You can just mention the name Sawasdee and any true lovers of Thai food in the Indy area will immediately drool. So, it was with a certain sense of relief that after a rough experience during the pandemic this beloved Thai institution returned with this "curbside" joint at 65th and Keystone. I will admit that it took me way longer than I would have liked to finally make it to Thai Curbside by Sawasdee. It's relatively close to my neighborhood, however, with all the road construction around I just didn't go much north of the Glendale area for quite awhile. That road construction is calming down, at least in this area, and it's now fairly easy to get to the strip center location where you can find Thai Curbside. About the only thing else here of note would be Kroger and potentially Arby's. I suppose you should also toss in Sahm's Place also across the parking lot. You can imagine my surprise when I arrived and first noticed that Thai Curbside is not, in fact, exclusively curbside. That said, a good amount of their business seems to be curbside and take-out. They do also offer catering. The inside dining option is admittedly slight with about a half-dozen tables and a counter space that struck me as pretty cool. In terms of accessibility, it's pretty solid here. Parking is pretty easy. There's not an accessible spot directly in front, however, they are around the strip center. I've not had difficulty finding a way to park here to protect accessibility. The door is a single-sided glass door and the layout is welcoming and roomy. As nearly every review has indicated, service is top-notch here with a strong sense of welcome and enthusiastic greetings. Food options here are, you guessed, it Thai. They have appetizers, soups, salads, stir-fried entrees, curry entrees, fried rice and noodle entrees, a la carte options, beverages (including Thai iced tea and iced coffee), a handful of desserts, and for those who just can't do without a soft drink they carry Pepsi products (and regular iced tea that is unsweetened). I'm a crab rangoon maniac. The crab rangoon here is definitely upper tier. In terms of entrees, ginger rice and chicken is only available on weekends. It's incredible. Pud Kra Tiem Prik Thai is also inspired. I tend to avoid curry entrees, however, I've got friends who swear by them here. I've also not tried any of the desserts. Overall, this is a terrific option - especially for take-out. The inside dining is definitely smallish. It's still winning - and you get to experience the friendly people here. However, I tend to prefer either dining in my car or taking it home. I tend to be fairly boring with my diet, but Thai Curbside is definitely an experience I'll be craving in the very near future once again. read more

It is so nice to find a good local Thai spot! The owner is so friendly, he even included free spring rolls in our takeout order just for the holiday spirit. Where else do you get that? Service is welcoming and friendly at this locally owned Thai restaurant. The manager popped his head out to wish us a happy day. The food came out quickly and was freshly prepared. The dining room is small and cozy with 6 tables and a small amount of counter seating. Kitschy Thai decor fills the walls. I had the Pad Ped with chicken. The lunch specials come with spring rolls. The spring rolls are hot and fresh! The medium heat level was spicy and delicious. The veggies were fresh. My husband had the Pad Thai, which I tasted. The Pad Thai is absolutely delicious. The chicken is tender with lots of fresh crunchy bean sprouts. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall. I did not see public restrooms inside. read more

Ambiance inside is very modern, though I just picked up. Ordered online for ASAP just a medium-heat Chicken pad Thai with no bean sprouts and tofu. When I got to the door after 15m of ordering,the man at the counter was super nice, had my food ready, and gave me a free order of Spring rolls! This place was amazing! A friend recommended it to me saying their flavors were comparable to a more expensive restaurant in town but for half the price and she was not wrong. It is more of a to go place as they had a few bar height seating with 1 4-person table in the middle of their space. The owner was wonderful and kept checking in on my husband and I to see how we liked the food. We were so hungry and I had been looking forward to trying this place, the camera unfortunately did not eat first on this day. I had some left over curry to take come and the owner even gave me extra rice to go with it. The mangos in the mango sticky rice were perfectly ripe. My husband got their pad Thai. I would say the flavor is different from the general Thai places around town but don't let that keep you away. It was so good! read more

What?! I can't believe I haven't written a review for Sawasdee!! I've been coming here since they were just Sawsdee at their previous location. I love Sawsdee! After moving to Chicago, I still haven't found another Thai restaurant that tastes as good as Sawsdee! Every single time I am in Indy, I will make a stop here. My favorite is the pad thai; no other pad thai's can compare to how delicious they make it here. The noodle soup is also amazing, but it is only offered during lunch hours. I also love all their fried rices!! Just delicious food all around. The owner is still here, and it's always good to see how he is doing. He is friendly and is able to answer any questions you have. This spot is my absolutely favorite place to get Thai food. The owner and staff are welcoming and the serve up awesome dishes. I love the pad Thai here I usually get mine with tofu it is so good I rarely order it anywhere else. One of my other favorites is the Khao soi the flavors of the curry broth are unique and delicious. My husband is a big fan of the Thai noodle soup and I would also have to admit that all of the appetizers are sold. I believe most people get takeout but there is a small space with tables if you want to dine in. If you have never tried this place out yet then you should make a plan to try it out. read more

