We got there at 1. There was a guy at the entrance that directed us to the public parking bc they were full. It was $25 for each tube with or without a bottom (we got bottoms, good choice because there were very shallow spots we scraped across). The water was not moving at all until we got to the main river. There were 3 chutes that were great. We paddled a lot with our hands and then one of us swam and pulled us along and it took us 2 hrs. Otherwise it would have been easily 3 hrs. It is a Friday and there were too many people on the river and a lot would train up and block the whole river. By the time we got out, we were ready to be off the river. The bus was waiting and it was a quick ride back. (Bus was full). Easy to get license and key back. There are free lockable combination lockers next to bathrooms but we didn't know that. There is not much shade, contrary to what someone said, and there was no place selling drinks along the way (also contrary to what someone else said), which woulda been a nice treat. None of us dumped over in the chutes. read more

After years of renting tubes from Rockin' R, I finally made my way to Texas Tubes. I can officially say that I am a convert. Granted, this was probably the first time that I've ever taken the day off of work so that we could tube on a random Monday, so that probably influenced my judgement somewhat. We got there late in the day, about 2:00 or so. No crowds what-so-ever, and there was plenty or room to park in the parking lot. we had our tubes in hand within about 10 mintues are were getting into the water after about 30 minutes. I loved the difference at Texas Tubes. That whole walk a half mile carrying a tube and/or cooler thing does SUCK. With Texas Tubes, we parked RIGHT on the water, bought our tubes, and got right in. It was pretty pleasant having our cars close, and the small coolers rule was really not that bad anyways. We just ended up putting 2 small coolers into one tube. And if you wanna go for another float, you can get always get out and refill your cooler, eat snacks, etc... then go again. I am done with Rockin' R. No more feeling like cattle for me. Their bus driver won't warn you that you are not allowed to get on the bus if you didn't rent from them and the owner will come yell at you after the fact and threaten to fire the bus driver unless you're white. I feel sorry for anyone who works for a manager as rude and mean like that read more

The staff is nice. Ticket includes bus ride from your car to the river entrance and back to your car when you're done. They also let you choose between open and close bottomed tubes. The float down the river is relaxing but has a few really fun and thrilling shoots you go down! They have a stand with drinks and food about halfway down that you can stop at and get out to relax and eat before finishing your foot down the river. The downside is that they don't give you any rope or string to tie your tube to the other people in your groups' tube, other tubing companies have provided this for us in the past. Luckily I used my bracelet I had handy to tie me and my friends tube together, otherwise we would've been holding onto each other for 2+hrs and having to worry about losing each other! We live in Fort Worth and drove down just to float the river, so we had never been here before. They didn't tell you that you'd be standing waiting for the bus to take you to/from the river for 10+mins or that you'd have to stand in a long line to get your tubes, all on blazing hot cement (other tubing companies didn't have this wait) so we didn't know to wear shoes and it burned the bottoms of our feet. That part is our fault though, live and learn! Definitely bring shoes to wear though! My biggest reason for only giving 3 stars is because the college guys that were sitting in front of us on the bus were screaming, yelling and standing up waving their arms around and kept almost hitting us the entire ride. Mind you, we're the same age as them and enjoy having fun too but it made the entire bus extremely uncomfortable and the bus driver did nothing about it. You'd think that they wouldn't want people standing up and acting aloof in a moving bus but that wasn't the case and it put a damper on the entire experience, considering the bus ride to the overflow lot is about 8-10mins long. Overall it was fun, but be aware that the bus rides can be crazy/not kid friendly. make sure to bring plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen, and shoes and you'll have a good time! read more

Texas Tubes made things very easy for our trip. Parking is right on the river, the bathrooms were clean and nice and large for changing, and there were two outdoor showers which were nice to have to rinse off before our drive home. When we finished, it was easy to find the shuttle stop to catch our ride back. All the workers were very nice and helpful. We had a fun time on the Comal and would definitely use Texas Tubes again. read more

This was an awesome experience for my crew! Before arriving, we were expecting a shuttle nightmare but were totally wrong! The location couldn't have been more convenient as its right on the river! For $18 a person you can float once (which took us 2.5 hours) or for $25 you can go unlimited all day, not to mention they conveniently sell ice. This river has three shoots along the route that were amazing! I also have to give a shout out to Kim, the lady working the counter. She was so lovely and had great recommendations for local dining and different experiences on the river (i.e. If you wanted to bring your own tube and not rent). read more

