We've been coming here for years, and we've always enjoyed it. But today, in my deepest hanger, I phoned it in and ordered some drunken noodles. $20+ just for the noodles and another $5 for the tofu. Another $4 for tip, which I left because guilt is a thing. It tasted good, and it damned better have for that price. I get that inflation is a thing and our president can't do anything but make it all worse. But paying $30 for a portion of noodles and tofu is insulting. Added to that, there were a bunch of corvettes taking up the parking spots (including the 15 minute spots reserved for takeout). The restaurant didn't appear to care to ask the owners to park in the regular spots. I'm hangry and spicy, but what a turn off for a place that I've always enjoyed. Food is always delicious! Not greasy and a very large selection. Good value and easy for dine in or pick up.

Great food and service. However, Management doesn't seem to care about keeping their customers. Came to dinner here and was charged twice. I was told the second payment would get pulled off my bill. I then saw the charge go through on my credit card three days later. I called and told them, they said they would call back -- never did. I have now been disputing through my bank. It's a shame such good food and service is met with such incompetence and lack of customer service. Won't be coming back unless someone else wants the hassle of paying or I have cash. read more

First time here. We drive by all the time but were in the mood for Thai. Reviews were mixed but all dining in reviews were great...they were spot on. 1. Great service. Rana is amazing and no nonsense. Wonderful, energetic and kind. Kept my water glass full (which is hard because I drink a lot of water). 2. Fantastic Food - Each dish was unique, hot and plentiful. Everything came out quickly. Veggies were fresh and cut the right size. 3. Wonderful Ambiance - Well lit, spacious and clean. 4. Prices - Reasonable and worth it. Great place to come to...will definitely be back. PS - Their To Go business is huge. There were at least 20 pickups in the hour we were here. read more

I was so much looking forward to going to a good Thai restaurant. Didn't happen. I had the vegetarian rolls with tofu, wrapped in rice paper. On the plate they were a very pretty presentation, but were impossible to eat. Normally, when ordering such an appetizer, they come in the full roll and you dip them in the sauce. These were cut into inch and a half high Slices--too big for one bite. So, when you took a bite you either got all of the lettuce mixture, or the bite of the tofu, with the rest of the roll falling apart. Two times I stuffed the whole thing in my mouth and it was unpleasant. Then I had pad Thai with tofu. When it came out, it was a congealed and gloppy mess. Literally, I could stick a fork in it in the middle and pick up the whole noodle dish at once. It reminded me of something I would microwave. The sweet, sticky rice with mango for dessert was good. read more

I am quite picky with my noodles but I was happily surprised when my taste buds collided with the delicious flavors of my meal! I gave this place another go and unfortunately regretted it again. Take out again - ordered online. When I arrived 30 mins later to pick up my food at the time I was told to be there - they didn't have knowledge of my order. My son was home waiting for food. He just had an extremely invasive surgery so I couldn't be gone for long so it was aggravating that the owner lady was yelling around the kitchen because my order wasn't even started to be worked on. There was hardly anyone in there except for the bar and they weren't busy so there should've been no excuse. I waited 15 minutes sitting at the bar for the food to be made. I paid almost $70 for a Pad Thai w chicken and a few shrimp on top (how it normally comes from other restaurants without additional charges) and I was charged an extra $8 for shrimp and no chicken. Other meal was beef and broccoli. . And a Thai tea. $70!!! For two people. No rice. Just two dishes that were horrible. I asked for extra peanut sauce and I was told the extra peanut sauce was in the bag. The shrimp with the tails still on were mixed in with the gross noodles so I had to pick them out with my fingers and move the tails that were not edible before eating the dish. Well the noddles didn't have any peanut sauce on it whatsoever and tasted like a vinegary overpowered taste I just could t handle. It was so gross and I tried to mix the little cup of peanut sauce with but it didn't help. My son got the broccoli and beef and was disappointed they didn't include rice. His meal was bland and I was so sorry to him that I picked the wrong place to order Thai. I sent two messages to the business with no response and it's been a week. Plenty of time to respond. So I'm leaving my review here. I will never be back. That place has never been pack and for good reason. The last time I ordered the chicken and mushroom coconut soup and the mushroom obviously came out of a can - not fresh mushrooms. They were chewy. Blech read more

Finally went to eat there recently and was very disappointed. Lots of bells and whistles. The food was okay, but way over priced for Thai Food. No Thai restaurant should have $60 items on its menue. The service was terrible. Our server never came around to check on us to see if we needed more drinks, or anything else. I had to get up twice and go to their counter to order additional items during our meal. Once finished, our dirty plates just sat in front of us, and no one bothered to bus our table or ask if we were good or if we wanted desert. Waited around for our bill and never got one. We finally had to get up and walk over to the counter and ask for our bill. Long story short, lousy service and way, way overpriced. read more

First timers, upon entry we encountered a packed bar on a Wed. night 600pm. We were seated in the dining room. Tall ceilings, wood accents, the restaurant dining room is well designed, understand it new. Party of 6. The menu had a variety of sushi as well as Thai traditional selections. We ordered the mixed appetizers, and a variety of curry, noodle dishes. The food quality & preparation was great! We did experience a gap in food service, about 20 min. between appetizers to main entres. All main entres did not arrive at the same time. 7 min gap between 4 dinner servings and the last two. We were surprised, they do have live music. Odd to hear Peter Frampton, Simon & Garfunkle, etc in a Thai restaurant. If there is a repeat visit, I'd recommend sitting in the older section of the restaurant by the entrance to enjoy dinner & a conversation. If you are into live music, dining room is your place. Nice job on the expansion. If you tune up food service & tone down the music I'd be back. read more