I've never physically visited the restaurant but have ordered off door dash many times. They offer a traditional thai soup that I have found hard to find in Indianapolis - Khao Soi. I've been to thailand before and that is where I discovered my love for this flavorful curry-based soup often served with chicken. The restaurant does a great job wrapping up all the ingredients so it arrives without a single spill while in the DD car. The sticky rice is the other item they offer that is not on an American menu or isn't available often. So yummy. My kids love it too! We've ordered two of the four curries offered - the green and red. Both are good. Will continue to order from this establishment. Always delicious! read more

Most authentic thai food I've had in Indiana! They have plentiful vegetarian options too. The Yum tofu salad was a revelation. I've never had such a dish before and it was so good. Savory, tart, good texture, and well balanced. It came with rice and fried spring rolls on the side. The spring rolls were crispy and well seasoned. The Thai noodle soup with tofu was also a favorite. No wonder other reviewers raved about this dish. The broth was so flavorful and the garlic flavor was not overwhelming. Once again, well balanced flavors here. The soup had veggies with tofu. It was a a good size portion. I ordered medium spice level for all my dishes and it was the right amount of spice. The Thai iced tea was too sweet for my liking. They sell it in bottles too or you can get in a standard size cup. The employees were so friendly. It's nicely decorated inside, a bit small inside, but open. There are about five tables inside for dine in. Parking is plentiful as it is located in a shopping center. read more

My kiddo and I used to hit up Sawasdee years ago when he took martial arts across the street up on 86th Street. Tonight, we ordered thom kha gai soup, chicken pad thai and spring rolls -- not exactly cheap, but a huge amount of food for just the two of us. After completely stuffing ourselves, we've still got enough left over for almost another whole dinner. The coconut soup was the perfect comfort food for the borderline colds/sore throats we've both been fighting, and the spring rolls were nicely fried with fresh tasting veggie filling and not greasy. The pad thai was the only thing I didn't 100 percent love -- the noodles were a little chewy and slightly dry for my taste, needed more sauce and peanuts. Medium spice level was perfect for me with enough kick to feel it, but not overpowering. I think this place has just taken over our top spot for best Thai food in Indy. read more

Called in a Sunday night to place an order for pick up. They were very friendly and let me know it would be about 20 minutes for pick up. When I arrived I was greeted and able to quickly pay. The husband wife duo who own the restaurant were both working and very friendly. I grew up going to eat at Sawadee as a child so I'm extremely happy to have them back after Covid and so close to where I live!! We even ordered delivery from them a few times during Covid- such great food!! We ordered spring rolls (you get so many) and the BBQ pork skewers for appetizers which were very delicious. Only available on the weekend - so be sure to try them out! I had the Khao Soi which is an incredible northern Thai soup dish. Perfect for the cold rainy weather. This has been my go-to Thai spot for quite some time now. No need to go elsewhere. The food is hot, fresh, and tasty every time. The chicken fried rice is phenomenal. 10/10-no notes. And it's secretly gluten free too--which makes it even more impressive. The owners are incredibly sweet and hospitable so going in is always a pleasant experience. Now I'm here to add another great review I guess! I ordered take out, and it was ready in 15 minutes. Food was packed well, was still warm and secure when I got home to eat. I loved the drunken noodles/pad kee mow!! Medium spice was perfect for a little spice flavor without being too much. It's my go to dish and did not disappoint. My husband is a wimp on spice and mild was perfect for him. Spring rolls and crab rangoons were soooo good! The crab Rangoons come in a big order and I know the leftovers will be great in the air fryer! The inside is small, but does have limited seating. Nobody does Thai noodle soup like Sawasdee. How I've missed it. 3 long years. I get Thai hot and I am experiencing that slow burn on my throat in the most delightful way. I FINALLY found a Thai restaurant I love! I have been missing my moms cooking and this is closest I'll get to a home cooked meal! Everything tasted authentic and just so so good. Happy to see that Sawasdee has returned. Covid brought the end of Sawasdee at its W 86th St location, but it has reemerged at 65th and Keystone is the strip mall anchored by Kroger. Food is still excellent (crab Rangoon, pad Thai, and red curry). The new location is not as spacious. They do a brisk takeout business. read more

Delicious and reliable takeout! This was my first order, and I'll definitely be back! Dinner was ready for pickup in 20 minutes or less and everything was hot and thoughtfully packed for travel in the car. The restaurant is small but very clean and bright. The owners also seemed so nice. (Note the sign says Thai Castle, but it looks like they also go by Thai Curbside!) We ordered pad thai and pad see ew, both with chicken. The dinner portion comes with hot and sour soup and a spring roll. The soup was delicious with a good combo of spices, and the spring roll had a nice crunch with fresh flavors--not too greasy. We enjoyed both main dishes. Ingredients seemed fresh and there was plenty for leftovers. I ordered the pad see ew, and the rice noodles were wonderfully chewy, vegetables were crisp, and sauce was peppery and savory.