Whats better than mother nature and beer? Enjoying both in a tube on the Comal River with your friends. I hit this place up with a bunch of buddies on a bachelor party and I have to say for the doubters this was great. Pretty much Comal is a man made river, but to me it seemed pretty real. It's surrounded by a mixture of woods, parks, and houses; all in all good scenery. The day we went the river was moving pretty slow and it took about three hours from start to end, honestly I think the perfect amount of time to be on the river. The river itself has two tricky spots where you can loose your tube, but that adds a little bit of excitement; so no biggie. In some areas the water is shallow and in other it is deep, so if you can't swim wear a life jacket.... We rented tubes from the company for like $12 bucks and we also rented a tube with coolers so we could float our beers down the river for about $15. I definately recommend it for a fun and relaxing summer day. read more

Got there yesterday around 11:30 and had an hour wait for a tube. Not sure why it takes so long for people to pay for a tube, but it does. The river is a blast in a red neck American kind of way. Just make sure you bring little coolers. They have some new rule about not having big coolers in tubes so they trick you into renting one of theirs. read more

We had a great time at Texas Tubes yesterday - we decided on this one after seeing the yelp reviews of all the tubing places. It is quite a production and I imagine as good as any of the companies up there. It was petty organized and we never had to wait too long for anything. For tubing in general though I would recommend a few things - bring a plastic bag f you want to eep your stuff dry. You can get a tube with a cooler for all of your beer but the bottom of the tube gets super wet. Bring lots of ice (they ran out) and lots of beer/margaritas and sunscreen. You could also bring your own tubes and get in across the river and save some money - you need 2 cars though. It would be amazing if you had waterproof speakers. read more

For my first time tubing down the river, I wanted to make sure both my friends and I had a great experience. If you're looking for the same, I would suggest this place. The staff was really friendly and helped us with everything. Since it was the 3 of us, we rented 3 tubes. However, you would also need to rent another tube for your cooler. If you do not own a cooler, they offer to provide you one, for a refundable deposit of $10. Also, we had a coupon for $1 off (which is helpful, especially in this recession) that we printed out off their website. After setting everything up and tying all of our tubes together, we walked down the ladder and into the water. It was so convenient that it is literally right there. The staff instructed us that the end of the "river" would be when we see a sign that says "Texas Tube, exit here". After consuming numerous beer and floating for approximately 2-3 hours, we came to the end. We walked up the stairs and turned left and waited for the free bus to take us back to the beginning point. You do have to be careful, because there are lots of people here, both families and friends. It gets backed up for a while and you would have to paddle away to make sure you don't bump anyone else. However, even if you bump into someone by accident, I doubt that people would care, as evident by me bumping into tons of people. Also, be careful of the first tube chute...either you finish your beer or risk the chance of water getting into it. I made the mistake of letting water get into it :( read more

We have always heard great things about tubing from friends so we decided to give it a try. Asked numerous friends which company to choose as there are so many to choose from, one recommended Texas Tubes because it started from the top of the river (not understanding what that meant until the end). Saturday morning we parked and paid for our tubes in the parking lot, we had 8 people in our group, my husband, my self, my 19 year old daughter and her friend and 4 of my children ages 14 - 4. We asked the people in the parking lot if it was okay for my 4 year old to go? They answered yes. We asked should he share a tube? They said no he is big enough to be on his own. We proceeded to Texas tubes my husband signed a "waiver" bear in mind no one spoke to us, no one saw my 4 year old and thought they should inform us of the dangerous drop ahead (starting from the people in the parking lot), no one told us what to expect or gave us any advise. It was all a bunch of teenagers just handing out tubes. We went on the river, tied up to each other as we had so many kids we wanted to keep everyone close. It was a beautiful day, off we went! We saw a sign "weak swimmers exit here" in our ignorance we thought 1) Exit? We don't want to end the river ride! 2) The weakest swimmer my 4 year old has on a life jacket we are fine!! So we went down, it was like a 10 foot water slide with no rules or regulations as dozens of people on tubes are going down at the same time, constantly! At the bottom of the "slide" is like entering a washing machine with more tubes coming behind you. As we were going down the water chute my 4 year old fell out, this caused a lot of panic and we all jumped out to try and save him, he did have on a life jacket and was floating in the whirl wind of current as more tubes were entering. When we jumped out, we were of no help with the current pushing us along with new tubes entering. My husband being the strongest was able to stand his ground and look for my son, he saw my 4 year old in the distance and saw a guy had him. He then turned around to see my 11 year old going under several times and numerous tubes running over him. The life guards (teenagers) throwing black tubes to the people that was struggling, he couldn't grab it as he was too weak and terrified which made him disoriented. My husband eventually got to him and pulled him out and got him towards us and went back in search of my 4 year old. While waiting on the sidelines to calm ourselves down, there were many people looking for their loved ones. I also noticed that we could have walked around the terrible, dangerous slide. If I had know I would have never put my family in that danger. I also learnt later on that if we used a different tubing company, we would have started on a different part of the river and avoided this trauma. Where are the regulations? Where are the warnings? What about making people wear life jackets mandatory? And absolutely no children under the age of 12 on that terrible drop!! The staff, the lifeguards are all teenagers how can they save anyone?? It was like being on a water park ride with no rules, and having people fall on top of each other in a very strong current where even the strongest swimmer struggles. The reason for my review is to prevent this from happening to someone else, and to hopefully get some rules and regulation on that part of the river. The rest of the river is fine and beautiful and I highly recommend it with life jackets. read more

