TGI Fridays have mostly closed (and all in NY) and this is sad! We have been huge fans for more than 30 years! On a trip to Newark airport my hubby and I discovered there was a location here, in West Orange! We arrived to find a few folks at the bar and the bartender, Zarkeara, happily waiting on customers, she is friendly and kind- we hope to see her again! We met several locals with whom we shared a few cocktails and stories with; varied backgrounds and just wonderful happy hour company!! The service and drinks were great! We hope this location will stay open! And as always mozz stix were off the hook! Hubby had the Cajun shrimp and chicken pasta...he said it was might have been his serving yet, that was his go to! So I loved Fridays growing up and decided to visit. When we entered, the host was beyond friendly. We decided to sit at the bar... bad idea. We sat down and it was filthy at the bar. I never sat in a place that was literally empty but everything moved in slow motion. I sat by the dirty cups on the bar and Athena the bartender gave us menus, and went down to talk to.. I don't know, maybe a love interest. Wasn't even cute. We told her whenever she was ready we were too. She proceeded to look me up, roll her eyes, and down and do a slow motion turn that honestly tickled me. We decided we can't give money to people like that even if we're hungry. I rather eat the air. I don't go very often but when I do I always have a good experience there and it must be the ambiance combined with the mellow atmosphere.

Food was not very good. It took our server almost 15 minutes to bring our table a cup of ranch, we asked for it to have with our appetizer, to which was cold by the time she came back with the ranch. Walked past our table multiple times without checking on the table, maybe checked twice, but stopped at the table behind us almost every time she was in the dining room. Proceeded to walk to another table texting, unprofessional. The employees yelling in the kitchen, unprofessional. Swearing at each other in the dining area, unprofessional. It was "ladies night" so they had music blaring in the bar area, along with the normal radio. Not a good dining experience. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. read more

Had a very underwhelming experience at Fridays. First, the drinks took foreverrrr to come, and when they finally arrived the person who delivered them couldn't fathomed that we'd ask for straws. The dragon berry margarita taste like sugar syrup, I would never get that again. The first Fridays LIT we ordered was good. The second one was all juice and soda, I didn't finish it. So basically, they aren't consistent in how drinks are made. The garlic parm wings were dry and over cooked. The Nashville hot sauce is not 3 fire emojis worth of hot like they menu suggests. The Buffalo wings were passable. The Margarita shrimp cocktail comes in a shaker. It was a cute presentation and it tasted good. The only issue here was that it was very hard dipping the food out of the glass. The corn was ok, the broccoli was slightly burnt on the bottom side, and the salmon was so dry and over cooked that I didn't eat it. Everything took forever to arrive at the table. YES IT USE TO BE BAD!! They changed the menu and it's AMAZING. I don't know what happened but after they had a kitchen fire and closed for a while they did some deep diving into what can make the business better. As a loyal Fridays customer of over 14 yrs I can say they came back with a Bang. The portions are smaller but the quality of everything is 10x better. I had my usual half rack of ribs, mash and fries. My friend had cheddar soup that she shared and they smacked my tasted buds. The crab cakes were seasoned perfectly. But I went yesterday before an event with some friends. Our server was named Deaja and she truly is a sweetheart. She was so nice and patient. Stay away from this TGI Friday's.. the food is bad, not the good kind of bad, and the customer service is even more horrific. It's ironic that TGI Friday's closed a bunch of locations in New Jersey but left the worst one standing in West Orange LOL!!! The Golden Days are long gone when it comes to the American tradition of the TGI Friday's experience and are never coming back. I'm going to spare (no pun intended) you the countless complaints and horror stories I've experienced at the Friday's in West Orange but I will tell you about my most recent one. So, I've been online ordering Friday's through a food delivery service app and about 4 times in a row I've been receiving free food because Friday's decided to intentionally not follow instructions, therefore I was refunded every time. For whatever reason, Friday's refuses to glaze their chicken strips even when the customer requests it as an option. I ordered Friday's for the last time recently and I decided to call in and speak to a manager about how I just placed an order through the app so they can prepare the food properly, since my previous food orders have been wrong consecutively. A black lady answers the phone and says, "You're speaking to a manager" after I made the polite request for a food check. She said, "Ok, I'll make sure they are tossing it", she was referring to the sauce that was missing on every previous order that I have been requesting but was never on the food. My "food" arrives and lo and behold it turned out worse than the previous wrong orders. Forgive me for having the integrity to call ahead and make sure my food was prepared properly so the food service app could stop refunding me and giving me free orders.. All I received was about 10 wings in a box, no fries, which usually comes with the order. I called TGI Friday's in West Orange after receiving the deliberately botched order, and as the phone was ringing it disconnected as if someone had knew I was calling and hung up the phone, LOL!!!! I made a formal complaint and was told by a remote customer rep that a manager would reach back out in 2-3 business days but of course that never happened. Anyway I've had great experiences at TGI Friday's especially before they starting discontinuing popular food items and every time I went to the one in West Orange, it always fell short and this is over a 10 span, so it's not surprising that the people working there now is continuing its infamous tradition of horrible service. It's going to be a good day --maybe a Good Friday-- when the location in West Orange shuts down for good!!!!! R.I.P. TGI Friday's. read more

