My grandson and I ate here last evening for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The decor is upscale as compared to other local Asian food places, the service impeccable and we both enjoyed the food. We had a wide selection of both Japanese and Chinese food - miso soup, salad, sashimi, peppered tuna, and pork lo mein. Each dish was nicely presented, delicious and correctly timed so we weren't overwhelmed with dishes, nor did we wait for food. Our server was helpful, very pleasant and attentive but not overly attentive, if you know what I mean. I wish I could go just by taste, but I wasn't really satisfied with my meal. I ordered the peppered tuna (which was yummy), and it was on a salad, which was more like 3 pieces of greens and 2 pieces of shredded carrots. I don't eat a lot, and even for me, I knew I'd want a snack after dinner. My fiance got veggie lomein and veggie dumplings. I requested extra veggies, but there were prob 2 pieces! Glad I didn't have to pay for those "extra." So after he was done, I had to grab him something else from Wawa. On top of that, the skimpy lomein was $10. That was steep considering my fiance has gotten more plentiful portions elsewhere, for cheaper. The food tastes good, but it wasn't worth the cost. Ordered lunch from here today for delivery and the order that they provided was not what I ordered. I called the restaurant just to let them know and to see if there was any way the driver could come back to drop off the correct order if they were mixed up and the lady over the phone was yelling and arguing saying I was wrong and saying she's the one who packed my order so she knew it was correct. We went back and forth and I told them I'm not trying to be complicated or argue, I just wanted them to know they gave me the wrong order. She then FaceTimed me to see if I was telling the truth and she agreed that they gave me the wrong order... Don't let the not so fantastic smell of the koi pond in the entry way turn you off. Once inside the second door, the smell dissipates. The restaurant decor is quite nice and upscale compared to most of these type joints. We were seated quickly and waters came soon after. We were the only customers in the place, but our waitress (friendly and attentive otherwise) took two phone orders and one walk-in for carry out before coming back to take our order. Guessing she was the only one available? The lunch menu is quite a bargain as compared to the dinner menu. They offer sushi, hibachi and the typical Asian fare. My daughter had the Hibachi Chicken lunch ($8.95-bargain!) which she liked. She also liked the fried rice. She thought they were better than our normal Chinese carry out place, but not as good as the local Hibachi restaurant. We both enjoyed the salad with ginger dressing. Neither of us enjoyed the Miso Soup-too fishy? I had the Superman Lunch Bento Box ($10.95-bargain!) which included a delicious Superman roll, a spring roll (delicious), white rice (typical, but good) and a California roll (good), as well as the above mentioned soup and salad. We shared the tempura ice cream which was okay. Not something I would order again. Took a bit to get our check at the end of the meal. I suggest letting them know you are in a hurry from the get go, if you are in fact in a hurry. I will come again to try some other items. Ordered from them because our normal Asian restaurant was closed on Monday's. It was more expensive, food portions were smaller and there was a noticeable lack of meat in the dishes as well. Had to go back in and ask for crunchy noodles after inspecting the order because they were missing. Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere, there are better local Asian restaurants that provide better tasting food and decent portions for a lower price. The younger boy who answered the phone sounded annoyed by me and like he didn't care. I asked him to make sure my bag had soy sauce and it was delivered and did not have any sauces at all. Still a great spot all you can eat on Sundays and Mondays when we usually go. We have been going for the past year now since we have discovered it. Although over the past few months We have but ONE complaint..... The service is EXTREMELY too rushed! It's like we don't even have time to enjoy our food esp if we bring in a bottle of wine to enjoy with it . When we go out to dine esp when we bring a bottle of wine, we like to enjoy and relax. The food is amazing but hard to enjoy when the service doesn't allow you to pace your meal accordingly and you are being asked every two mins if you are ready to order. We truly love this place and it has become one of our favorites but lately have been turned off by the fact that we are too rushed. Small portions and large prices for mediocre Asian food. Don't waste your money.. This is my second try with Ocean. Two years ago my wife and I ordered take out and were VERY disappointed. Probably the worst General Yao's we ever had. Besides being cold, it was bland and barely had any sauce. I believe everyone deserves a second chance. After two years, I was hoping maybe new ownership or maybe my first experience was a fluke. Our favorite place, Chef Chun's was not open, so I decided to give Ocean another try. I decided to try their lunch special shrimp Szechuan. Again, I ordered for pick up. I could see $7.50 for a shrimp lunch combo. Slightly on the high side, but ok. It came with wonton soup which was ok and two crab wontons. I wanted fried rice, they informed me it was EXTRA! $2.00 for fried rice on a combo. Now my lunch "special" was $9.50. Not very special, but ok I'll give it a shot. The food was hot this time, but the quality and portions were just as bad. There were only FOUR shrimp and the rest was peppers, onions and celery. I personally can't stand Asian restaurants that use celery. It does not belong on Asian food. They use it as a cheap filler. The fried rice I paid $2.00 for was only vegetable and a very small portion. They also put the two crab wontons on top of shredded lettuce. Why? It made them