    Chicken siopao
    DrDuru A.

I love chicken adobo. Manila Good-Ha makes a solid, standard offering of chicken adobo. I also tried siopao for the first time. I had a chicken one. It was good, particularly with the sauce added. However, I still prefer the classic Chinese pork bao.

Lots of choices, they have combinations, snd lots of fingers food like okoy. Lumpia Chicharong Bulaklak and barbecue. They slso have a delicious ginataang Bilo bilo .The people works there are from Pampanga well known as the Culinary Capital Of The Philippines. They are very friendly and hospitable. The place is spacious and comfortable. I recommend checking them out.

Steam Rice, Sweet Longaniza and Pork / Veggie filled Tortang Talong = $16 and some change

Moved to the area and found this Local Carinderia. Great for variety and selection as I didn't expect to find meat filled Tortang Talong and saw Corned Beef and Kare Kare all mixed in the delicious looking trays. All looked fresh considering i came early morning. The Guys serving were super friendly and prices were fair as i have compared to other places in the area. Most importantly i was satisfied with the taste (original and nothing fusion or fancy) a full stomach with the price i paid. Thats important. Thanks to this place and I'll be back.

Filipino food craves - lechon kawali and pancit
    Cheryl M.

I've visited twice in the last month as I've been craving Chinese roast pork and Filipino lechon kawali which is deep fried pork belly. Sometimes you gotta get your grease fix as it's about that crunchy, crackling skin and juicy meat. Manila Good Ha Sa does a good one with a balanced ratio of fat to meat which makes it juicy and not dry. Ordered a combo with pancit and the noodles were good but a tad bland? Though I'd rather have that than too salty which I've had many times from the food stalls at Filipino markets. Their bbq chicken and pork skewers are perfectly done...not overly sweet, nice char and juicy. Service is super casual and a bit brusque if you're not familiar with items. A lot of yelling from the staff up front to staff in the kitchen while you're standing there. Awkward! The women are ok and no nonsense but the one male worker behind the counter (pony tail) was impatient and better suited to not helping customers. Grrrr... Place is dated and nothing fancy, with steam table items, and plenty of tables for dine-in from take out containers. Serves its purpose and will most likely return if the crave for lechon and chicken/pork skewers strikes again. Note: They offer a variety of pancit using egg noodles (Pancit Canton) or rice sticks (Pancit Guisado) and offer Filipino spaghetti (sweet sauce with hot dogs!) - sister loves it and said their version was good! Plenty of lot parking and located in the same shopping center as Seafood City

Pics of food on wall with prices of plates. Plastic containers show $ of servings...

Manila Good Ha Sa opened recently in New Luk Yuen's vacate space, replacing a partial Filipino eatery with a full time one. Manila's business revolves around offerings of traditional Filipino eats in a premade steam table format whereby patrons order whatever they desire to eat on a "to go" basis or they can eat in. Daily offerings dependent on availability of needed ingredients, thus no set menus. Pics of prospective dishes pictured on wall. Steam table items had no labels nor pricing. Some plastic containers had names & $$ posted. Went for a combo at the suggestion of a Filipino couple. Forgot names of what i usually like to eat. Managed to mumble something about peanut sauce & stew aka Kare Kare. Also went with Lumpia Shanghai. Came with 1/2 plate of semi-fluffy, unfirm white rice. 3.2 stars 16.06 with tax. Seem reasonable... Kare Kare is usually a stew of mixed meat parts: oxtails, goat, pig, beef etc. with veggies in a peanut sauce..seem i got pork & beef meats, little veggie. Sauce seem bland. Got a thimble of pungent fish sauce-like which i used to dip lumpia in instead of mixing it in the kare kare. Lumpia was mostly meat, not the veggies version. Didn't get any vinegar that usually went with it. Take outs: -had a reasonable good experience with help from a Filipino couple. Should have did more research as i usually do. -since Manila doesn't have a "menu", come with ideas of what to order. The usual traditional foods are available. *came to experience Filipino food month (April).

    Grand Re-Opening
    Kenneth L.

