Back from a long drive from the coast, we followed the yelp review to the barrio to try Thai of Norcross. We had high hopes, upon walking in. Place was crowded, Owners and staff looked Thai so it must be good, right? Wrong. We had Penang which was very bland, basic and just overall pedestrian. The bell peppers in it were undercooked, it was very creamy and lacked flavor almost as though the curry paste was not really there. We also had the Pad Kee Mao, which was also very basic. It lacked the more complex flavor that most Thai places nail. It tasted liked Chow Fun with some hot oil and some basil thrown in for good measure. The beef used in it was very low grade, much like a corner Chinese take out place. Lastly, my mate ordered spring rolls which were two run off the mill Chinese buffet style veggie friend rolls. This place is not expensive, but I would not say cheap per say either at almost $10 for curry, $8 for noodles, and $3.50 for two small spring rolls. Perhaps if prices better reflected the relative quality my review would be less harsh. At 3pm on a Sunday the place was packed, so I guess they have the pricing power. Look, in L.A. some of the best cheap Thai food is tucked away in a small Thai Town deep in the Latin hood. Unfortunately, unlike L.A., this establishment cooks to basic cheap Mexican taste. Lots of oil and sugar. I guess I get it as that is the environment. I grab illegals for $8 labor a few blocks. But given my experiences in other cities, I expected high quality then corner Chinese food. I guess me and Thai of Norcross were not meant to be, I will not be back. read more

I should of left a review on this place a long time ago. I've been coming to this place for the past 6 years. One of THE BEST Thai places ive been too. What to order: My go to for this spot has always been Basil Beef Fried Rice with a cup of Panang Curry on the side. (You will thank me later for this). I also had the chance to try there BBQ ribs which tasted AMAZING. I highly recommend this place. On the weekneds for lunch this place gets PACKED out. The wait time can be long so get here a little early. The only issue I have of this place is it tends to smell at times. Not all the times but once in awhile. I rate this place 9/10. read more

I've lived in Georgia my entire life until recently and my family, friends, and I frequented this place. This is my favorite Thai place by far. As far as I know, it's the most authentic that I've had too. Always order a thai tea. It's the perfect sweet and milky addition to your almost always spicy dinner. I get the same thing everytime I come - the spicy seafood soup, papaya salad, and spicy basil seafood dish. Never ceases to disappoint. The soup comes out in weird aluminum bowl thing with basically fire going through the middle. It's the perfect tangy and spicy combination. The cold papaya salad is awesome - dried shrimp, basil, chili - tastes like its doused with fish sauce. Basil seafood dish is basically what you'd expect - they don't really jip you out on the fish/squid/shrimp either. Will definitely have to pay this place a visit when I'm back for the holidays. read more

