This was our first time coming here and it was kind of disappointing. We ordered pho, cream cheese wonton and pad Thai. The service was really slow and the pho had way more broth than noodles or meat. It was also kind of pricey for what you get. The only thing I like was the cream cheese wonton. Thai cafe2 was across the street from our hotel so we chose it for dinner. The only waitress was bustling, serving all the tables as it was busy. The restruant was clean and the noise level with average. There were lots of selections available. My husband chose the pineapple fried rice and I had the rad na with chicken. Both servings were very very large. I was unable to finish mine. There was lots of chicken and broccoli as well as noodles. my dinner was served in a bowl and it was more soupy then I am used to. We came here for an early dinner. First time coming to this restaurant, although I am a local. We ordered steamed potstickers for appetizer and two dinners. The potstickers came out with a little cup of sauce for dipping. My partner dipped his potsticker in the sauce and when he pulled it out, a dead roach came out of the sauce. We were just beyond grossed out. We showed it to the waitress and got out of there as quick as we could. It was just the most disgusting thing ever. As we were discussing the incident our feelings on it got worse if that's at all possible. Like, how many dead roaches are in that sauce? Is the kitchen pulling them out of the sauce before they put the sauce in the little cups? Clearly, the container that holds the sauce is sitting out, uncovered. Seriously... We came to Joshua Tree to celebrate a friend's birthday on a holiday weekend(12.28) , which meant large crowds and busy restaurants . We came here hoping to enjoy a meal. Our party of six walked in and were immediately and rudely told there was no room for us, I'm quoting the server " theres no room for you." We weren't asking to all sit together and were happy to be flexible- especially since we had been out exploring Joshua Tree all day and were hungry . There were a couple of empty tables, yet we weren't given a chance to explore our options. No greeting, no kindness, just dismissal. Being busy doesn't excuse being unkind and unprofessional. Craving Thai food and wanted to get the basic Pad Thai and Pad see Ew. So I came here to order the two to go. I was so excited to eat but the first bite of the Pad Thai was disgustingly bland. How does one mess up the basic dish such as Pad Thai? There are no words that can describe how horrible it was. The Pad See Ew was somewhat decent at least. Barely any teriyaki sauce and the best part.... The veggies or veggie I should say was ice berg lettuce, which would have wilted had the dish itself been hot. The brown and white rice were fine. I've lived here 25 years and have seen this place change several times. With the last owners, I went only twice mostly only because of slow service. Great food, great service. Then they got a "B" rating that didnt' go away and I stopped going. When I heard this changed hands, I knew I wanted to try it out again. Went last night and had hesitated - even had a Plan B to back out if we got bad service off the bat - because of the contrasting low ratings and reviews. Interesting the reviews seem to be either five star or one star, pretty much. hmmm. Well, when I got there, I saw and "A" rating. Good start! My friend and I enjoyed very personable and prompt service and very tasty food in large portions. I had the Tom Yum soup and my friend had the Panang Curry. I never have given a poor review. My husband was not doing well so we wanted to get Some Won Ton . We hadn't gone here for several years but they used to have the Best War Won Ton. Today, just four days from this restaurant's opening, I am dining on a coconut, lemon grass chicken soup called Tom Kha. I've been spoiled in my life to have eaten this soup for forty years, and in that time, I've had some good ones. What I cannot believe is that I could get good Tom Kha next to the Stater Brothers in Yucca Valley, Ca. Is it because all the people head out from L.A. to glamp and Airbnb near the local national park? Maybe. Is it because so many of the soldiers from the local base have spent time in Thailand? Maybe. Whatever the reason, here I am eating fish cakes and feeling embarrassed that Nop keeps putting his hands in a prayer gesture and bowing to me. I am older than he is so I'll just attribute it to that. I ordered the fish cakes because I know that's a deal breaker. If you can't make good fish cakes, you shouldn't be serving Thai food. I ate every last one. Superb. I drank every last drop of my soup. My mission is to master Thai cooking before I ever sun myself on the beaches of Phuket. Ordered takeout with the old Thai & Lao number. I guess this is why they didn't have wings heh. Yellow Curry was the thinnest curry I've ever had with a watery consistency and a bit harsh. Green peppers added in Yellow Curry is a little odd. Not enough rice given how runny it was. Tom Kha soup had a solid base but was watery and too sour because it also lacked coconut milk. It also had cabbage (???) in it that didn't work very well. Luckily we had a can of coconut milk on us and doctored both dishes. Aside from the curry still being a similar consistency to the Thom Kha both dishes were adequate, but they at $13-16 each I shouldn't have to fix them. Maybe non soup/curry dishes are ok? Don't order anything that needs coconut milk. Judging by someone's experience a few days ago this isn't a one off, they're seriously skimping on ingredients. read more

We love the one in 29 Palms, so we were all excited when we found out they opened a second place here in town. But I don't think it's as good as the one in 29. Going to give them time to settle in and will try it again. Ordered the panang chicken. They put frozen peas and carrots from a bag in there and they were still cold. Just didn't have the good flavor that the original place has. Husband wasn't thrilled with his meal either (I can't remember what he even ordered). I had lunch there yesterday and ordered the Pho. Prior to placing my order the waitress was sitting a a both talking on her cellphone. After a few minutes she walked over and dropped off a menu and just walked away. She did not even have the courtesy to say hello or would you like something to drink. About 10 minutes I had to wave my hand to get her attention as she was still preoccupied talking on her cellphone. She walked over and took my order and at that time I asked for water with lemon. A short time later she brought my food but no water. I had to request it again. After I finished my meal I move my bowel to the center of the table so she would see that I had finished. I waited 10-15 minutes and no sight of her. I had to get up and go look for her only to find her hiding behind the partition talking on her cellphone. Quaint little thai restaurant right next door to a supermarket. Ordered a salad and 2 other dishes. The salad was ordered "medium" but came out super spicy. The other dish was ordered medium spice and the last one was ordered mild. Both of our entrees were not spicy. So, overall it was medium if you make the salad super spicy and the other two dishes bland. No alcohol options. We asked if we could bring our own alcohol in but were told no so we just had water. There's not a lot of asian food options in Yucca Valley, so they have to put up with just OK quality. Unfortunately, we bought some groceries at the supermarket before dinner and the back of the receipt from Stater Brothers was full of coupons for $ off at this restaurant. We spent over $50 on our dinner and could have saved $10 if we would've shown the waiter our grocery receipt. At least they don't charge you for using you credit card here. One extra star. Asked if they could correct their mistake both the person who took the order and owner refused to accept or even correct their mistake. Pineapple fried rice is good but lacking pineapple and raisins which make it a pineapple fried rice. The flavor is good but totally lacking in ingredients. If I ordered pineapple rice I would at least like to see a pineapple. Their fried tofu is very good. But as another Yelper stated the pad Thai is a joke. Do not order!
