Chicken pad thai

It's gonna be a no for me. I should have just went with the shrimp instead of chicken. It was rubbery and dry and hard to chew. Rice was mid. Noodles were fine.

Take out only!

Thai kitchen is only offering take out at this time. I visited in early June of 2021 (7 months ago) and it was the same way. Food - I was very much into the sliced jalapenos. They were tasty, spicy, and sliced vertically instead of the normal (at least to me) circular fashion. I note the slice pattern because the jalapeno tasted different. More spice, less pepper maybe? It complimented the lightly sauced cabbage and veggies. Solid serving sizes. Great flavors. Service - Excellent service. Very friendly and accommodating from the moment I walked in. I think they have had time to iron out the take out game and they do it with ease and efficiency. Cleanliness - The entire restaurant has tables and chairs pushed up and stacked against the walls. On the table closest to the door, there were sauces to go. Things like chili paste and soy sauce. This area was clean and neat, which is impressive since there could have been spilled sauces everywhere. Notables - I think it is called mi grop. It's not on the menu. (I heard about it from a regular patron of this restaurant). When I mentioned it over the phone, they immediately knew and were happy to make it.

At first glance, this appeared to be a Thai take on "Turo Turo" dining (see: https://www.yelp.com/biz/eldrics-pinoy-cooking-anchorage) A hot case where you pick three things you want, for $11, and then you are on your way. I got that. But when I sat down I realized they also had a menu. When I saw the menu items other customers had order begin to arrive, I realized I had made a big mistake. The food was good, but I found the portions to be very underwhelming. A massive mound of white rice, and tree small scoops of the Thai food. I was pretty impressed by the default level of heat some of these had. (again, for Alaska) Get some food from the case if you're in a hurry and don't have much of an appetite. Everyone else should order from the menu. Which I will do, when I return! (and update this review)

I've been wanting to eat here for a while. My son and his girlfriend come frequently. They brought me on a Saturday. I have to tell you, the weekend hours are perfect for me. They open at 5 p.m. so come then because they seem to get busy fast. The menu is extensive! There's not much I wouldn't try. The restaurant is immaculate. There's a little stern woman behind cooking and the food is just sublime. I got a red curry at my son's recommendation. It was delicious! Spicy and flavorful. I love the presentation of the rice. The little cups and pitcher are adorable. I'm going to order takeout and come in again and again. Another seeimgly underestimated and unassuming place. Don't pass it by stop in. Yum!

I'll start this noting that we're in the middle of the corona virus pandemic and maybe it's affecting quality... Have had ok dishes before from this place and not so great dishes but today was disappointing and I thought I'd add a rating, and pics bec. We ordered takeout: fresh rolls, fried rolls and chicken satay. The chicken was good. The fried rolls were dripping grease and tasted like rancid oil. The fresh rolls were lacking, specifically the shrimp which looked like it came out of a can... seriously disappointed. Update: Thai Kitchen you have been redeemed, just got lunch and it's not only beautiful bit tastes amazing!! Noodle delight w rice noodles instead of glass. Y. U. M!!! Soooo many fresh veggies and not too much sauce. Scrumptious

I havent been here since before the pandemic. I work close so thai kitchen and they were always one of my regular places (at least once a week!!) I'm so happy to know its just as good as before! They open at 5pm for to-go dinner orders. I got there on time and they had everything structured out. I didnt mind waiting the extra five minutes while they finished prepping my order and the gentleman brought it to my car so I didnt have to wait in the restraunt. Everything was just as good as I remember. THAI KITCHEN is amazing. thank you for serving and im so thankful they didn't close!

I got massaman beef. But where's the beef? I only got 3 pieces of beef and everything is onions and potato.

I am disappointed with this place. I never liked their Lunch special but I gave it a try again. DON'T GO TO THAI KITCHEN FOR THEIR LUNCH SPECIAL BECAUSE THEY WILL CHEAP OUT. 3 entrees for $11. You can get an entree or lunch special at a different Thai restaurant for the same price for more food. The picture says it all...

But tonight, after going to a different Thai food restaurant, who are now takeout only, which is a no-go, I needed an alternate, so I randomly selected from Yelp, a good Thai food recommendation, and when this appeared, I realised it was the place where I'd gotten the good Massaman from. However, their description states they are noted for their standout Panang. The interior is ok, not fine dining, standard tables and chairs, not too cluttered with artwork, and music was playing. As I also love Panang, I chose to have that with chicken, and husband ordered something called Khao Mu Dang. We also ordered a Thai Tea. The server was energetic, and smiled a lot. We didn't have to wait long, I was served a hefty portion of rice, and a big bowl of curry sauce. Mine came out first, and I started without him. I must say that I do agree, this is standout Panang, and it's the best I've had in Anchorage. It's just the right amount of kick. Just enough to get my nose running after a few mouthfuls. The sauce is amazing, and the chicken is plentiful, and very tender, and I do have leftover sauce and rice in the fridge for later. If it were served on its own as a soup, without rice, I'd call it "Chicken Soup for the Soul" because it surely did my soul good, even eating it alone without rice. Superb, perfectly spiced, perfectly seasoned, deliciously umami. I think I could eat this several times a week, and not feel cheated. His dish had some pretty spectacularly flavoured pork, it was delicious, and the sauce, yet again, so good, but his was what they call a "dry dish" whereas mine was "soupy" or maybe they call it wet. I don't know, all I know is, that the amount of times I was saying "mmmm" was kind of embarrassing. So, that was an absolutely delightful dinner, and I'm grateful because we'd not been anywhere in recent weeks that thrilled me like this. Will definitely be back for more. The Thai Tea was also very good.

Food doesn't come out as quick as other pho places but definitely worth the wait. Will visit again during my next trip! Staff is very friendly and a lot of space inside as well. FOOD: Lao Pork Sausage (8/10) - Can't find this in many places. Amazing!!! Super juicy, slightly salty sausage that pairs perfectly with the sauce and rice. Would get again! Pho Beef Combo (8/10) - Huge portion sizes for the price (superbowl). Amazing!! Broth and noodles are perfect Pho Tendon (7/10) - Also can't get this in many other places, but comes with so much tendon if you like it! Lao Fresh Rolls (6/10) - Solid spring rolls but the chicken is a little bit dry. I would get it again with only the shrimp. Shrimp Eggroll (5/10) - A fried shrimp in wonton wrapper, would skip this.

This one also had imitation krab, which is fine but not my favorite. The side dish of garnishes was kind of weak, just bean sprouts, lime and jalepenos. I wish it had cilantro. They must have been out of basil that day too, because we didn't get any with the pho. I want to find a seafood pho with fish cake or house made seafood balls. I think I maybe set my expectations a bit high since moving from Hawaii, every pho place there is a peak experience. My husband tried the beef brisket massaman curry which he thought was very watery and very light in the spice department, which he didn't like much. However our child loved her small kid size chicken pho and we all loved the mango smoothie. It's one of the most flavorful smoothies with perfectly thick blended consistency that you can still suck up the straw. Ambiance is kind of old, dank, dark, and dated but also holds some oddly charming quality nonetheless. Service was straight-forward. Special s/o to the man who welcomed us in, immediately fetched a high chair for our child, and then also helped me with my giant diaper bag which he didn't have to do but was very appreciated. I bet he's a dad.
