We had dinner at Piropos Argentine Restaurant tonight, and coming from a chef who tends to pick everything apart, I have to say--it was very good. We started with the empanadas, which my wife ordered, and they were absolutely delicious: flavorful, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. I had the wedge salad, which was crisp and fresh, and the blue cheese was outstanding--rich, bold, and perfectly balanced. For entrées, my wife chose the mixed seafood grill, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The seafood was cooked well and presented beautifully. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi with lobster risotto. The fish and risotto were both very good on their own--nicely executed and satisfying. The only critique I had was the red pepper cream sauce, which slightly overpowered the other components. I ended up eating around it, but overall, I still enjoyed the dish. The service was excellent and prompt, attentive without being overbearing. The decor really stood out--modern Argentine style, warm and upscale, making it an ideal atmosphere for a relaxed evening out. Bottom line: I will definitely go back, and I would highly recommend Piropos to anyone looking for a great date-night spot or a quality dining experience with solid food, strong service, and decor

Mixed grill plate. Tiger shrimp, grilled halibut (fish of the day), scallops, asparagus, jasmine rice and buttery sauce.

We have always enjoyed our experience at Piropos. The food is incredible! Service is attentive. It's consistent and a joy to experience. We have eaten here easily 20 times over the last 10 years and it's maintained its high quality atmosphere and menu. They have beautiful stained glass everywhere. The mixed grill plate is always fantastic.

My husband and I went Feb 12th to not only be ahead of the Valentine's Day crowd, but also because I had to work on actual Valentine's Day. We had never been here but have heard great things. When we arrived we were surprised to have to wait 20 min even with our reservation but they were super busy. Our waitress even told us that the next two days they were expecting over 600 people a night! After being seated, everything was amazing! The dining area we were in was beautiful, elegant and our waitress was amazing. We enjoyed a famous chicken empanada, and their calamari to start, both were delicious. My husband got the chicken roulette and I got the shrimp and scallop pasta, both 10/10! We weren't sure we needed the bread basket but everyone around us ordered one and raved about it so naturally we got one too. They were right. The dips were phenomenal with their bread! We had to take some to go boxes home but we couldn't leave without trying their table side flamed crème brûlée. It was pretty good, but definitely could taste the alcohol they poured on it. Overall we enjoyed our dinner and would love to come back to try some other dishes!

Can't believe I've been missing out on Piropos!! I'm ready to go back a million times. The vibes & decor are slightly quirky yet classy. Such a unique set up throughout the restaurant. I was blown away when I walked into the restroom & saw this beautiful stained glass! Service was punctual & professional. We had a larger group & everything came out on time & proper temperature. They offer a smaller specialty cocktail menu but they did not disappoint on the delivery! Everyone loved their food. Best steak I've had & I've tried a lot of steaks! Highly recommend the medallions with the scallops. We also sampled 3 of the empanadas - this is a must when wanting to get the full experience!

I received a gift card to Piropo's probably 9 months ago, but finally just used it last weekend. I live in Overland Park, and Briarcliff is just not that convenient. But we were seeing the Book of Mormon matinee and I thought it would be a good opportunity to go a little bit north to use the gift card. I made reservations for 5:30 that evening, but it's such a big restaurant. We probably didn't need it. The space is kind of fun, but when you first enter, there's a room called the library on the left, and there were dirty tables in there and it was just kind of an icky first impression. They did block off the space by the time we went back down, but the door was still open, and the tables still had trash on them. But once we got upstairs, we liked the kind of homey, romantic atmosphere. We were seated in one of the dining rooms that faces downtown. Here was another sticking point for me, they've got all these tall ferns blocking the window, so I couldn't see downtown from where I was sitting, because there was a big fern blocking the view. I don't know why they must spend a lot of money on rent to have such a gorgeous view to block it with tall ferns. But I digress, onto the food. Our server came by relatively quickly after we sat down. My fiancé, and I both ordered drinks, which came pretty quickly. I really enjoyed my strawberry basil lemonade. It tasted exactly as you'd expect, which was what I was hoping for. I can't quite remember what my fiancé got. But then because we had a pretty big gift card we decided to ball out for dinner. We got the bread basket and some empanadas for an appetizer. I believe we had the ground beef, the four cheese, and the chicken. All three were very tasty and perfectly crisp. I thought the bread services was good, and their garlic "aïoli" was not what I was expecting, but if it was very tasty. Then we put in our orders for our entrées. My fiancé got the filet and I got the three steak medallions. They also came out pretty quickly. I had some pretty major issues with the temperature. I didn't end up complaining about it because the first steam I had was a little towards medium, despite me, ordering, medium rare, but then the other two stakes were very rare. Like to the point of being almost mooing, with a quick sear on the outside. But I was really hungry because I hadn't had lunch that day and I already eaten half of my plate so it didn't seem worth it to send it back when I could eat it. But it was just a weird inconsistency because you would think all three pieces would've cooked at the same time. I really loved the shrimp on it as well as the asparagus and the potatoes. My fiancé really liked his as well. We ended the dinner with the banana cake. I thought it was good, but it was almost too much banana, like maybe they added banana extract and just like a touch more than I want of banana. But I thought the texture was good and I liked the icing. All in all, it was a good meal. The service was good and I was generally happy with the flavors. But the blocked views and the weird dirty entrance were a big negative for me. I wouldn't say no if someone invited me out there again, but it's a long drive from where I live and past a lot of better steakhouses, so probably won't be in my rotation. But it is relatively affordable for a steakhouse and I think it's a nice occasion restaurant, with a crowdpleasing menu if that's what you're looking for.

