This is it second time here. Both times the beef larb salad was good. Both times the entrees were - ok. But to be honest the red curry was the winner tonight. I had the sautéed eggplant and it was good. The eggplant wasn't over cooked and the sauce was subtle and good. The house water was also actually really good - FYI I'm picky about restaurant water because it usually tastes like tap water. One thing that was odd here - We asked for the "spice rack" and all that they brought out was the chili sauce. Had to ask again for more chili and they brought out dried crushed chili pepper. (Didn't bother asking for the peppers in the fish sauce) Very humble restaurant but was busy for take out!!! It's worth a try. read more

Visited restaurant in person, staff was very friendly and service was quick. After trying in person I tried ordering through doordash and quality was just as good as in person, everything was packed perfectly, no spilled anything, and generous portions. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. The Shrimp Rangoons are my new favorite thing to order from any restaurant near me. They have the perfect amount of filling and the right amount of crunch from the thin casing. The Mixed Vegetable Tempura were large cuts of fresh vegetables in a light tempura batter. Came here for lunch today with some friends--two of them had never had Thai food before, and they loved it! I think this is our third or fourth time at Thai Orchid, and it never disappoints. My wife and I consider ourselves a bit snobbish when it comes to Thai, and our litmus test is always the chicken Panang curry and chicken Pad Thai. Both were delicious today, as usual. Thai Canteen in Midtown is still our favorite, but this place is a very close second. Definitely one of our go-tos whenever we get a hankering for Thai food. read more

My BF and I decided to try a new Thai place and I really enjoyed the Beef Pad Thai. The papaya salad was more on the sweeter side for me and I asked for medium heat but I didn't feel there was heat at all but please keep in mind I am 1/2 Thai and my tolerance can be higher than most. First visit tonight, takeout. Called ahead and the man who answered was epitome of Thai = polite, soft-spoken, service-oriented. He was able to answer all of my questions without issue. With veggie and chicken Tom kha soup, no seafood Tom kha, I opted for yellow curry chicken ($14) and brown rice ($3). One question I asked was if the curry was enough for two. His answer was perfect. He felt no, but everything about the call, my intuition that he's likely the owner of a locally-owned business and running the show solo, and the fact this Thai spot was in my bookmarks for a while, I ordered. The curry was more liquid than sauce and larger pieces of solid foods than expected but perfect medium spice (as requested) and the flavor was excellent. It'll make 1.25 to 1.5 servings for me. Nice dining experience in a not-as-nice area. Met some close friends here for lunch, since it was a nice in-between location. The reviews here on Yelp were decent and if they weren't it had to do with DoorDash and not specifically Thai Orchid. The gentleman handling all the things was very nice and efficient. We had the place (at open) to ourselves and eventually other patrons who had a hankering for Thai food, that rainy morning, wandered in also. My friends had their two small kids (newborn and a 10 month old) along and it worked out fine space wise. I had the spicy cashew chicken and a side of steamed rice. My friends ordered the Drunken Noodle dish with chicken and the coconut soup. No complains from anyone. Would definitely eat here again! read more

This was the saddest delivery I've ever gotten in my life lol. I received two small spring rolls, Tom-kha, and curry (not pictured here). I give two stars because the curry was pretty good, however, it did not come with rice. You will need to order separately.. The Tom-Kha was okay. Quick dinner here on a Friday night. Server was very friendly, and attentive. Clean restaurant, smaller place. Got my favorite dish, Panang Curry with Beef and my go to back up Green Curry with chicken. I gotta say, I've never been really big on the green curry at most places, but for the first time I actually enjoyed it more than the panang. Very nice and bold flavor, unique from other green curries I've had. The proteins were very well cooked as well, and flavorful. The panang curry was great. I'm a fan of spice, and would have probably asked to have it a little spicier, and would recommend that if you're like me. We have not found a good Thai that stands close to San Mateo Charm Thai Eatery. By the high reviews we were excited to try this place. We ordered Pad Se Yew (might be misspelled) and a curry. It was too fishy, too much fish sauce. I should have said we are allergic to fish. Flavor was a bit off. We really wanted to like it. In the end, we would not like to come back. If you love the flavor, then bless you. Hopefully at some point we can find something we like. It's difficult because the Bay Area has such good Asian food. read more

And would have loved it far more but portions seemed kinda light for $54.87... we ordered one order of satay skewers (Tender. Delicious! Amazing! 5 skewers.) Two orders of green chicken curry and 3 orders of rice (The rice tasted a little like Minute Rice. That was a bit of a bummer.) We also ordered EXTRA chicken for the curry... we anticipated there'd be enough for leftovers to take for lunch. We do have pretty big appetites but the curry containers were only 2/3 full and there was hardly any chicken... let alone EXTRA chicken. Maybe the chicken curry is just chicken flavor? The restaurant is beautiful. The calamari was very chewy. The Red chicken curry was average. Including serving with overcooked chicken. I really wanted duck curry but they were out of duck. The cucumber salad was very good. The sticky rice and mango was very good. The Thai iced tea was a little too sweet. My sister said her lunch order was average. My mom got the special crab fried rice. It was a huge plateful but hardly any crab. If you're going to have a special with crab then put a decent amount of crab in it. Yesterday I placed an order through the Grubhub app for no-contact delivery to help support local and small, "aka" Yelp's Big Night In #yelpsbignightin. After tuning into our CM's Instagram Live that night, seeing his beautifully displayed bowl of Green Curry and appetizers made me crave Thai! I ordered Chicken Yellow Curry since it was my first time ordering from them and I knew I couldn't go wrong with my favorite dish. It was love at first spoonful, the curry had a nice array of spices that were dancing in my mouth and the coconut flavor really came through! The carrots and potatoes were cooked just how I like and the chicken was nice and tender! This curry was probably one of the best if not the best I have ever had and I have had my fair share! In fact I finished the whole bowl! I would highly recommend ordering from this restaurant and I will definitely be stopping by in the near future to check out the inside of their restaurant as well! If you are cautious about ordering takeout or delivery during these times, place the food into your own dish and use your own silverware like I did. Picked up food to go Sunday evening. Braved the storm & wind as family desired Thai food. Ken the owner, very nice man, took my order & had it ready in no time. The stir fried glass noodle was AMAZING! So tasty, with slivered onions, celery, carrots, & ginger Pumpkin Curry was VERY delicious as well. I chose medium hot. Also had an order of Tom Kha chicken coconut milk soup, immensely flavorful. A nice cucumber salad for 3.00 went well with above entrees. We usually go to My Thai Kitchen, however it is NOT as good. Came here for the first time and the restaurant is a nice, small casual dining. The waitress was very polite and quick with my order! For appetizer, I got the friend calamari and I can say that it has a great crisp on the outside and tasty and has a great chew on the inside! As for the seafood hot and sour soup, it was average.