Off the charts authentic Thai dining in Norcross - who would have thought. Have been dining here for 15+ years. Laid back and casual decor with cool huts at each booth. Friendly and helpful waitstaff - owners are always on premise and helpful with recommendations that are spot on and assistance in eating as needed (eg - helping one crack open the Basil Lobster or how to eat the Three Spice Fish. Thai Nationals in abundance (which is a good sign). Very extensive menu - must be 100+ dishes available and they will make anything not on the menu that you ask for. Seasoning and spiciness to ones liking - mild to Thai hot. Wow ! First time visiting this restaurant - it's not near where I live at all , but so worth the drive . The coconut soup is amazing . We also had egg rolls , chicken fried rice and 3 way fish . It's been a while since I've been back. I remember when I used to go strictly with my parents. We would venture back for the 3 flavor fish. It consisted of a tangy sauce that was spicy, sour, sweet...I think that covers the "3 flavor" range. This time around, I ordered the papaya salad, the basil chicken, and the house special. Papaya salad consists of thinly sliced green papaya with a slightly tangy, slightly salty dressing. It's labeled as "spicy" but it didn't really cover the level of "spiciness" I wanted. It also came with fried pork rinds and 1/4 of a cabbage head. I ordered the basil chicken and asked for it to be spicier than advertised...still not spicy enough. However, it was flavorful and beautifully presented. My boyfriend got the house special---6 pieces of satay chicken and shrimp fried rice. The shrimp fried rice tasted really shrimpy with a tomato bite to it. The satay chicken was excellent---it complemented the peanut sauce wonderfully! Total cost? $25 without tip. I am a big sucker for Thai food, and this place just happens to be close to where my boyfriend lives so it naturally became one of my go-to spots. Location and Parking: 3.5 It is located near a bunch of Hispanic stores, so for someone who isn't used to Jimmy Carter or Buford Highway, it can be a little intimidating. But once you go inside, the place looks cozy and clean. The place can be a little crammed since it is almost always packed and the tables are pretty close together. It has its own parking lot but it gets full easily. Food: 4 They have a good variety of authentic Thai dishes here, especially the salads. They also gave a generous portion for the price. The only thing I don't like about this place is that I think their dishes tend to be on the greasier side (not sure if anyone else feels the same way). My favorite dishes here are the papaya salad, pad thai (comes with pork & shrimp!), basil beef, and spicy flat noodles. Oh and you must try the mango sticky rice for dessert! Service: 4 Your usual Asian restaurant service - not the best, but they'll get you what you need. Food comes out pretty quick. Thank goodness I found this place on Yelp when I was in the area. We stopped by for lunch, and the restaurant itself isn't very showy or anything. It looks legit though--these people are Thai and their priority is to serve some tasty real Thai food, not to make the atmosphere fancy and modern or anything. They have a lunch menu and my mom got the basil beef entree and I ordered some pad thai. The basil beef comes with bell peppers and is a bit spicy, and you can definitely taste the basil flavor in the beef. The pad thai was delicious! They serve it with fresh bean sprouts on the side, but I don't like raw bean sprouts so I didn't mix those in. The pad thai came with shrimp and pork. The bill came out to be around 16 dollars--what a steal! And the portions are huge too. The food was fast, the service was good, and the food was satisfying. Perfectly seasoned and tender meats with sauces not overly salty. Had the beef salad to start and initially ordered pad thai. However server suggested spicy noodles when I said it was my first visit. He later brought over vinegar with sliced jalapeños soaking in them and suggested I add some to my noodle dish. Good call, server man. (I think he said his name was Woody. Leave him a nice tip.) A little spicy vinegar brought out the flavors of the dish adding a subtle tang. Also, they use fresh jumbo shrimp in their fried rice. Thai Restaurant of Norcross is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Georgia and my go-to for Thai food. My family and I have been frequent customers of this restaurant over the years and they have never failed to impress. The food and service are always fantastic and the ambiance is nice. Just make sure you arrive before or after the dinner rush, as there is not really a waiting area and the wait can sometimes be pretty lengthy! We have tried all sorts of food on the menu over the years and we've settled on a routine set up. We usually load up on appetizers for the table, share a single entree, and get dessert if any of us are craving sweets. You honestly can't go wrong with any appetizer. We often get fancy Thai shrimp, some sort of salad (beef, shrimp, or papaya), chicken satay or chicken wings, shrimp rolls, fried calamari, and mussels. For our entree, we tend to switch between the ground chicken with jalapeños (recommended with a fried egg!), green curry, big shrimp soup, and crab fried rice. The pad Thai and Rama beef are also good options. For dessert, I absolutely love the mango ice cream, though their other flavors are good also (Red Bean and Green Tea). I believe they get their ice cream from a distributor called Green Forest or something along those lines. They say they make their coconut ice cream themselves. Their fried ice cream, mango sticky rice, and fried bananas are also very good. Their service is also amazing. The waiters are very attentive and friendly, oftentimes making conversation. I'll give a 4th star just because its in gwinnett and i think the authenticity matches or surpasses the 5-6 other Thai restaurants i've tried. Plus the low prices/portions are a huge plus. They do have a special green menu that you must ask for. We had thai tea, chicken coconut milk soup, beef salad, and crab fried rice. All were good. Even my 5 yr old taste tester enjoyed the soup & fried rice (i did ask for milder dishes with spicy condiments on the side, so i'm assuming these dishes were intentionally mild & normally have more spicy kick). -tomato in the beef salad was mushy but the herbs and other veggies were fresh/crunchy so maybe it was a bad tomato. I'm used to more flavors overall but again, they may have toned it down for my kid - and my thai taste buds are picky. -crab fried rice uses snow crab, but for only $10 its fine. -coconut milk soup was a little on bland side but its a huge family serving for $8 and wasn't watery. I desperatedly wanted to like this place. After all, a good That place is much like a good Ramen place. Kinda elusive. Unfortunately, the lunch fell short of expectations. We had their signature Basil Duck and Spicy Seafood Soup(Tom Yam). Perhaps my standards are high, but the food was put together in a hurry. Its Thai fast food. The Duck was basically, chinese brown sauce + precooked chinese roast duck + basil. The Tom Yam was precooked soup and the seafood was precooked as well. I enjoyed the Tom Kha Gai, but it still wasn't the best I've ever had. The quest to find the best never ends! BF had the Pad Thai and he swears this is the best Pad Thai he's ever had in his life. When he offered me a taste of his I ended up ditching my massaman curry and eating his food instead. It was pretty damn good and I was glad they added the peanuts even when he asked for it without. However, I wish there was more drink and less ice. -Thai coffee- I tried this for the 1st time today. Yum. Decent atmosphere on par with most nice Thai restaurants. Helpful and pleasant staff. Quick service. We started with chicken coconut soup that was among the best I have had. I bit of spice,not overdone. The cup was large. I'm glad we didn't order two bowls. For the main course we picked Pad Thai and Curried Chicken. The Pad Thai was excellent just as it should be. The Curried Chicken was good. The potato appeared to have been in the soup for long enough to start coming apart,making the soup thicker than it should be. Thai Restaurant of Norcross is probably my favorite Thai place to go! We got the 3-Flavor Fish, Pad Thai, Beef Flat Noodles, and Basil Chopped Chicken. The 3-flavor fish had lots of flavor for sure, as it has sauce on top and was about the size of 2 of my hands. The pad Thai was authentic and the noodles were perfect texture. The beef flat noodles were a little over cooked but it was amazing flavor, with the beef being SO tender. The Basil chopped chicken was the perfect spicy and salty. The portions were very generous and like traditional old style restaurants, the rice was free and unlimited. I love this place because not only do they serve authentic Thai food, but the food comes out so quickly but still manages to be so good! If you're ever in the area, I suggest trying this place out because you definitely won't regret it. Keep in mind there's a smell to the restaurant but that's a small thing to sacrifice for a lot of happy taste buds. read more

