Set with Beef Bone Broth Base 招牌牛骨汤套餐
    Cece Y.

Delicious, heartwarming, and comforting soup! I usually order the bone broth with moderate spice, and it always hits the spot. The setup is cafeteria‑style: you grab a bowl and tongs, then move down the line choosing your meats, seafood, veggies, and noodles. Once you've built your bowl, it gets weighed and sent to the kitchen to be cooked. They also have a condiment station where you can mix and match sauces to your liking -- a fun touch that lets you customize your meal even more. Service is simple and straightforward; the staff brings your finished bowl to the table, and everything comes out hot and fresh. The restaurant is located in the Marina Market lot, which has plenty of parking, making it easy to stop by anytime. Highly recommended for anyone craving a warm, flavorful, and comforting bowl of soup.

Pre-cooked hotpot takeout delivery should be noted before I order.

This review is for takeout delivery service. I ordered Beef Bone Broth Base and stacked it heavily on the meats. Pricing is pretty reasonable and quality is above average. The pork intestines were not chewy and the meat portions were pretty generous. My only gripe with the order was that they precooked the meat and placed it in a bowl sized container, and then separated the soup base in another. That caught me off guard as I was expecting raw meats like you would at any other hotpot establishment. I suppose there are pros and cons to their decision to precook the meat for me, but I would have liked to have known they would do that or have the option of receiving it pre-cooked or raw since the doneness of the meat is kind of crucial to how good the hotpot will taste for peoples preference.

Loved the one in Milpitas so I wanted to try this location. The ingredients are still the same and you do get assigned a table once you reached the cash register. Once you've paid, you can visit the condiment bar to make your sauce (they didn't have sesame sauce when I was there which made me actually really sad). I got the tok yum soup base and it was creamy and delicious. It has a mild sour taste and a good level of spiciness. The cook on the food was decent as everything was just thrown in together (so some things were slightly over cooked). There was a lot more space in this restaurant than the Milpitas one, so the tables were pretty spaced out. The restaurant was clean and the decor near the front door was cute. Overall had a nice dinner there.

Mala Town is such a good find! Whenever I'm craving comfort food, especially when I'm feeling under the weather, this is my go-to spot for a customizable, build-your-own hot pot. Their tom yum soup really hits the spot. It is flavorful, warming, and just the right amount of kick. I also like the wide variety of ingredients, which makes it easy to tailor your bowl exactly how you like it. The place itself is very clean, and the service is quick and efficient. They also have a well-stocked sauce bar so you can elevate your bowl even more. Definitely a solid choice.

first time trying the Mala Town in Union City. the place looks pretty decent. nice and clean. it is the usual malatang where you get your own ingridients and let them cook it for you. I had the signature beef bone broth. the soup was really tasty and yummy. they have a variety of selection as well. the ingridients look fresh. the food came out hot and quick. the service is the reason why I only gave 4 stars. we had to wait in line for them to weigh and take our orders.

You pick what you like to eat and they would cook it for you. There are a couple of choices for soup base that you can choose. You will pay before they cook. They would come out fast, hot and delicious. The service was nice. The restaurant was big and comfortable for dine in.

This Mala Town feels cleaner and more refreshed than the Milpitas location. I liked the variety of options they had and the amount of sauces -- they have prickly pear oil which I liked! The pot itself was delicious and bone broth was always healthy and filling. I will be back.

Mala Town is one of my favorite malatang places. At $16.99/lb for a customizable pot with fresh ingredients, a decent sauce bar, great service, and complimentary iced tea, you can't go wrong! My pot usually comes out to $20-25 after being weighed and it is so filling. The process of ordering and being seated is quick even when it's busy. Basically you fill a bowl with your choice of veggies and meat, weigh, pay for the meal, then you're seated while you wait for your pot to be brought out with the broth. This is the perfect time to get water and make your sauce. After filling my bowl with my favorite ingredients, I usually get either the sichuan, hot beef, or tom yum broth to cook it in. The tom yum is considerably the most flavorful and it's what I would recommend for most people to order because it's by far the best broth, but it's not very spicy. If I'm craving a spicy pot I opt for the sichuan broth instead. So yummy, highly recommend!

