I've gone about five times now and this was by far my least favorite experience (I still liked it, but I was a little disappointed), which was unfortunate since this was my parent's first experience here. My only issues were the food, so here's my opinion on each one we ordered: 1. Thai Tea - 4.8/5 - Definitely one of the best Thai Teas at a restaurant. Though I could still use more of the Thai Tea base flavor rather than milk, everyone at my table still enjoyed this drink. 2. Red Curry - 4.5/5 - Quite nice and had very good flavor. I don't love the addition of bell peppers in here, but that's a personal preference. 3. Pad See Ew - 3/5 - Kind of basic. Nothing made it stand out and noodles this kind of stuck together and became mushy. 4. Pad Thai - 3/5 - I've gotten this twice before, and for some reason it just tasted completely different and nothing like what Pad Thai should actually taste like. Not bad, but just not what you want when eating a Pad Thai. Noodles were also pretty mushy. 5. Steamed Fillet Snapper - 4/5 - Fairly clean and nice tasting, but just a little too plain for my taste. Still, a great option if you want something lighter for your meal. 6. Rib Eye Pepper Steak Thai Style - 4/5 - I really liked the sauce for this one and the beef was cooked very well, but the garlic they chose to put on top was extremely bitter and ruined my thoughts on the dish. I love this place, but this experience was the first time I've ever questioned going back here again. I hope this time was just a fluke. read more

Food 3.5 Service 2.5 Panhandlers -10 We came into town for my brother's birthday and this is where he and his bestie wanted to go. When we got to the restaurant, we had a nice table reserved as I called in advance. So a positive start. Food - our servers were able to accommodate our vegetarian requests which was also a positive. From here we went down hill. I ordered the priciest Chardonnay $64 which was corked. I had to chase down the server and she told me to open the next bottle myself. I refused and then she said she couldn't open another bottle as her boss would charge her for opening two bottles. Like bad wine that was stored upright. Hence corked. I finally ordered two glasses of a less expensive wine which was fine. Food was ok. Not spectacular but fine. And the dessert was probably our star attraction which was a very pretty presentation. I did mention that we were celebrating a birthday when I made the reservation, but that might have been lost in the language issues. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All in, I might have said dinner was nice, but for some reason the staff allowed aggressive panhandlers to disturb guests. First was the guy trying to sell Krispy Kreme donuts. It was delicious, the bar had a wide selection of wines and spirits, and their thai tea is one of the best I've had. The prices were very reasonable. Absolutely loved dining here! Visited on a Friday evening and it was really empty! Only about 4-5 other customers. The space is beautiful with views of the water, outdoor lights, and a big indoor chandelier. Our waitress was super sweet! Unfortunately, the bartender wasn't in so we couldn't order cocktails, but there was a great selection of wine and beer. The house chardonnay was great! For food, we got the chicken yellow curry and chicken pad see ew. The curry was very flavorful, and the rice came in a heart shape. The pad see ew was great too! The mango sticky rice came with a generous amount of mango; which was sweet and ripe! The restrooms were also very clean, and there was plenty of parkin right outside the entrace and on the side roads. It felt so fresh and crunchy, the peanut sauce was sweet and savory, definitely a must. We had the Shrimp Noodle Tom Yum, this was fenomenal! It was more on the sweet side, but the sourness balanced it, a little spicy, and the coriander just made all the flavors pop! I would order again. Also tried the Thai Basil Duck, which came with white rice, this dish was very colorful, looked very appetizing, the duck was tender, fatty (not crispy) and juicy, the vegetables were crunchy and the sauce with hints of basil, a little sweet and savory. Hands down, the best Thai food in the Kemah, Seabrook, and League City area! We decided to try Merlion for a change, but unfortunately, the food lacked flavor, and the service was slow--we even had to cancel our drinks because we finished eating and they keep saying they will bring out the Sake 3 times.. we were not going to wait for it, so we headed to Nam Thai instead, and as always, they did not disappoint! The flavors were bold and authentic. We love the beef Larb, Tiger Cry, Tom Yum Soup, and fried tofu, and we've tried all their curries--each one full of rich, delicious flavor. Highly recommend! Came on a Saturday, surprisingly wasn't packed at all. Learned that this restaurant is family owned and operated. They had outdoor seating which was nice during this weather. Our server was very nice and welcoming; however, the food took pretty long for not being a busy day. They were also out of chicken. I ordered the Green Curry with a side of sticky rice, and mango sticky rice for dessert. Prior to ordering I asked the waitress if the curry was spicy, she said it only had a small kick in it from the paste they use. However, upon eating it, it was definitely too spicy for my taste. If you love spice, then this is a great option. Even though it was spicy, I'm a sucker for southeast asian curries and this one tasted amazing. To be honest the sticky rice wasn't that sticky. I loved the mango sticky rice for dessert and highly recommend topping your meal off with that. Nam Thai was recommended by friends. They have a whole vegetarian section on their menu. The place is quite small indoors; they also have outdoor seating, which we did not check out. We never got a paper menu; we were left alone for a bit after being seated. So we perused the online menus we could find on Yelp, and figured out what to order. After a bit of a wait, I walked up to the bar and asked if I could order there. The ladies at the bar were quick to apologize and walked me back to my seat and took our order. We ordered the pad kee mao vegetarian, and the tofu red curry vegetarian. We were asked how spicy we wanted the food, on a scale of 1 to 5; we chose 2. The food arrived fairly quickly, and the flavors were excellent. The spice level though felt more like 3.5 to us. Next time we'll have to try ordering a spice level of 1 to see if that works better for us. The staff were quite friendly, and checked in on us a few minutes afterwards. We asked for extra rice, which was brought in short order. At the end of the meal we were again left alone for a long while, and finally I walked over to the bar again to ask for the check. I'm a sucker for a good Thai restaurant, but I'm not (yet) sure that this joint deserves major kudos. First, when I walked in, I experienced deja vu. I had eaten here previously when this place was a restaurant that featured really delicious modern American fare. Too bad they went out of business. Still this location is seemingly awesome, and the atmosphere here is wonderfully Boho and quite comfy, As you might tell by my photos, my first visit here was an experience straight from the appetizers menu. Quite simply, the recipes were phenomenal, but the kitchen overcooked the chicken and calamari. Both were ... rubbery. The shrimp and veggie egg rolls were nice. The beer selection, which includes a couple of quaffs from Thailand, is also good. Service here is exceptional. I plan to return and sample more menu items. One really cool thing here is that they use Kaffir Lime leaves in their cooking, which is legit. Can't wait to work my way through those dishes. read more