I have tried dozens of restaurants in Chicago hoping to find even one place with fried rice even comparable to here's... But nope! This place has raised the bar for all Thai food anywhere! I use to come here a lot as a kid with my family so i'm sure i've ate here over 50 times i -used to- love this place and it was my go to spot if i wanted Thai food... however, i did stop going for a couple of years and recently came back couple of times over a month ago and still enjoyed it.. But my last visit may be my actual last visit. My friend and i ordered a couple of dishes, fried rice has always been my fav here and it came out good as always, but papaya salad looked unpleasing as though they just threw food on a plate and it tasted different not in a good way then there was the coconut soup... We finished everything and only touched the coconut soup once. We did not like it at all. When i say my boyfriend gagged after tasting the soup HE GAGGED. The coconut soup tasted old and rotten it literally tasted as though it was cooked with raw meat but not in a appetizing way, it tastes like raw meat soup. Like you can taste the rotten odor if that makes sense. When we told our waiter that we didn't like it, it went downhill. He walked away and very loudly (note this restaurant is VERY small) and shouted "Table (so and so) do not like soup!" then got the two owners eyes glued on us. The male owner was in the corner peeking through a hole literally STARING. When told okay they'll take off the soup, we were handed the receipt with the soup still there. Waiting a while for our waiter to come back to tell him it's still on there, he told us to deal with it in the front. Now, it's the lady owner. FULL ON RUDE OVER A SOUP. She nasty dealing with the transaction and speaking to us rudely asking why we didn't like it and so on, we told her it did not taste good, she asked if it was too sour , we said sure. Then she went on talking about that's how it's suppose to taste its the coconut coconut soup is suppose to be really sour basically going on trying to make us sound and look like a fool. You definitely can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu at Thai Norcross. Unlike other Thai restaurants, Thai Norcross' food is not as sweet. It's well flavored and cooked to the right extent. They are usually very busy, so be aware that there maybe a wait time. The restaurant is well staffed, which keeps the service fast and efficient. The staffs are indeed very friendly. They also keep the restaurant very clean - which is a very good thing. However, FYI-in order to maintain the cleanliness they vacuum ALL the time, so you might see/hear vacuuming while you try to enjoy your dinner. read more

My first time here and the food and service was awesome! The food portions are large! Two people can share one meal. I ordered broccoli chicken, my boyfriend got the 3 flavor fish which was HUGE! Everything was tasty, their customer service is really good. The location is kind of tricky if you've never been there. It's in a plaza with barbershop and stores. There is done in as well as take out and curbside. I decided to dine in as the food is always hot and fresh off the stove. I had a soup and green curry and can't complaint. The beef was tender and well prepared and I gave it 4 stars because the beans in the curry were not well cooked and some of them were hard and the egg plant was not tender and soft to check into. Great Thai restaurant. I eat at least 6 different Thai restaurants around Atlanta and the staff here is the friendliest. I love their spring rolls because you can tell they are fresh-made and straight out of the wok. I always get Pad Thai with chicken at medium spice.
