Thai Chef nestled in the back of Jack in the Box gave me a reason from now on to park my rig in town as an off duty option. Usually, with Kingman, our semis just stop in town for fuel and off we go. There's no incentive to designate this place as a resting point...but like I said, having found this literal hole in the wall while walking alongside the truck stop curb, I gazed into the distance and thought I saw an abandoned Thai restaurant. Little did I know this humble depressing looking exterior of a building was hiding a rather authentic Thai Chef inside. You walk into this place and you instantly forget you're in Kingman...the strong A/C, the mellow piano melodies in the background, the cafe coffee shop bakery interior decor, well lit in every angle, and the exceptional Thai hospitality that greets you as you walk in. That contrast would be as if you were in the Mad Max universe, and you opened a random door and walked into a Japanese nursery by the coast in a Studio Ghibli screen shot. Based on other Yelp reviews I waited a while to try this place, however I'm glad we finally made it there. It's located just off the main road behind Jack in the Box and has ample parking. The inside consists of a few booths and tables, which by the end of our dinner was almost full. We were greeted upon entering and given a few minutes to look over the menu. We ended up ordering Pad Prik Khing with shrimp (hot), Garlic Pepper with Chicken (hot) and egg rolls. Our food was up relatively fast, however the egg rolls arrived just before our entrees, so it would have been nice to have that spaced out a bit more. The egg rolls were crispy and piping hot. They were a solid egg roll and served with a sweet chili sauce. I was confused when our entrees arrived as she said mine was Pad Prik Khing but then mentioned something about ginger. I'm fine with both, so while I was looking forward to Pad Prik Khing, I wasn't going to make an issue over it. My fiance and I both enjoyed our entrees. They were both flavorful and while we both ordered our spice level at hot, my dish was definitely spicier. That was fine for me as I like spice. I think the Thai hot would have been fine too, but our server said it was really hot. Again, the only negative was my dish being wrong, otherwise it was a really nice dinner and a place we will likely try again- maybe this time I'll get my Pad Prik Khing! read more

We had such an unfortunate experience and we didn't even get to try the food. We walked in and no one was there to greet us we ended up choosing a table and sitting our selves. The table we sat at was dirty and a few of the other tables were dirty as well. I planned on asking the waitress to wipe it down but 10 minutes passed and no one came to our table. The food is amazing! The shrimp they use in their seafood dishes are HUGE and savory. My husband was hoping for more sear on his scallops, but otherwise, our meals were fantastic! They even pack up your left overs for you. It really is that little extra bit that makes the difference. Our only issue was when it came to the bathrooms. It smelled of the paint, so that needs to be aired out before having people use it. The people are nice, food is delicious, and it was within walking distance of the truck stop we stayed at in Kingman. Lots of wins here. We will be back. read more

My family and I stopped here on our way back from the Grand Canyon.... The food is absolutely phenomenal!! We ordered: Yellow Curry Chicken, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Chicken Satay, and sticky rice with mango.... Every single dish was delicious! And their Thai ice tea's are fantastic too Nice service everyone was very friendly and food was freshly made. We started getting food within 10-15 min after ordering. Okay so anytime a new restaurant opens in Kingman a friend and I go check it out. This Thai place is in an odd spot behind Jack in the Box but don't let that deter you from trying it out. First, the inside is very sparsely decorated and could really use a better infusion of some color and culture. We were also unclear about whether we were supposed to seat ourselves or not open entering. We were eventually seated and we both got water to drink though there's a variety of beverages to choose from. I ordered the other chicken while my friend got shrimp with glass noodles. My chicken was fried to perfection and was light, moist, and crispy but didn't have much of the bold flavor you expect from orange chicken. The veggies it came with were just okay, some of the carrots were a little undercooked. My friend loved hers and gave it 5 stars. The service was also good with our water always being full, the wait staff were friendly even when there was a misunderstanding with the bill, and then were welcoming. All in all I probably won't go back because of my experience, but my friend will definitely be back. read more

