Best thai food there is in town. The employees and the owners are very humble and the food is amazing.

I was expecting more from this place based on all the reviews. It was my first time here, so I asked the waitress what was popular she mentioned yellow curry. So, I order the yellow curry. The curry is undercooked. All the vegetables are more raw than cooked. I am disappointed. I won't be returning here. I will say I tried their chicken pad thai and that was pretty good. read more

We had dinner here and liked it so much we came back the next day for lunch. The spring rolls were amazing. The vegetables are fresh and delicious. I had the pad thai and chicken satay. They were excellent. My husband had the sweet and sour pork which he said was dry but the flavors were good. The sauce was a little thin for his liking and vegetables that came with it were prepared well. We will definitely be back again soon. read more

I thought the place was ok. I made reservations but had to wait for a table for 15 minutes. The restaurant is small and tables are limited. The entance door to the restaurant closes ver slowly and everytime it was ioened there was a blast of cold air The service was slow although the server was very pleasant. I had a shrimp/vegetable dish with the steamed rice--I ordered medium hot and was just right. My daughter ordered Pad Thai with chicken and my husband had the steak salad. We ordered fresh spring rolls with the peanut sauce for appetizer and they were great. All in all, it was a nice meal but nothing spectacular. read more

I can't say enough about the food here! The pad tai was delicious, although not nearly spicey enough for my taste! I ordered a medium heat, but ended up asking for a side of " hot sauces " The server was very friendly and attentive; and our food arrived very quickly. Everything was hot and fresh. The Pad Thai lunch special is my favorite thing to order. It's a generous amount of food and very flavorful. I can't handle spicy foods so the level 3 spice is just enough for me to handle. This used to be our "go to" place for thai in Visalia . . . now we will never go there again. We always order the same thing....yellow curry and pad thai with thai iced teas. So we go this time and my curry comes out looking thinner than campbells soup and i take a bite and the potato is not cooked all the way, neither are the carrots, and the curry tastes like water. So since my bf and i had waited an hour outside to eat (they open up for dinner at 5, we thought it was 4) i decided to speak up even though i usually hate doing it. So i tell the lady the potatoes and carrots arent cooked enough, and the curry is really watery, She knows we always come in and i told her it doesnt taste right. So she takes it back and i hear her yelling in her language and comes back, no joke, not even 2 mins later with a "new" batch. How can you make curry that fast?!?! I recieve what looks like the exact same plate with even more gross looking chicken (very dark and not very good quality) and the same veggies, you could tell because the curry had already sunk in. What really made me mad is the tiny bit of rice they give you (that you have to pay for) like an ice cream scoop size, was already tainted by the "old curry" and she looks at it and says "here you go" and doesnt replace my rice. So no matter what Im going to taste this "old curry". So i get mad and finally try the curry anyway and it was exactly the same. So i just stop eating and she finally comes over and i ask her if we can just have my bf's plate to go? So she brings us a to go w/ the check and charged me for the curry!! and the rice!! So i go to the front and she says Oh i was gonna give you a discount on the soup....which was only 3.00!! Not even Im gonna take off the soup, just, im gonna give you a discount on the soup and were not even supposed to do that! I got so mad i said "Well i didnt eat any of that curry and im not paying for it". So finally she agreed to take it off, meanwhile telling us how much she isnt supposed to, and im pretty sure she is the owner lol. . . .never ever going back there again so if anyone knows of any other good thai places in Visalia lemme know!!! read more

the food is ok for Visalia. the Pad Thai was too oily and too spicy, even though we ordered it mild. The male owner is verifiably insane. He argued with me about one of the dishes and wouldnt stop even though I was paying for the entire dish. I don't recommend going there - ever. read more

