This establishment is now called "Modern Edge" and has many of the same, and a few new, barbers as before. It's great to have them in the neighborhood. They are always welcoming, talented, and accommodating. Hey I'm an old guy with not much hair, but they clean me up and polish my look at least twice a month. It has been almost three years since my last review and felt I needed to update. I am still going here and the service and courtesy is still top quality. My baraber knows me by name and remembers how I like my hair cut. A couple of times I called to make an appointments and being booked up she came in early to fit me in. I cannot say how much I appreciate that as my schedule gets really tight sometimes and I only have a small time window to get my cut done. My old barber of several years retired and it took me a long time to find a place I like. I am truly happy I found TF Barbershop. With the pandemic I went a year without a haircut and then started cutting my hair myself. I recently retired from Parkland Hospital as a Registered Nurse. I was exposed to COVID patients every day. Since retiring I feel it is finally safe for me to be around people. I was always concerned about spreading the virus. I'm finally ready to go for a haircut. Last Tuesday I did a walk in. One of the guys can take me. I told him I wanted to have the area around my ears and neck cleaned up and have split ends cut. I said I want a long haircut. We finished it looked ok in the mirror. I had no idea until I got home and washed my hair that, once again, I got the Oak Cliff gangsta cut where my hair was buzzed 1/2 inch long up to the top of my head and then left the hair 4 inches long on top. Awful! Went back Friday morning and told him this is not what I asked for and I can't live with this haircut. He needs to fix this or I would go home and buzz it off myself. Either way I wasn't going to walk around with this haircut. He did buzz it all down to blend in to the other short buzzed hair. Every time I look in the mirror it makes me mad. So either this guy doesn't listen or he has no skills cutting hair. It will take 3 months for my hair to grow back. This was not cheap. $35 haircut + $10 tip + another $10 for him to fix it. $55 for possibly the worst haircut of my life. read more

Also, they serve complimentary beverages; water, wine and beer to ease you in the chill ambiance they provide. Free Wi-Fi. They have TV's to catch you up on sports if that's your thing. Walk-ins welcome, but a call or appointment is always best. Prices are very reasonable for the pampering you get here. I go here at least every week or before a special event. My husband does not do Yelp reviews but I think they're invaluable. He went a few weeks ago for a basic men's cut on a Friday evening. He didn't really care for the cut but did not go back until the following Thursday (heavy work schedule) to get it cleaned up - which, granted, is a bit long to return. But many years ago, I had to return to a salon for a correction, did so well in to the first week post visit, and they were very gracious. This stylist was not; in fact, she fussed at him for not coming in sooner. He felt the fix was rushed and not well done. And my husband is a very straightforward men's cut. Lessons: call the salon as soon as you realize you need a correction, gently request someone else, and for heaven's sake - if you are building a "neighborhood" business, be generous to a fault with your new customers. read more

Just had a great experience with Miguel. Walked in when it wasn't busy and got a seat. Offered me beer or water. Euro Cup on all three flat screens. Miguel is a younger gentleman, but certainly talented with the clippers and straight blade. He didn't push me back too far on the edge so it looks natural, clean, and finished. The decor is antique. Chairs are great. Free-WiFi. Flat screens. Everyone was accommodating. No "ghetto activities" noticed juxtaposed to a previous review. Great neighborhood shop and will absolutely return. read more

Not a bad little place. The haircut was pretty decent as well. The barbers aren't very talkative. If you go just be prepared for a long hair cut. They do a good job just no sense of urgency. It was 40 minutes for a simple men's cut. read more

TF Barbershop is a great place to get your haircut! Vanessa cuts my hair does a great job!! It's a nice local barbershop for the neighborhood. For me it is only 1 1/2 miles from my apt. And I am very picky about my hair being cut, because I have like nine Calyx in the back of my head most people only have one! Vanessa does a great job after my hair is cut she washes my hair she fluff set up and I'm out the door. And if I had a complaint it's a let my big ass doesn't fit well in the chair. read more
