I ordered the lunch special Pad Thai chicken. It comes with soup.... Which had mushy vegetables and an odd tasting broth. The pad Thai smelled like fish food, and did not taste any better. I just could not muster the strength to eat it. Instead, I opted for the white rice just to have some filling in my stomach before seeing a movie. The lunch special also comes with an egg roll, which was the only good part of my meal, despite the fact that the egg roll was the length of my thumb. I will not be returning. What a waste of $10. Phenomenal mango curry. The restaurant is well decorated and intimate (other than the televisions). Best Thai food my girlfriend and I have had so far, and we have had a lot of Thai food. My husband and I came here for the Thai food in one of our first real dinners after moving to the area. Lovely, authentic interior. But neither one of our Thai meals were anything to rave about. My pad Thai was way too sweet and left me feeling sick after eating. I would have let our server know if she had come to check on us since placing the order. The tray of spices never came to the table and our drinks were never refilled. We decided not to come again. Then the next night, we wanted sushi and darn if we didn't end up in the same restaurant, thinking the sushi restaurant was a separate business. Very confusing but nope just a different menu. We tried it anyway. Different server, but same terrible service. Our sushi rolls came out 30 minutes apart so I was finished by the time he got his food. No apologies from anybody and then the server disappeared for another 45 minutes. Fish was not fresh and the rolls were terribly assembled and fell apart. Overall this restaurant seems confused and apathetic. The food was ok and the service was lacking both times. We won't be going back. read more

I only give 1 star because Yelp doesn't have 0. I'm flabbergasted at our experience with this place. Our party arrived at 8:30pm tonight to an almost empty restaurant. After being seated for 30 seconds, the waitress asked if we were ready to order. We said we needed more time but asked to order the soup to start to which she declined, stating the kitchen was closing and she needed the whole order. We needed more time and she walked away. At most, 2 minutes later, she returned and once again reminded us that the kitchen would be closing. We said we were ready and she walked away and disappeared into the kitchen. Perhaps she didn't understand? Upon her return, we ordered. My boyfriend requested to have the typical chile and sauces to come with dinner as they weren't on the table. She said that she would check to make sure they weren't dumped out because.. You guessed it. The kitchen was closing. At this point we were all turned off by the lack of customer service. Clearly she was not aware that she works in hospitality. We inquired again to confirm about the business hours. She said they close at 9pm but the kitchen closes at 8:30. Huh?? So we politely suggested that she not be so pushy about rushing guests to which she replied "Do you still want to put the order in"? We all looked at each other in surprise.. "Um no. Thanks. We will go somewhere else." And we did. Thankfully, as we were driving to Thai Peru, a friend happened to call and recommended Sawadee, another Thai restaurant in town. Substandard food & service marred what we were hoping would have been a better first time visit. Although they were not busy for lunch, my wife and I waited over 30 minutes from the time we sat down and finally being served. My wife ordered a simple Chicken Chow Mein dish that was primarily stir fry veggies, a little chicken and a ball of white rice on the side. I ordered the steak "Milaneza" (a chicken-fried steak), which is supposed to be one of their specialty dishes. It was served with its own pool of oil sitting on the top (not very appetizing) and had absolutely no flavor or seasoning at all...bland, bland, bland! The table salt or white pepper did nothing to improve its flavor. I must have left two-thirds of it on the plate when we left, it was so unappetizing. It did come with a small side salad as well, but it was nothing special -- iceberg lettuce, some sliced tomatoes & shredded carrots, but no choice of dressing, just plain house dressing (vinegar & oil). That was not what I wanted or expected so I didn't finish that either. I have to mention that while we were waiting for our food we noticed that the table was kinda sticky, like it hadn't been cleaned well. You could even see some dare areas on the table of what appeared to be spots of black grime that was not cleaned. We even thought that the table menu for drinks and desserts that was placed on the end was permanently stuck on the table until we were able to peel it up and see more items on the back. Yuck! To emphasize how poor their service was, the waitstaff also never checked back with us even once about our food or drinks. Obviously no tip was added to the bill and we will never visit this place again. read more

Thai Peru is good little Thai restaurant. Portions are reasonably sized. We had dinner for four: ordered egg rolls and soup for appetizers and pad-thai, chicken pa nang curry, and the duck dish(can't remember the name). Everything was pretty good, we went easy on the heat so nothing was too spicy. The wifey likes the lomo saltado beef. The service is always good. Would recommend. Came to this location with my family. This is much more of a Thai restaurant than a Peruvian place. The food was good, but I wouldn't recommend the ceviche. It was served warm. This is a dish that is ALWAYS served cold. We mentioned this to our server and she asked us "Do you want me to put this in the fridge for you?". I thought she was joking till I realized she wasn't. Our entrees were already on the table, so we returned the warm ceviche plate. There weren't any other people in the restaurant and this may be the reason. The Bistek a la Chorillana, Papa La Huancaina and Lomo Saltado were good. We were charged for the full plate for the warm ceviche. I think that might be against health codes it being seafood and all. I didn't want to make an issue of it, but I would have liked that to have been removed from the bill since we only ate literally 3 pieces of seafood from the plate. I should have dropped a deuce in their bathroom but my mom held me back. Needless to say I will not be retuning, like everyone else has. read more

