get my mixed drink. Got food then try to order another drink wave down the waiter to tell him comes over, tell him and he walks off. Try to order from bar only for waiter to card us. I am so pissed by this point I am done. Will not be returning will say that sweet girl named kaylah was sweet and willing to do what was needed. Ryan is too tired and needs to go home. My first time ordering here. Honestly, I don't eat out very often because I like cooking and I'm not too bad at it. However, the pandemic and accompanying quarantine has me eating out more just so I can help out my community and local businesses. Having been self employed before, I can only imagine how difficult this must be on local businesses. Tonight I ordered the Filet Salad with blue cheese dressing but no croutons. I ordered he Chicken Tenders kids meal for my granddaughter. The food was good and the portions were generous. My filet was cooked just right and they took the time to wrap the filet in foil separately from the salad which I really appreciated. My granddaughter said the kids meal was really good. (She's a picky eater so that's some high praise.) All in all, we really enjoyed our takeout meal. Just one little thing they might want to consider in the future: although they were extremely generous with the honey butter, we needed some bread or rolls to spread it on. Yup, no bread or rolls. Tough times though and a new way of doing business is going to throw anyone off, I guess. Besides, I tell myself my girlish figure probably didn't need that bread. We came for a birthday dinner. The food is decent (with the exception of contracting shigatoxin E. coli last time I ate here in 2014). The service was far less than satisfactory. Jake and Joseph were great servers but the bartender was incredibly rude. He came over to hound our birthday guy on an open tab at the bar because he needed to close out now. Shortly thereafter our entire table of 14 (yes, exceeding the covid guidelines - we won't even go there) patrons all in the mid 30's we're cut off because the birthday boy said something to the bartender. Mind you the folks at this table had 1-2 beers each. (I don't drink). Then the other servers proceed to mess up the orders without offering to fix it. Go to Cheeves or Longhorn Steakhouse. One downside would be the wait time to get in, but it ends up being worth it. Plus you get free peanuts and you're allowed to throw the shells on the floor. I have always liked going to Texas Roadhouse. However, it seems the Temple Texas location is inconvenienced by large families. At other locations they sat us quickly and together. This particular location requires an act of Congress for us to be seated together. We tried to go to eat there today for dinner at 4:45pm. There was not bmvery many role there, yet. We were told that the manager had to come speak with us about the seating arrangement. What is there to discuss?!? We have 6 children 11 and under and 2 adults.