I've been to this location twice and I love it! Super clean, organized, and friendly staff. Items are all stocked and they have great options I am a malatang addict and have probably gone to the Milpitas location over 30 times but recently moved closer to this location. I came on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too busy. Seating was easy and organized and we did not have to wait. The selections were huge and they seemed to have more options. Food came out piping hot but quickly. The sauce bar was clean and stocked up too. Overall, definitely recommend this location. Will be back!

A lot of variety in ingredients! Fresh veggies, mushrooms, and greens. I recommend the lotus root, cabbage, spinach, and enoki. For meats, you can't go wrong with their thinly sliced beef. My favorite broth is Tom Yum! Spicy and a little tangy. Super flavorful. I do like the Dry Mix, but only order this if you like a strong peanut butter-like sauce. It's thick and not your typical mala spicy oily sauce you would be used to (like at YGF).

My order: - Beef slices (2 medium scoops) - cabbage, bokchoy, meatballs, marinated egg, lobster ball, cheese fish cake, rice cakes - Broth base: Medium Bone broth - total weight: 1.8 lb Malatown is one of my go to places for a quick place to get hotpot! I love choosing my toppings and the meat right there and having them cook it for you. It came out pretty fast and the waiters bring the soup to you. I love that they have some sort of tea option, cold, and hot water. This place is great for a hangout with your friends! The ambiance was cozy and clean. I do wish there were some more sauce base options other than soy sauce like ponzu sauce or some sort of house sauce. Beef bone broth was perfect and is my favorite option here because it has a great mild taste and pairs well with everything. Medium spice is perfect for people who like a spice level like Korean red pepper paste!

Malatang has been my new obsession in 2025 and I'm so glad there is a Mala Town in Union City when I'm in this area. I love the variety of ingredients you can get whether it's veggies, seafood, meat, tofu, etc. my go-to broth is the signature beef bone broth (medium spicy) which offers just enough spice for a little kick and flavor but is still enjoyable (as someone who has a somewhat medium tolerance for spicy food). The sauce bar also has a good foundation of ingredients for a variety of sauces to pair with your soup. This location is super spacious and good for groups and even solo dinner dates. I've gone during the weekend around 4pm and 5:30-6pm and it's always been pretty popping, but in general I never had to wait for a table. I feel like the staff is pretty efficient. Obviously if there are a lot of people there might be a little wait to get your pot, but i feel like any wait was always reasonable. The establishment is also pretty clean. In general this Mala Town and the location in Milpitas have become my favorite places to go so I would definitely recommend.

Second time coming here and the service was night and day. I came here during their rush hour Friday dinner time. The line was pretty long but once I got to the cashier and paid for my item, it was only about 5 minutes before I got my bowl. Way faster than the first time I came here with no wait time and super long wait after paying. For those unfamiliar with Mala Town, it's a self serve create your own bowl with whatever ingredients then choose a broth at the end. I got their sweet and sour tomato broth since that's one of my favorites. Super flavorful. Only downside is the cost of the bowl will depend on how much it weighs so be wary. Also inside is well organized since they assign you a table so you don't have to worry about not getting a table during busy times.

Does the place take cash or is it card only?

Yes they take cash and card both.

    Do they take reservations?

No and most likely you don't need to unless you're planning for a lot of people

    How much per lb?

I think about $14/15 per pound

This may sound silly since spicy soup is the specialty, but are there any non-spicy broth options?

I tried Non Spicy Chicken broth before and it tastes great . Mushroom broth is non spicy too but does not have much taste .

Is the Tum yum broth chicken base?

Hi, spicy broth is beef base. Chicken is non spicy:)

Hello! I was wondering if you have no red meat soup base? I do not eat red meat but would love to try your food

Hi, Yes! We have different soups(non meat) you can choose. For example, tomato , mushroom, chicken soup. :)

Are any of the soup bases gluten free?

Hi, you can try our tomato soup base :)

Can I ask for beef broth with no spice?

