We were in town for the state softball tourney, and we stopped in here after the game. This place is GOOD! Most everyone had tacos, while I had the bowl. My bowl had poblano rice, pinto beans, green Chile pork, lettuce, pico, onion, cilantro, cheese, and guacamole. I highly recommend it! I was really shocked at the quality of food here. Everyone was ranting and raving over there tacos as well. The tacos are cooked fresh right in front of you after you order. This place had a semi free birds/chipotle vibe to it. I'm giving this place two stars. One for their tortillas and one for their fajita beef. I love supporting local businesses but not when they are robbing you. The portions are ridiculous here compared to the price. If I'm paying $15-20 for a meal for one person, I need to walk out with leftovers, or at least walk out full. The beans and rice are put into these little styrofoam containers and if the manager/owner is the one serving you, he will fill them up halfway. It beans and rice! One of the cheapest things in the world to make. They barely put any meat on the tacos but charge almost $6 for one small beef taco. Rice is not good. Chicken is not good. Corn is not good. Calling it Mexican street corn but no chili powder? There breakfast tacos are good, but the tortillas fall apart, even with their skimpy portion sizes. This local spot came highly recommended by one the foodies groups I'm in on Facebook, so I obviously had to try them out. They definitely lived up to the hype! We ordered one of their taco kits, and it was delicious! Well worth the price...you get lots of food! We opted for the beef fajita meat, and the green chile pork. The beef fajita meat was definitely some of the best I've ever had. Super juicy, full of flavor, and grilled perfectly. I also got a taco bowl on the side because I wanted to try the Carne Guisada for the first time. I really liked it...tasted just like pot roast! Not impressed. If you like your ingredients scooped out of a steam table, cafeteria style, you're in for a treat. Nothing fresh. All pre-made. Just like subway. They do have a flat top. Probably to warm up stuff stored in a fridge. Didn't notice a microwave, though. The bacon looked like it was through a grinder. Maybe sysco brand premium mince? My wife and I love the food at Texas Taco. I'd give it 5 stars but the consistency of what's offered at what times kind of sucks. We come about every weekend and get the same things early am, but don't like breakfast Tacos so we order regular tacos and I get a taco salad. Being told that "we don't do that right now, just breakfast" has never been an issue. The fact that the shells for the salad are already made and on a shelf next to the dude is kinda ridiculous that you cannot throw it together and charge me like usual. Pretty silly. read more
