Pad Kee-Mao Lunch Special Pad Thai Lunch Special

Amazing! I was craving Thai food and stumbled upon this place! The interior is decorated in an amazing way that really lights up the Thai culture and cuisine! The staff speak Thai and English and are some of the friendliest people I've met! The food (the most important) came out in a very timely manner and was good portion sizes. It was very filling, and tasted amazing!!!! I would definitely come back and recommend this place! They have quite a bit of room to fit big parties (and with more people you can try more of the delicious dishes!)

Second time coming here. Tried the Bangkok fried chicken with the two sauces and it was crispy and delicious!! Fried rice is good and Thai iced is also very good. Definitely want to come back and try different dishes.

We were in town to get my car's tires rotated and I was craving Thai food. It's been a hot minute since I've had Thai food and Takieng caught my eye quickly while browsing for local Thai restaurants. I was drawn to the beautiful decor, the lovely plates, and the cozy atmosphere. Takieng is tucked away in an older strip mall and has an unassuming exterior, but once you step inside, it is a whole different experience. I haven't seen such amazing decor at a Thai restaurant in a while and they even had some beautiful collectibles and a dining set in a glass case by the front! We were seated quickly. There were only a few individuals dining in, since it was after the lunch rush. It was a nice quiet day and we felt relaxed dining here. We were already eyeing the lunch specials, and I decided on the pineapple curry while my husband decided on the Thai chow mein. I also ordered a Thai iced tea (I always have to try the Thai iced tea when I visit new-to-me Thai restaurants). I liked that it came unmixed (since I always like to see how much milk they put in the drink and mix it myself). It was the perfect strength as well! We were given large glasses of water almost immediately, and our waitress was very attentive to refilling our waters. She topped our glasses off quite often. Our food arrived pretty quickly. First to the table were our soups and salads, which were simple yet good. The mushroom in my soup was undercooked (but I am also used to cooking my mushrooms until they are soft). Regardless, both the soup and salad were a good portion size. Shortly after, our lunch specials arrived, and both dishes were sooo flavorful! I loved the kick of spice that my pineapple curry had, and the garlic was prominent in my husband's Thai chow mein. My husband gave me most of his small ball of rice since I felt that I didn't have enough rice for my curry. We left full and satiated, and I took the rest of my Thai tea to go. Takieng is one of the Thai restaurants that I'd highly recommend and while we don't frequent this area often, I'd definitely make a trip to go back and try their other dishes!

We did take out order and what a hidden gem! After we placed our order we got to enjoy Thai Tea while we waited. The ladies working were so sweet and kept asking us if we needed anything. The inside is super cute and has adorable plates! Food was amazing. Everything was flavored well and tasted so fresh. We also go the appetizer sample plate which was a little of everything!

We use to eat here when it was just called "Thai Smile" loooooong ago. They are open 10am to 9:30pm M-F except Sundays. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) we got parking right away when we arrived. But parking is limited. 2) Both people in the restaurant immediately smiled and greeted us. 3) we got seated right away. There wasn't many people eating there. 4) restaurant looked clean. Our table, chairs, cups, plates, bowls, utensils were all clean. 5) water tasted good. No funky or metal taste. 6) Taro boba tasted great. Tum Yum soup (a little on the sweeter side), drunken noodle, and California hand roll tasted great. 7) bathroom clean. 8) we got our tab quick and it was easy to go pay it. 9) our waitress was very nice. Cons 1) there were 3 of us. Two of us got water. One didn't. We had to ask for a 3rd glass of water. Twice. But we did eventually get the 3rd glass for water. 2) Conclusion Wec have always liked this place. I recommend it. Staffs were nice, place clean, cutely wall-decorated, clean bathroom, good foods, quick in and out.

Service was great, the waitress was nice and accomodating, the sushi chef was nice as well as he occasionally came by to serve the dishes. Dishes were good and didn't take too long. Overall was a very pleasant experience. Little qualm may just be the parking can get difficult if it's busy but besides that there's still parking around just gotta walk a bit.

Came here after seeing all the delicious pictures. I usually don't stray far from classic dishes…read morebecause the basics say a lot about a restaurant. Portions were generous and pricing was decent. The Pad Thai looked great visually, but the noodles were overcooked and broken into smaller pieces, and it was missing peanuts. The flavor was very bland--I kept adding fish sauce to try to bring it to life. The sour seafood soup was good but also needed fish sauce. The Thai fried rice was begging for soy sauce or fish sauce as well. Something just felt off tonight. The Laos-style papaya salad wasn't pungent or spicy at all. I ordered medium spicy, but it came out mild. I had to add quite a bit of fish sauce and chilies to suit my taste. Overall, the service was good, but the food lacked flavor for me.

We ordered the boat noodle, which was super flavorful and really unique. We've never had anything like it before, so it definitely stood out. But the star of the show for me was their Pad Thai. I genuinely think it's the best Pad Thai I've had in Sacramento. I've been searching for a good one that isn't overly sweet, and this place absolutely nailed it. This is officially my go-to spot for Pad Thai from now on. The service during our first visit was good, and the ambience is really nice ,cozy, warm, and inviting. The only reason I'm taking off one star is because of our second visit. We arrived about an hour before their posted closing time, but as soon as we pulled up, the staff inside hurriedly switched the sign to "closed." It caught us off guard because it was still early, and we were really looking forward to eating there again. Not sure what happened that night, and maybe there was a reason, but it did feel a little disappointing. Still, based on the food and our first experience, we're hoping to return and try again, especially for that Pad Thai!