Hi, we’d recommend you to order mild spice one which only has a slight taste of spice. However, the beef broth doesn’t come with 0 spice option. Thanks. :)

Will you be open the day after Christmas?

Yes. We will be closed during Christmas and will open the following day

Are there any vegetarian (No eggs, no chicken/beef/pork broth, no fish sauce, no seafood) or vegan options?

Yes. We have Tomato Broth which is vegetarian.

I can't have any msg. Is there msg in any of the food items or broth?

From M-F, 11:30am-2pm (closing) for just $19.90, you get to pick one of the ramen bowls, and one of appetizers that are listed (at half the size). Here's what we got: FRIED OYSTERS (5) - $12 This was not one of the appetizer options to the lunch specials but sis really needed her fried oysters, haha. This comes with a side of creamy sauce that tasted like a yummy potato salad. It was awesome! The fried oysters were very hot to be careful, and it was very much enjoyed even though it scraped the roof of my mouth, haha. TONKOTSU RAMEN - $16.95 Tonkotsu (Pork Broth) chashu pork, green onion, yellow onion, soft boiled egg, fried green onion, kikurage mushroom. I'm happy that we get a WHOLE egg and not just half! Everything about this bowl was so good and creamy! GYOZA (6) - $8 Chicken/Veggie pan fried post stickers. The lunch specials only come with 3 pieces, and I'm always happy when your savory finger food comes with a dip! No complaints here! KARAAAGE (6) - $10 Fried Boneless Chicken. The lunch specials only come with 3 pieces, but they are huge! Juicy dark meat pieces, with a nice creamy srirarcha dipping sauce! Also hot, so be careful! It just means it's fresh! They have a back room that was nice and quiet. You can smell the fresh clean laundry from the laundromat next door, haha. The service was great, and everyone was so nice and attentive. We enjoyed ourselves very much, and was happily full with leftovers to snack on later!

If it's your first time trying ramen and don't want to go too crazy, you can try this. It is very delicious, but if you've had regular tonkotsu ramen before, I highly recommend trying the Kuro or Aka! 5/5 - Kuro Tonkotsu Ramen - The black garlic oil really enhances the tonkotsu flavor in a smoky, umami way. If you haven't tried a black garlic oil broth, I highly recommend you try it here! You will not be disappointed. 5/5 - Aka Tonkotsu Ramen - My personal favorite of the ramen bowls we all tried here. The spicy level can be adjusted and was exactly the spice level we thought it would be (we chose Level 2). The flavor is a bit more elevated than the regular tonkotsu ramen, likely from the spice that you should not find too overwhelming. 5/5 - Chashu Don (Appetizer) - The rice and chashu makes this its own little meal and is super savory and filling...as an appetizer! This is great to share with your party, and it seems to taste differently from the chashu you get in your ramen. You won't regret trying this! 5/5 - Chicken Karaage (Appetizer) - The chicken in this dish was very juicy, and the portions were huge! The sauce they give also compliments this well. You won't be disappointed with choosing this for an appetizer.

Upon my arrival the kind host greeted me immediately and allowed me to take a seat. I was unsure of what to order and I had asked the host what to get and he positioned for me to try the coconut miso ramen and lemme tell you it was honestly one of the best bowls of ramen I've had. The broth was incredibly rich and velvety, with the coconut adding a subtle natural sweetness that complemented the deep umami of the miso instead of overpowering it. It created a balanced, layered flavor that was both comforting and surprisingly refined. Every spoonful had depth, and the broth was so good that I found myself wanting to finish every last drop. The noodles had an excellent texture, firm with just the right amount of chew--allowing them to hold onto the broth beautifully. The toppings were fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and blended seamlessly with the overall dish, adding texture and flavor without distracting from the star of the bowl. What impressed me most was how harmonious everything tasted. Fusion flavors can sometimes feel forced, but this ramen was exceptionally well executed. The coconut and miso worked together to create something unique while still respecting the traditional character of ramen. If you're looking for a bowl that's comforting, flavorful, and a little different from the usual tonkotsu or shoyu, I can't recommend the Coconut Miso Ramen at Tadamasa highly enough. The steak nachos: They use shredded mozzarella but I don't think it was enough. A lot of the chips were bare and the ones that had it were dried out. The guac and sour cream balanced it out. The tacos: We got asada, chicken, and buche. Your average yellow tortilla perfectly oiled and heated up. I do feel like they skimped on the amount of meat they put on the asada tacos and the quality of the meat wasn't the best as there was a lot of fatty pieces. The winning meat was definitely the buche. It was fried just right and had a lot of flavor. The chicken was also very well seasoned and juicy. The green salsa was superior to the red salsa. It had a good heat level that wasn't overpowering like the red one. I appreciated that they added the pickled veggies on the side. Overall, a solid taco and sope spot. I will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