very soggy and tasted like nothing more than soggy lettuce balls. Never have I see an Asian place use lettuce in a dish. STAY AWAY. Don't believe the positive posts. A Lot of Fine Print and Long Wait. Call at Least an Hour Before You Want to Eat to Order. And Do Take Out, It's Cheaper! I must and do agree that the sushi is excellent here. However this is no bargain. I had issues with the online ordering, customer service, pricing, delivery time, and the food descriptions. I tried to place an order online through their website, but was unsuccessful as it said I was more than 8 miles away (actually it said I was 79.5 miles away!!! Which is completely wrong). So, I decided I would call and place my order. When the person answered the phone and took my information she was distracted and yelled at someone (Dylan?) about how she is on the phone and he was being rude (when in actuality she was being rude by interrupting me in giving my information. The least she could have done was cover the phone so she wasn't heard!). I placed my order and she gave me the total. I asked her why the total was different than that of the order I tried to place online. She informed me there was tax (which was calculated online) and a delivery fee (not applied online with orders of $15 or more). I still proceeded with my order and was told that it would be about an hour!!!!! It was only 5:30 on a monday night. At first I thought this must be an over estimate, but nope she was right. An hour later I got my food. When I looked at the sushi I ordered (Crazy Tuna, and Sexy Girl) I thought they got my order wrong as there was sauce and tobiko on all the sushi. I do not like tobiko and am very particular when it comes to sauces. I pulled out the menu and looked it up. Nope no sauce or tobiko in the description of the rolls. I looked at the menu and noticed that in big red lettering it says FREE DELIVERY with online order in parentheses and a $15 min. Then there are coupons which only apply to take out not deliveries. Among all the "issues" I had, I was very disappointed with the online ordering only for free delivery and coupon restrictions. I tried to place my order online through their own website and could not do so. I also do not like the fact they have so many "small print" items. After buying a groupon I checked the reviews on Yelp. I saw the review below and after visiting I can say that Ocean Asian is now equipped to take digital groupings in addition to paper. On to the review! The atmosphere is nice, the lighting could be a bit softer (it casted a lot of shadows on people's faces). The service was superb, my drinks and needs were always fulfilled. The food was great and had a large menu, a deviation from other sushi places I've visited in the area. The food arrived fast and was delicious (real ginger!!!). Afterwards we got the mango ice cream, which is unlike any ice cream I've ever had (really, it has a doughy outer layer). I recommend this place to anyone looking for more than a just sushi dinner. This would be a wonderful restaurant if they changed a few things. First, they are horribly understaffed. No matter what night we've been here, they have one waiter and one hostess. I think maybe three sushi chefs, but prepare to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour for anything. Our first time we got there at 7:15 and didn't get out food until 8:20. We were there until close to 9:30 because of how long it took. Before you buy the groupon, just know that you can't use it on Monday and Sunday for their all you can eat sushi. You also can't use it on their takeout. The sushi itself is about a 4 out of 5. I do love their crazy tuna roll, but the second time I had it, it tasted a little fishy (in a bad way). The other problem with their rolls is that they are pretty overpriced. You could go to samurai in glassboro for half price, and just as delicious (if not more than delicious). So, maybe test it out, but it's expensive and you have to wait over an hour for anything. read more

Ambiance was great and had a nice upscale feel while still staying casual. Went with a group of 10 +3 kids so they had their work cut out for them. But they handled it pretty well and the place was empty for the majority of our time there during lunch so yelling kids weren't too disruptive. Not sure if Sunday lunch is usually that bare or if it was because everyone was home cooking for the superbowl. Food was delicious, some of us got the unlimited sushi and it was definitely worth it, especially if a few people get it so you can all try a little of everyone elses since you're not supposed to share unless you got the unlimited sushi as well. I would say about 5-6 of the specialty rolls are available on the unlimited menu and I think all of the general rolls. I love that you can also get unlimited appetizers, soup, and salad. We kept ordering Gyoza. Which was delicious! You also get ice cream and soda with the unlimited sushi meal. I would say it is well worth it if you want to try a lot or eat a lot. Ends up around $24.50 with tax so you figure $29 with tip, which isn't too bad considering that you get some really great sushi, appetizers,soup, salad, a drink, and ice cream. Surprisingly there are a lot of fairly good Asian options in this area. Perhaps it has to do with being near the college. For whatever reason I have Asian at least two nights when I was in town and both of them were pretty good but this one was absolutely the tops. They were accommodating with the food allergies in the group and their delivery time was superior. They had some really interesting and unique specialty rolls that I have not seen other places. The staff were super nice and I even called us to confirm one thing in the order that was confusing. That's the example of going above and beyond that I think deserves an awful lot of value points. The next time I'm in this area I will definitely visit ocean again either in person or by delivery. Oh and there's no question that I will definitely have the softshell crab again!!!! read more
