When I asked a simple question for clarification before he started, he said, "Don't worry about it, you'll find out." That level of arrogance is unacceptable from anyone, let alone a physician. I work in the medical field, and I have never encountered a doctor who behaved with such blatant disrespect and unprofessionalism. His demeanor was condescending, dismissive, and it has no place in patient care. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because an administrator called and apologized for his behavior after I complained. I will be seeing another doctor at the practice from now on.

We arrived 15 minutes early for the appointment. when my mother checked in the girl at the front desk asked if she had filled out the paperwork online. My mother told her she tried but the website kept dropping her and she would have to start all over again. She tried 3 times and it kept dropping. The girl the told her that if you didn't fill out the paperwork online they inform you to get there 30 minutes early to do the paperwork. My mother told her she was not informed about this and the girl rudely replied "well, it was in the text we sent you and if you're not able to complete the paperwork before your appointment time you may not be able to see the doctor today." EXCUSE ME but I don't think it's a good practice to threaten your patients. Especially an elderly person. That caused my mother to become very anxious that she wouldn't be done with the paperwork. I went up to the front desk to inform them that that was rude and unacceptable but they just argued that it was their policy. So, I guess in this world today there is no accommodation or respect for the elderly or what if it was someone with special needs? We will not be going back there!

After being prepped--eye fully dilated, IV in my hand, tubes in my nose--I was left completely unattended for more than an hour and fifteen minutes. No nurse, assistant, or doctor checked on me or explained the delay. When I finally asked a staff member what was happening, he told me the doctor was "busy" and that it might take another 30-45 minutes. At that stage of preparation, patients are normally taken to the OR within ten minutes. I was hungry, uncomfortable, and had been fasting nearly 14 hours. I asked to be disconnected and left the center around 3 p.m. The most disappointing part is that Dr. Zhu never reached out to explain or apologize. Two-and-a-half weeks later someone from his office called politely to ask if I wanted to rebook--but by then I had decided never to return. In my opinion, Dr. Zhu showed no empathy or sense of patient responsibility. While the support staff at this facility were warm and professional, the physician himself seemed detached and unconcerned. I expected far better care and communication. They offer all the versions of replacement lenses available, though unfortunately most insurance companies only cover the Basic mono-focal lenses. They handled everything with my insurance. The cost and copay will depend on your insurance coverage. With Medicare and the basic lens, my copay was about $250. The surgery is performed at a surgery center in Round Rock, and Dr. Restivo did a great job. It is 100% painless and I am amazed at the difference it makes to my vision! I can't wait to have the other eye done in a couple of weeks.
