Maes is always fast and fresh ! The owner is so nice and friendly. Small casual restaurant with great food

Nice experience. Good food good service . Clean. Simple. 5 stars A

Found this little hidden gem by accident . We had the drunken noodles had a nice Spicy kick and flavor was good. The curry was so good! I can't wait to get back and try other items on the menu

1/3 of the total onion I found amongst the noodles in my Drunken Noodles dish

My wife had driven by Mai's Thai Kitchen earlier in the day and said it smelled wonderful. She asked me if we should eat take out from there for lunch today. She picked up the food on her way home. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with shrimp at number 3, for spiciness. When I uncovered my food it was hot and smelled well-seasoned. In fact, it looked very inviting. I forked through a bit of the top layer and saw that it had more than a bit of onion, which wasn't much of a surprise to me. Everything in the plate was well cooked but for me I'm sad to say that the overwhelming flavor of onion and I guess basil or something in there, were a lot more than I was looking for. I took a picture here approximately 1/3 of the amount of onion that came in the Drunken Noodle dish. Total it was like 3.0+ tablespoons of large, onion pieces. For my mouth, it seemed over the top with onion flavor. One other minor concern I had was that though we had ordered the noodles with shrimp, I found about 3.5 bites of chicken at the bottom of my plate. Had I been a vegetarian who ate some seafood or a pescatarian, I would have been very upset! Next I tried a fresh shrimp wrap. In the middle of the lettuce there was another strong flavor-- not sure what it was, but it made me so overwhelmed the lettuce and shrimp taste, I couldn't finish it. Anyway sad, but Mae's Thai Kitchen is a no for me.

We visited the San Ysdro outlet and right after,  my wife got a craving for Thai food . We tried this small Thai restaurant called MAE'S THAI . We couldn't find any review about it but still we went to try it . As soon as we got there, the place is small with 5 tables only but very clean and welcoming look . We were approached by a Nice lady in the counter , gave us menu and we are so Familiar with Thai food so we ordered our food  fast . We Had Pad Woonsen with Pork  , Red Curry w/ chicken , and Tom Yum w/ Chicken . The food came all in to go containers but still we are able to Dine in because  they will give you plates and utensils .  Sunny the cashier and server at the same time was very nice and very friendly . My Wife made the first impression of the food and she said she Loves the food here . And I agree as well that the food here tasted  good  . Plenty of Parking around . And this restaurant just opened 2 weeks ago .

    Thai Iced Tea, so good

We finally got to try Mae's Thai Kitchen on Coronado Street in San Diego, and we're so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, the place had a warm, welcoming vibe, and the staff was super friendly and attentive. We ordered the chicken black pepper with broccoli, crispy spring rolls, red chicken curry, mango sticky rice, and Thai iced tea--and honestly, every single dish hit the spot. The chicken black pepper was flavorful and had the perfect kick of spice, and the broccoli was cooked just right--not too soft, not too crunchy. The crispy spring rolls were light, fresh, and not greasy at all, which I really appreciated. One of our favorites was definitely the red curry--it had such a rich, creamy coconut flavor with the perfect level of spice. We were dipping everything in that curry sauce! For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. The mango was sweet and ripe, and the sticky rice was soft and warm--just how it should be. And I can't forget the Thai iced. Portions were generous, and for the price, we felt like we got a really good deal. You can tell the food is made with love. We left full and happy. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving some tasty Thai food!

Surprise from chef: fresh raw shrimp with limes spicy sauce so yummy!!

The food here is absolutely delicious! The Isaan-style som tam (papaya salad) is bursting with authentic Thai flavors, and the crispy chicken wings are perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. A special dish from the chef - shrimp that are perfectly an outstanding flavor. I'll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend stopping by to give it a try!

Great food, amazing service, with a cute & clean environment. Highly recommend Mae's. Been here a few times service is always so welcoming. Everything that we have tried has been so full of flavor! Nice to have a restaurant close by with healthy options. Make sure to give it a try, you won't regret it.

Very simplistic and easy to read Menu. Very eye catching. The restaurant itself is small and cozy and really clean.