We were served by Isaiah, the mocktails were disgusting, we understood it wasn't his fault so we then ordered soft drinks but then he forgot them and didn't deliver them till after the food arrived. The food itself was pretty ok but after finishing our meal he practically ignored us, he started side conversations with other tables and employees. I've come here numerous times over the years, usually before after catching a movie at the cinema all here at Essex Green. It's always been mediocre but time and I suppose Covid have not been kind to this Friday's. The staff were alright, but pretty much going through the motions. As a group we stopped in for drinks and apps while watching the Sunday games. Drinks were good and they have decent selection of drafts and bottles. The problems started with the apps. First off, and most egregiously the wings. I know they're running a "Around the world " promotion that offers different flavors and spins on popular apps and entrees, but those wings were not worth $20 bucks both in taste and quality. As far as wings go they were downright poor. Many of them were not meaty and others were hardly saucy. I got bone in wings too, should I have got boneless? It may not matter. The Spinach artichoke cheese dip was nice and hot, but it was so liquidy. Why? It's supposed to be more creamy and cheesy. The dumplings/Potstickers were alright but the sauces are what really made them. Lastly. It was freezing in here. Why? It was nice outside but only about 70 F degrees. Does the entire restaurant have to be cranked to maximum A/C? I don't mind TGI Fridays, and have no problem going every now and again, but this one certainly doesn't feel like a Friday when coming anymore and has slumped compared to my past visits. read more

My favorite Fridays because Cold Stones is right across from it :). Dragged my husband here today for some happy hour apps and a margarita. We sat at the bar, the wait wasn't long but it wasn't prompt. Our bartender was great and food was the typical bar food. So I come here with my family first time coming to this location and I was extremely extremely disappointed I enter through the back and see the waiters eating laughing making tik toks and you know what that would've been fine if I didn't receive the service I did , getting seated was alright took a sec but it was okay, on the other hand to even get my drink order taken a waiter took 15 minutes I'm assuming it was a young man team lead with a grey shirt he came and said has no one come over ..I'm assuming he sent a waiter however the waiter came to the table next to us who had just got seated 30 seconds before that moment , than another five minutes waiters come by , after that the food that did come buns were cold pickles were placed on burgers lettuce was ripped off the food after it was sent back to be toasted ... just do BETTER read more

I wish I read some of these reviews before opting for TGI Fridays tonight because, as has been pointed out by some, the service is subpar. Most of the staff didn't seem like they wanted to be there. The host who "greeted" us was half-slouched over the front desk with his earbuds in. The waitress wasn't very friendly. Not rude. Just not very social. That should've been our sign to turn around and go elsewhere. The food is overpriced and not that great. $16 for an order of boneless wings the size of dimes that come in a bowl with a side of ranch that might as well come in a Dixie cup is ridiculous. I asked if I could split the sauces and got a very sharp "No", which was disappointing. My daughter's pasta was undercooked and lacked flavor. The only highlight was the mozzarella sticks, which isn't saying much. Overall, it was a waste of my time and money. read more

