Okay. There are two thai restaurants that share a wall. Looking at the building, this is the one on the rightt. 1208 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577-3635 Server, thin Asian fellow, SUPER NICE. The sushi chef was also great to chat with, and made great effort to make my son smile. We talked 5 star sashimi, Sphegetti Bolognese... We chatted about how certain meals would bring an older family member "back to life" while they were battling dementia and Alzheimer's. Verging on a deep convo, if we had the time. We ordered yellow curry, chicken dumplings, wings, chicken cheese rangoon, basic fried rice, house fried rice. Dumplings, to die for. Wings, average. Kid. Basic fried rice, average. Kid. Chicken cheese rangoon, tasty. Yellow curry, Expletive Fantastic. House fried rice, terrific. Our server, like a hawk, awesome, always smiled, near or far. Again, sushi chef, also attentive. Allowed my son and wife a few free samples of mochi mochi and sushi. My wife, "Oh, that Wasabe is hot!" She's a peach! I saw sushi man make a Mojito, morter and pestle style crushing of the mint, long tall glass with what looked to be a small/mid size agave leave in it, as garnish. Sweet tea for me though. The only Thai restaurant I know off in Florence. And it's run by a couple. Wife cooks and husband runs the front. Very pleasant place to be. Laid back. Nothing fancy. Came here on a Saturday when it's pouring rain and cold., I have other guests with me. So we order quite a bit musasman chicken curry, shrimp pad thai, special duck curry, Tom yum soup, veggie fried egg rolls, house rice rice, fried ice cream. I can not complain about any of the dishes. I did feel bad for our waiter because after we came in. It got really busy., So he got overwhelmed. But other than that it's very chill and cozy. Good night for these comfort food. To be the only Thai restaurant in Florence they can hold their own. They're just at good as any Thai restaurants in the big city. They got my 4 stars. read more

I came in to eat lunch around 12 pm on a Tuesday in a rush to dine in and grab sushi. It wasn't crowded at all and I noticed the AC unit in the middle of the floor. The owner immediately apologized & said the AC went out. It was very cool and comfortable inside but that was nice of him to explain. I seated myself and service was pretty quick. You can tell it's a very authentic restaurant. The owner and his wife bought the food out quickly and the food was great. Worst service and average food. Yelling racist server. Medium spicy was super spicy. When we called the server to tell him, he started yelling at us at the top of his lungs saying - "this is thai house medium spicy. Next time dont eat it all (which we didn't of course, all of it was in our dishes). He said he will have to charge us to make another mild one when we didn't even ask fir another one. He then proceeded to take our bowl and diluted it with water even when we asked bot to. I do not recommend this restaurant" unless you want to get yelled at. read more

The lunch portion of Pad Thai was quite good with the right texture, not too much sauce mixed through it and lots of chicken. Service was good and I got a 10% discount for paying cash. It was A-OK. This small Thai restaurant is located on the corner of an intersection, so parking can be a challenge if the place is busy. The hubs and I were warmly greeted and welcomed promptly. The restaurant wasn't very busy and we pretty much seated ourselves at an empty booth. I ordered F-10, Pad King, with shrimp and "hot" spice. I also ordered a California Roll. The hubs wanted to order the Fried Rice and Chicken Wings special, but he wanted to substitute the regular fried rice that the wings come with for the Thai Pineapple Fried Rice, which is also on the menu. Apparently, asking for a substitution is frowned upon. We were told that it would be difficult and result in an up-charge. When asked what the up charge would be, we were told that the server would have to bother and interrupt the chef to find out the price. This would be due to "changing the menu and creating an entirely different menu from the chef". In actuality, all of the aforementioned items are indeed already on the menu. Anyway, we just said "nevermind" instead of pursuing a complication. The food came in a decent amount of time. And everything we ordered was delicious! I would definitely come again. The food was fresh and tasty. We will definitely put this restaurant of places to frequent when we are in town. (As for my Thai Iced tea, I wouldn't order that again. Here I am again in Florence trying to find out how much the culinary scene has changed since I left here 30 years ago! I wanted Pho but no luck because there is none, and as most Asian cuisine is a copy cat version of another I found Thai House and Sushi! This small family owned restaurant is tastefully appointed with many tapestries and bamboo mats while the tables have hand loomed table cloths under glass. This 60 seat restaurant is small but interesting with its mix of old Florence photos and interesting handcrafted hanging lanterns. The menu is well planned offering a variety of options and great descriptions about the cuisine! The staff is quite welcoming and was very professional in helping my dinner date understand Thai food. There is something on the menu here that anyone could enjoy regardless if they are carnivore, vegetarian or vegan! And In keeping with their Buddhist beliefs they have a shrine located behind the sushi bar! I hope that everyone searching for a break from norm will give this restaurant at a try! read more