Their portions are bigger than I expected, worth it! This is a fun spot to hangout with friends to grab a bite to eat and to watch a spots game or listen to and watch some Kpop MVs. The service is friendly and attentive, I came on a weekend lunch - dine in wasn't too busy, lucky me but I definitely noticed a lot of to go orders. Parking is easy because they're in a plaza, so no stress there.

SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE: Service could use improvement. The server was not attentive and dismissive to my simple attempt to check on our order of steamed rice since our food was coming out at varying times. He had also stated he would come back to take drink orders, but never followed up. Their indoor decor is appropriate and appealing. They have indoor seating only. PARKING: Located in a shopping plaza, they have plenty of parking. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: We ordered a few of their skewers, all of which were just pretty average and lacked flavor and smokiness. Their garlic fries were simply topped with garlic, but not well dispersed throughout while the bbq beef ribs had barely any meat. The grilled oysters sadly also lacked flavor. Overall, with the subpar service and food, we won't be back.

We started with the One Piece Mixed Salad (tofu skin, vermicelli noodles, woodear mushrooms, carrots, celery, seaweed, and peanuts, all mixed in a savory, acidic, and spicy dressed ) and the Shredded Potato Salad, both of which made for nice appetizers. We also had the Cold Skin Noodles (Liangpi), a bowl of wide, chewy noodles mixed with a savory sauce and topped with tofu puffs, shredded cucumber , bean sprouts, and a creamy sesame sauce. Hailing from Xi'an, the Braised Pork Pita Burger was fatty pieces of pork braised in a savory sauce, served in a dry round of "pita," but even better was the Spicy Cumin Lamb Pita Burger, which contained a tantalizingly spicy, flavorful filling of tender spiced lamb. The Signature Beef Bone Noodle Soup came with noodles in a simple broth, topped with three bone-in beef ribs. The meat on the ribs was rather tough and sinewy, and the soup on the bland side, but the presentation of the dish was definitely impressive. Finally, the House Special Braised Dry Noodle was a bowl of noodles topped with a savory sauce with lots of different dried ingredients including tofu, s mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and red bell peppers. For each noodle dish, you could select from a variety of noodles, but my favorite by far was the 2cm "General Wide" noodles, which had an amazing chewy texture. Overall, this was a great restaurant for authentic Northern Chinese noodle dishes and other eats. Everything came out from the kitchen in just minutes after we ordered. The tasty dishes came at a good value, and the service was super friendly too!

There seems to have some menu change since the last time we came. We ordered 2 dry noodles and a cold spicy pig ears appetizer. The pig ears were piled up with no fillers - something hard to find these days. You can select the type of noodles so I picked the widest while my husband picked the middle one. I love the el dente texture of the noodles giving it a bit of chew. My braised pork belly dry noodles was not dry... very watery which was not to my liking. I want my dry noodles with as little gravy as possible. The flavor was light despite all the gravy, but the veggies and one egg made it up. The house special dry noodles had just the right amount of gravy for taste but not enough ingredients. I was wondering why the restaurant is called One Piece... I guess the entire bowl of noodles is one piece noodle as it was hard to eat as all the noodles are tangled. No complaints here just need to be careful with the splashes on your shirt. Overall the food was good, service was decent as we were offered actual menu instead of only using QR code to order. The place was not small with plenty of table. A bit noise as with all Chinese restaurants.
