If you live around the area, or happen to stop by Ballston Commons, then you should definitely give this place a try! The lunch specials are a great deal: $10 for a variety of large portion dishes, such as green curry beef or pad see ew with wonton soup and spring roll. We also had some very good appetizers; I recommend the soft roll in particular, which is veggies and meat wrapped in flat noodle roll. While the "normal" sounding name may suggest questionable authenticity, the taste definitely disproves that: for example, the curry was less about coconut milk (typical Chinese-made thai) and more overall spice mix. It did seem a tad bit more salty than other traditional Thai places. Kudos to the chic decor, good food, and solid prices. read more

Yelpers rated Ravi Kabob (next door) high and I loved it, so I returned for another go. But I forgot Ravi is cash-only, so I ended up up Thai Curry. The food is day and night. Also based on Yelp reviews, I tried the Duck Roti and was really disappointed. The tamarind sauce was too sweet, and the roti was too wheaty. For an entree, I had the Panang Curry with beef, and was let down too. While the sauce was three-star good, the beef tasted like overcooked pot roast. On top of all this, the menu seems overpriced to me ... their current 15% off promo for Yelpers that check in twice brings it back into the "reasonable" realm, but since the food sucks it's not really worth it. Also, the "ambiance" is nice if you like bad karaoke tunes, chasing LED lights, and badly constructed tiered ceilings. I wanted to update and say that they've now changed to this "express" format (in fact I think the restaurant is now called 'Thai Curry Express') I am not sure how it is express... they seat you at a table with a menu, but instead of coming by to take your order they ask that you walk down to the bar to order. Not a big deal, just kind of strange since they seat you and all. Then the food is brought to your table by a server and they come back to refill water, etc. Then at the end of the meal you pay at the bar. It really isn't bothersome, I'm just not sure how this is an improvement for either staff or customers. It makes customers do more work and really doesn't cut back on work for their staff. Also, I ordered their drunken noodles last time we went, and for some strange reason it was EXTREMELY spicy. To their credit, it did say they were spicy on the menu, and that is part of the reason I ordered the dish- drunken noodles aren't normally served very spicy at Thai restaurants so I was curious. I have an extremely high tolerance for spice, but even I was struggling through this dish. So much so that it wasn't even really enjoyable. Overall still good food at a good price, though. read more