Service is awful. Want some basic pad Thai and don't mind waiting? Fine, come here. But don't try calling for to-go on a busy night. They ignore the phone. So I drive there and they tell me to wait a moment. I finally walked out 10 minutes later. Not the waitress' fault, they were clearly under-staffed. Checked this place out because they offer many vegan options (most of the dishes can be made vegan, when you skip the meat and make sure there's no egg or fish sauce). We had the spicy fried rice and pad see ew which were both packed with flavor, and so, SO delicious. Would absolutely rate this place five stars, but the service is a little slow and we didn't get our drinks refilled throughout our meals. Excellent! We eat here at least 3 times per month. Baby Corn, Pad Thai, Spicy Fried Rice, Fresh Spring Rolls, Tom Young Koong Soup, Papaya Salad, and other dishes are great. I read quite a few of the comments that say the service is so-so but we would disagree, I would say the staff is quiet but always have been nice and efficient. Thai Basil is much better than Davorn's as Davorn's seems to be much greasier than Thai Basil. Excellent place to get take out. read more

We had a very nice dinner here. Both the owner and the young waitress were very attentive throughout our dinner. We had the spring rolls, which were refreshing filled with fresh veggies & the peanut oil sauce adds just the right amount of extra taste for this appetizer. The chicken pad Thai was delicious, with a 5 out of 10 spicy level. We obviously are not dare devils when it comes to spicy food and the 5 level was spot on for our liking. The pork/broccoli dish along with the seafood combination fried rice were equally tasty. The servings are large, as my wife and I were only able to finish off the pork/broccoli serving needing to box the other two dishes. Never eat here. We went for the first time with high hopes. We waited for 15 min to order. Only six out of eight tables were taken. 1 hour and 10 mins later I had to ask about our food. They said it would be ready in 5 mins. 10mins later we said we were leaving. They said we had to pay. I said no. They yelled out 'don't come back'. Wow!! We won't. Why would we? I had placed a to go order for some food. On our way there our dog got out and was hit by a car. We had to take him to an emergency vet. I received at least 50+ calls from the restaurant owner yelling and screaming at me cussing me out wondering why I did not pick my order up. Even after explaining to him what happened he continued to cuss me out and demanded his 37 dollars. Don't you think my family had gone through enough. I will NEVER EVER eat here again. Excellent Thai food. The hot and sour soup is very very flavorful and not too spicy (except at the end as the chilis sink to the bottom of the bowl). We had the green curry, the pad thai vegetarian and the hot and spicy basil, and all dishes were excellent. My favorite was the pad thai. All the food was relatively mild except for a stray chiili here of there which gave the food a kick. Make this a stop on your trip to Sequoia or Kings Canyon. You'll be glad you did. read more

I had Thai food for the first time at Thai Basil last night. The food was incredible. Never really been a fan of Basil or curry, but that all changed. this is the real deal. steve (the owner) and staff consistently produce amazing thai food, to your order and fresh. my wife (who is from india and evidently eats everything actually on fire) MUST have her food blazing hot -- no problem, once requested. steve drives to LA and San Francisco for the best ingredients, and it shows. the respect and adulation for tofu are evident -- most places butcher tofu dishes with no regard to quality. not here. three thumbs up! read more

Tom Yum shrimp soup is too thick, too salty, and too sweet. Perhaps more water/broth needs to be mixed in. Overall the Penang curry and drunken noodle (spicy basil rice noodle) are very delicious. Great service! read more

Thai Basil is an awesome restaurant! We come here at least twice a month and are usually helped by the manager. He has ALWAYS been really attentive, polite, and makes friendly conversation with my husband and all our family! I was shocked to read reviews that stated his attitude was negative and rude! Not something we can attest too. Now on to the food! The food here is consistently good!! We love the pad Thai, shrimp sweet & sour soup, fresh garden shrimp rolls, and the Orange chicken. Also, they have 4 different types of hot sauces at the table to add to your food! They are DELICIOUS!!!! If you're in a hurry, you can always phone in your food and eat at the restaurant. There has been a few busy Fridays were we've been able to reserve a table ahead of time. This is a really awesome little restaurant. I've brought in family and co-workers who loved the food, and are now regulars!! read more

This is some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Flavor and seasoning is simply outstanding. Steve the owner is the only chef and if time permitting he often visits with the customers after preperation of their meals. I have brought numerous friend over for dinner and they love the food.
