I ordered the Pad Thai, drunken noodles and Thai tea. I will start with the Pad Thai, it had three shrimp and about three very thin pieces of chicken and a ton of very overcooked noodles. It didn't have the traditional peanuts or been sprouts. . The drunken noodles also had three shrimp. Both dishes were extremely salty. I ordered Thai tea which tasted awful, had the worst after taste. We didn't finish the food, the next day we woke up with an awful headache from the tons of salt. Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my dad. It was not busy. We started with the chicken coconut soup. The portion was perfect and it was delicious. It was hard to stop eating it but I wanted to save room. In the end, this was my favorite dish! Temperature wise, the soup was served piping hot. I loved the onions and mushrooms in it. Then we got the dumplings. Delicious!! They were meaty with a special sauce. They came 6 to an order. Would get this too again! Next were the edamame. They were a bit overcooked in terms of how I prefer them. Perfectly salted. Good size portion. For our main we each got the Thai Sesame Triple and I ordered the pad Thai noodles to take home to my sister/nieces. We were clearly going for leftovers so we over ordered on purpose. The Thai Sesame Triple was delicious, and once again, a very good portion. We got the dinner portion at lunch. The chicken was perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Same for most of the shrimp. The scallops were not as crunchy- my dad said last time they were. Huge portion of rice with it as well as some broccoli and carrot garnish. I got brown rice. The chicken was mostly inedible though. Just tough pieces and way to much undercooked breading. The sauces were okay, too bad we couldn't chew any of it. Went to Thai Chili 88 and was NOT disappointed. Started the meal with shumai. You can get it steamed or crispy. We got it steamed and it was delightful. Apparently they make it here onsite and you can tell it's fresh and yummy. We got the pan fried potstickers as well. Crispy and also not run of the mill. It tasted fresh and the sauce was garlicky and good. General Tso was crispy and the sauce was fresh! One of the best I've tried in this part of South Jersey. Sesame Chicken was crispy and fresh and the sauce was bomb. Sticky and sweet and yummy. The fried rice was shaped beautifully and tasted freshly made. I also got a Thai iced tea. Sweet like all of the others I've tried and very flavorful. Service was excellent and attentive and came back multiple times to check up. Super nice. Inside is super nice and clean! I've only been once for lunch so far but will definitely come back. My drunken noodle lunch special came with a spring roll and was $10. Medium spiciness led me to believe I can definitely handle their spicy level, so if you like actual spicy, spicy I'd emphasize extra spicy. I also got the coffee with condensed milk. Yuuuum. Was around the corner in the shopping plaza nearby and decided to stop in for some crab Rangoon. They were some of the best I've ever had! The taste was good but the real star is the shape. Unlike the usual wonton shape, these crab rangoon were triangles and therefore, filled even more. The service was pleasant and efficient. Thai chili 88, very underrated place! I like the restaurant--a lot. The food is fresh and the restaurant is comfortable, maybe a slight bit chilly this January, and dimly lit. I stopped here before a trip to Thailand in October 2018, so I could compare their dishes to the "authentic" Thai food. This review is for 01/01/2019 on my next visit. Firstly, the restaurant is Asian, Thai, and Thai Fusion. I've remarked in the past that "fusion" is really an anything-goes kind of thing. Secondly, very few items on the menu were actually on the menus in Bangkok or the many areas we stayed in Phuket, Thailand. A particular item I was looking for here was not on the restaurant menu--(pineapple fried rice) that was on nearly every menu in Thailand. But we live in America and what's up with the authenticity mandate? Is it not more important to actually be GOOD food? This restaurant hits the mark for the "good food" mandate. My partner ordered Chicken Pad Thai--the same thing he ordered throughout Thailand. The noodles were done to perfection and the flavors were delicately delicious--that perfect blend of many spices that formulate an indescribably delightful taste. The chicken was as served in America in Chinese food, which was a difference from the small chicken pieces in the dishes in Thailand. I had Pineapple Curry Tofu. The curry was lightly sweet and had a