I was here last week with my family, service was very good and all the staff are very friendly. We order Penang, lettuce wrap and Drunken Noodles. The lettuce wrap was amazing and highly recommended. The Drunken Noodles has no flavor and very light taste and the Penan was away to sweet. We've been to different thai place before that why we really know the taste. But in general we will be back and try different foods in the menu. Good place and worth of trying. read more

I will say upfront that my family and I love Thai but our usual restaurant went out of business so we had to try something new. Bad mistake. We ordered from Thai House and were so disappointed. The food lacked any real flavor or spice which is what makes Thai food so good. We ordered two dishes of Pad Thai which were just massive mounds of mushy and flavorless noodles. I ordered a chicken sauté dish - supposed to be spicy but again, flavorless and drenched in a brown sauce. We ordered fresh rolls as an appetizer and they were bland. And worse, the peanut sauce was just clearly from a cheap bottle. Nothing fresh. Sorry, won't be coming back. read more

This is my boyfriend and my go to for takeout. Their delivery is fast and courteous. We always order yellow curry udon with vegetarian duck and tom yum noodle soup with tofu. I definitely recommend these two, very filling. Only thing is sometimes they don't take off the 10% off with cash on weekdays even if you ask. Make sure you find out the original price and then ask for the discount to be sure you're getting the 10%. Otherwise no complaints, delicious. read more

Supremely bland- no garlic, no basil, no lemon, no ginger, no spice of any kind.... it isn't even Chinese food, which if even isn't distinctive at least has a flavor style. New to the area and looking for our go-to thai spot. Thai House was decent but probably won't be our go-to spot. Plenty of seating inside and when we arrived around 5pm there was no one in the restaurant. Nice decor inside which provides some privacy between booths and had a few larger tables for parties of 6 or more. Appetizer: Fried Calamari. Nice fried crunch with some minced peppers on it to give it a different taste. The sauce it was served with was a little spicy rather than the sweet chili sauce we're used to, but it was good and I'd recommend it. Entrees: Chicken Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles. The chicken pad thai was a little on the bland side. The portion size was on the larger side. The disappointing part of the pad thai were the noodles were very soggy. The drunken noodles on the other hand were a decent portion size also, flavorful, and cooked well. Both entrees were enough to bring leftovers home. Definitely give this place a try at least once. If we come back here it would be for the atmosphere and to try their curries. read more

We live very close to Thai House in Millburn NJ. We went there when it first opened, many many years ago. The service was downright terrible and we never went back. Last night we decided to give it a try....for sure the service had to be better, right? Wrong. The service is absolutely awful. It's non existent. We had to wait over 45 minutes for appetizers. Finally got them and our main courses were brought out a minute later. Couldn't flag anyone down for our water glasses to be refilled. The environment is stressful. The waitress run, yes, run thru the restaurant with orders. The floors are wooden so there was thumping the entire time we were there (about 90 minutes) Looks like more kitchen staff is needed. No matter how good the food is or isn't, the environment will keep us from going back. read more

Popped in after a movie this weekend and my love affair with Thai House was renewed. Pleasant staff and a nicely decorated restaurant located close to Millburn Train Station and the center of town. Ample parking located close by. The food is really great. Every time I come in the food is just right. They will make it Thai spicy if you ask. We started with a Roti Canai. The roti was hot crisp and soft all at the same time and the curry dipping sauce is so good I could drink it. I had the drunken noodles with shrimp which is akin to a chow fun dish in Chinese food only better. The vegetables and sauce make the dish. Asparagus and mushrooms were uber fresh and the sauce was spot on. My wife had the chicken in green curry and loved that as well. Prices are fair as well. We had an appetizer and two entrees for $38 with tax and tip. Please patronize this local gem. You won't be sad that you did. read more