Manila Good-Ha!!! has moved from Island Pacific to the old New Luk Yuen space in Union City. I happened to pass by when I saw the Grand Re-Opening -- it had been a year since they closed and moved from their old location. I decided to drop in. The food was laid out cafeteria style in steam trays. You select what you want and pay upfront. I got a combo plus a side of Lechon. After paying, I got some swag -- a free bag. I decided to dine in. There were plenty of seats, and the interior had been renovated and repainted. The food was good as was the service. I shall come back to sample more of their food items.

Combo with sisig and dinuguan and side okoy
    Rona S.

I have been anticipating this re-opening for so long now! Manila Good-Ha moved from the old spot inside Island Pacific to the old New Luk Yuen Restaurant by Bank of America. I was sad to see NLY was no longer but excited for the re-opening. I used to go to the old spot back in the day so I am familiar with the taste. I saw the cook is still the same person so I don't anticipate much difference in the flavor. The space is definitely bigger and brighter than the old place. One thing I noticed was the floor was a bit dirty from the rain and fallen leaves. I didn't really get to take a good look on what they had or the prices, a couple of people were in line so I was a bit rushed by the staff. I picked a combo plate with garlic rice, sisig and diniguan and a side of okoy. I think everything was about $23. The dinuguan was so good! It was definitely my favorite in my plate. Tasted close to what I used to get in the Philippines. I love my dinuguan in the more sour side so this was perfect to me. Sisig was good, close to Kapampangan style so I appreciate it. The garlic rice was okay and okoy was meh, tofu instead of shrimp on it so I wasn't a fan. Overall I did enjoy my food, service was too fast, and the place is convenient!

    DoorDash Order
    Emil G.

I recently had a disappointing experience with an order I placed through DoorDash. I ordered enough food for three people since we were all feeling unwell, but when it arrived, three items were missing. This left us with just enough for one person, which was particularly frustrating given our circumstances. To make matters worse, there was no communication from the restaurant or the driver regarding the missing items or any updates about stock availability. It felt like the restaurant sent out the order without considering their customers' needs. Overall, I was left feeling irritated and dissatisfied with how this situation was handled. Effective communication is vital, especially when customers depend on restaurants for support. I hope they can improve their service in the future. I want to clarify that this isn't the driver's fault. I'm unsure how the process works for them, but I would have noticed that the food bag seemed a bit small if I were in their position. Anyway, I hope Manila Good Ha Sa takes better care of their customers moving forward. Thank you!

Binagooan with requisite white rice. Just meh to me.
    D.wight L.

I've been in several times even going back to their older spot by Island Pacific which was real divey. It was so divey then that I just couldn't spark up a review and maybe entice someone to go and try it. Now that they are in a newer spot which is much cleaner, I feel better about maybe getting others to try. Except that most times when I come here, the food is straight mid and never good/great. They are a pick and point steam table type of joint, so things are ready and super-fast. I guess my experiences here can be summed up as more for convenience than say pleasure. I can get a 2 item combo with rice for about $12 bucks, and it is usually 2 meals for me. Things tried: Pork Adobo (2.5*) Big hunks of pork but super big fibers in the protein, so not really that tender. Didn't care for the tang/soy ratio also, maybe even a tad sweet, which really isn't my jam. But Filipinos are pretty particular when it comes to this dish as almost every family will make it a tad different. And this wasn't it for me. Kare Kare (4*) One time I had it was really good and another time more meh, so not sure what the standard is here. First off it is more of country/peasant version as the protein fillings are big chunks of beef stew meat with fat/connective tissue attached, so when stewed long enough turns soft and gelatinous like tendon. And there's also tripe pieces that are nice, which is why I think you have to be from this culture or like culture to like their version. I just don't think one with American taste would get it. More premium versions uses oxtails or brisket so more familiar meats. That is not the version here. Decent peanut flavor though, though I always want more. Mungo (4*) This is their mung bean stew with chunks of pork, maybe dried shrimps and spinach leaves. Totally has split pea soup vibes, just done with another culture's flair. Not great but serviceable. Pork Binagooan (3*) Big chunks of pork again. Looked the part but the sauce didn't have enough punch for me. I guess I like a more prominent garlic and shrimp paste flavor and this was too muted for me. Chop Suey (2*) I got this once cuz this is a vegetable dish mostly of chopped veggies and just a little meat, and I was compelled to balance my combo plate with something more vegetative. The veggie part was decent but there were chunks of chicken in there that weren't good at all. I actually think that they shouldn't put any meat in this as it would be just fine. That chicken addition actually ruined it for me. Fish Paksiw (1*) Got this once as to try a fish dish and was sorely disappointed. First the broth was way too sour from vinegar. Then the actual fish (milkfish on the bone), which is actually legit, but this tasted off, like it was old or improperly frozen. I took one bite and had to spit it out. That says a lot. Lechon Kawali (2*) aka deep fried pork belly. I think because this is sitting out ready to go, that if affected my try. It was very dry and not as seasoned as it is normally. Maybe if you order a la carte, it may be a fresher batch, but for my combo, I wasn't digging it. Turon (4*) Fried egg roll with tropical bananas inside. Pretty decent rendition as there is also a glaze on the outside. These are by the register and I would try and get at least one for dessert. So definitely a swing and a miss for me. Just not the kind of Filipino food I grew up with. Not saying it is the same for everyone as they do seem to get a nice flow of regs in there. Just didn't do it for me, and I ain't mad at that cuz you simply cannot win em all.

