(5/5) Thai Orchid in North Kansas City is an absolute gem--and honestly, it might just be the best Thai food in the Kansas City area. From the first bite, you can tell everything is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The flavors are vibrant, balanced, and consistently on point. Their cocktail menu is a standout. Drinks are well-crafted and complement the food perfectly, making it a great place whether you're there for a full dinner or just to relax with a few drinks. Happy hour is another major plus--excellent specials that actually feel like a deal and give you a chance to explore more of the menu. The ambiance pulls everything together: warm, inviting, and stylish without trying too hard. It's comfortable enough for a casual outing but also works really well for a date night. Overall, Thai Orchid checks every box--fresh ingredients, excellent cocktails, great value, and a welcoming atmosphere. Easily one of the top dining spots in KC, and very possibly the best Thai food in the city.

So happy to have them in the northland now! The food is the real star of the show here, with dishes loved by many local athletes and I can see why! The space is so beautiful you feel transformed when you walk in to a beautiful oasis! And the staff were great, on top of everything and wonderful service

I've been craving a good Thai place and found this place on Google to be the best in the northland area! I can confirm it is indeed delicious and worth the drive for those far. I ordered the Basil Fried Rice and it was amazing! Jimmy & Chris were kind enough to have it made without soy sauce due to my gluten allergy and for my meat to be well done. Portion size is great and enough for leftovers. It came out steaming hot just the way I prefer my food. I'm definitely coming back and recommending to family/friends!!

I had the pleasure of taking my family to eat at this establishment and we loved the ambiance. We ordered several dishes and all tasted delicious and refreshing. The staff was very friendly and patient. I had all my kiddos with me and appreciated how fast the food came out. Feel free to see some pics of a few dishes we ordered.

This place is very spacious and beautiful natural light. The vibe is very welcoming. And they have plenty of parking spots. We came in for lunch, and I was surprise to see how big their lunch menu is. A lot of great choices. The sticky wing with papaya salad and a side order of sticky rice were the perfect combo of sweet, savory, and saucy. I would highly recommend getting this!

I'm always happy when a successful Johnson County restaurant opens a second location in the Northland--and Thai Orchid is a welcome addition. Thai Orchid clearly knows how to deliver outstanding Thai cuisine. Service was excellent from start to finish, with great pacing and no hiccups along the way. Our server Abby did a fantastic job helping first-timers navigate the menu. Fortunately, I had done a little homework beforehand and scoped out several highly recommended dishes from other Yelp reviews--and those suggestions absolutely paid off. We kicked things off with cocktails. The Asian Pear Sake Punch was refreshing and lightly sweet, and the Lychee Martini was so smooth and flavorful we ordered a second round without hesitation. For starters, we went with a trio that Thai Orchid seems to be known for. The Crab Rangoon was hot, crispy, and generously filled--not overly sweet like some versions. The Crispy Spring Rolls were light and crunchy, served with a nicely balanced dipping sauce. The Basil Wings were the standout for me--crispy, aromatic, and coated in a savory basil-forward sauce that had just the right amount of kick. For entrées, I ordered the Crying Tiger Fried Rice at medium heat. The beef was tender, the rice perfectly seasoned, and the spice level built gradually without overpowering the dish. My wife chose the Pad See Ew with chicken, mild heat. The wide noodles were soft with just enough char, and the sauce struck that ideal balance of savory and slightly sweet. We couldn't resist dessert--and I'm glad we didn't. The Fried Banana with Ice Cream was warm, crispy, and comforting, while the Apple Wontons were a fun twist, with a crisp exterior and a sweet, cinnamon-forward filling. We can't wait to return. Thai Orchid has quickly earned a spot on our regular rotation, and it's great to have this level of Thai cuisine right here in the Northland. Highly recommended.

First time into Thai Orchid with some friends last year. Thai restaurants usually have vegan-friendly options but the helpful icons on Thai Orchid's menu (to indicate spicy/GF/vegan) were much appreciated and simplified the ordering process. Empowered by the icons, I deviated from yellow curry and tried the PAD PAK stir-fry. Yum! Friends also enjoyed the: Ga Prao, Tom Kha, and Braised Beef Khao Soi.

Met a friend here for dinner on a Friday evening around 530. There isn't a lot of parking in the immediate lot and I had to park in the parking lot a ways away. We were seated quickly and bought waters. Our service was good, not overly talkative or friendly but efficient. We had the Thai Orchid sampler, everything was fresh, I really like the dipping sauces. I had their Thai Heat Margarita and it was very good just not big enough. I ordered the double delight stir fry mild and my friend had the chicken pad Thai level 3 spice. Our food was good and they give you a decent amount. No complaints. They were starting to get pretty packed when we left close to 7pm. I think this restaurant is a nice addition to the area.