Food was pretty good. I loved the curry and fried tofu i ordered on the side. I had passed this place about 3-4 times because I live 1 block away and today i decided to give it a shot. I am definitely coming back. The server was really friendly and helpful. The small cozy restaurant is very nice and the contrast of the white, green walls, plants, and wood finish floor, and tables gives it a very pleasant atmosphere.

Food was fresh and delicious, and the customer service was above and beyond listening to my husband's dietary restrictions to accommodate his needs. He went with the eggplant stirfry with seafood cooked in mushroom sauce. He loved it

New favorite Thai restaurant that opened up not too long ago, owners are very kind and hardworking. Definitely recommend if you're looking for Thai cuisine and are in the area.

They have a super easy online ordering system right at the table which makes things convenient. We ordered the spicy lamb biang biang noodles and the non-spicy beef pulled noodles, and both had the perfect chew and incredible flavor. We also ordered the garlic green beans, but they came out so late that we were already completely full from the noodles, so we took them to go. Thank god we did, because they turned out to be pretty salty on their own and really needed to be paired with white rice at home. Overall, an amazing spot for authentic noodles! Absolutely love this place and will be back.

Beef noodle soup - excellent flavor overall, including a strong broth and a nice, soft texture to the noodles. Out of the countless Chinese restaurants I've visited for beef noodle soup, this makes its way into the top three. 5/5 Lamb skewers - wayyyyy too dry. This is certainly not their specialty, and asking for extra cumin to sprinkle on the lamb did not redeem the firmness. I struggled to slide the meat off the skewer and ended up just eating it while still on the stick. 1.5/5 Fish fillet - so good. Easy to eat texture-wise. Caution -- a bit saltier than it looks. The bell peppers in particular were seasoned spectacularly. 4.5/5 Dry fried green beans - a delicious option for vegetables to add to the table. Most people will enjoy this one in my opinion. A bit more crunch than I expected, which is not a bad thing. 4/5 Double cooked pork - I've never seen it cooked this way, and am not a fan. I'm used to a more oily version of this dish. It contained a bunch of dried and crunchy... yams? Potatoes? Overall, the dish was mainly crunch with no flavor, and contained a relatively small amount of pork. 1/5

The new-new nood bar called Hom Mali. - FOOD: delicious - PRICE: fair (their website shows outdated and cheaper prices) - SERVICE: good - AMBIANCE: nice updated esthetics It's been awhile since I've ate here and the last time I did it was just The Nood Bar now known as Hom Mali but still shows as The Nood Bar. They updated their decor and like it much better with its refreshing white and green interior giving south-east Asian vibes. The menu has quite a lot of good offerings it was hard to decide but feel not matter what you order here it's going to be delicious and authentic. They did keep several items from The Nood Bar! :: ORDER :: RED GUAVA ICE TEA ($5.95) - Oh my goodness, so yummy and refreshing. I'd say the caffeine level is very light on this one and I am ok with that. After stuffing my face I took a nice nap for someone who is caffeine sensitive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GARLIC BUTTER NOODLES {$20.95) - Grilled lemongrass-marinated pork shoulder served over steamed soba noodles tossed with soy sauce, fried garlic, garlic oil, and butter alongside steamed botchy, finished with cilantro and a side of plum sauce. THIS WAS SO FLAVORFUL and yummy. I don't often eat garlic butter noodles so any garlic butter noodle is delicious to me. I did NOT see any fried garlic in my meal and felt it was only garlic oil that was present with the garlic profiles. The noodles were very garlic-y and butter-y. The pork shoulder was also perfectly marinated and dipping it in the plum sauce which was a mix of sweet and tangy paired well with the marination of the meat and butter-ness of the noods. It also came with ONE bakchoy sliced in half to appear as two. And I wish they some how incorporated the cilantro and carrots more into the dish instead of garnish to give some more herbal flavor. Even though, this dish was spot on. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Service was great! Did feel awkward when they handed me the machine to tap my card and leave a tip... they stood there watching you press the buttons. No being discreet picking up plates or looking away... just looking right at you. I know it's a thing with many restaurants now but it's awkward and don't feel like I have privacy. I will def be back! So many yummy dishes on the menu to try. Until the next slurp....

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice.