What a fabulous, beautiful, classy, yet relaxed restaurant this is! It has a very unique menu with fusion of tastes and flavors that are beyond explaining. One must come there and enjoy some menu items, oneself, in order to understand what I mean. The service is impeccable, and our meals were absolutely delightful!

I truly have not had a dining experience like this in a long time, and it was nice to be reminded of what it's like to have amazing service. The occasion was a date night and I'm so glad we chose Piropos. The serving staff did an amazing job and were very attentive throughout the night. We had the empanadas as a starter along with their in-house prepared bread. Then for my entree I had the nights special, which included a lobster tail, sirloin, jasmine rise, and grilled asparagus. For dessert we sampled their Churros Al Chocolate and Torta de Banana. Everything was amazing and so savory. My favorite had to be the empanadas, the jasmine rice I had as my side, and the lobster tail. Overall, I was super impressed with our service. While we had some hiccups in the night, the staff was nothing short of accommodating, and made our visit perfect. I will definitely return and I highly recommend trying Piropos out!

Location: North Kansas city Ambiance: family oriented but also a beautiful place to take a date to Lots of pieces of art related to Argentina. Nice view from the top floor as well. Food: Decent but not extraordinary. For the price this place should have better executed dishes. Empanada was fried which is not your typical Argentinian baked empanada Fillet mignon was ok the sauce was not impregned in the meat very well. I was hesitant about getting lamb but I know that when it is very well executed could be unbeatable. The waitress highly recommended it. It was chewy and not uniformly cooked. We had the bread pudding for dessert and it was delicious. You might think that I am picky and perfectionist but we are talking about around 60$ per dish for the beef and lamb. Service: was excellent Swifties if you see my review I know that you know that I'm telling the truth

Great restaurant and great service. We held our work christmas dinner here and had a private room. The waitress is very sweet and attentive. The empanadas were amazing chicken and beef were the favorite of our group. The steak was flavorful and portions were big. Definitely great place for private dinners and date night.

This was the Vegetable Platter- simply delicious and scrumptious presentation!

The food, the service and the ambiance was fabulous!! I absolutely recommend this restaurant. It was a girls vacation/family reunion for me and my sisters- 4 of us. We all chose something different and each of us loved our entrees. The appetizers were absolutely to die for and dessert was perfect! Our waitress was very attentive but not overly attentive- just right!

First time at Piropos and it was lovely. I have never been to Argentina or an Argentinian restaurant but I have to say the food was really. We started off with the beef empanadas, omg so flavorful, hot and flaky crust. I had the pan seared mahi mahi with the lobster risotto which was absolutely fantastic. I cleared my plate, no crumbs were left. For desert we got the banana bread, it basically tasted like wet banana bread. A tres leche cake but with banana bread. That was the only let down of the experience. Overall fantastic food, great service and interesting restaurant. I will be back!

Here for a private party and the food was amazing. Everything was freshly made and cooked to perfection. The service staff were so helpful and kind. The ambiance is elegant but felt cozy and warm.