Last night, my other half took me to this new Thai restaurant in Arlington for my birthday. I must say that it's the only place in the DC metro area that has the most authentic Thai food. The smell and taste totally reminded us of the food we had when we visited Bangkok a couple of years ago. Specifically, we had drunken noodles and green curry chicken. Heavenly scrumptious. I am scarfing down a plate full of delicious Chicken Pad Thai as I type this review and am loving every slippery noodle of it. I was driving home after a 2 hour massage session (Note: I FINALLY treated myself to a massage after dishing out hundreds of hours worth of massages to others over the past few months!) with zero urge to cook dinner for myself, when I happened to look up and see THAI CURRY in neon letters! I thought it was too good to be true and must be a mirage, but it didn't disappear as I got closer. It is indeed the real deal. It's Thai Curry! A friend and I got takeout from Thai Curry. Considering the shopping center the restaurant is located in, I was anticipating a not-so-nice interior. While small, it was actually a nice looking restaurant inside. Our order was ready immediately when I walked in. I had the ginger stir fry, which I thought was excellent. The food here is really, really good BUT it's dirty. The first time I ordered, I got delivery and drunken noodles were amazing.... the second time I went in to pick-up and was disgusted with what I saw when the kitchen door swung open. I only got a quick glimpse, but what I saw was gross. It was filthy. I can not eat here again, now. I just saw where someone posted a picture of a roach crawling from under the table and that further confirmed what I already knew. The health inspector needs to pay them a visit. My wife and I ordered the gyoza, pad Thai with beef, and jungle curry with chicken. We were extremely happy with how quickly the food was ready. However, the delivery person called us and asked us to come and pick it up on the street, totally defeating the point of delivery. The pad Thai needed our own seasoning with lime and salt. Excellent, friendly service; great food; AND a history lesson about the picture of the past Thai King?!? Now that's a good time! My party and I arrived a little outside of happy hour time and our waitress was nice enough to "extend" the time for us. I got the appetizer calamari and the soft shell crab pad Thai. Both were excellent. Our party ordered some drinks and apparently they were strong (in a good way). The lift saver was a fluorescent green and the Arnold Palmer was hot pink. All were enjoyable! That said, the place is located in a small strip mall in the ghetto of Arlington, Virginia, a 4 is good enough. I love noodles. When I want noodles, I usually want Thai food. I ordered delivery from Thai Curry and I wasn't disappointed. My boyfriend and I shared the crispy spring rolls, the drunken noodles, and the thai cashew entree. I accidentally bit into a thai chile pepper and felt like I was on fire for most of the meal, but I didn't mind because everything was delicious. Really excited to find such innovative Thai so close to my house! All the dishes we tried were well-flavored (a little on the spicy side but that's how I like it) and the fun menu encouraged us to try things beyond our usual standards. The soft-shell pad thai was the biggest hit of the night (shrimp + crab = perfect), spicy eggplant was amazing, and the soft rolls were really flavorful though more crepe-like than advertised. The ambiance was great - it would make a nice date spot for sure. One issue would be the ordering process - we had to send a few items back because the tofu wasn't prepared as asked for and pork was in a dish that didn't mention it's inclusion. Second trip here was even better. Stuck with the good Drunken Noodle, but this time with fried tofu instead of chicken, which was an improvement. I tried the Tom Yum Kung (tom yum with shrimp), and the broth was amazing -- slightly spicy and vinegary. I will make that a standard order here. My dining companion had the Gang Leang, "assorted veg in spicy broth," which was much spicier and not my favorite. We also tried the Crispy Catfish with red curry paste, thai eggplant, and green peppercorn. The catfish was good, the sauce was tasty... the peppercorn branches were all over and hard to avoid eating, even though they appeared to be purely decorative. I would get this again, it's just a little difficult. FINALLY a decent Thai place that delivers. Seriously, with all the Thai restaurants in Arlington that deliver (I think I've counted 7) you would think I didn't need to go all the way to Thai Square on Columbia Pike to get my fix. After years of sub par Thai places within walking/delivery distance, Thai Curry has answered my prayers. I ordered once from the place that used to occupy the space and it was horrible. Thai Curry is "I've ordered twice at 9 pm getting home late from work". Ok let me start off by saying that I'm big green papaya salad fan. I was a little hesitant to have a fried version. I mean it's a near perfect dish as is, what would frying do to it. Make no mistake, the idea that frying something improves it lives on in the green papaya salad. Insane. Shrimp was a little overcooked and I think I could do without it if it made it a $6 dish instead of a $9 dish. I started with the standard stuff. The pad see ew used chinese broccoli. Recently I've wondered if there was a chinese broccoli shortage given that most thai places I've been to recently (most of them sub par) use regular broccoli. But the chinese broccoli was there and not in large chunks, but nicely sliced to spread it around. The noodles were cooked well, and there were no clumps. Second delivery a couple days later (I really just want more of the papaya salad) I go the fried rice. Pretty good, decent amount of seafood, not sure if it's $4 more than beef worth it, but the scallops were cooked well and the rice had that good mix of salty/sweet/spicy that makes me want something as simple as fried rice. Plenty of thai basil. I swear once work eases off, I'll go by to try the noodle soups. This place is now my delivery go to and I may have a dilemma next time I go to ravi kabob which is two doors down. I first heard of this place when a coworker (who lived in DC) described it as the best Thai food in Arlington, and who claimed he made the trip into VA regularly for this place. Shortly thereafter I learned that I lived really close, tried the Pad Thai one night, and was hooked. Since then, I've been a frequent visitor, due both to proximity and deliciousness. I've eaten in the restaurant (really small seating area) a few times but usually take out and in both cases it's been great. I think of the 10-15 times I've had Thai Curry the food has been less than stellar 1-2 times. Favorites include the Panang Curry, Drunken Noodle, and Pad Thai. My roommates have had (and enjoyed) the Green Curry and others. This place definitely hits the spot when I'm craving Thai, but I've also had better Thai food in my lifetime. There are some negative reviews on Yelp about delivery - I think I've had food delivered from here a few times but I usually pick up. Personally haven't had an issue with long delivery times or anything. read more

I order free delivery from here about once a week. I am a huge fan! I highly recommend the Thai Basil Stir Fry with Beef and the Panang Curry for about $24. They offer 5 different spice levels but I someone that likes it hot so I go with Thai hot. The Thai hot on the beef will bring the heat, not so much on the curry itself. Each of the orders are big enough for 2 people to split. I have not had as much luck with the various soups but the main entries are pretty solid.