I'm spoiled by having a Dollar Hits in SoCal literally down the street from me so I can't say this place compares, but it's at least an option for NorCal, you know? This definitely used to be another restaurant, but then retrofitted to be a grill. Super large grill in the middle for everyone to communally cook at indoors. This is a good combination between the outdoors grill it yourself and the indoors seating of both the SoCal Dollar Hits, so I thought that was nice. You can also order a side of rice and the sauces were self serve (made it a bit sticky). It gets a bit smoky in there even with the fans, but overall had an enjoyable time the time when I did visit.

It's the kind of snack you just can't stop eating. Just a reminder for anyone heading over: it's cash-only and currently takeout-only. The service is quick and straight to the point. If you need a massive tray of lumpia for a party or just a solid snack for yourself, this is the place to go!

They almost never answer the phone so it's best to just go in person and order for pick up. Just expect to wait a bit if you're going during the busier times of the days that they're open. It had been about a year since I last visited, and I was glad to see that prices hadn't changed at all. The highlight here for me has always been their lumpia--or at least, it used to be. It was once fried to golden perfection, with just the right amount of loose wrapper that gave extra-crispy edges (if you know, you know). Looking back at older photos, the lumpia had a noticeably deeper golden-brown hue compared to the lighter version I received this time, as well as seemed a bit longer in size. This made me sad; but it was still good, just no longer exceptional. In addition, the broasted chicken has always been just decent; the skin is great but the meat on the inside is always a bit dry and definitely requires some gravy or sauce to dip it in. Despite the lumpia switch-up, prices are still unbeatable for the bay, so I'd come back. I did notice that they seemed to have a new cook in the back, so here's to hoping that next time, the lumpia reverts back to the way it was!

We went yesterday because we had family visiting and wanted to treat them to an authentic Filipino meal. We spent over $200 and tipped well. They were happy with the food, and enjoyed the portions, but the service was pretty lacking. We were the only table there. The did not check on us at all. We had to ask for water to be refilled. When it came time to take food to go, we had to ask for the container, bags, and the right sized containers and the right sized bags. The older woman with the jet black hair was the one who rude and dismissive. When I asked her for a larger bag, she said that was the largest one. I pointed out that we gave them a very generous tip and that I see larger brown bags, but she still did not offer me one. She was very defensive, and said she thought I was referring to a plastic bag. Folks, don't make the mistake of over tipping here. You don't get the service you expect and deserve. The food is good though, but the service sucks! We spent, with the tip, about $240.

SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE: Service could use improvement. The server was not attentive and dismissive to my simple attempt to check on our order of steamed rice since our food was coming out at varying times. He had also stated he would come back to take drink orders, but never followed up. Their indoor decor is appropriate and appealing. They have indoor seating only. PARKING: Located in a shopping plaza, they have plenty of parking. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: We ordered a few of their skewers, all of which were just pretty average and lacked flavor and smokiness. Their garlic fries were simply topped with garlic, but not well dispersed throughout while the bbq beef ribs had barely any meat. The grilled oysters sadly also lacked flavor. Overall, with the subpar service and food, we won't be back.
