I've never been to Thailand so can't judge if it's authentic or not though the owner/cook/chef, Noi, is a native so she's authentic. Have been there many times and have always found the food, fresh, flavorful, and delicious. And for me, that's how I judge if I've enjoyed my experience. I always have at Noi's. And the service is always great. Be on the lookout for Lenny, the Fonzi look-a-like. Being Vegan, they've always been able to accommodate me as well as the Ashveille Veg group who recommends it as well. read more

We walked in 15 minutes before closing and was greeted by a warm welcome as the humble owner sat us as he tells us a little about the menu. "UGH!" That's about all I can say about Noi's. I don't remember what exactly I ordered, but if I wasn't starving I definitely would not have eaten it; it was bland, the tofu was dry and tough, and the sauce was DISGUSTING! And I'm not saying this because I am a picky eater or because I don't like Asian cuisine. In fact, I LOVE Asian food. But this dish was TERRIBLE!! The service was also quite awful. I ordered my meal to-go, and although it was done quickly, the person who took my order thought it'd be funny to joke with me about how rushed I seemed. I told him my dog was in the car and I was just really hungry, but didn't mind waiting. He responded to me by laughing and then turned to a few coworkers and said something in a different language. Noi's is definitely a good pick for Asheville restaurants. Both their lunch and dinner menus have a wide variety of good food to choose from. Their dinner menu has at least 3 duck choices, which is a rare find for us. I have had several of the traditional dishes such as the curry and pad thai. Both are very good and always fresh. They do not overcook their meats, which is a big plus! Their fish curry is unbelievable! It was all I could do to keep my hands out of my friend's plate. Exquisitely prepared and presented. Their coconut soup is heavenly, but hot as hell even at medium spicy, so if you are not into spicy, order it mild to no spice. The Tom Yum and the larb gai are also very good. Their spring rolls are yummy, but I suggest ordering the sauce on the side. They drench them in it if you do not. And if you get the sauce on the side and have leftovers - remind them to put the sauce in a separate container. Their service is excellent! read more

I thought the low reviews were for the price. Yelpers are right, it is expensive but more importantly the food is POOR. Rating is for dinner on a Friday night. Tom Gai soup was at best watery, overloaded with poorly cut red onions. Might have had some coconut milk in there -- or was that white dish water? Chicken Satay was greasy, and the peanut sauce seemed like shitty Jiff. Curry was watery -- not curry -- something else. Pad Thai was just mediocre. Oddly enough the shrimp in the Pad Thai and the duck in the curry were excellently cooked. So they do proteins well -- neat. That gets them a save from a one-star. if you 5-starred this place please donate your tongue to someone that can properly use it. Or for the love of all that is holy, go to a good Thai restaurant before you die. read more

I've had mixed experiences here, but I like it enough to keep going back. The curries --red, green and yellow -- are all standard fare, but nicely done. The veggies are crisp and bright with lovely garnishes and the coconut milk sauce is well balanced. My main complaint is that dishes can be way too salty, and are rarely spicy enough. My husband had a disappointing pineapple rice entree followed by a nice red snapper dish. Service is a mixed bag -- the main waiter is a super friendly young guy who reminds me of the Thai version of Wayne from "Wayne's World," but he's very sweet and competent. The owner of the restaurant has a habit of wandering from table to table talking to customers and I find myself shrinking from his attention. I like to dine in peace. Really liked this place when it opened some time a while back. The taste of the food has declined remarkably in the last 2 yrs. Stir frys are watery. I asked for extra chicken in my takeout stir fry and got a stirofoam box with shreads of chicken instead of the chicken being incorporated in the meal. Spring rolls are pretty routinely burned in takeout. As for dining in, the people are really nice, the service good but the meals are not worth the effort. Sad. read more

Nois has friendly service, a nice atmosphere and convenient location. The food came out quickly, etc. In comparison to other Thai restaurants their food is very different. I really enjoy the Phad Ke Mao at Thai orchid and Thai basil but did not like nois at all. It was very expensive for what tasted like a can of chicken noodle soup with poorly cooked tofu on top. The noodles weren't stir fried and the food just tasted weak and empty. The only veggies were carrots and onion, and I crave Thai for its diverse ingredients. We had a terrible experience with our visit to Noi's Thai. We ordered to go with some friends for dinner. When we went to pick it up, for some reason our order of two entrees was $30! They didn't really offer any explanation of why the total was so high. Then when we got home, the portions were not even halfway filling the to go containers and the green beans in my husband's meal were spoiled. He had to push them to the side and eat just shrimp, rice and little slivers of onion. My dish wasn't terrible, but it wasn't worth what we paid for it. I judge a Thai restaurant by their Thai Tea and I love theirs! Although it's not made like some Thai restaurant's with the milk on the bottom, tea on the top, it's still VERY GOOD.
