*** Accept credit card (minimum of $10) but prefer cash *** Tasty Food To Go is a take-out only Thai/Lao eatery near Cambodia Town in Long Beach and was ranked #50 on Yelp's Top 100 US Restaurants to Eat in 2017 ( https://blog.yelp.com/community/yelps-top-100-places-eat-2017/ ). This mom-and-pop eatery is located right next to the barber shop who he also happens to own. [Parking]: Street parking only and difficult to find an available spot in this part of neighborhood, but some visitors just park across the street at the Gonzalez Northgate Market parking lot. [Service]: Owner Lam was super humble and friendly. I actually got a free bottle of Arrowhead spring water from Lam when I paid with cash. [Menu]: Top 3 most popular dishes per Yelp highlights are Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Papaya Salad. They also sell tom yum soup, various curries, stir fry dishes with white rice, and Lao dishes like beef jerky / nam tok / papaya crab. *** Pad Thai (beef, mild - $13.95): Freshly prepared & delicious Pad Thai - well seasoned noodle with fresh veggies. *** 4.5-star on Pad Thai, but bump up to 5-star due to ultra friendly service. P.S. - The eatery closes on Sunday and no public restroom.

Stopped by Tasty Food To Go in Long Beach for a quick Thai to-go, and honestly, it hit the spot. You can hear and see the kitchen working fast in the back, and you know the food's coming out hot and fresh. I chatted with someone waiting next door at the barbershop, and he mentioned that the barbershop actually opened this spot to serve food as well. Great wok hay, and that smoky stir-fry flavor that lets you know the wok was blazing. The portion size was generous, and they don't skimp on the meat either. This fast, flavorful takeout is worth the short wait of 15 minutes if you're in the area.

Ultimate lunch strategy is picking up a papaya salad in the summertime and stretching it 2-3 days when its too hot to cook. Love the recent renovations. This place looks a little better each day.

Wow, I've been working in LB for over 15 years and I have never been here! But so glad to try them recently, better late than never! If you are in downtown LB, it's not quite a quick drive to here though, even though distance wise it's not that far. They make to order an it's a tiny mom and pop place, duplex converted (don't end up in the barber shop next door!). Don't be in a rush if you come here though. They make everything fresh as you order so it won't be quick. The name is Tasty food to go.. not Fast food to go. Staff is super friendly and kind and honest! Food is so yummy and quite plentiful! CC is over $10 minimum. Would highly recommend and I would definitely come again. Next time I would definitely call to order ahead. There is only outdoor front-yard style tables to eat there. Def a take out place!

We had a special surprise guest, we call him Midnight the Thai cat outside! Guy was super helpful in the front letting us know what was popular. Food came out in 15 mins and was delicious! We got the pad Thai and shrimp fried rice, didn't lack flavor whatsoever. Definitely recommend!

This is my second time going and I will definitely be coming many more times! My first time here I had beef drunken noodles and they were amazing, the portions and prices definitely matched!! This time around I had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and it was better than any pineapple fried rice I've had before. I definitely recommend trying either of these two options because they won't disappoint!

Great Pad Thai in large portions, for carry-out. There seems to be two food writers who follow the Long Beach food scene very closely (Brian Addison and James Tir), and they just published a long article (search for "Essential dishes from Long Beach restaurants in 2023"). James recommended the Pad Thai from Tasty Food To Go, so put this on my list to stop if in the area. That opportunity came on a Friday afternoon, as we were headed back from the OC. The Pad Thai ($13.95 + $3 for shrimp upcharge) is a great dish, with large portions, definitely enough for two sittings. I'm convinced that the best Pad Thai uses fresh shrimp as its protein (the unami from the fish sauce just makes the jumbo, plump shrimps just pop), with tofu being second (beef, pork, or chicken just doesn't work for me). This version was good, with the noodles extremely hot but not sticking together and the toppings like green onions, crushed peanuts, fresh bean sprouts, shredded carrots, all sprinkled on top. All the accolades doesn't seem to have changed the way they make their food, large portions and all. As mentioned many times by others, it is take-out and cash-only. There is some outdoor seating and plenty of families and couples were camped out in front, waiting for their food. Available street parking was non-existent, so ended up parking in the grocery store lot across the street temporarily, with my wife ready to move in case we got noticed. I did ask our order taker , and he mentioned that he hadn't heard of any customer being towed for parking there, but obviously couldn't promise anything. My order took about 15 minutes to be ready, and we were on our way. Should make a great dinner.

I love the lao papaya salad here. The portion is huge and spice is just right for me (I ordered medium spicy). Parking can be hard to find. I just parked in the plaza across the street (Northgate). They have some seating in front but most people just order takeout.

Took me a while to finally try this place, but I'm very glad I did! The pad see ew is the best I've had and the fried rice is top notch! Lam and the rest of the staff are very friendly and welcoming every time I've came to pick up :) Would recommend takeout from here if you live in LB!

We came here because their Pad Thai has been living rent free in my bf's head since he last had it. We ordered the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. I'm usually a Pad See Ew girl, but the Pad Thai here is exceptional. There are raw slivers of carrot and bean sprouts which provide so much crunch. The flavor of the noodles were perfectly balanced between savory, tangy and sweet. We ordered it with chicken but I would probably do shrimp or tofu next time. I would skip the Pad See Ew. It was pretty average, no charring on the noodles. I liked how they used Chinese Broccoli though. Ordering over the phone was easy! We parked at the grocery store across the street and ate in the car because it was raining. For two people, two portions were huge! We could probably share one Pad Thai next time. I'll be back next time I'm in the area!

Pretty average Thai food to go, especially for the price. But they deserve extra recognition for the friendliness and service. Had the chicken pad thai, shrimp pad kee mao, thai papaya salad, shrimp egg rolls, and sticky mango rice. Portions were generous, but that doesn't matter if the dishes are lacking depth and flavor, which we found to be the case with the pad thai and especially the pad kee mao. Everything else was good and freshly prepared. Being that Thai food is so ubiquitous in the area, you have many other authentic options. It's nice that, like many, however, it's family-owned and run, and you immediately see that when walking in. The cashier was extremely gracious and even mentioned that it was, so you can see they take much pride in it. That's always a great attribute for any restaurant.

Anywho, we got the laab and Laos sausage. Laab was pretty good. But the sausage was peculiar. I never seen it the meat with a reddish hue to it. Everyone I tried had a standard color to it. It was also dry as heck. It was so dry, Im like, did I order some jerky or something??? Overall, with the customer service experienced and item being below quality. I probably won't be coming back.

Noodles were coated well with the flavoring/sauce but still had a good bite to it. Noodles were not overcooked and the pad se ew had a very distinct charred tasted from the wok- DELICIOUS to say the least!! The papaya salad was what I was looking forward to the most. During the time or ordering, I request for this dish to be "SPICY SPICY" and asked for extra padaek. The server 100% obliged but I assumed the kitchen staff would balance things out with a little extra sugar and lime... that wasn't the case. The papaya salad was really spicy and really salty. I still managed to eat the dish but would have loved a more well-rounded mixture of flavors. Service was great. The two younger gentleman took orders, Rang up customers, and brought food out to the guests. They were kind, patient, and obviously followed patron's requests to a T. 4 stars.