Years ago when I lived in Massachusetts, my favorite Thai place closed. For years, I've been waiting to find a new place that was on par with my old one. Well... I found it! I need extra stars - 10/5. Upon walking in, it smelled amazing. We weren't sure what we felt like eating for lunch but quickly decided on here with one whiff. The staff is absolutely fabulous and man do they know how to make cocktails! The crab rangoons are the best I've ever had. I swear I floated off my chair up to food heaven. The pad Thai was phenomenal and an awesome portion size. I LOVE pad Thai and usually eat an entire dish but I had to take some home! I ended up eating the rest of it for dinner too that day. Cozy, simple, laid-back eatery in the heart of Kemah. On the outer limits of the Lighthouse District not too far from the Boardwalk kind you. I've been to several Thai restaurants in the area, but I believe Nam Thai serves what I consider the best Panang Curry I've ever eaten. It all comes down to one thing: spice. Anyone who has eaten curry at a Thai place before was asked to pick a number between one and five, with one being bland as Hell and five hot enough to melt steel. I usually get my curry at Level 3. I was blown away by how the aromatic, flavorful dish packed a nice punch. I was able to taste the heat of the spices yet I didn't need to quickly reach for my iced tea. There was even a solid ratio between the meat -- I ordered chicken to be specific -- and the vegetables. Wish I had more rice, though. I also highly recommend the chicken satay. The accompanying peanut sauce glazes nicely with the curry-flavored meat, combining for a wonderful sweet and sour experience for the taste buds. read more

Met a friend for an early dinner on a Wednesday evening for dinner. We started with crab Rangoon and shrimp spring rolls...yum! Entrees were Pad Pei which had mussels, shrimp, and clams combined with veggies and this fantastic sauce. At 5 o'clock on a Friday there was no wait which was nice. We were seated immediately and our order was taken shortly after. We got the pass kee mao, pad see ew, and the jerky. All 3 dishes were delicious and were filled with flavor. You can change the spice level which is always nice for extra flavor. We also got Thai tea and it was very yummy. We saw first hand why this place was so busy. We got to enjoy live music during our visit, but that was just the bonus! The food was authentic Thai. It wasn't watered down to try and woo pallets unfamiliar with the Thai cuisine or culture. Service was prompt and our waters were often refilled. Especially on during these hot Texas days! When planning a surprise party, a few elements are vital: good food, amazing service and adequate venue space. Nam Thai's head chef Sky, return my call to take pre-order and set up the party table in the upstairs loft. The Thai tea provided a beautiful table setting and the color scheme of the restaurant was divine. The food was served perfectly as if it was a time and orchestrated wedding venue. My time mom was so happy and our guests were delighted with the tasty hot and fresh food! I will definitely return. My only suggestions would be: chicken sauté a little dry, Pad see eww noodles could've used more gravy and the coconut sticky rice could've been warmer and more wet with coconut sauce. So I've been really a lot considering it's about an hour drive but I think it's worth it especially if the owner sky is there cooking otherwise it's good anyway. Best would be there Thai tea is hands-down the best in Houston and of course it's not even technically in Houston. Som tum Laos with chicken wings and sausage and sticky rice I'm sure the Thai style is good as well just haven't tried it. Tom Yum soup is pretty good as well as their fried rice. The fried red snapper is great. Don't forget the mango sticky rice oh and sometimes they have homemade coconut ice cream Yum Yum Yum. Most definitely coming back soon! read more

A friend of mine suggested Nam Thai for dinner so we went on a Thursday night. When we first got there we were the only customers but eventually more came in, though the restaurant never got busy. Our servers were friendly and patient and answered all of our questions. The food came out promptly: a salad, a jerky appetizer, a soup, pad Thai, and curry. We also got some drinks because it was happy hour. My husband said the beer was excellent. The salad is very spicy but delicious. It was the best thing we had there. The jerky is... interesting. It comes out hot, which surprised me a little. It's basically dried beef with a sweet chili dipping sauce. The rest of the food was very good, too, except everything tastes overly sweet. It's delicious, but it's sooo sweet. The interior and exterior of the restaurant is gorgeous and the bathroom is clean. I wouldn't mind going back but my go-to Thai place is still Thai Stellar on Nasa. This place is nice, though, and close to home. read more
