I really like this restaurant and eat here probably once a month. Their yellow curry is sooo good! So is their pineapple rice. My wife like the Pad Thai, it I find the noodles too rubbery. Solid Thai food. NW 23rd Ave is strip full of funky shops and great restos and as such had great after-work specials on their drinks and some dishes. I came here for dinner one evening since the place I was staying at is a short walk away and I was investigating 23rd Avenue. I opted for their beef larb salad and shrimp Pad Thai. Very, very good and service is quite fast all things considered. My understanding is that they do a lot of takeaway service and I certainly saw a lot of people coming for that but I also saw quite a number of people sitting in taking their time and having dinner here as well. The spice index isn't off the charts but it definitely has a kick to it. It's a pretty decent neighborhood place for dinner. read more

Came in during happy hour (3:30-5:30pm daily) The HH food and drink selection was extensive. Fair portions for the price. The waitresses were also all so smiley and kind and frequently checked up on us to make sure everything was going well. The spicy wings and the pad Thai were my favorite. Pad Thai noodles had a really nice chew and texture to it and the flavor was not lacking either. The spicy wings were extremely crispy, not too spicy so everyone can try it with no problems. I wasn't a fan of the beef salad, to me it tasted a bit plain and nothing special. I'll definitely come back next time and try the papaya salad instead. Checked in on yelp for the free homemade coconut ice cream and it was the best coconut ice cream ever. It definitely tasted like real and non artificially flavored and not too sweet either. This is solely for take out. I'm pretty surprised by the glowing reviews, as my experience was pretty different. Ordered via Doordash, and the food arrived well packaged and ready to eat. Had the following and threw out most of it after one day: Pad Thai: Sickly sweet and not very good. Something was very off about this dish. It was very one note and quite honestly not very good. Chicken with basil: This is one of my fave Thai dishes. Its pretty standard, but usually so full of flavor. Thai Bloom's version was super greasy and very off putting. It was difficult to eat and was tossed out after that night. Green curry with tofu: The only thing I liked. The curry had a nice kick to it (I'm kind of a wuss when it comes to spicy foods and thought this was perfect). Would definitely order this. I found the meal super disappointing (aside from the Green curry) and tossed out most the next day. Glad I tried it, but wouldn't order again or dine in the restaurant. I've had a lot of Thai food but this by far is the best! We were pretty upset that we were too early for happy hour but I'm so glad that we stayed. We ordered the calamari, which was actual calamari and not those giant rings that you usually get at Thai spots. The calamari was so freaking good and the portion was perfect for 2 people to share. I had the green curry Salmon and it was the best green curry I've ever had. My best friend had this really interesting but delicious soup with a pink fish based broth. I wish I can give 3.5 stars. Nothing I had here was bad, they are just not particularly good either. Given the high reviews, I had high hopes. Came here for lunch at around 12:30. The restaurant is about 75% full. The service was not super fast. The waitress was nice and friendly though. I ordered the spicy wings and Pad See Ew. The spicy wings was a little over fried, to the point that it was a little difficult to get meat off the bone. The sauce with shallots was good though. I also liked the pickled daikon that came with the wings. The Pad See Ew was presented beautifully. It also came with abundant vegetables - broccoli, Napa, Gai Lan, and cauliflower. The flavor was underwhelming though. Thai food is all about the delicate balance among sweet, salty, spicy, and umami. But this dish was overly sweet. The sweetness overpowered the other flavors. It was also overly greasy. I had to leave my last bit of noodles because they are basically submerged in grease. read more

This place has a lot of good reviews so I went with my mom while she was visiting from out of town. This was her last meal here before her flight back. We got the pad Thai and spinach curry as recommended by the waitress. The curry was greasy but not awful tasting. The pad Thai was burnt and full of pieces of burnt tomatoes, and it had cauliflower and asparagus ends in it. Very strange and disgusting. Sauce was a burnt tomato sauce. Made us instantly sick. We mentioned it and we're told the manager wasn't there. Didn't really care, told us lots of people order it and like it. Hopefully others don't experience what we did. Update: spent the following day i credibly ill from their food. Avoid this place like the plague. They probably prey on tourists who don't know any better. Literally any other place is better. This place is located in the trendy 23rd district. There are a few free parking spots in the back after 5:30 pm. We visited early (5:30) for dinner and scored one for them. The place has ample seating and is very clean. Happy hour ends at 5:30 which is a bummer because we just missed it. After reading others review about the free coconut ice cream with yelp check-in, my hubby and I both did ours with the server at our table. It is true folks. You get free ice cream at the end of your dinner (if that's when you choose to get it!) They even bring you a warm wash cloth at the end to wipe your sticky paws. I ordered the drunken