Fun day on the Comal river. If this is the less crowded river float I would hate to see the other river. However everyone had fun and were very courteous and nice on the river. Float company well organized and everyone nice. Will do this again for sure. 1st and most fun Shute is where a lot of people got dumped off tubes. Be sure you have your hats, glasses and tube contents secured or you will lose them. Try not to go down in a large group as that seems to be when you get dumped. read more

We had an awesome experience overall. Texas tubes was very friendly, convenient, and a great price. My biggest and only complaint is they should've warned us to put a life jacket on our seven-year-old when going through the first tube shoot. Even with a good swimmer which he is it could have been really bad had he flipped over. We saw a grown adult flip over and almost had to be rescued by lifeguards. It was very fast-moving and could have been life-threatening to my son had he fallen out of the tube. I think Texas tubes needs to put a lot more emphasis on explaining the trip down the comal and highly recommend life jackets for little ones. My friend went to Chuck's tubes and they explained the whole trip with photos and stressed the danger of the first tube shoot which I wish they would have done for us at Texas tubes. If you've never tubed the Comal before, there are a few pointers you should know about. First of all, you'll be floating on deep water most of the time, so ask for a life jacket if you need it. Secondly, get a tube with a bottom because the hard plastic will protect your butt from rocks. Third and most importantly, you'll want to HOLD ON TIGHTLY when the water pushes you through the chutes. Basically, there are 3 "chutes" that you'll go through. It's when the waterway narrows to one side of the river and rushes you through very swiftly. The first chute is the one you want to watch out for because the current is very strong for a few moments. You'll want to hold on tightly and also hold your eyeglasses in your hand so they don't get lost. Otherwise you could capsize and you'll find yourself having to swim to stay afloat in deep rushing water. Most people I saw did not capsize, but occasionally people do. The second and third chutes are not as fierce. But the second chute does go over a big rock that I banged my tailbone against and it would've hurt if not for having a bottom on my tube. Other than that, the float is very serene and worthwhile, especially in the last half when there are fewer people and more wildlife. Just make sure to tell the front desk that you've never tubed in the area before so that they can give you some tips in person. As for the rental shop, this is a good one because they hold your car keys. Also they have outdoor showers with soap and bathroom stalls big enough for changing. Best of all, the parking seemed secure. They have a private lot that is steps away from the front desk. They also have mesh bags and twine you can use to carry your belongings on the water. I found that I really didn't need anything except my sandals and maybe some extra sunscreen. Definitely apply sunscreen all over, especially on your legs and FEET. Another thing is that their tubes only have one handlebar to hold onto, but you could probably make a second one with more twine. read more

Nice employees but would not recommend this spot. Especially for families with small children or pets. The shoots are pretty intense and have see a lot of dangerous situations. More appropriate for young adults. Also laws in New Braunfels don't allow cans or sandwich bags.. need my snack!! Also won't allow double tubs which is the main reason we go floating. read more

Great service! Texas tubes sets you up on a perfect spot on the Comal that gives you a 2- 2 1/2 hr float time. You will get to do all three tube chutes-there are lifeguards along the way to help and guide you on how/where to go. If you go tubing, be prepared to work through the tubes chutes, they shoot you out a pretty good distance. They also point out the important signage, including the exit point of the river. Its $20 per person then an extra $20 to rent their rubes (highly recommend buying a personal tube at academy, Walmart etc got mine for $12)-the best deal is if you decide to float a second time on the same day it's only $7 a person. It's gorgeous, you should start early and float ALL DAY! After you are done with the float, the bus will take you and your tube back to where you originally took off! For sure tons of fun, I would highly recommend Texas Tubes. FYI if you are floating the comal you are not allowed to bring glass, plastic or any disposable bottles or containers the police are crazy strict out there so better safe than sorry! read more

