The food is ok. They don't have a lot of options really. The staff seems as though they're hurrying you. They are not friendly at all. They took my friends plate and fork without asking if she was done. We had to ask for another fork and the server was trying to question us as to why. It's really dark in there. In my experience, the service is exceptional. The food is good, although understandably, it being buffet in the slower times of day, it may be just a bit tired. My husband and I stopped in to Golden Wok for lunch. The building and overall decor isn't anything special, but it was nice and clean; we were promptly attended, and the server was friendly enough... This is a no-frills establishment, but the value for their buffet is excellent, and pretty much everything we ate was delicious. Very impressed that their sushi was fresh and tasty and that they had such a wide variety of options for a great price. In the years since I have lived part time in the area this establishment has gone from a 1 star review with nothing positive to say about it to a 5 star review! I don't know what has transitioned over the time be it new cook? New owner? Forced to up their game during Covid? Less concentration on buffet and more focus on take out? Whatever the cause I have to say they have stepped up their game to the point I actually look forward to carry out rather than a desperate settling for anything that isn't a fast food burger or chicken. So far since my reintroduction with Golden Wok all the chicken dishes are all white meat, the beef is real sliced beef not that weird grey stuff that many Chinese carry out places serve now days and the pork is thick cut and roasted. All meat I've had is tender. Mei Fun is always my go to Chinese dish and then I like to accompany it by another protein entree which I change up based on my mood. So far everything has been well sauced and seasoned, not bland, and very generous portions especially at their quite reasonable rates. Their Hot & Sour soup has a nice punch and rich flavor and texture. My original review a few years ago warned patrons not to dine here. Some years later I can now say with confidence I would suggest getting carry out from here. Their online ordering is process and all orders have been accurate and their packets of sauces, utensils, etc are self service so I appreciate they don't dole out packets of soy sauce like it's their first born as I have experienced quite a bit in this area. read more

This little Chinese joint deserves more respect. The place is always empty, when I go for takeout, but the buffet line is always operating. The menu is pretty standard and lengthy, with all your favorites. Even french fries, if you like- I thought that was only a Midwestern thing. - The food is fresh, well-prepared, and the portions are ridiculously large. Too large, for my taste, because who needs that many leftovers in the fridge? I recommend the Singapore Mei Fun, with hot and sour soup. We got take out from here the other day and it was awful. We spent almost $40 and while the mei fun and sesame balls were okay, that was the worst fried rice and sesame tofu I have ever had. Doesn't even deserve the one star. Went on Saturday at 5pm,(dinner time). Not only was the food skimpy but had already been out for some time. The only good thing we had was the spring rolls. We took 3 children (under 10), who would normally agree anything was at least descent to eat, even they said it wasn't any good. They were not busy at all but yet our waitress tried to sit us nearly right on top of another table. Having three kids we then asked for booth elsewhere so we didn't interefere with someone else's dinner, which seemed to annoy her. Again, the food was skimpy. My daughter & I had maybe had 3 pieces each of seasame chicken before it was empty & food wasn't even hot, it was barely warm enough to be edible. The food is tasty, the staff are super friendly and I know most folk are happy with Westernized Chinese food but I lived in Singapore and Beijing and all I ask is for extra, extra spicy when I order and it never is. Coming home late from a hard day of work, my wife and I were in the mood for Chinese food. We got there a half hour before closing just hoping that what we got would be, at a minimum, edible. There was a very sweet lady at the front, she patiently took our order and treated us with great respect and welcome. Our wait was only about 15 minutes and our food arrived hot. The bag was heavier that I expected for the small amount we paid. We took it home and enjoyed it. It was fantastic. The next day we had the leftovers for dinner and are still full from it. I had a hard time ordering takeout because these people don't speak good English. The menu says things like "vegetable delight - vegetarian dish with meat sauce"??? I ordered the 'vegetable chow mein (crispy noodles)' but they didn't give me any noodles, just vegetables! When I came back to complain about this, the lady said "No noodles in chow mein." Excuse me??? I'm not Chinese, but everyone knows that 'mein' means noodles, and 'chow' means fried. Chow mein = fried noodles. They were quick to give me some noodles, but while I was waiting the lady kept pointing at the menu saying, "See, there's no noodles in chow mein" where it was written "crispy noodles"!!! They definitely need to hire someone who speaks Chinese and English, and update their menu. The food wasn't the greatest either, so it' snot worth the hassle. Most of the time I go here I walk out very satisfied the last time I went in it was after 3pm the food was awful I couldn't even eat it was that bad. After several bad experiences at all the north Asheville Chinese resturants, I decided to try this new Chinese resturant in Weaverville. I ordered takeout online and order was ready in 30 minutes. Service was friendly and restaurant was clean. They have a 95.1 sanitation score. The food is fresh and tastes great! I had the sesame chicken which was tender and seasoned well. My husband had the beef lo mein which was also excellent. I'm Sooooo glad there's a great Chinese resturant near north Asheville! read more