We were celebrating our 42nd wedding anniversary and had heard people rave about this place so we decided to go. The decor is interesting with several rooms for seating. We were in the side room for a 6:15 reservation so no great views of the Skyline for us. It was cozy but decor seems a little tired? We started with the empanadas and they were ok. Would probably try something different for apps next time. My house salad was good with a nice acidic dressing and my husband said his Cesar was unremarkable although the presentation was great. Steaks were very good and cooked to request. I loved my potatoes a gratin and the mushrooms were very good, too. We got a complimentary cheesecake for dessert which was nice and we added the banana cake because we just wanted to try it. We liked that the best. We would return to try some more menu items and while it was good, it didn't seem to live up to the hype for us.

I mentioned the sort of oysters just as a reference (and yes I was asked this) We each had one of the following: Aphrodite, Birthday Girl, Blackstone. Delicious. Perfectly medium and soft. So good. More nuanced than salmon? I had the Chicken Fried Halibut Clavicle. I would normally order lighter and more toward raw or lightly cooked dishes. Having someone prepare an underused part of a fish... in the Midwest? I had to do it. Photos won't do that plate justice (because it was deep fried), but let me put it this way: if you're a "white meat" chicken person, you're probably happy with a halibut filet. But if you're a chicken thigh person... this is your order. Clavicle bones are angular and sorta fluted so a lot of the meat is contacting bone. Insanely moist and flavorful, but just as snow-white. Atop a bed of country mashed potatoes and sage gravy, and collard greens. Loved it. More food than the photo shows. Wow. I didn't expect that. Must have been a large fish to begin with. The counter downstairs looks cool, but the view from above provides a grounded sense of space for downtown. This place looks good on Parkville... but Parkville looks good on this place. We have lived here 13 years and have longed for a proper place to occupy the best physical space in the street. Nailed it. A great date night made better by our experience here.

Our waitress, however, was very nice and explained how the menu works. She brought us water, but it was terrible - by terrible, I mean country water with that weird metallic taste. Our waitress said she knew and that it was just how Gladstone water is - my husband agrees. Anyway, we ordered one of the boil bags with crab legs and shrimp. It came our pretty quickly and they did provide bibs and wet wipes and there were napkins on the table, so we could use as many as we wanted. Our waitress opened our bag for us and dumped it into the waiting tray. They have buckets on the table for all the shells and other trash. We did wear our bibs and said we would only have this meal with certain people because it is messy!! It was the crab legs that made it messy - if I went with someone else I would probably have shrimp (awesome) and sausage (didn't try, but I bet it's good). The shells of the crab legs were a bit soft, which our waitress asked us about. She said they have a new chef, so she was happy to provide some coaching. The place is way bigger on the inside than it appears from the front. Plenty of seating. I definitely recommend checking it out!!

Solid place to grab a cocktail and appetizer!…read more I met a friend here for Happy Hour on a crazy hot Friday afternoon. I had a Cosmo and she had a gin cocktail. We ordered the mussels, fries and tuna tartare. Everything was wonderful but a special shoutout goes to the grilled bread/delicious sauce situation that came with the mussels. Chef's kiss! The fries were crinkle cut and well seasoned and piping hot. The tartare was ice cold and very flavorful. All in all, a great spot to catch up and nosh. Highly recommend!

We started with Spicy Gizzards ( Regular size was plenty for two, BTW not spicy ) and the 3 piece crawfish meat pie. Both were awesome. The meat pies take awhile, and they arrive Super Hot ( temperature ). When they arrive, break them open and let them cool!!! We both got baskets. The Fries and hush puppies are hot and delicious. My alligator was fire and my friend's catfish was light and fresh. For dessert we shared the Carrot Cake. It's made by Golden Boy ( local bakery ). It was one of best I've had. I was surprised it was delivered in a to go box. I didn't finish my gater, but I devoured that cake!

Ice cold beer, fresh fried foods and the variety cannot be beat. We ordered the horn high sampler platter with frog legs, shrimp, alligator and a crab cake. It was so much food, I'm glad we split it! Our waitress brought out all the sauces they offer and I was so happy. She was quick with the refills despite how busy it was! Will bring family/out of town friends again and make them try all the funky offerings!
