I lived in Thailand twice for extended periods of time and Thai Kumkoon makes just as good If not a better Pad Thai w shrimp. Highly recommended and the shrimp is the best I have had anywhere in a very long time and I eat out regularly. The owner is a sweetheart and we had a delightful conversation about energy fields and Shaolin Kung fu. The fortune cookies are also the best I ever had. Bravo!!!! read more

There are some dishes at Thai Kumkoon that are just incredible. The buffet is tiny with a fairly small number of options, but they usually have at least 2 standout dishes on the buffet. The menu offers plenty of options, if you go that route. The big issue is the service, which may have gone downhill since they moved. No one took our drink order, so we ended up with water and no one ever checked up on us after seating. Needless to say, no tip... and I'm usually a pretty big tipper. I don't know if they've just gotten tired, but it sure seems like they were more customer friendly a few years ago, not to mention 20 or so. read more

Thai Kum Koon is delicious. I highly recommend the lunch buffet. If you are ordering off the menu, I highly recommend the Pra Ram Tofu, which is delicious fried cubes of tofu and crisp-tender vegetables swimming in a ginormous pool of gooey peanut sauce. Delicious. Wonderful. Just an FYI here, cause it took my oblivious self about five years to notice this: There is white rice available on the buffet. It's next to the salad buffet area in a giant steamer. The only drawbacks to this place are the ambiance and the service. All I ever eat here is the Evil Jungle Chicken, so my review only applies to that menu item. I also get Sprite from the fountain station. It is about the same as any Sprite you can get in town. I think it goes well with Evil Jungle Chicken. The Evil Jungle Chicken to me is one of the top three dishes one can get in Norman. And it is the best named dish I have ever eaten. Ever. And I don't foresee another dish coming along in my future with a better name, either. Every time I get the Evil Jungle Chicken, I wish I could eat it every day. Thai Kumkoon has been around for-I think-about 20 years. And you don't have a restaurant on the ghost town-esque neighborhood of West Lindsey between Berry and McGee for that long unless you have great food. read more

I lived in Southeast Asia for 3 years and we traveled to Thailand frequently as it is one of my favorites. I love Thai food, both from the street vendors and the restaurants. I've only been for the lunch buffet, but that's all I've heard it's worth going for. There are definitely other Thai places in Norman that I would frequent before here, but I found the lunch buffet cute. Not a massive selection, but we all liked what we had and were full by the end of it. I'd try the buffet again. read more

My go-to for Thai food. Hands down, its the best Thai. They have a lunch buffet that caters to all. The food is always fresh and as the buffet empties they are quick to refill. Used to go here in my undergrad days at OU. Was always excellent. Went again this past Thursday evening for some take out. The shrimp fried rice was excellent as was the chicken pad wunsen. Just had the best Panang curry here. The wait time is a bit long, but totally worth it.

This is much more authentic than any other Thai restaurant I've had in Oklahoma. I've had a few dishes here including the Pad Kee Mao, some spicy (it was HOT) coconut soup, chicken satay, some chicken and veggie stir fry dish, and a few others. Everything has been good except the stir fry dish (don't remember what it was called). It was super bland. Like, no sauce or spices at all; no flavor. That was weird. The people that run this place are nice, but they keep it a family run joint, and that's hurting them. The service has been slower than slow. Twice. Like, winter time molasses slow. However, the last time I went there was at the right time of day or something, and I walked in, got seated, and was eating 10 minutes later. If it's not a normal meal time of the day, check this place out! If there are more than three tables of people, just try again another time. The food is pretty good overall, though. read more

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST THAI RESTAURANTS IN OKLAHOMA. I have eaten at many thai restaurants (considering thai food is my favorite food) before and this thai restaurant tops it all. Thai food is my favorite cuisine and I would definitely say this Thai Kumkoon fulfills my appetite. When living in Norman, I use to go here every week but now since I moved, it's very rare that I stop by. I do try to every chance I am in Norman. I went there for supper with friends in July 2011. The service was efficient and courteous. For an entree, I ordered chicken fried rice, extra spicy. Indeed, it was extra spicy and flavoured using Thai herbs and spices, lending authenticity. Pricing was average to slightly low by local standards, so it was cheap. We were expecting a menu but noticed it was a buffet restaurant as soon as we walked in....maybe because we went on a weekend. This place is a very casual, small restaurant. It's also messy esp. the bathroom. It's not infant friendly either because of that. Lunch time was crowded..full of college students. If you never had Thai food then buffet is a nice way to try different items but their Thai food is just okay. read more
