Food was really good. Definitely coming back. The service was excellent, San is very attentive and takes care of you well. The ambience is calm and friendly. Felt very homey/comfy walking in. Recommend for date night

First time to try hotpot express. Didn't know what to expect. I came with 2 of my daughters and granddaughter. She like the shrimp and the Bok Choy. We got the 3 different broth. I wasn't too impressed with it. We had the spicy and beef broth and and regular. We got the beef, bok choy, cabbage, fish ball, vermicelli, noodle, dumplings. It was okay nothing special. You get the veggies, noodles and meat selection from a refrigerated vending machine. It kind of costly. It came out to more than a $100.

While driving around the Sacramento area in the evening looking for a late-night dinner spot, I happened upon Hotpot Express. Hotpot Express provides an innovative take on the traditional hotpot experience in which diners can select their broths (up to 3 different broths can be chosen) and then select their hot pot contents from a self-serve refrigerator. Diners are charged by the plate with each colored plate representing a different price point. They provide a medium-sized selection of noodles, vegetables, meats, fish cakes, and dumplings for patrons to enjoy. The owner was very friendly in explaining the restaurant's concept and providing us with recommendations, which we appreciated given it was our first time at this spot. We went with the miso and authentic boat noodle broth. Both broths were very flavorful and I'm definitely glad we were able to sample both! From the fridge we went with a selection of noodles (egg and udon noodles), napa cabbage, seafood mushrooms, fish balls, and tofu. The hot pot ingredients tasted fresh and of high-quality. If you're looking for a new hot pot place to try with a unique dining experience to go along with delicious food, then I definitely recommend giving Hot Pot Express a try!

I love coming here. The owners are super sweet. Tonight, they gave us gifts! I loooooove the papaya salad. Their hotpot is sooooo good too!

My sister said it gets very busy at dinner time and the wait time can be over an hour. For lunch, it was quite a good deal. AYCE Hotpot, sushi and BBQ for about $30. If you only choose one of the AYCE options, it is about $25 but seems worth it to get the all 3 combo for $30. It does seem that everybody at the table has to choose the same option. Hot pot - You each get your own individual hot pot. There had a pretty good variety of broth flavors to choose from. There is a menu that you can order the meat from. There were 5 of us and we were told we can order 4 meats to share per round. There is a separate area for to grab a tray/bowl and choose your veggies. All in all, I enjoyed the Tonkatsu broth and like the variety of meats and veggies available. Korean BBQ - A bit different in that you do not order at the table. There is an area with small trays of meat available for you to grab and bring back to your table. Good variety. Pork Jowl was my favorite and it's not as common. The only issue is that if your party doesn't communicate, you some how end up grabbing all of the same items! So discuss amongst yourselves or else it might be an overkill. Didn't try the sushi simply because I had some good quality sushi the night before so no need for buffet style sushi. The staff was VERY friendly and efficient. They came by often to check on us, take away dirty plates and to change the grill. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot.

Mixed review on this one…read more Standout: Service, Service, Service! The food runners and the supporting staff were amazing! Great patients with the grandparents as they are less adventurous as they took time to explain the process as well as recommending a less "punch you in the face" broths for their individual hotpot. This buffet style was also cool in that all the individual proteins (pre-cooled/seasoned/fully cooked) were individually plated and in little half boxes . Diners take an empty lunch tray, gather what looks good for their liking and return to their table to cook and enjoy. Definitely much more "civilized" . Way better than large sections with multiple tongs encouraging the food savages. Another big plus is the wide selections. For those food influencers...it will be a long running camera shot just to capture the amount of different items. The challenge with this approach tho is that the plates and small food containers can stack up bery quickly and take over much of the real estate on the dining table top. But we were amazed at the team work of the staff to quickly make the needed elbow room. On a busy Saturday night tho, it definitely can still be a bit tricky. The value for the AYCE die hards are definitely there! There are solid options of meats fish and veg. But those fearing AYCE diners can also expect a certain level madness. We saw many unintentional dropping of trays of eager patrons. There were definitely ambitious customers that are stacking their trays sky high. Customers on our visit were generally very cordial to staff and on the couple of "tim.....berssss" we witnessed, the response time to clean up was really impressive! The AYCE masses are hard to please for sure, but it may make a difference to apply some general limit on the individual patrons trays? That may frustrate some hardcore diners but can enhance the experience of others. We will reiterate that the managing team is just doing such a bang up job in hiring a great crew! They all were hustling and we definitely noticed! WTG!!!

There's just…read moresomething so so soothing and satisfying about this cuisine and something so communal and fun that I just can't get enough. When considering a hot pot restaurant, I think you have to look at two things the broth choices, and the selection of the signature proteins. A lot of places will try to convince you that you need to upgrade to the premium level to get access to the best of the best, but I am more appreciate places like this one that offer a ton at the low and medium level with only a few really choice select things added to the premium level Making the decision pretty easy. We opted for the mid tier which included several cuts of beef, lamb, pork chicken, as well as a lot of fun, add-ins, like fish balls, and tofu, skin, chrysanthemum greens, and more. For broth, I went with the Sichuan spicy medium heat level and frankly I probably could've dialed it up a little bit. As the broth evaporated did get hotter and hotter like it's supposed to and I did have a couple of reactions to the heat as it hit my sinuses, but other than that, it was deliciously tolerable. Now, while we upgraded to the midtier, my favorite cut of meat had to have been the spicy beef and the green chili chicken. Both of these had house marinades or dry seasonings on them that made the meat delicious and added it to the broth as well. But above all that the real shining star here has to be the service. The server was ever present in the most appropriate way possible quick to take an order, and the kitchen was even quicker to get that order to us. The restaurant was completely clean and we were never wanting for more than literally a second. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area if you live in the area and you haven't been, you are seriously missing out. Oh yeah and the shrimp balls are made in house and insanely good!

I ordered the Large American Kobe Beef with miso and crab broths. It was an average size to feed two people, however I was hungry so I was not full after the meal. The dish came with thin sliced beef, veggies, and choice of noodles or rice. The portion of noodles was very small. The crab broth was my favorite of all the broths and had a nice crab flavor. The meal came with dessert which was a choice of ice cream; I chose the cookies and cream. The chicken wing appetizer was scrumptious. The wings were fried and coated with sauce with lots of jalapenos. Service was good as the employee offered samples of all their broths to assist in making a selection. After the food was served he checked if we needed anything and refilled water. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It was busy on a Saturday evening so reservations are recommended. Glad my mom suggested it for her birthday dinner or I don't know when I would've ever gone! Service was excellent (both helpful & informative). Since we'd never gone before, we were offered a sample of the broths; this was super helpful and appreciated because I ended up not ordering one of the broths I thought I was definitely going to get. I got the Kobe Beef with Miso & Crab Rieu as the two broths. I was able to comfortably split the large size with my husband, but we probably could've used a slightly larger portion for his sake. (He felt a bit hungry after the meal but noted his stomach had settled.) As a party of 5, two of us shared one pot (or two broths) and three shared another pot. The chicken wings appetizer was very flavorful too! (The server listed three options for wings and we went with the one that included jalapeños.) For noodles, you can choose between instant ramen, fresh ramen or vermicelli. It also came with a small scoop of ice cream at the end of the meal! I think I'll come back for AYCE soon. All the ingredients were fresh and very tasty.