We were greeted with the most incredible and polite staff who directed us to the launch pad which far surpassed that of Landa River Trips'. This place is horrible. I cannot imagine the strain this pandemic has put on businesses like this, in an attempt to support them we went to see about the services offered. The woman who appeared to be an owner or manager was very rude. They are basically charging $20/person to allow you to put in on their property and park your vehicle in their lot. No transportation back, no location to exit the river. With a group of 20, it seemed a little unreasonable to pay $400. We decided to find another route. 100% the worst experience I have ever had tubing in my life, I'll never be coming back to Texas Tubes. Went with a few friends and spent $80 on 3 river access and a cooler tube. We got to the first chute slit my whole right hand trying to prevent from slamming someone's head into the concrete/wood siding. Meanwhile my girlfriend was stuck in the Rapids screaming while the lifeguards watched and said "you'll be fine." So thankfully the New Braunfels Rangers were able to get us out and patch my hand up. We walked all the way back to Texas Tubes where we re-patched my hand up while they just stood by and watched. We explained the situation and we were told no refund, we explained the severity of the situation and was refused again we said "have a good day." as we walked off the manager said under her breath "what a bitch." I came back and confronted her about it and she pretended that I didn't exist. We were refused a shuttle back to the lot where we parked which we paid for. So please stay away from Texas Tubes you can find cheaper and better options anywhere else. read more

Was really shocked yesterday (on a Monday) when my daughter & I decided to go tubing at the last minute. Website says they close at 7:00(If u have ur own tube...we did!)& 5:00 if you have to rent a tube. Rates are $18 ea(that includes tube, float(although the river is free I believe)&a bus ride back to their parking lot. Since it was 5:20 I figured we were still okay since we had our own tubes and it was before 7 but instead we were stopped as we exited the car and told that it was too late to get a bus ticket back so the website is incorrect. Irregardless after trying several other locations to put in at with no success we came back there thinking well we'll just jump in there leave our car there and when we get out of the river will call Lyft to get a ride back to our car so we proceeded to do so as we both entered the water we were stopped again and told that we needed to pay the $18 each to enter the water right there so basically we had to pay $36 to use their steps and jump into our tubes. That's a little ridiculous! No bus ride back plus they weren't even open so they claimed and we still had to pay $18 ea and had to call Lyft to take us back to our car when it was over. I am no river outfitter expert, but my experience with Texas Tubes was great. We were able to park for free, fill up our tubes with air from the building across the way for free, use their bathroom facility (which was actually clean), and for $15 per person jump into the river, and grab a shuttle ride back for the day. We arrived a little afternoon, and had to wait in along line for those of us with credit cards only, reminder next time bring cash. Also, they do NOT accept American Express. They were really nice and kept a bag of my belongings behind the counter, and it was still there when I got back. Once you pay, then you wait in another line to get into the river. There are some stairs to a landing in which you throw your tubes in, climb down a ladder and then maneuver your way into your tube. We had a third tube with us, that served as our cooler for snacks, water, and cans. If you forgot sunscreen, they did sell some items at the cash register. You will definitely want to reapply sunscreen while floating down the river. The Comal is a beautiful river, warmer than the others, about 3 miles long and can take about 3-4 hours to float down. It is a slow moving river, with several river chutes well signed along the way. Their are two exits on the river, and they are well signed. At the last exit, you climb a bunch of stairs, and in no time we were met by a shuttle that took us back to Texas Tubes and our car. I don't think I would go 2x, so a day pass seems silly. I would definitely recommend Texas Tubes, easy to find, convenient and friendly. read more

I went tubing for the first time EVER last weekend, and it was fabulous! I felt very Texan! It was an incredibly hot day and we got a late start, but things went smoothly. There was a big parking lot where we could leave our car and a shuttle (which was actually more like a paddy wagon, but it did it's job) took us to get our tubes. There was a VERY long line, but it went by pretty fast. Drinking in line helped! For $11 bucks you get a tube and a shuttle ride to and from the river. They also had tubes with bottoms for the coolers. Great time. I can't wait to do it again!! read more