Sweet Thai woman inside, nice and well kept restaurant. Definitely a hidden gem of Kingman and a very short and easy walk from Flying J for the fellow truckers (worth the 5 min walk)! I was looking at the wontons as an appetizer but was undecided and was recommended the dumplings and they DID NOT disappoint!!! Same with the orange chicken, crispy exterior and with soft quality chicken inside with an authentic style sweet orange sauce (none of that panda glaze garbage). My Mother-in-Law is Vietnamese and moved to the US in her 20's so I know authentic when I see it, and this is true to its form authentic style Thai!!! Update.. they fixed the smell, updating to 5 stars!! Original review .. I recommend take out, when you walk through the door you'd think it was a kennel. I spoke with the owner and mentioned maybe an ozone generator would rectify the issue. Being a huge fan of Thai and since it's new we still decided to get the food to go. The vegetables were very fresh, a good amount of meat to the dish and very flavorful. I ordered the garlic pepper with chicken two star loved it! The lo-mien needs more juice or flavor, probably wouldn't get that one again. I hope they can fix the smell read more

Before this past Saturday night, the last time we visiting Thai Chef was last Christmas when we had a fabulous food, service and unexpectedly entertainment. Unfortunately, our last visit was disappointing. Early on I caught a telling vibe, the dirty table, a disoriented server, who appeared confused, not having an adequate understanding of English, and slow or inattentive. Although we were told that Thai ice coffee as not available, which I rated one of the best, if not the best, in town. Later, after our food was delivered, a different server told us it was available, but it took time for it to be served. Most disappointing was the overcooked Chicken Satay and skippy amount of cucumber salad. Our go-too dishes Drunken Noodles & Pat Thai were amble & hot temp wise, the disappointing appetizer damped my enjoyment. What might prevent me from visiting Thai Chef an again in the near future was the $50 for two people bill. read more

Driving through town & had the luck of stumbling into this place. The best crab wantons I've ever had! They were fresh made, the perfect amount of filling & the wrap was light, crispy! Theres a awful smell of sewage in the dinning area, service was slow. Our appetizer had to send back cause the pork was raw. The entrees were fine but came out separately about 10 minutes apart. Its nice it was made fresh but they werent "amazing" for the price and time it took. a $2 fountain drink of soda with no free refills. I under stand for the special Thai tea but for a fountain drink that is between 5-10 cents per glass with a machine needs to be posted in the menu. Good was delicious and fresh. We got yellow curry with tofu, pad woon sen with tofu, and spicy seafood stir fry. Both the stir fry and the curry came with a generous scoop of white rice. The water had fresh lemons in it, which was a nice touch. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. There are several different menus and phone numbers online which made things different and some pictures on Google aren't the right items . I have heard so much about this store and the owner's passion to share to Kingman . I ordered Togo I paid roughly 36 dollars . I had ordered curry fried rice and chicken satay . I was disappointed that I didn't get peanut sauce with any of my meals . I asked if he had duck since I was craving duck during my pregnancy , there was some confusion . I really loved the fried rice . The veggies were cooked well and were fresh . The flavor was very good . I didn't enjoy the chicken satay it did need some peanut sauce . Veggies were cleaned and cooked to perfection . Both of the eggs in both dishes rocked my world it was so tasty . I would recommend don't look online or order on the phone go in store to enjoy the restaurant more to feel more at home . read more

The food was amazing. Fresh and cooked to order. Granted it is a bit pricey but well worth it in the long run.

We ordered the Avocado appetizer. Don't bother! Tempura batter was hard, the seaweed wrap let the feeling of sushi with out the pleasure. I requested a dipping sauce and they brought sweet and sour. They then brought peanut sauce which should but did nothing for the appetizer. The wait staff was nice but atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Stick with the Thai place on Andy Devine next to the museum and train. I will check back later to see if their is an improvement. read more

Wow! I just moved to town and this is the first restaurant I've tried and it does not disappoint. I got the beef glass noodles and my mom got the chicken lo mein.
