Absolutely one of my favorites and my go-to Thai place. I always order pad Thai, but my mom has tried the crab fried rice and calls it outstanding. My mom is very hard to please too. Happily surprised to see a Thai restaurant where the curry actually comes with rice!! Restaurant is an order over the phone or at the door and take to go type of place. No seating inside. It takes around 10-15 minutes from the time you place your order for your food to be ready. It's located on a small hilltop plaza that you can walk around while you wait. Prices are moderate, $7 for 2 thick spring rolls and $12 for an entree. Food: -shrimp spring rolls: 3 small shrimps with lots of cabbage, some vermicelli noodle, light lettuce, and a smidfe of herbs. Even though I felt cheated, I have to admit it was pretty tasty paired with the peanut sauce and they did stuff it more than the average restaurant does. -smoked salmon spring roll: Did not care one bit for the smoked salmon spring roll. Did not match well with either the peanut or sweet chili sauce. Wasn't able to cut the smoked salmon with my teeth so led to awkward sharing/eating. -pad Thai- twas okay, not amazing. Still in the fridge, unfinished. Happy they were willing to put the egg on the side for us! - pad see ew: this was the first dish that was annihilated upon opening. I love that there's a good Thai place close to my house!! I've been here a few times when I was really craving Thai food but didn't feel like driving too far. I've tried their pad see ew, drunken noodles, red curry, Tom yum soup, and papaya salad. All have been really good, although their food can taste a bit too salty sometimes for my liking. Their portions are pretty big as well and I can usually get two meals out of one dish. It's across the street from the Costco and in the same plaza as pep boys. But within the last year, the chefs have been neglectful to my request when I order WITHOUT PEANUTS (I am severely allergic). I didn't want one mistake or allergic reaction to reflect the restaurant so I gave a few more chances. Still given benefit of the doubt, my food always had peanuts when I specifically ordered NO PEANUTS. One time, I double checked at the register asking them if my order had no peanuts. We always order our favorite Crab Fried Rice here from Thai Fresh 1; but lately, during the last few orders, we noticed something has changed. The taste was not the same as it use to before. Today, I ordered our favorite Crab Fried Rice, but I am so disappointed. Not only that the price went up, but I couldn't taste the crab anymore and couldn't find that much crab. There's more eggs than the crabs. I think it should no longer be called Crab Fried Rice, instead it should be called Egg(s) Fried Rice w/ Crab!! I don't mind paying more, but I expect that it would be at least the same quality as before. I can understand that the price went up, but the quality should not go down! Wow! I was blown away by my lunch today. As soon as you walk in, you will notice it is a very humble and "mom n pop" kinda establishment. Well, don't let the exterior fool you because they serve up some grand, magnificent flavors! I ordered a veggie pad Thai level 6 spicy ($8.95) and a taro milk tea ($3). That first bite was heavenly. It was an explosion of flavors and a joy to my palate. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce to noodle ratio was perfect, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The art of cooking pad Thai is very challenging, but this place has mastered it! Wash this down with a delightful taro milk tea- it was one of the best taro milk teas I've had! Not the fake, powdery, artificial tasting kind, but perfectly sweet and smooth. I would highly recommend trying this place if you're craving Thai food! This is a casual thai eatery, with only outdoor seating, and a menu that is more limited than a regular thai place. There is no room inside to eat, it's a very tiny place that's set up as a to-go place. Prices are fair and the service was fine. I really want to like this place. I really do. I like seeing local businesses thrive and the family that runs this are so cute. It's affordable and next to my home away from home, Costco. TF needs to put more salmon to even out the flavors. The purple cabbage was a bit too bitter. Also, the rolls came with 1 peanut sauce and 1 sweet & sour sauce. My sister and I used 1 peanut sauce for 1 roll. It would be nice with extra peanut sauce. This restaurant has a lot of potential and I am more than willing to come back and try other items. I was in the mood for Thai food and have only eaten at my local Thai place, pre-covid and a handful oh times. I decided to add another spot to my list of go-to places! I hopped on Yelp and found this place, not realizing I had seen it before and had told myself I would like to try it. The pictures of entrees looked great; so I took a chance and called in to order. Super friendly employee answers and takes my order: Thai Fried Rice Veggie style, Tofu Panang Curry, Chicken Drunken Noodle and Mango with Sticky Rice. I was excited to try a new place and satisfy my craving of Thai food. I picked up and there was a short line, ultimate sign of good food, right? I make my way to the front pay for my order and head home. I opened my take out boxes and the food appeared to have been made in a rush and on first appearance didn't seem seasoned enough. BUT LET ME TELL YOU!!!! Thai Spice did NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! I was so hungry, I dug right in and to my delightful surprise...my selections were everything I had anticipated. The flavor was spot on and very delicious. I wish I given the employee my spicy number but forgot. The Panang Curry was a little spicy for me. I like a little heat and on the number scale I prefer mild (no more than a 2) and my Panang Curry was about a 4, possibly a 5. Regardless of the heat level, it was still delicious. I have yet to try the mango and sticky rice, but I'm sure it's a home run!!! I think I ordered at the peak of dinner time and the cook may have been feeling a little rushed. Besides, a little extra heat and a disheveled Togo box... I'll definitely be back, but probably when the cook is not under extreme pressure to turn out a high volume of orders. Was traveling south to Mexico and wanted something tasty. Looked up my Yelp [quickly] and found this Thai restaurant with 200+ reviews and a pretty good ratings at 4.1/2 Stars. The restaurant is SUPER small. They had one small TV tray sized table inside with a folding chair. They do have a table outside but it was pretty cold and so I ate inside. The only problem is that everyone coming in is ordering over you while you are eating. The pad Thai I ordered was pretty good. At first I thought it only had a few pieces of Tofu but once I got into the noodles there was plenty of Tofu. They did not have a chili but could only offer me Sriracha sauce. My MIL is Asian and said it's nice to come here if she's not in the mood to cook! And she can cook all of the dishes served here, just as good, if not better! One of the best Thai fried rice dishes I've ever had! The ingredients tasted and looked very fresh. There were no faults! My boyfriend got the pad Thai and it was noticeably better than many other Thai places in SD.
