I actually really like this place for what it is. It seems like the same woman is always working, and she is a bit timid, but always kind. I hope she gets a day off once in a while. Definitely a family owned business, and when I go in the evenings her kids are usually there as well. The food is super affordable, and they do have a few tables, but it's generally not really a place people visit to dine in. My kids love the orange chicken, but I really like the chicken and potatoes and the jalapeño chicken is pretty good too. I'd skip the fried rice or rice and go for the noodles instead, but that may just be a preference for me. I can feed my whole family (of 4) for under $25 with tip. Definitely worth it. read more

This is a tiny, hole in the wall, mom and pop joint. Their kids' stuff is all over the place, it doesn't feel classy at all, it's $2.00ish per scoop, which just means you KNOW it's gonna be good. And I was not disappointed. The food here is surprisingly Chinese-American fare, like what is typically thought of in the American collective conscience as Chinese food--what you might find at Panda Express. It's immigrant family owned though, so you can taste extra five-spice in the chow mien, the vegetables are not undercooked (though maybe they're overcooked according to some people's taste), and everything is so umami. The chow mien here is so special. Again, the primary flavor is five spice, so there are hints of cinnamon and anise. The sesame chicken is a little too sweet for me but fried very well. It may also have a tiny hint of spiciness. I like that all the components in the happy family taste distinct. You can taste how the carrots are different from broccoli and from the water chestnuts. Also has the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Stepping into the store feels like a blast from the past when only Chinese and Thai food or pizza were the primary takeout/delivery staples. Oh, even though the restaurant is called Chinese and Thai Express, they don't really have Thai food. But at least delivery is free! Don't come here if you want pampered service or clean flavors or if you have an MSG sensitivity. Also don't come if you can't stand a little grease. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but this little hole in the wall is pretty fantastic for the price. I go at least every other week, as I am addicted to their jalapeno chicken. I just get 2 scoops of that, and it is a full styrofoam box that is a big satisfying lunch, for under $5 out the door. I stopped in the UPS Store earlier, and could smell this place (it smelled amazing). I had additional errands to run, so I figured I'd swing by on my way back to the office. It's a small restaurant. I didn't count, but there are maybe 4 or 6 tables. Three of the tables were full when I walked in. Think of this as Panda-light. They had maybe 10 types of food available (sesame chicken, broccoli beef, orange chicken, I think Chow Mein, etc). There were 2 people in line in front of me when I walked in. Within 2 minutes they had both been helped and paid, and I ordered the General Tao (that's how they spelled it - I'm used to Tsao's) Chicken and fried rice. My to go box was packed full and was hefty. I paid under $4 for this! I was in and out of that place in no more than 4 minutes. I'm still stunned. The guy at the counter was nice and friendly. Now that I've finished my food (had a busy day, didn't eat much, don't judge), the pic is all that's left. I'm super satisfied, and fighting the urge for a nap. Thai & Chinese Express is my go-to scoop place! I've tried most of them in and around Denver, so I have some basis for comparison. The food is always fresh. The meat is plentiful, which is definitely not always the case at other scoop places. I always order sesame chicken and beef & broccoli. Their fried rice is actually pretty good, but I figure I'm getting more bang for my $1.75 per scoop by getting two meat entrees. They also have happy family, mushroom chicken, general tso, lo mein, wontons, potato chicken, and other Chinese food staples. They have a $4.50 credit card minimum, so if you're planning on only getting two scoops, bring cash. However, two scoops is a generous and delicious lunch. read more

I like to dub this type of Chinese as Chinese street food. Its not luxurious, will not break the bank, but boy is it good! Something you would get out of a street cart in Shanghai. I wouldn't have even bothered to check this pace out, but I was with my Dad and he suggested it, and stopped. Am I glad I did! The "scoops" aren't scoops at all, but HUGE servings, for what you pay. For dinner with my parents, we got crab cheese wontons (4) lo mein noodles, fried rice, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and some random veggie dish. That's SIX "scoops," of dinner for three for a whopping $9.00! That's right, 9 even. Apparently they round off the bill, but not the servings. Bottom line, the prices are amazing for you get. I have tried this ace twice now ordering different things. The food is relatively tasteless. They have no right to have Thai in the name of the restaurant! I ask for 5/5 Thai Hot and get a meal with no flavor and no heat....thousand island dressing is spicier than the Thai dishes they serve here. However they do give a slimy cup of Chili Oil to dump in your food for heat disgusting doesn't begin to describe it. For what it is, this place is quite good. It's a hole in the wall on a strip mall. As I was laid up in Swedish recovering from having twins, I didn't see the inside, but my husband, who has a knack for finding good food anywhere we go, walked over to get me some soup and some sesame chicken for himself. We were actually relatively impressed with the food we got. The portions are enormous and the flavors are decent. I had some egg drop soup that made me feel so much better from my bad reaction to some pain meds. Then a couple days later he went back and got more; for enough food to feed himself for two meals and me for a lunch, it was like $11. I had some wontons and they were on the sweet side but that's not a bad thing. Hot and sour soup was also pretty good.
