This was my go to Thai buffet when we lived in NC back in the 90s. Its also one of our stops whenever we come back for a visit. I love this little place. We came here on a Monday about 1p, as the lunch buffet ends at 2p, and any lunch rush is already gone. The buffet offers the same popular Thai dishes that I remember and what brings me back. Some of my favorites are, pad thai, pad woon sen, chicken curry, egg rolls and spring rolls, beef basil, larb, Thai beef salad and papaya salad to name a few...oh rhe chicken wings are tasty as well, I remember they used to put them in the sweet chili sauce, but now they are served dry and you can add your own sauce.the beef basil has a little kick, so be careful if you don't want too much spice. Chicken curry is so good over the rice. I did not get to have larb today because they did not refill the tray. Thats alright because they had all the other dishes available. The decor of this place has not changed in all these years. I should've taken some pictures. I thought I had done so a few years ago, but I dont even see pics I posted from before. There is a bar attached, I never noticed that it was open during the day. But from what I could see, there was a pool table as you walk in. I ordered the combo drunken noodles and chicken yellow curry. I also got their spring rolls as an appetizer. I ordered 4 of those 2 for me and 2 for my husband. They were so good that I ate them all! I definitely didn't tell my husband about that lol!!! Their dipping sauce is a spicy sweet thai chili which was pleasantly surprising. I like spicy stuff. The drunken noodles I got mild and it wasn't spicy at all and the curry I got medium which to me was also not spicy. The place was empty and the meal came so fast that I suspect the noodles were not fresh made for my meal but had been sitting in the pot overcooking waiting for someone order. Be warned. This is perhaps the Thai restaurant around the area that serves the greatest number of food menus. They got huge selection of traditional Thai food. They salad bar, fruits, and soups every day. The place is huge- never have I been here packed. I normally go during their buffet hours which last till 2pm. Most of the time, I arrive 15 mins before 2pm and they would normally tell me that I could go and get food that I like in multiple plates, because they will take the food out off the buffet exactly at 2pm. Sure I could do that but the food will not be hot or warm anymore, especially I am a slow eater. Not their fault, though some Thai buffets nearby are more lenient in leaving the food out for just a bit to give more time for the late comers, they will not feel rushed. The customer service is excellent, they got great Thai food. Unfortunately, they don't have tom yum soup on their buffet soup selection. At least, never seen tom yum during my random visits. Some other Thai restaurants nearby actually have tom yum days, and one restaurant they have tom yum every day. I mean, what's with Thai buffet without Tom yum soup. Answer me. They had a small selection but much of it included meat so I opted to order from their array of vegetarian selections on the menu. So the issue---the way you cash out is to walk to the door and tell the person at the register what you ordered to pay....they don't give you a bill. Out of the 10 people in line in front of me and the three people in my party (who had the buffet)....the waitress followed me to the register and before the cashier asked me what I had, the waitress told her it was 17$. This was beyond unprofessional. If you don't trust your customers, give them a bill to cash out with vs. singling them out. I was embarrassed and I was with work colleagues for a profession event. Extremely rude service. We entered the restaurant at 8PM. The restaurant closes at 8:30. Prior to ordering food, the server constantly reminded us that they close soon. A few minutes after serving our food, the waiter brought the check as a way to tell us to eat faster. A minute after bringing the check, he asked us whether we were going to pay with cash or credit. And Yesterday, I went there for dinner with my husband, I ordered Pad Khee Mao ( Drunken Noodle) the very spicy one for a Thai person as I am, and my husband ordered cashew chicken. The food was soooo good!! I have been in the US for 5 years and eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants in many cities I visited, I have to say there was only one I found delicious is the one called Nava Thai in DC, i did not think there will be any restaurant in the US cook the dish so good again since I have tried so many. I used to eat here for lunch on a weekly basis when I was an indentured servant. The buffet is pretty good and fresh with the kitchen/servers constantly replenishing the buffet. Most of the buffet items were mildly spicy to account for american tastes (read: not too hot), but still tasty. Stopped in for dinner here this past Monday with 2 other people. Up front is a buffet area which is apparently open for lunch. The dining area is tiny. The 3 of us were seated at a very small table for four that was literally so close that I could have been holding the hand of the man at the table next to us. I couldn't tell who was actually waiting on us: the little girl who had just woken from her nap, a middle aged lady, or an older man. They all stopped by. The woman took our drink order: all waters. The man took our food orders. We ordered 8 spring rolls (what can I say? The guys like to eat...). 2 of us ordered Pad Thai with chicken and the other guy ordered a bowl of some sort of soup with modifications. Apparently they're regulars there and he usually gets a special order, but the lady still couldn't remember the sauce (or how to pronounce it) that goes with it. His soup came out. Meanwhile, my friend and I waited...no spring rolls or Pad Thai. We asked about the spring rolls. 4 were brought out. At least we had something to snack on while we waited. About 5 minutes later our Pad Thai came out. Very standard and nothing special about it. Maybe I'm spoiled because any kind of authentic ethnic food I could ever want is in the triangle? Raleigh puts Fayetteville's Thai to shame...they need more culture! We asked about the other 4 spring rolls. Then we asked again. And again....Finally they were brought out after we were halfway done with our entrees. The little girl who had woken from her nap at the front desk stopped by to say hello since she was now taking drink orders and visiting tables. I asked how old she was. Second grade. Wow! So much for child labor laws?!? She told me she'd already done her homework so at least she's got her priorities straight. She was absolutely adorable though!!! I ate here today for the first time. It was a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was not very busy. My friend who is from Fayetteville, says they are packed for their weekday lunch buffet, but the weekend had no buffet. We had the pad thai, the coconut tofu soup, and the cold rolls that I can never remember the name of (wrapped with the thin, translucent rice paper). Pad Thai and coconut tofu soup are always my tests of a Thai restaurant, and Thai Pepper passed with flying colors. The Pad was not too greasy, and the soup was just spicy enough. We were ordering off the vegetarian section of the menu (that was surprisingly long for Fayetteville), and I was pleased that the server came back and asked if egg was OK in the pad thai (usually they just assume that if you ordered it, you're OK with the egg--fine by my but I appreciated the above and beyond service to be aware enough to ask. The staff was friendly and helpful, and complied with all our strange requests (my friend and I have some particular way we like food). If I lived in Fayetteville, this restaurant would be one of my regular stops. read more

Thai pepper on Reilly Road is hands down the best place to get your Pad Thai. I have not tried anything else but I have probably come in at least 20 times just for this dish. I used to really like sawadee's in Spring Lake but I stopped going 2 years ago when they went under new management and changed their recipe for their pad Thai. I choose to call and pick up my order because it's always a little awkward to dine inside. I don't think they're very friendly. Their restaurant is decently clean. Their pad Thai to me is delicious but I've known other places to make theirs spicy. Thai Pepper makes theirs sweet and mild tasting but I'm sure you can request it to be spicy. Its perfect for me though because my 3 year old son can share a dish with me. Price is pretty good for the amount of food you get.
