I'm so disappointed! I ordered Papaya Tom Sum salad (with spice level 5 out of 10) and BBQ beef skewer appetizer to-go. Online menu did not have price list and I called in my order. Was given the price of $29.40. What??? For a salad and an app? Thought maybe I heard her wrong. Showed up 15 min later. No customers present. Food was almost ready. Staff was friendly. Restaurant was clean and new looking. Though they could throw out the very large dead orchid next to food pickup area. It's basically just holding up a giant bow. Anyway... got home excited to eat. My papaya salad is just flavorless mush. With some soggy tomato skins mixed in. No peanuts in there, no shrimp or shrimp flake taste or even fish sauce. And had zero chili. Inedible. Straight in the trash. BBQ beef skewer appetizer tastes nice. But not worth $16 by any level. And since I threw out my salad... it's really a $29 + tip app. I won't be back. Not the first time that I tried this place....First time was so-so (2 stars), manager/owner wasn't very attentive, food was good..not great. Tried it again couple weeks ago with some friends that frequently go there and like the place, the Manager Rana was great and food was outstanding (4.5 stars). Well tonight, not so good, sat down with my (adult) kids, no menus, took a while to get a rushed drink order....4 waters and a beer...young waiter tried his best but just didn't look like he was trained very well and nervous...proceeded to dump a whole pint glass of water on my son. Needless to say, my son couldn't eat like this....completely wet, so we left. Owner didn't seem very concerned or care. Not saying we won't come back but the experience was not the best. I understand that restaurants are having a hard time getting employees and it's a shame we couldn't stay for the epic food that we had previously, just seems like the owner needs to train the staff better and have more accountability for the customers. Ok just let me say I REALLY like thai one on off Melrose in vista, like alot!!! Never have had a problem. Excellent food and service But the rancho Santa Fe location made me write my 1st review!!! Horrible!!! Thai one on off of Rancho Santa Fe, was a horrible experience. Took over 5 mins for someone to come say hello and bring me a menu. Mind you there's only 3 tables occupied and what seemed to be 2 waitresses, 1 bartender, 1 manager and owner and I'm on a 30 min lunch. I ordered a beer and a lunch special spicy noodles 7 (same thing I get at the Melrose one). Didn't even look at the menu because I already knew what I wanted. I watch my beer sit 5 stools down from me(I was at the sushi bar, the bartender could have walked it over instead of chit chatting) until my salad, soup and egg rolls come out about 5 mins. My soup is cold, my veggie egg rolls were still covered in grease and scolding hot. Flavors were all the same, so that was good. I get my main course 6 mins later and it is not spicy noodles 7. It must be Pad Thai, thin noodles that look like there in a knot, no spice at all to them. I'm 17 mins into my lunch and don't have time to argue so I eat half my food, finish my beer and ask for a box and check at the 24 min mark and she takes my food from me and returns 3 mins later. I get the check and am utterly bewildered. $$15 dollars for there lunch special!!!!! At the Melrose one it's $10.50 or $11.50 with meat!!! again I have less then 3 mins ask to see a lunch menu and it's $12.50 for just noodles and $3 to add chicken or $4 for beef or shrimp. I don't argue any of it because I don't have time and my job is strict on time. The food did taste ok but the measly amount of chicken that they put in was dry as the Sahara desert and at $27.90 for a lunch special and 1 beer, including a $3 tip because I'm not an ass is not a lunch special!!!! I always make it out under 20 at the Melrose one including a 15% tip. It's 9.5 miles from Melrose location to the Rancho Santa Fe and costed me 8+ dollars more. Ridiculous!!!! Just because you are in a richer neighborhood does not mean to price gouge your customers!!!! Worse part is once I looked at there menu I could have gotten a full order of drunken noodles for 11+4(chicken)!!!! I will not be returning to the Rancho Santa Fe location, left a really sour taste!!! Just sucks because I was excited to have it by my place of work now! I'm really glad my GF did not join me for lunch at this location. Also the location maybe seats 30, about 1/3 the size of the other location nor does it have it's ambiance and service is slow, plus price gouging just because a different neighborhood is absolutely scandalous!!! read more

I know the reviews aren't the best so I wasn't sure what to expect but on next door all of the locals bragged about how good the food was and Thai and sushi are 2 of my favorites so what better than trying the new neighborhood place out. The ambience is more of a casual setting, I think it used to be a pick up stix. They do have a small wine bar area and then 2 tops and small casual tables around the restaurant and a sushi bar that probably seats about 6 or 7. The chef was nice, the sushi was good, the Thai food was awesome and our server was really sweet. They did forget a couple things i had to remind them of but they are still new I think working out the kinks. They're priced like other sushi bars which I think is a little high for them but the sauces on the Thai side were above and beyond delicious. Their peanut dressing on the Thai salad was the best I've ever had. The panang for the scallops was drinkable. I will definitely go there again. read more

