Amazing food! I have not had luck recently at finding a good Thai restaurant, and I finally did! The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. The food: Thai Iced Coffee: 5/5, at most Thai places, their iced coffee is either a hit or miss. This place is a definite hit! It was not too strong or too sweet, and it was very smooth and creamy. Great iced coffee for a hot, Antelope Valley day. Chicken Satay: 5/5, probably some of the best chicken satay I have ever had. The chicken was marinated perfectly and the peanut sauce was amazing! Best appetizer! Spicy Fried Rice (chicken): 4/5, the flavors worked together very well and the vegetables were fresh. Not the best fried rice I've ever had but pretty darn close! Red Curry (chicken): 5/5, amazing red curry! The bamboo shoots and bell peppers and basil were sooo fresh and cooked perfectly. The curry itself was insanely flavorful and the touch of coconut milk was perfect. Great red curry! Fried Bananas: 5/5, I hate bananas, as I find them too mushy and gross. These fried bananas were excellent though! The dough was sweet and just a little crisp. The bananas were fried perfectly and the powdered sugar on top, yum! Great dessert. Service: 5/5, I'm pretty sure our server's name was Kitty, and she was a sweetheart! She was attentive and kind. The other employees were very good as well. First world problems. When we started going to Thai Cafe many years ago, I never wrote a review because the service was TERRIBLE! They were always out of egg rolls, you know the deal, they had them once, we fell in love with them and then they never had them again. When I say the service was bad, like one time my husband and I were sitting there saying, "Why do we come here? The service is always so bad." Then our food arrives, we take one bite and we're both, "Oh yea, this is why we come here. The food is frickin' delicious!" So then about a year ago we were there and the waitress was so good. She was nice, attentive, helpful. We looked at each other, "Oh crap! Does this mean the food will be awful?" It was not! The food is still wonderful and now the service is too. It's such a bonus. Now we can take friends and family there where as before we wouldn't because well, I don't need my mother in law complaining about the service so we'd go somewhere else. Not anymore! Great food! I am soooo disappointed!! 1st. I ordered crab fried rice and only got 2 DRIED UP PIECES OF CRAB! I took videos and pictures because I am in disbelief that they would call what they sent me "Crab fried rice" 2nd. I order cheese wontons and I couldn't believe it! We were standing right in front pulling on a locked door, so we tried calling to place an order. Always busy so ordered thru Yelp for pickup. Said 45 minutes 'til ready. Restaurant called to confirm the order and told us to go around back for pickup. When we got there, Hubby noticed the sign that said orders over $50.00 would receive free egg rolls. I asked one of the workers about the free-be along with telling him the name on the order. We're here. First, he says we don't 'qualify' for the free-be unless it was thru Grubhub. I ordered online which what the promo sign said. And, he informed that it would be at least an hour for the order. So we waited. Just hanging out in the car, parked in view. For the next 65 minutes we watched as cars rolled thru and got their food. Many went through during that hour. We drive closer and ask for an update around 75 minutes in. They're wrapping it up and will be out shortly. 15 minutes later, they brought the bags 90 minutes from initial order. We expressed our frustration, especially with the cascading arrival time and were told it was the dinner rush and they must put less than hour for delivery commitments on places like Yelp, grubhub and others. Overall the food was warm and the shrimp fried rice eater said it needed salt/soy sauce. Spring rolls decent but have had way better at Pho Stop and Kirin Hut. Potstickers good fried but steamed ones were 'wetter' (for lack of a better word) than others. Soggy maybe better. Also ordered the Green Curry XXXXXXXX Spicy. It was not that Spicy. Empty restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. Food is basic in taste (except the chow mien. It was too salty). Service was poor. The reason I am giving this restaurant 1 star is because the food was adequate, portions are small in comparison to other places, took forever to order and get serviced, & they are stingy with commodities. If you order a Thai tea they serve 3/4 of ice and 1/4 of actual Thai tea. Then when I asked for less ice i was told i would have to pay about $1.50 more for less ice!? I spent $75 and when I asked for less ice I was told that I would have to pay $1.50 more for each drink. It was made into such a big deal. When I asked for my money back on the drinks the cashier said she couldn't. That she would have to refund he entire transaction and it would be too difficult. Food is really good here, Thai is staple food of what I like when I dine out and they have a really good Wonton Soup that outshines other Thai places I like. I love this place, been eating here for 3 years,but I must ask the sense in putting piping hot food on a bare styrofoam plate. My entire dish tasted like plastic. A piece of wax paper or SOMETHING would help. Styrofoam fried rice is basically what I got& keep getting Their food normally tastes great, but today and the last few times, plastic, hot & seasoned melted plastic,smh I couldn't even eat it. I think Thai Café is for reals the only Thai restaurant in town. They are also one of the best you will ever eat at. Some of the negative reviews on here are unfair. I have never had a bad dish here. Laced with sugar from the soup to the main course and of course the dessert. Never never order a Vietnamese spring roll from a Thai place. The peanut dipping sauce was weird and pasty and sweet (again) so I asked for sweet chili sauce which they charged me and it's like an orange paste with sugar so I mix it with vinegar to counteract the sweetness and boy even the vinegar was different. Sour water. What else could go wrong in this place. I don't want you to close your business but kindly make things better. But again kudos to our server. We waited to be seated, 2 servers saw us and ignored us waiting and I understand they were busy but not even a greeting. I'm gonna start with the only con I've experienced, they take forever. With Covid, my order is always on time, but normally 30 minutes means 40, but I think it's because they're so popular, and usually busy. This is my favorite Thai place in the AV, although I like all the others as well. I believe for me the staff takes them for the win. Everyone is always super nice, and they always get my orders right. My family's favorites are as follows: Pad Thai, Lover's Honeymoon, Wonton Soup, Fried Tofu, Tapioca Pudding. I've had some of their curries, appetizers, and other soups; they're all delicious, but we stick to our core menu. They have vegetarian options, and most things can be made vegan, but mention it, because they tend to add fish sauce to most things. read more

We had a party of 5, my wife is on a diet and packed in her own food. She was told by the waitress that they do not allow food to be brought in and consumed. So she put the food back in her lunch cooler. The waitress then came back and said the food could not be in the restaurant. So my wife took it to the car and ate, but then as we were leaving, they told us about this unbalanced customer that was leaving, that he brings in ice cream and eats it at a table. That being said, my fried rice was bland and had a smell of dishwater, the level 5 hot sauce was barely spicy. The soup had a pungent smell and was okay. I used to go to this place religiously, but it seems like everytime I go, it only gets worse and worse. Since I am a vegan, I have very limited places as to where I can go and eat. Thai Cafe was on my top 3. They had great tasting food, great service and awesome lunch specials. Seems like the food is not as flavorful as it used to be. The last three times I went, all food was very bland and it took way too long to get our drink order. Also, service is really slow. They are understaffed and seems like they are doing nothing to fix that. From being seated, to putting your order in, to getting food, and then the check, it is all too slow. This was the worst experience ever! It was stifling hot they ended up opening the front and back door. Everyone in the place started coughing out of control! I thought we were gonna leave as something is very wrong. They said it's because they were cooking spicy foods...the air filter should be taking care of all that issue before reaching us in the dinner area.