I stumbled on this place one night because our usual Thai restaurant was closed. I was so pleasantly surprised with it! I had the chicken in the spicy basil, which is my thai usual, and I loved it! The service was great as well! When we asked if we could have a bit more rice to take home with our leftovers, she more than graciously filled our boxes for us! Won't eat here again. My first time and very disappointed. Ordered crab appetizer that came with mango but couldn't swallow it. Completely just sweet and bland and had to spit out. Entree was the bbq spare ribs and thought you can't go wrong but so sorry I did. At first sight I can tell with the non presence of seasoning and just pure sauce swallowing my ribs. I bit a piece and immediately spit that out and sent it back. I've had Thai food before and this is a cheap misrepresentation of this culture. Thai House recently opened in Millburn in the space where Sono used to be, and I just had to give it a try. When I arrived with my dining companion for lunch, we were the first ones that day. The interior design is very impressive--it's attractive and comfortable, with intimate booths and rich warm lighting. We started with the Thai fish cakes--small nuggets of savory chopped fish in a delicately spiced light batter. They came with a sweet garlic-chili dipping sauce, which was a lovely complement to the toothsome little bites of fish. Next up we tried the tom kha soup with shrimp, and the tom yum soup with chicken. The shrimp in the tom kha was perfect and fresh and tender, and the broth yielded a delicious blend of citrus and lemongrass and coconut. The tom yum was also very good--it was fragrant, with a savory chili bite. For our main dishes, we were very impressed by the beef pad see ew and the beef red curry. The spice level was just what we asked for. The red curry featured a rich blend of coconut milk, Thai basil, red chili, and citrus, and it was loaded with a variety of vegetables. The beef was flavorful and tender, and the rice was cooked perfectly. The pad see ew was also excellent, bursting with flavor and freshness. We especially enjoyed the flavor of the fresh wide rice noodles, which were coated lightly in a savory sauce and stir-fried with lots of vegetables. The menu is substantial, clear, and well-designed. The staff are friendly, attentive, and professional. Also, the location is a convenient walking distance from the train station, so I will definitely be ordering takeout on my way home. Thai food. Cooked by Chinese people. They sorta make it look like it does in the pictures in the cookbooks, but doesn't taste Thai at all. Not disgusting or bad, just not Thai food. We had the Tom Kha soup, which looked white but tasted like chicken broth, the Pad Thai which just tasted like soft overboiled noodles, and the pineapple fried rice which was decent but not Thai in flavor or consistency. On a recent visit my experience was nothing short of horrible. I have eaten here 2 times prior and food is good but that's not the problem. On our recent we encountered an unruly family with 3 very loud out of control children. My wife asked if they could take it down a notch all hell broke loose. The father of the children insulted my wife and proceeded to engage me in a brawl while staff and management did nothing. They just stood there. I asked management to phone local police and they did nothing. After the father of the unruly children calmed down a bit and left, all the other patrons applauded. My husband and I love this place. the food is of great quality, the service is great, the lunch specials can't be beat, and its BYOB. Must have the roti, I could eat like 10 orders of them, the springs rolls are good. My daughter ordered the chinken wings yesterday and loved them. The soupd are good esp the coconut one. I have only ever gotten take out, but they do a speedy delivery to South Orange which is a huge plus for me! The drunken noodles, lettuce wraps and dumplings are my go to. They are good portions for sharing between two people and they all have great flavors! I'm not a huge fan of pad Thai, but everyone I know that has gotten it enjoyed it. Started off with a very good Vietnamese summer roll. For entrees we had vegetarian mango tango- mild but very flavorful and the tofu massamun curry-which was really delicious- the best version of this dish I've ever had. The atmosphere is nice-when we were seated the waitress pulled a string curtain between our table and the table next to us. Service was good and our food came out quickly(Thursday night so it wasn't very crowded). Prices were very good for the quality of food and portion size. Thai House is close to Papermill Playhouse for a pre or post theater meal. Thai House is definitely my favorite restaurant. I have never had anything bad there before since every dish is well developed in flavor and taste, the dishes follow the guideline of the four flavors of Thai food: sour, sweet, salty and spicy. I usually get the Tom Kha soup to start out with which is a coconut milk based soup with onions, mushrooms, chicken and red peppers. The soup itself is so comforting that it warms up your insides on a cold winter day. The Tom Yum soup also has a great flavor to it: it uses lemongrass to create a promising spicy and savory soup. Along with the soup I will sometimes get the Roti canai which is an Indian influenced flatbed served with a spicy peanut curry sauce. The sauce itself is flavorful and appetizing. Combine it with the greasy flatbread and you got a divine start to the meal. For the entree, my favorite dish to get is the yellow curry udon, which combines a spicy, and flavorful yellow curry with luscious udon noodles. It also contains red pepper, mushrooms, chicken, beef, shrimp and other ingredients. They give you a big portion that will feed you for two whole days. Other great dishes I've had are the Pad See Ew, and the Bangkok chicken. The entrees are just as promising as the appetizers. They do not have many options for dessert, but one of the few things they do have is the Thai dessert, two little steaming bowls of mysteriousness. I have never had anything like it, it is a little gelatinous, and it has a sweet coconut flavor. It is small, charming, and will leave you walking away with a smile. Addressing the problem that the servers are Chinese, I do not understand why that should be a problem. It does not matter what race the servers are, and does not make them any less authentic. The servers understand english well and give you quick service and great food. Finally, the place is clean and has great decorations. The prices are nonexpensive, especially for the quality and quantity of food you get. Overall, the place is definitely worth eating at and will keep you coming back for more. read more

My friends and I had dinner here this past weekend. The food was delicious! I would recommend the ribs. They were tender and just melted in your mouth. Our server was very attentive and the atmosphere was inviting. I couldn't give 5 Stars because my Thai Ice Tea was not good! Thai Ice Tea is a staple...how do you mess that up!?? Wow, reading these reviews maybe I ate at some other restaurant!. My wife and I were looking for a "Good" Thai restaurant but the food here was absolutely awful. The place is nice and staff seemed ok - we ordered ginger duck and Thai Seafood sampler which was supposed to be spicy along with pad Thai noodles. The duck was very fatty and the meat which was supposed to be crispy was just disgusting. The seafood sampler tasted like cheap Chinese take-out and the noodles were wet and tasteless. This has to be the worst Thai food I have had in my life - just bland and no spices! I'm not a great chef by any means but I could have made a duck that had more ginger flavor than the plate I was given. I almost asked for my money back but I hate making a scene, so I signed up on Yelp and this is my first review. Khun Thai down the road is better - Thai Chef in Montclair is a good restaurant but if you are, like me looking for a Thai restaurant with fresh food and spices Thai House in Millburn is NOT it! read more

We had dinner here last night for the first time! Nice decor & atmosphere, clean & quiet! The food was good, but not great! We had the chicken rolls, the chicken dumplings & chicken wings for appetizer which were all good, the papaya salad with shrimp was ok, the shrimp were excellent, the papaya salad was too sweet! We also had the basil chicken & the green beef curry with brown rice, both we're quite good! The chicken PadThai was very disappointing, wasn't drowned in sauce which was good, but had a weird after taste. I would go again or order delivery but avoid certain items! read more