Should have read the reviews before I came. I usually travel to the one in Wayne because I've never had a bad experience there but I live in EO so I figured I'd save some gas. I would have rather waste the gas. The wings were so horrible, over cooked, hard as rocks. My server was nice, but she was very forgetful. My food came out before my drink did. I visited this location for a family function on a Saturday night. The place was relatively busy, but we had a short wait time for seven people. After being seated, we waited a while for a server to stop by the table. Once we placed our drink orders, our server was literally bouncing around with them when he came back. After hoisting our drinks in the air above his head and asking who had what, he placed my margarita in front of me. A minute later, I noticed a bright red hair in my drink, which matched our server's. I ordered a meal with trepidation, albeit hairless, and the overall service was pretty subpar. I rate this location ZERO STARS! This location needs to be closed Immediately! We had the worst experience at a restaurant ever. We had a coupon that stated, buy one entrée and get another for free or $20 off of your bill $50 or more. We showed the server the coupon and wished to use. The server said ok, and took our order. We ordered a half rack of whiskey glazed ribs with fries and onion rings and whiskey glazed grilled chicken with two breadsticks and mashes potatoes. When the bill arrived ,the server said there was a promotion on ribs and we couldn't use the coupon. When asked to see a Supervisor, a dark skinned woman approached stating the server had made a mistake and the system wouldn't allow them to take any money off and she would see about what to do. She came back stating, her boss told her in order to honor the coupon, the rib entrée would have to be regular price. We agreed and the bill was adjusted. The new bill was brought out by our server, which was incorrect. Now, the server is telling us it was an upcharge for the onion rings, which we were never told. Nowhere on the menu did it say it would be an uncharged. We asked for the supervisor again, however she refused to come to speak with us. She sends someone else to speak for her. We asked for her boss, who just happened to not be in the restaurant. Another server came over with the corrected bill. As we were signing the receipt, we could her the Supervisor speaking extremely loud saying it was only $1.50. At this point the Manager had just walked back into the restaurant. He apologized. As we were walking out, the Supervisor and several female servers began to laugh extremely loud towards us. This was witnessed by several guess. People tend to be tough on these national chains but I like this restaurant! The staff tonight was friendly and they followed all the safety protocols. I tried two different chicken sandwiches (both were around $13). The grilled version included a juicy chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon and ranch dressing. Nothing really special but filling and somewhat healthy. The fried version was my favorite; the chicken was tender on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. The bun was perfectly toasted with just the right amount of mayo-based sauce. The melted cheese did not add much for flavor or aesthetics, so I would recommend passing. Both sandwiches were served with a generous side of salt and pepper fries. Service was very nice too; there were not a lot of people working the dining room but they made sure the glasses were filled and plates were cleared in a timely manner. read more

Got the bacon cheeseburger well done with fries & 1/2 rack of ribs whisky blaze with double fries. My burger was good, fries were fresh. Asked for a side of mayo....please please can't to go packages of mayo. The mayo seemed to be scooped out but you can tell it was sitting out all day. I wish I could give zero stars. Went in with my daughter at 2:25pm on a Sunday. The place was about 30% sat, with 12 guests at the bar. We were seated immediately. First the server doesn't arrive for 10 minutes. Next when she does arrive we order water, a Shirley Temple for my kid, kid's sliders, and a bacon cheeseburger for me. It is now 2:37. 10 mins later the water comes (2:47) 10 mins later the drinks arrive (2:57) and now at 3:00 my kid's food comes but no sign of mine. At 3:10 I ask for a manager and was told there were 3 on (but none helped the bartender catch up) At 3:20 (another ten minutes) they arrived and took another ten minutes to check what is going on with my food. When he comes back empty handed I'm upset, hungry, and angry. I express my anger and he tells me to "stop yelling, look at you sir- you're out of your seat" in a condescending tone. I explained that I was standing because I was leaving and that I hadn't yelled at him YET. He offered to comp my kid's food and a discount on the food I still haven't received 50 mins into my service. I declined and asked him to charge me so I could leave. When he comes back with the bill HE CROSSED OUT the tip for the server and wrote in a zero, saying I needed to sign. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I asked him why he assumed I was too cheap to tip... now I was yelling. I tipped $10 and yelled a bit about how poorly run the place was (with verbal approval from several other patrons) and got out of there. His response was a condescending "have a nice day" while chuckling to himself. Never ever ever again. That store has major leadership issues. Ps- I asked two employees on the way out if managers help when they are busy and was told that they aren't ever on the floor. It shows. HUGE NOTE: If you want quiet to mid level noise, go on a weekday. Went there with friends and it's pretty much your typical dive bar. Think about this as your entry level of your typical chain bars that would be good with a beer. It's been a while since I went to a TGIFridays and there's a few notable things. If you like carbs, cheese, and meat, this is the place for you. You'll find barely anything without it based on the menu. If you want to just have a little tasting without overkill, I would steer you towards the sliders. It's an east grab and bite because you'll be too busy talking to your friends than pay attention to the food. Don't try to order anything healthy here but the seasoned fries, great with the glaze on the side. Service was fine cause it wasn't too slow and we caught them before rush or the dinner rush. I was super excited that this Fridays location had reopened. I would visit often for a quick lunch. But My first visit back , I was very disappointed. I could get over the over cooked chicken fingers, and the onion rings, but when a manager rolls their eyes at you after giving feedback . It makes you wonder.