I am very impressed with this quaint little place. Don't let the looks fool you. It was quite surprising to get a variety of good Thai and Sushi in Florence. I had the spring rolls, spicy tuna, and the Drunken Noodle. The spring rolls were crispy and tasted great, I have had some in the past that were soft and soggy.... not here. The spicy tuna was actually made with chunked tuna as opposed to the purée that many places use. The drunken noodle despite the non traditional noodle was extremely flavorful. When I saw it I was questioning if I would even eat it, however after one bite I knew I was in for a treat. I will definitely be returning and hope more people give this small place a try! read more

First off, the food is delicious. It's five star Thai food. My husband and I love the food here and when we lived in Florence, frequented the restaurant often because it was so tasty. The service can be a little slow but the food is cooked to order. Today we went, and the new wait staff was super incompetent. The owner, a waitress, and a new waiter were working. The new waiter took our order- we were both tired and hungry because I did a race in town that morning (a half marathon) and I was ready to eat. I wanted Thai food and remembered how good this restaurant was. It wasn't super crowded either, maybe 6-7 tables (it is a small locale, though). We waited over 45 minutes for our food (minus our appetizer, we got that as planned). When I went to tell the server/busboy/sushi guy/front clerk, I actually saw our order in the trash. I told him how long we'd been waiting and how others had already come in, ordered, and left, when we hadn't had food. He got the cooks on our order and it came out within 5-10 minutes. He said he'd give us a special discount. Had we gone to a chain restaurant, our food would've been comped. This is a local place, so I didn't expect that and was perfectly fine paying something. We still tipped the guy the full amount we would normally tip. I expected the "special discount" to be at least half off. Nope... 15%. Needless to say, I wasn't happy at all. He gave us another few dollars off after he saw how peeved I was. We ended up paying $20 for our two dishes and our spring rolls appetizer. I was glad to eat, get out of the restaurant, and get dessert next door. i really can't see myself returning to Thai House on future visits to Florence. read more

After sleeping on it and thinking about it for a day, I decided to write my review of this business since I would want to know if any other person had a negative experience like mine. Unfortunately, I cannot give this business zero stars, I have to choose 1 star as the lowest so just know that I would if I could. To begin, I ordered the Tom Kha soup, Volcano Fish and Spring Rolls. Upon opening my soup to eat, I noticed a bug in the soup (see the attached picture). The broccoli that came with the fish was also yellow (a sign of spoilage) however, this is not the main issue I had. I read the negative reviews before ordering from this restaurant and ignored the foul odor inside the restaurant but as an Asian myself, I wanted to support this owner and business. I always want to support local minorities if I can. When I went to let the owner know of the bug in my soup, I had every intention of letting him keep the overall $30 I paid for the food because $30 would help his business better than it could help me. When I let him know, he stared at the bug in the soup and claimed it was not a bug. Only after sticking his fingers in the soup to fish out the bug did he agree that it was a bug and said that he would only refund me $7 for the soup saying that "this is the only fair way." This is when I had an issue and requested a full refund. I had not eaten any of the other food and tried to explain to him that the same kitchen that was used to make the soup with the bug in it was used to make the rest of the food, I cannot trust this food and eat it knowing that. A flip switched and he starts physically screaming at me, telling me to never come back to his restaurant again, shoving his fingers in my face, telling me that this would follow me for the rest of my life. I was absolutely appalled. My parents raised me to NEVER yell at my elders, no matter what so I calmly asked him why he was yelling at me. He yelled at me to stop talking and continued yelling at me. Every time I tried to defend myself and explain that I just wanted to support his business he would yell at me to stop talking. He yelled that he never liked me to begin with and didn't like me when I was paying and picking up the food. Sorry for the long review. I thought for a long time about whether or not to write this review. I don't want his business to be shut down and I don't want him to lose any business. I just want to put this out there so that hopefully he doesn't treat any of his customers this way ever again. read more