This location is in Encinitas in a small strip mall... Apparentlythey now have live music in the evening, but on a mid week lunch, it was just me and my friend and one other party who left, so we were the only customers. We wanted to sit outside on the patio, but it wasn't set up, so we were inside and seated by the kitchen, which was noisy. We both noted the lack of ambiance. Music in the background was very low, and no Thai influences in the decor. Our waitress was not friendly and barely smiled at us.she did check on us once but disappeared after dropping our check. Food was ok, just not as good or as much as it has been in the past. Same prices..smaller servings. We both think there are other places we'd like to try next time. read more

Beautiful restaurant tucked away in a mall parking lot in Carlsbad. Modern casual and live music this Friday night. The bartender Paulie was terrific and seated us as no server or host was available. Service was very slooooow. The place was relatively quiet so I was disappointed but the server was lovely and very friendly. The food was terrific!!! We had the fried calamari $25 and Tom yum soup $12 (bowl) which were great (very tasty and plentiful) my friend and the salmon dinner special $40-45 and liked it very much. I had the Panang curry with roast duck as my protein and it was amazing $27. The prices were relatively expensive for Thai but the place is very nice and live music is costly & it's Carlsbad right next to Encinitas . I will definitely return... Enjoy!! read more

Sorry but these guys just can't serve food in a timely manner or communicate to customers. Not good. Waited 1.5 hours for pad tai. Total waste of time and no communication from management. At least offer a discount or concession of some kind. We tried them twice and both times their service was very poor. When Thai pasta in la costa closed down these guys bought their phone number and name and put a note up on the old restaurant saying "we've moved" but didn't bother to change any online profiles for address so people have to drive to the old location just to be turned away and drive to this location. They were very unapologetic. Not good. Good luck but we can't come back. read more

What is it about Thai food and fried appetizers during Covid that I can't get enough of? Thai One On is doing a superb job with taking extra steps to ensure their employees and customers feel safe with take out orders. I stood outside and waited for them to greet me and stood outside the door until they brought me my order. When we got home, we devoured the appetizers of vegetarian crisp spring rolls and fried avocado rolls. I then dug into my Massaman curry and ate every last drop. The curry itself was smooth and not spicy, even though I ordered a 5. My husband ordered the pad Thai and thought it was very sweet. We'll go up in the heat index next time but we're very pleased with the quality, service and taste of our order. read more

This restaurant is much more than a hidden gem, it is like a sunken treasure chest full of brilliant shiny gems. Each time I return I find yet another reason to Thai one On. On my first visit I had outstanding service and our fabulous waitress, Sage recommended a few sushi rolls based on my favorite seafood. I enjoyed it so much that I returned two days later to get my fix, and I had not even met Aaron yet. On my most recent visits during lunch time I had the pleasure of dining with Aaron at the helm. His passion for flavor, obsession with using the highest quality produce and ingredients, love for his work and creativity are obvious. I have tasted several rolls and each one is unique, portioned with just the right amount of rice and seasoned in a manner that is ready to eat. Using soy sauce and wasabi would definitely insult the chef. Today I ordered a full lunch with a main course of shrimp, wide noodles, mung beans and egg, delicious soup, leafy green salad in peanut sauce and a spring roll which is more than I ever eat. To top it off I shared two rolls by the Itamae Aaron. I was not hungry in the slightest but could not resist ordering again again because it was that good. The sushi menu is not extensive, instead it is carefully thought out with the flavor profiles of each component working together. They use real snow crab, not that surimi filler that many restaurants use. I also like the way that they cut the rolls slightly thinner than many restaurants do, so instead of 8 slices these come in 10. It is easier to eat that way. I would most definitely recommend Thai One On. read more

New date night spot for my wife and I. Went on a Thursday early evening dinner. They have a full bar and evening live entertainment. We got there too early for the live entertainment definitely will have to come back to experience. They offer Sushi and have a Sushi chef to make special requests. I really hate to say this because the restaurant itself is very pretty. I had lunch there, they have nice lunch specials which include your entree, a crispy roll, a cup of soup and a small salad. The soup was Tom yum and it was delicious, but served at room temperature. That was disappointing. I chose chicken pad Thai. That's my old standby dish when I go to a new Thai restaurant. The portion was good, but the noodles were in one slimmy glob. Plus they were cut up into about 2" pieces! I found that so odd. You're not supposed to cut up the noodles! The sauce was a little sweeter than I normally have and the chicken was very dry. I asked for level 2 and there wasn't the least bit of spice and the waitress had cautioned me about ordering a three level. Pretty disappointing because they have live music in the evenings and it would be fun to go back, have dinner and listen to the music. The food just isn't good enough to return. Others in my group also weren't wowed by their food, either. Really a shame. read more

I've been coming to Thai One On since before the pandemic and watched this place grow from a small take out place to a really good restaurant and bar experience with live music every night. It has had its growing pains for sure but what restaurant hasn't in the last few years? The staff treats you like family. For example, my aunt recently came from Ohio and the bartender, Nicole, remembered exactly what she ordered 3 months prior.... Tito's Martini (straight up with a twist) and the extra dirty ice from the shaker. It made my aunt's day! Bill, Pic, Taylor, Nicole and Ni are all great and keep me coming back. My favorite dishes are the Tom Yum Soup, Drunken Noodles, Siamese Twins, and my wife loves the Salmon! I can't wait for them to get a new sushi chef as that is the only thing I miss. read more