I recently visited Thai Orchid's new Northland location and was truly impressed! The space is beautiful with a warm, inviting ambiance that makes the dining experience even better. The cocktail menu is fantastic. I tried the Lychee Martini and the Thai Espresso Martini, and both were delicious with great presentation. We started with the Thai Orchid Sampler, which included spring rolls, crab rangoons, and crispy rolls, along with the coconut shrimp. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For our main dishes, we tried several items: the Tiger Garlic Fried Rice, Shrimp Pad Thai, Papaya Salad, Pad Kee Mao, and Beef Khao Soi. Every dish was packed with flavor and tasted authentic. You can really tell they put care into every plate. We ended with the Fried Banana & Ice Cream, which was the perfect sweet finish. Overall, Thai Orchid Northland is a wonderful addition to the area great food, beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, and a menu full of standout dishes. I highly recommend checking them out! North, you real lucky! Jon and his team have brought the flavor, the cocktails and the beauty to the northland. I love the decor and natural lighting in this spot. You can tell they really care about what they put out for your meal. I will drive up north every time. The staff is amazing and remembers you. A fun way to try new dishes and flavors.

The food was amazing and the portions are definitely generous! The service is top notch. They know the menu inside and out. The space is warm and welcoming. I'll definitely be back and I'll be bringing the rest of the family.

The food is hot and fresh. Server was entertaining and gave tips on what others liked and what she liked. It's a decent size restaurant and very tidy. Lots of seating. Thought the prices were decent and good size food portions. I'll be back. Went medium on heat. I'm going hotter next time.

came here yesterday for an early bday celebration for my sister. food was very tasty and came out quick! our server was polite but did feel as if it was a bit rushed throughout our stay. i think you could tell she was ready to go home but it didn't make for an unpleasant experience, just an observation. not pictured was the basil wings, the sampler app, pad thai and the yellow curry. again food was tasty but i will add that as a crab rangoon lover i wasn't the biggest fan of theirs here and their pad thai is okay. the music was also very loud in the restaurant so it was hard to hear when we were talking to each other and felt like we had to yell. over all an okay experience!

We got there right at the time they open (11 am), and they were not finished setting up for the day and had us wait while they finished. We said it was no problem, but it was so long that it became frustrating. If you open at 11, that means open and ready for customers, not still setting up. Our waitress, however, was very nice and explained how the menu works. She brought us water, but it was terrible - by terrible, I mean country water with that weird metallic taste. Our waitress said she knew and that it was just how Gladstone water is - my husband agrees. Anyway, we ordered one of the boil bags with crab legs and shrimp. It came our pretty quickly and they did provide bibs and wet wipes and there were napkins on the table, so we could use as many as we wanted. Our waitress opened our bag for us and dumped it into the waiting tray. They have buckets on the table for all the shells and other trash. We did wear our bibs and said we would only have this meal with certain people because it is messy!! It was the crab legs that made it messy - if I went with someone else I would probably have shrimp (awesome) and sausage (didn't try, but I bet it's good). The shells of the crab legs were a bit soft, which our waitress asked us about. She said they have a new chef, so she was happy to provide some coaching. The place is way bigger on the inside than it appears from the front. Plenty of seating. I definitely recommend checking it out!!

Perfectly medium and soft. So good. More nuanced than salmon? I had the Chicken Fried Halibut Clavicle. I would normally order lighter and more toward raw or lightly cooked dishes. Having someone prepare an underused part of a fish... in the Midwest? I had to do it. Photos won't do that plate justice (because it was deep fried), but let me put it this way: if you're a "white meat" chicken person, you're probably happy with a halibut filet. But if you're a chicken thigh person... this is your order. Clavicle bones are angular and sorta fluted so a lot of the meat is contacting bone. Insanely moist and flavorful, but just as snow-white. Atop a bed of country mashed potatoes and sage gravy, and collard greens. Loved it. More food than the photo shows. Wow. I didn't expect that. Must have been a large fish to begin with. The counter downstairs looks cool, but the view from above provides a grounded sense of space for downtown. This place looks good on Parkville... but Parkville looks good on this place. We have lived here 13 years and have longed for a proper place to occupy the best physical space in the street. Nailed it. A great date night made better by our experience here.

The portion was huge, and the crust was perfectly crisp, but the meat itself could have used a bit more seasoning. The cottage fries were crispy and a nice change from regular fries. The cinnamon rolls, however, were a little too sweet for our taste. The customer service was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The only downside was that the tables were fairly close together, so it was easy to overhear nearby conversations. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back, especially for the outstanding fried chicken!