noodles from all the raved reviews here, in Yelp and I was NOT disappointed. They were delicious and the portion was so big that I had lunch leftovers for the next day, another score...yes!!! But we before we had dinner we ordered their rolls, I call them spring rolls -- you know, the ones wrapped in rice and not deep fried? Ya, those ones. The peanut sauce was perfect, not too thick and not too runny. The rolls themselves were very tasty. They were way smaller in size than any other Thai restaurant I've been but very good. My husband ordered the crispy duck. They misheard him and brought curry duck. I was almost done with my dinner before his meal came back out. The duck is served with a too sweet sauce and some steamed rolls and rice. The duck was too over cooked. I felt bad and kept offering my leftovers but he kept eating his meal. Probably because it was $23. The servers were attentive and courteous as well. I loved this place and will return. I only gave four stars because of my hubby's experience. Have to give 5 stars just for their service We weren't sure if dine-in was allowed so we ordered online for pickup. When we reached there we saw dine in was allowed and we were 4 adults with 2 kids, so they were so helpful in allowing us to sit and eat the takeout food. Not all places allow that. Given it was chilly day with two kids, we weren't feeling safe to eat outside but we were hungry and our hotel was few hours away. So kudos to their service. While in the Pearl/23rd area, we stumbled across this place around 3pm on a Tuesday. There was only one other table being occupied when we arrived and when we left. They have quite a large open dining area. Seemed like they had more people on staff than might be necessary, but being my first time here, maybe we hit a weird dead time. We were sat quickly, and our orders taken. We got salad rolls, Pad Thai, and spicy chicken and basil to share. For drinks, we ordered a Thia Iced tea and a Sapporo. Our salad rolls came out quickly. The sweet and sour sauce was quite delicious and enjoyable. The peanut sauce seemed too sweet for me, and not as flavorful to my friend. Our entrees came out quickly after, without out beverages. We dug into our food, waiting for our beverages. They forgot about them, we had to ask for them. Once we got them, the Thai Iced tea was floral and tasty. The Pad Thai was alright, not crazy flavorful. And the Spice Chicken and Basil was full of flavor and spice. The service could have been better, having so many staff on and so little patrons. Even paying our bill, we felt kind of forgotten. A huge bonus, if you check in on yelp, you get a free coconut ice cream which is a nice touch. The yellow curry puffs were good as well they were sweet, and very tasty, however you only get 3 in the appetizer, but they are filling. The pad see ewe was good, but I have had better. I felt like the noodles were over cooked, but it was still good to eat. Nice amount of veggies and tofu. If you check in on yelp you get free coconut ice cream. I had the beef rice stir-fry (with brown rice) one day and the drunken noodles (with chicken) the next day. The first was first-rate, the second somewhat disappointing, the quantity being on the modest side. Sitting outside is one of the most appealing things about this Thai Bloom. Afterwards one can meander 23rd & 21st N.W. in the Nob Hill district, Portland's Greenwich Village (without the oppressive urban pulse of its East Coast counterpart). The music's a little too contemporary pop-disco. Something Thai-infused would be a welcome breath of fresh air, audio speaking. Either that, or a hike up the hill to the Japanese and Rose Gardens. A bit over dressed but fresh and tasty. I would come back for this --pad Thai--abundant serving with lots of veggies; not sweet but lacked spice and flavor; noodles were clumpy and over cooked --drunken noodles--arrived tepid but offered good flavor, if a bit sweet. Again, generous serving Nothing sang here--it wasn't awful and it wasn't great. We ate quickly and didn't linger. Overall a great restaurant with a very clean and modern interior, with plenty of seating. We came on a weeknight and found seating immediately. The menu serves typical traditional/americanized Thai food. We ordered a myriad of dishes for our party of 5, so got to try multiple dishes. The pad thai was honestly ok, it wasn't too flavorful for some reason, the sweet and savory tastes of fish sauce and soy sauce were lackluster. Although, the ingredients in all the dishes seemed fresh ans bountiful. They definitely give you good portion sizes here. We also tried the fish dish (cant remember the name), tom yum soup, pineapple fried rice and the sauteed string beans. These dishes did not disappoint, and my favorite was the fish dish that came with two different sweet/sour dipping sauces. The reason I say this because the yellow curry is $15.99 plus of course all the fees racked on from DoorDash I'm paying quite a bit already and the portions I use to get were pretty beneficial for me as I could have about 2-3 meals out of it (I eat small portions) I received my order today and same price $15.99 and the portion I received was significantly cut w/ maybe 4 small thin slices of chicken. Granite I get inflation and things going up in price. But your prices are already set pretty high & only receiving 4 pieces of chicken and portion size cut in half that's why Im now leaving a review of 3 instead of 5. Some faint off flavors from the fryer oil, which was probably getting close to needing a change. 2 stars Ahi larb. Yum! 4.25 stars. Great flavor profile, wonderful spicing, but overwhelms the tuna.