Worst Thai food I've ever had! I was driving down I-95 and was looking for somewhere other than a fast food joint to have lunch. I saw this on yelp with good reviews so I thought I'd give it a go. First of all, I never would have walked in the door of this place if it weren't for the previous yelp reviews. It's not in a great area and the exterior of the place looks questionable. All that aside, I tried to keep an open mind. I ordered the shrimp rolls (how bad can you screw those up after all) and the papaya salad. My friend got the pad Thai. The shrimp rolls barely had any shrimp at all. I seriously had to look for a speck of shrimp. The papaya salad was terrible - the lettuce was brown and the salad was flavorless. Papaya salad is usually spicy...not here. The pad Thai was sticky in texture and tasteless. The service was terrible...there was a sign indicating they need waitstaff so perhaps this is a friend of the owners stepping in to help out?...she brought us an "extra side of rice".....neither of our dishes had rice. Again, I had the salad and my friend the pad Thai, which is a noodle dish...very confusing. Sadly, the steamed rice was the best thing we ate there... I will not return to this place. read more

For looking authentic inside, I had hopes this would be close to my mom's. It wasn't at all. The manager is the sushi chef who is Thai. Ordered shrimp tempura roll and added salmon on top. Charge me $3 extra for the salmon. Shrimp inside tasted stale and old, salmon was super thin, and squeezed not spicy mayo but regular mayo on top.... Gross!! I also ordered Rhad Na beef. The noodles were supposed to be wide rice noodles but they were small thin ones that tasted over cooked and super soggy. Sauce was bland and watery. I will not be returning. read more

Found this little nugget of Thai goodness on a recent visit to the nicely revitalized area of downtown Florence, SC. Nothing fancy on the decor but very clean and the food was excellent. Precious was very happy with her usual order of massamon curry (always a good choice in my experience). At the waiter's recommendation I ordered the fried tilapia filet and jumbo shrimp with red curry. I recommend it highly. If new to Thai food order it mild. You can add more heat but you can't take it away and I'm convinced most people who have had a bad Thai experience probably just ordered their dish too spicy. Back down a notch and try a curry based dish. You'll be happy. read more

He ordered the pad Thai and I ordered the Tofu Lo Mein. Both meals were very salty. So salty that I couldn't get past the first few bites before I gave up trying to like it. According to my boyfriend, the Pad Thai didn't taste like any Pad Thai he's ever had. There was an over use of the fish sauce and it was very salty. Mine didn't even taste like a blend of Thai spices and herbs. It tasted like fast food Chinese food but with a bigger price tag. The portions were small and the veggies were over cooked. The service was slow even though the place was pretty empty. No one asked why we barely touched our meals but had no problem collecting the money. I truly loathe this place. I hesitate to call it decent Thai food, nay, it is merely passable Thai food. Portions are skimpy, particularly at lunch. $14 for vegetarian lunch entrees that yield zero leftovers, even for modest eaters. If the food, portions, and pricing don't get you down, don't worry the service will. I've never seen the same waitress twice and even if you are one of two tables in this place you'll still be waiting for water and to order. They have never had sushi rice available when I have forsaken the face of my father and deigned to step foot in this establishment. Avoid it! This is an unexpectedly located, pleasantly surprisingly good little Thai place. Sig-o had been raving about it for months now, so we finally went. The restaurant's signage actually reads "Thai House 2"; looking at their flyer menus it looks like the original one is in Sumter. While on the small side, the restaurant is decorated appropriately "Thai" (bright colors, patterned fabrics on tables and chairs) but done so tastefully. Interestingly they have black and white "vintage" (i.e. from the 50s/60s/70s) framed photos on the walls of Florence and the surrounding area, a nice touch against the Thai-ness. While were the only ones in the place for an early dinner on a Wednesday afternoon, our server was still pleasant and attentive, which is always a good thing. I admit I was skeptical, mostly because of its location. After eating the food though I'm a fan. After getting menus I immediately passed the sushi section and went straight to the curries. We ordered a yellow curry (gaeng karee) and my usual thai favorite, a green curry (gaeng kaew wan). They have several other curry options (panang, muasaman, red, etc.) and you can also choose your protein (beef, chicken, shrimp) as well as the heat level. In short order two large portions arrived, with a bowl of jasmine rice for each of us. Both curries were great...I hate when a "Thai" place serves red, yellow, and green curry but they all end up tasting the same just with different colors. You can tell that the food is made with attention to detail and isn't just thrown together assembly line style. I am definitely going to go back and try the rest of their curries, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. They also have a selection of appetizers, soups, noodles, salads, and stir fry entrees. If I can pull myself away from the curries maybe I'll sample some of them next time. 4 stars! Prices for the curries and most entrees hover around the $8-10 range.