light hint of pineapple flavor--fresh pineapple. Pineapple chunks were sweet and perfect tenderness. The tofu was initially crispy, but of course less so after on the table a few minutes. This is just how tofu in curry is. But the taste was unadulterated even the next day in leftovers. I ordered mine with fried rice--and it was the best friend rice I've ever had. Not a hint of oil or greasiness to it. My curry was lightly spicy, a vast difference from some of my Thailand meals, which were fire-engine hot if I forgot to tell them "mai pet." Now the authenticity part: I do not see a comparison to the Thai dishes I had while traveling there for three weeks. I also do not see a problem with this. Taste is what matters to me most. Dishes can "parallel" something and be tweaked for a better experience depending on the market. Perhaps this is what Thai Chili 88 does--and they do it well, which makes them a good business. read more

Went for an early lunch yesterday with a friend and both of us had the Royal Chicken. Amazing flavor, tender chicken and veggies in a yummy sauce served with rice and one of their delectable crispy spring rolls. It was an incredibly tasty meal for less than $9 each! The dining area was surprisingly spacious and comfortable so I was surprised it was nearly empty so close to noon but I'm sure they do a brisk takeout with locals. This is one of my favorite Asian restaurants in the area without a doubt. Prices of lunch special and regular menu are fantastic. Sesame chicken is crispy and sauce has good flavor and spice. Fried rice tastes fresh, not that hard very old rice texture. Pad Thai is excellent, large shrimp and nice vegetables like thin bell pepper. Portions are great for price, cannot beat this. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, that was pretty empty when I came. I came here for dinner, around 3pm, so they had literally stop serving lunch, however, they still give a 10% discount on the dinner bill! (15% off of lunch bill when you check in on yelp!) I love restaurants that give first time patrons a little thank you! We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, and the waiter was attentive but not very warm. She was kind of short with my grandmother :/ (who has never had Thai food before and took a long time to decided and ended up ordering chicken fried rice lol). That female waiter is the only reason I gave this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5. The food came quickly. The displace was very nicely done! I was very impressed! I've never had my rice shaped in a pyramid; this was a nice personal touch! My sister had white rice, and her rice was heart shaped. The food was hot and tasted fresh. I had the Yushan chicken, which had two red peppers next to the name, indicating that it was spicy, but I didn't find it that spicy. But boy was it good!!! I ate ever grain of rice, every vegetable, and every piece of meat on that plate! I would highly recommend it! Don't be deterred by the two red peppers on the menu next to the name, it's not that spicy! A male waiter gave us our check, and he was much more personable than the female waiter! He smiled when he spoke to us and he was very attentive. I liked him a lot. Overall, this place is tucked away in a strip mall, but the food is really good! If you don't see anyone else there when you arrive, don't take it as a sign that you should leave because you should definitely stay and ENJOY! read more

Don't let the inauspicious strip mall storefront fool you, Thai Chili is a stand out. We first tried them a couple of years ago when I took a flyer on a $15 for $30 deal from coupon clipper. We're big fans of Thai food and figured it was worth a shot. All I can say is it was worth every penny and we've gone back several times since then and gladly pay full price. Their menu is quite large and offers good variety. The Tom Kha Gai (coconut soup) is very good as are their appetizers. You could literally just make a meal with their apps. As far as entrees go, we always order one of their curries and my daughter likes their Thai Sesame Chicken. Oh, and make sure you leave some room for dessert even if you just split one. I'd ordered the shrimp pad thai with a Thai iced tea . I was assuming since it was lunch time I thought it would of came with a salad or soup because most places would offer you that options. Not this place because I had asked, and the person that was answering the phone kind of gave me an attitude about it . So it's whatever. They told me it should be ready in 20 minutes . When I've arrived , the place was dead . There was nobody dining in . You would expect to see people having lunch . So I figured it was a bad sign . I'd picked up my order and was so anxious to try it out and oh my , onced i'd opened up the plastic container and see that my noodles were pale I already know it wasn't going to be good . I took a bite and it was bland . It wasn't good at all . I wasted my money and my thai iced tea tasted water down . Everything tasted so bland, so never again . Delicious, freshly prepared food from start to finish. We shared the crispy shrimp appetizer, Pad Thai, and Peanut Chicken Eggplant Curry. The helpings were generous, enough to share and take home leftovers. We always try Pad Thai on the first visit so we can gauge a Thai restaurant. This one didn't disappoint us. There was a lot of protein: egg, chicken and shrimp. Well season d and lime on the aide. The curry dish was a little spicy (as advertised) and had tender white meat chicken, with Chinese eggplant, green peppers, onion, tomatoes, and pineapple in a creamy smooth curry sauce. My favorite new spot. While not exactly a purebred Thai restaurant, it features enough mainstream Thai dishes as well as a few popular chinese dishes to please a broad array of palettes. After 6 meals here, I can confidently say I was consistently impressed with the quality and execution of everything, especially at lunch time, where most entrees are $4.75 (eat in only, seafood extra). The restaurant itself is very clean and has a nice dining area, though some may find it a little dark. We always start with the postickers - not sure if its the potstickers themselves or the dipping sauce, but thinking about them makes my pants tight. Wife also likes them too, which is a huge relief, because she's a picky eater. I've also had the wonton soup, which isnt exactly Thai, but was still very good. Wontons were kind of small, very flavorful broth though. For entrees, its hard to pick a favorite - I've had the drunken noodles with chicken, jalepeno beef, sriracha beef, lemongrass chicken, and most recently, the Pad Thai. Now, everyone knows you can get Pad Thai pretty much anywhere. Here, it comes with chicken AND shrimp - large pieces that you can actually identify. It's Pad Thai elevated to a higher level. In fact, every dish I've had here was excellent, and came to the table plated as though we were eating in a much more expensive restaurant (see photos I uploaded). If you really appreciate details, then youll love the fact that your soda (or ice tea) comes in a glass, NOT a can, and the refills are free - you'd be amazed how many places still charge/serve you by the can. If theres one gripe I have, its that portions could be bigger. Its not that they're too small, its just that other places give you more. Take that with a grain of salt though, as I typically get 2 entrees when I eat here. read more

The noodles were either overcooked or spoiled because they had like a slimy texture to them. Tea was super super sweet I couldn't drink it. Their food is delicious, slightly different than what is commonly offered by similar restaurants in Gloucester County, the dining room has an atmosphere which is appropriate for a date, and I think the taste of the food is well balanced and intricate - a medley for the palate. What sets this restaurant apart from the others? I think there's a level of art behind their kitchen's abilities. Been back several more times since my past review and Thai Chili 88 is still great! Some additional dishes which I especially liked, - If you're a Vegetarian, I highly suggest the Tofu w. Peanut Sauce entree (served with broccoli). It's not fried to the point it's dripping with oil but it's also not left alone to the point it's just... tofu. The light breading they do to the Tofu makes it slightly crispy (but only slight) and it's great with the peanut sauce. - The Thai Ginger Chicken is a good option too. I think the difference between Thai Chili 88 and most other Asian-Cuisine Restaurants is most evident here. Where most take-out joints just drench everything in sauce and call it a day, the cooks at Thai Chili 88 use spices and sauce (and in this case, ginger) to create something a bit more complex than what you'd expect. Like what I said in my previous review, you got to consider the price. Considering lunch is around $5-$7 (with spring roll and fried rice) and dinner being $10ish, you shouldn't expect your world to change. It might not be as traditional as other Thai places in Philadelphia but considering the region Thai Chili 88 is at, the prices they charge, and the quality of the food -- I think they still deserve a 5 star for sure. read more