Complete disappointment! TOO EXPENSIVE!!!! I was anxiously awaiting the opening because I have being going to the Thai One on in Vista and this one is much closer to my house. Wow! The portion sizes were miniature compared with their sister store in Vista, and they substantially raised their prices! Someone got very greedy. I'm afraid that gamble probably wont pay off as they are already at a disadvantage with an inferior retail location that sees very little traffic. And no one will go there more than once after seeing their prices. They want $16 for a "lunch special" of Pad Thai. If you wanted any meat in it that is! What thai restaurant upcharges 3 dollars on a 13 dollar lunch special that is tiny?? Seriously? They will be out of business before you know it. There are many thai restaurants around that lunch specials cost between 7-9. With chicken!!! we will continue to patronize them. And yes. The service was awful. Hopefully they can train the staff a little better given time. Lastly I asked for a diet coke and got something that tasted like Diet Right Cola or some other off brand and the glass tasted of soap. I bet Coke would like to hear about that. No Bueno for now. Hope they clean up their act, reduce their prices to market price, and serve portions that match their Vista store. Truly a disappointment. The Thai noodles are over cooked and look like an hemorrhage ball of intertwined noodles that sick together, like the internal knot that only Alexander the Great could undue! It was a rough night last Sat night, the 2nd night the restaurant was open. The kitchen was in a tizzy, seemed like the servers were forever on their iPads..looking over orders, trying to get organized. The 2 chefs were working very hard but didn't seem supported by the expeditor, who seemed to only get in the way. Takeout took FOREVER and people waiting were very annoyed. All in all, the food has potential and the servers were very nice. Veggies overcooked but sauces were delicious. Portions were huge and for $60, for 2, the food, in house and leftovers, is feeding 3 people 2 times. The fresh rolls were a huge disappointment and need to be revamped. Way too many greens, no noodles, barely any protein, and barely any sauce. The peanut sauce served with the fresh rolls was terrible. No sweet chili sauce served with them at all. I hope this restaurant raises itself to the level of their sister restaurant on Melrose, in Vista. If not it will be worth the drive to get excellent Thai at the other location. read more

The chicken satay was good (b.u.t. who fks up this @Thai restaurant) , Fried rice was heavy grease and soy sauce, shrimp was over cooked, Thsi Salad was a basic spring salad with a "soy" dressing that was dreadful, ruined the salad. The salmon was okay b.u.t. NOT worth $22. When I picked up the food I noticed a bucket on the grill that appeared unclean, the white bucket had vegetable (sprouts) in it, just made me feel really uncomfortable about even eating my meal. Having visited the vista location several times I was excited to try the new carlsbad location for some sushi. Being a big time sushi fan and loving deep sea fishing I'm typically a tough sell on quality fish, however l, Andrew the main sushi chief did not disappoint. It was sweet, and had no essence of lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves or galangal. The drunken noodles were equally bland and boring, (and they mixed up the order by putting chicken in the wrong dish and completely forgetting the pork.) . It was my friends birthday this evening. We went to the brand new Taiwan on in Carlsbad! The ambience is wonderful and the food is even better! They made the most gorgeous dessert for my friend. The service was excellent. The owner Bill was there and he was very kind. This has become my number one Thai food restaurant now in San Diego. I have three others that I like but not as much as this one. Very fresh and creative. They grow some of their own herbs in the back. That's where you'll find me when I want Thai food. read more

First time visiting this place and came for a Friday night dinner. Arrived around 8:15 and the place was not busy. I think only about 8 other people eating at this time. We were immediately greeted as we walked in and told we could sit wherever we wanted (inside or outside). We chose outside and the ambiance we pleasant, though the metal chairs are uncomfortable. I'll cut to the chase... beer selection is limited and not impressive, but I had a great "honey flavored beer". Also grabbed a glass of wine which was average. The food was awesome! Can't rave enough about the presentation, flavor, portions, etc...Siam beef salad to share as an appetizer, the pad Thai with shrimp, and the pineapple curry with chicken. They were all fantastic! The beef on the salad was so flavorful. The pad Thai was excellent and there were a number of shrimp. The curry was abundant and had a perfect blend of sweet and spice. We ordered spice level #6 for both the pad Thai and curry. It was spicy (hotter than most places #6), but perfect. The waiter described it perfectly! Would order everything again. I was going to eat there last night because they have an outdoor patio but when I got to the door I noticed people sitting inside along the sushi bar. There was 6 smashed together then another person at the bar. The entire kitchen can be seen and most of the employees preparing the food were not wearing masks that covered their faces. They were either under their chin or dangling from one ear. The only people wearing them properly were the two people in the far back standing over the stove-the hottest place in the entire restaurant. I didn't enter and left immediately. In our area restaurants are not allowed to serve people inside due to COVID. In addition to great Thai cuisine, they have some of the best sushi I have eaten in San Diego. the presentation is fabulous with edible flowers that grow in their own garden. Fresh every day. I judge sushi by the quality of the sashimi as there are no covering flavors. Superb. The problem here is that the Thai food is so good that it forces me to mix cultures. The duck is juicy and crispy. I've had it with the garlic and green beans as well as with the mixed vegetables. If you like duck you cannot go wrong here. The Pad Thai and the Thai fried rice are great with any protein. The service is excellent. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for. This new spot is fabulous!! The food is served piping hot and fresh! We have been 2 times in 8 days. We have not tried the sushi because we wanted a warm meal, but what we saw served looked delicious! The Cashew Nut is our favorite dish! It's so flavorful with a thick brown sauce. You can add a protein. We chose shrimp both times. We also had Broccoli with chicken added. It is served in a lighter oyster sauce and had great flavor. The Pad Thai was not my favorite because I was shy about the spice level on the first trip and didn't get it spicy enough. They let you choose 1-10 spiciness level. 5 is still not very hot so don't be afraid to go higher than what you think. One more thing... they have pineapple-mango candles burning on every table and it smells great! read more