I decided to give Thai Peru a shot for lunch today in Camarillo. They had a sign out front with some different deals they were offering so I ordered two of the $5 Pad Thai lunch specials to go for me and a friend. Right off the bat, I could tell the server lady was either in a bad mood or mad that I ordered the lunch specials to go. About 8 minutes later she comes back out with my food in a bag. When she handed it to me, I thanked her and asked if I could get some soy sauce. Says nothing, walks back into the kitchen and a minute later comes out with 1 packet of soy sauce. So I'm like whatever, take the soy sauce, put it in the bag and noticed that there are no napkins or utensils. She had already walked away by this time across the restraunt and was talking to her friend. So I ask her from across the totally empty restraunt if I could have some utensils and napkins please. She goes back into the kitchen and comes out with 1 plastic fork in her hand and hands it to me and says "we usually dont give utensils to people who order $5 specials". So I ask her what I'm suppose to do, eat noodles with my hands? She doesnt say anything and walks away. Needless to day, I think the $5 specials are just to lure people in, like mentioned in another review. Will I be back? Absolutley not! read more

I've eaten here several times and almost always have gotten the chicken pad thai. It's usually pretty good; however, today I brought two others and we all got the pad thai... it stunk like fish, looked unusually yellow, and tasted funny. Our server disappeared, so I made a comment about it to another server passing by and she pretty much ignored our concerns. Horrible customer service. We ate the rice, but left the pad thai untouched. Still no comment from the server. Unfortunately, this has ruined my experience with this restaurant and I probably will never go back. We happened into Thai Peru Restaurant tonight following a movie at the Roxy. We were VERY pleasantly surprised. The food was really good, the restaurant was very clean and the service was excellent . The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. We highly recommend their menu specials. We travel a great deal for business and are always looking for great places to eat close to home. We have tried a number of restaurants in the area. This will be our new "Go To" asian restaurant in Camarillo / Moorpark / Thousand Oaks. Can't wait to tell our 20+ year old kids who are driving into the city for good Thai food! read more

Great food but some of the worst servers/service ever. They will also lie to you. They told us on the phone they were open until 8 pm on Sunday and when we arrived at 6:30 pm the doors were locked and they were no longer answering the phone! Not the first time they have closed earlier than they told us on the phone. They have great yellow curry but servers have bad attitudes. I will take the blame for not looking more closely and we have Thai Peruvian places nearby so I did make an assumption. But honestly, you agree to deliver almost 20 miles away? Over 2 hours later, our order arrives and for almost $100 it was largely inedible, cold, and tough. What may have been quite tasty was just blah. I loved the chimicurri; threw out the seafood entirely. Kids liked the rice. So that was something. So sad. Don't advertise if you can't follow through;don't order if you can't live with low expectations. read more

We like this place because of the food. Their customer service is "ok" but could be a lot better. The reason I say that is because when you come in, you basically seat yourself. They also take a long time coming to ask you what you want and bringing the check. The food does not take super long though. As far as ambience, it's a very traditional restaurant, which I like. However, there is no AC so we tend to sit outside on hot days (although we get forgotten about out there). The food is excellent. I usually get the pad thai and I love it! It's a sweet type of pad thai that has a lot of flavor, and doesn't taste like the noodles haven't been washed. The texture is also great, it's smooth and slippery. I've only had the beef lomo saltado on the peruvian menu. It was "ok" but didn't have enough beef for me. I make better lomo at home. read more

The place is fantastic! Some of the best Pad Thai I've had! I do take out from here with my office every once in a while, and we are never disappointed. They have three different levels of heat: mild spicy, medium spicy, and hot spicy. Typically, when I order spicy Pad Thai at other restaurants, it isn't spicy at all (even when I ask for it to be spicy). So my first time getting it here I said "I'd like those to be spicy-spicy please". Well, it was WAY spicy! But I LOVE it like that, so it didn't bother me at all. If you're not a big spice lover, opt for medium. It still has a nice kick, but isn't overwhelming. I haven't ate inside before, so I can't contest to how the service is there. But just from ordering take-out, it seems pretty good! They also have a nice array of Peruvian dishes, that I hear are pretty good. So far, I have only had the Thai. If you're wavering about giving this place a shot, do it. You won't be disappointed. read more

The food is pretty darn good, but I have to honestly say that the building and the decoration is pretty tired and dated. The carpeting is almost gone in some high traffic areas. They are never busy and they're not getting their fair share of customers because of the tired looking building so I would have to say it's an excellent choice for takeout.
