I didn't expect a restaurant like Thai Jasmine Cuisine to be situated in this area. When I was a child, Shaver used to be a busy and fun place. Now, it's so...ordinary. Anyway, they're packed into a small business center. They're easy to miss. Thai Jasmine Cuisine is small inside, so not ideal for large gatherings. The decor is lovely and adorable. They have a huge TV screen, but the volume is too loud. There's an abundant of aquarium fish in this place! The staff are kind and the prices are decent. There's no lunch special, though. Our food arrived fresh, with the right amount of spice. Thai Jasmine Cuisine offers catering. But, the seasoning on some of their dishes are gritty. I wouldn't recommend their curry, most of the customers have complained about the texture being gritty too. That's NOT how curry should be! Their spicy wings...aren't spicy at all. You pay at their counter, not at your table. They don't give you enough napkins unless you ask. Unlike most Asian restaurants, Thai Jasmine Cuisine have other desserts besides the usual mango sticky rice and mochi. I was desperate to find something for lunch in the area. I had a training and this came up as a viable option. I opted for the Garlic Chicken. The chicken was actually flavorful, ample in quantity and it also came with veggies. Upon walking in, I was greeted and the presenter at my training had beat me here; she validated this place... I chose a good find! I will definitely come back to try other options such as the fried rice. Parking is no issue as it is located in a strip mall. I came to have lunch with my beau. You seat yourself wherever you like. The staff greeted me as soon as I walked in and brought me menus and water as soon as I sat down. For an appetizer, I had a cup sized Tom Yuum Shrimp Soup level 3 spice level. The flavor of the broth was good and there were 4 pieces of shrimp in the cup size. If you cut them in smaller pieces you can have a piece of shrimp in eat bite. My husband had the wonton soup and the broth of that soup was watered down. It lacked depth in flavor. The staff was nice to take his soup off of the bill. I ordered the red fish as my entree level 3 spicy. It comes topped with shrimp, onions & peppers in a brown sauce. My coworkers and I came here on a Monday for lunch and it was pretty busy. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a corner of a plaza so there's plenty of parking. I like how all the dishes come with a soup. The soup had vegetables and chicken with lemongrass- delicious! For the entrée, I ordered the Pad Kee Mao. The flavors in the dish were fine but the portions lean a little bit on the smaller side and it was too salty for me. This Thai restaurant is a little Pasadena gem. It is tucked away in an outlet, and if you blink you might miss it... so, don't blink! The interior is nicely decorated and while it might seem like the decorations are cluttered or "all over the place," it really does add to the ambiance in a positive way. Everything is clean and organized. The lighting isn't too dark or too bright. It is a "seat yourself and pay at the front when you're done" sort of set-up, but you still interact with the wait-staff. Each server is pleasant, punctual, and professional. The menu has heaps of Thai options, but you must try their Red Curry! I would also recommend the Chicken Satay as a starter. After you order you are given a complimentary bowl of delicious brothy soup. Even with a crowd of people you won't wait very long for your food. The servers will occasionally check on you, but will leave you to eat your food in peace. I was pleasantly surprised with how attentive the staff was in terms of drink refills and clearing dishes. Ok starting off the place is small and dim lit and they got a huge screen tv on the wall near the counter. It doesn't have an awful scent in there like a lot of other Pasadena joints I've been to that was a plus and the young lady at the front greeted me warmly and go straight to the point wanting to know if this was dine in, pick up or to go. She got me in and out and upon my request for the shrimp Pad Se Ew I ask for it to be spicy and they have actual levels to it 1-5. I got the 3 it wasn't exactly spicy enough FOR ME so before I dipped I made sure to hit it with some sriracha which upped it for me. At first bite the texture and flavor of the dish was packed with umami with the oyster sauce, garlic, fragrant at that, lots of chopped broccoli and carrots and the crunch really paired into the dish greater than I thought. The shrimp was cooked perfectly with a bit of a crunch to it and the flat noodles weren't overly chewy/gummy at all. At first I was reluctant to try this place since I don't live in Stankadena and I was here for work and this place it looks like a hole in the wall but in my experience it's a lot of times the hole in the wall joints are freaking awesome. I was surprised and happy I decided to get lunch from there. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I'm going to just keep this brief as I'm so uninspired by such bad food. I had a few spoons of the green curry and I just was so disappointed that I left the rest on the table. It tasted like water. The bamboo shoots? Water shoots. Like... how does this even happen? Where is the quality control? Service is nearly non-existent other than the initial ordering. Pad Thai was... almost ok. Noodles were TOO soft. This leads to clumping and eating goop. Flavor profile was close to standard. Pad see ew looks a little light in color but I can imagine it tasted way better than the other two items we got. So why not a 1-star? Because if I spend $20 here, I know I can get about 3 meals out of this place after tips. Prices are suuuuper affordable. Each dish averages under $9--find the one you like the most and STICK WITH IT. My greatest advice is to just drive another 12 mins down towards Almeda Genoa and eat there instead. This is my first time being at this restaurant And was my last. I ordered a soup as an appetizer and ordered my meal. When they brought the soup, i took a sip of it and looked down to see a COCKROACH in the soup. How many times could this happen to people thinking they're eating beans but it's little roaches. I told the waitress and seems like they didn't care or maybe it's such a common issue for them. I can only imagine how sick and dirty the kitchen is and the staff for allowing this to happen. I love mom and pop shops and as far as this one goes, it hits it on the nail! My coworkers and I were doing a site visit in Pasadena and were looking for a good place for lunch and stumbled upon this hole in the wall. I wasn't really expecting it to be that good, but it by far exceeded my expectations. One of the things I love about it was how authentic it was. I can say this because my coworker was Thai and spoke to a server in Thai and verified that the food was authentic. We ordered the following: - Pad Thai (4/5) - not as sweet as what you would normally get, but apparently that's much more authentic. They do have a delicious sweet and sour sauce that you can add if you want it to be sweeter. - Tom Yum (5/5) - I don't normally eat spicy, but for this soup I will. It was so delicious and full of shrimp! - Chicken Satay (4/5) - This was a pretty good appetizer because the chicken was very flavorful and moist. - Red Curry (5/5) - The curry definitely hit the spot for a cold winter day. It warms the soul and was just straight up great curry. Each of the lunch specials come with house made soup that changes daily. We placed an online order for 6 people and I was waiting for a confirmation by email. I received it and was waiting for another to let me know the food would be ready. I didn't receive one so I called the restaurant three different times and it would ring a few times and then go to voicemail, which was full. Another email finally showed up saying a refund has been issued to the card for the order! We never cancelled it! So after trying to decide what everyone wanted and ordering, this happened. Later I saw a review on here saying the hours are wrong and they were closed. If they are temporarily or permanently closed, SAY THAT ON YOUR SITE!! So when I saw a different version of Thai Jasmine pop up, I was really excited. This one is a bit further out, but still relatively close to my house. It's in a kind of beat up shopping center, but there is plenty of parking. Once inside, I was coming pretty late (right before closing) so I opted to order to-go. While, I waited the owners were very nice and offered me a bowl of soup on the house. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad kee Mao, Basil chicken, jasmine hot wings and mango sticky rice. All of the dishes were solid. My favorite being the Beef Pad Kee Mao. I got all the items medium spicy, which was not nearly spicy enough. I always have to gauge different thai places. Next time, I'd get max spicy from here. Best part about this place? The prices, with the location, the dishes are about 2-3 bucks less than it's competitor and the portion sizes are huge! read more

Such a great find! In town on business and wanted to have Asian for dinner, so my co-worker and I headed to Yelp and found this place. Well let's say the 5 stars was #truth! We both ordered the Pad Kea Mao with chicken; I got the level 3 and she ordered level 2. My level 3 was pretty spicy, I needed to blow my nose afterwards. But the chicken was cooked well (lots of chicken on the plate) and there was just enough basil (I'm not a basil lover) and a good amount of veggies. Our waitress was very nice and steered me in the right direction of my spicy level. I'm glad she did because I don't think I would've enjoyed my food if I had gotten the level 4 (and I like spicy food), like I originally asked for. I've been wanting to try this place out but my boyfriend is not a fan of Asian food. He's missing out! We went on a Thursday night. It's small inside and we were the only table. I'm not sure if many Pasadena folks appreciate Thai cuisine. But I sure do! Usually I order either Pad Thai or Thai Fried Rice or Massaman Curry. They didn't have the Massaman Curry so I went with the Thai Fried Rice with Chicken. It was delicious! I loved how flavorful it was. And it was a huge plus that they used white meat. I was pleasantly surprised! I also ordered some eggrolls. They were OK but nothing special. My boyfriend ordered a rice dish with shrimp and panko-crusted chicken. It was awesome too! He enjoyed it even though he's not a Thai food lover. The Jasmine tea was insanely-sweet! I just wanted an iced tea but I should have ordered an unsweetened tea. It was too much. I was expecting to be welcomed with respect but instead I could tell by the waitress body language that they were more scared to be themselves or say something out of the "guide lines" their boss offers. My family and I witnessed the manger yelling at his workers in the back over the smallest things. Even though the music was extremely loud, everyone was able to hear his slurs.
