    Lunch tacos.
    Dawn R.

Thank you Emily for making our lunch experience so positive. You noticed us struggling with the menu kiosk and offered to help. The food was very tasty and served fresh and hot in a timely manner. The sunlight coming in the large windows was wonderful on a cool day. The space was calming and peaceful. We highly recommend visiting.

    Teriyaki bowl

I've been to balance a few times already, and I think it's one of the spots that is great if you're feeling something healthy and quick. I'm not the biggest fan of cilantro, so I very rarely go to chipotle, but balance feels like an Asian inspired chipotle. Emphasis on the inspired, because as a Chinese American, a lot of this is pushing the boundaries of what is truly Asian food. Despite the questionable origins of the flavors used, I generally find other ingredients are quite fresh and delicious. I appreciate the variety of sauces they have, as well as the different options for toppings. I personally really enjoy the potatoes. I recently tried the four-star bowl, which I think was a bit underwhelming but I added potatoes and daikon radish. I have personally enjoyed the Korean bibimbap bowl and the Yum Yum sauce bowl. My friend got the teriyaki bowl and really enjoyed that. Previously I've had their nachos, which are honestly surprisingly really delicious. I love the texture of the nachos! I've had their tacos for taco week, which were an interesting flavor and pretty unique, but I'm not entirely sure I would get them again. I've had the bubble tea from them as well, and honestly they're not my favorite. I feel like the bubbles were bland and left something to be desired. I feel like bowls are definitely the way to go here, and I like that there are healthy and convenient options located downtown. Some of the items on the menu are definitely hit or miss, but I'll still probably return.

I was a little disappointed with my meal at Balance recently. Usually I really like places like this- Chipotle, Bibibop- build your own meal types of restaurants, but the taste just wasn't there. I got the wiseman bowl with chicken because the server had said it was the most popular. The Szechuan sauce came on the side so you get to pour in how much you like- I found that because you are pouring in the sauce after its made instead of the sauce being stir fried with the food, it never really mixed well with the other ingredients. The vegetables were fresh, but totally bland. Plus if you wanted extra sauces you have to pay extra- I wish they could be provided free of charge like most other places do. This is a nice, healthy option in downtown, but I just did not find the flavor of the bowl as good as other rice bowl-style places I've had in the past. I don't think I'll be coming back to balance unfortunately!

Wiseman bowl -- with brown rice and chicken as the protein
    Agnes I.

I was downtown for a volunteer training meeting today (Saturday) and I decided to stop in to Balance Pan-Asian Grille. They opened in November 2018. The food here can be compared to Chipotle, Piada Italian steet food, or Bibibop asian grill. The price here is a bit high for lunch ($8.50) for a bowl so the price here is similar to Piada. Chipotle and Bibibop are definitely a bit cheaper. You also can't really compare this place to Chipotle because you actually get vegetables here with your meal and you don't really at Chipotle except for corn and lettuce. CASUAL RESTAURANT -- You order at the counter and wait for your order to be called out (similar to the other restaurants I mentioned above - Chipotle, etc). LUNCH -- Delicious. I was very full after eating. I ordered the Wiseman bowl which comes with vegetables, your choice of protein (tofu, lentils, chicken, or steak) and your choice of a carb/starch base (brown rice, vegetables, etc). I got my bowl with brown rice and chicken. The vegetables in the Wiseman bowl are shredded carrots, corn, broccoli, kale, and bean sprouts. The szechuan sauce is what really completed the meal. It is basically soy sauce but has a slight sweetness to it. It is the perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and savoury. The sauce isn't spicy at all, at least for my taste buds because I love spicy foods. DRINKS -- They sell traditional drinks (water and soft drinks or soda pop) but they have bubble tea. I didn't buy a bubble tea when I visited so I'll have to come back again a second time to try one. The have milk teas which you can get vegan by choosing Almond Milk. They also have iced-teas. SERVICE -- Service was awesome. I was greeted when I entered and the menu was explained to me. Overall, I recommend coming here for lunch. There are options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. P.S. Order your lunch in advance during the week. I was told that they get very busy during the weekday (Mon. - Fri.) during the hours of 11am - 2pm, so lunch hours. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was very quiet. The guy behind the cashier told me that they are not busy at all on Saturdays and they are closed on Sundays. It's sad that this area of downtown doesn't get much visitors who want to eat or shop at the surrounding arcade building especially since the always popular 4th street gets very busy on weekends. I believe with the new apartment building being built in this part of downtown then perhaps more locals will stop by here to eat. *** - 60 total reviews in 2019 - 269 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 13 April 2019 - Ate here on 13 April 2019

Wiseman Bowl with Creamy Wontons and Taro Bubble Tea
    Christina P.

I came here once before and I stand by the fact that this is a fantastic addition to downtown Cleveland. Fresh, clean Asian-fusion cuisine - perfect for lunch. The interior is minimalistic but clean and nice. The kitchen is behind a giant glass so you see the people work but it somehow doesn't feel intrusive. This time around I ordered a Wiseman Bowl ($8.50) on a bed of brown rice (they do have an option of white rice as well as a fresh greens as your base) with chicken as my protein. I love that the dressing comes on the side. I also ordered the Creamy Wontons ($5.00) because they are delicious. To top it off, I got the taro bubble tea. The food is great and customizable. The staff if friendly and give great suggestions if you're not sure what to get. If I'm downtown for lunch, I'm definitely coming back!

Honestly, it was really tough choose a healthy option over my beloved Taco Bell or even pizza 216 (shout out) but this place was sooooo good. Not only was the food healthy AND delicious I feel really good after eating it too. Pictured below : (Chicken bowl, fried rice with sassy me sauce And wontons)

Glad to see a refresher of eateries move onto this spot on Euclid. The space is clean and lots of sunlight comes in through the front windows glass than spans the entire front of the building. Good diverse menu and I hope to go again soon!

Not a bad place for fast and healthy food. After my Harness Cycle class, I went just across the street to Balance Pan-Asian Grille for lunch. While the line was long, due to the number of businesspeople who were also hungry for food, it passed by super quickly, and I was able to get my order within 5 minutes of speaking with the cashier person. The concept is pretty simple - choice of sauce and veggies, protein, and carb. Normally, when I order at restaurants like this, I ask for the sauce to be on the side. But Balance Pan-Asian Grille already pre-packs their sauces in separate containers, which is nice. All in all, the food was pretty decent, not to mention the restaurant is kept so clean. The only major criticism I had about the place is that the flavors don't really mesh together. Essentially, I got a heap of vegetables, some chicken on the bottom, and sauce for dipping/drizzling on top of everything. This is something I can definitely make at home myself, but I will say Balance Pan-Asian Grille is nice in terms of convenience.

    $2 Cleveland Taco Week tacos
    Rena S.

We came here last weekend for the Cleveland Taco week. This place surprised us. All three tacos were large and had lots of delicious toppings. The mongo taco was incredible, but all three were very good. This place doesn't sell alcohol - it feels like more of a spot to grab lunch, but the tacos were super filling and for $8 we got three tacos and a soda. I'd definitely come back.

    Kathy M.

Went for Cleveland Taco Week. These were by far the best tacos I had out of the few places we went. They loaded up the tacos, they were not stingy. Service was fast and the people were friendly. I got two Mongo Tacos and one SoHo Taco. I should have done it the other way around. The Soho was fabulous, though they were both good. The sauce is what made it. The perk was that we were able to get the $2 taco deal and get it to go. The establishment looked very clean. We were even lucky enough to get parking on the street in the front. Highly recommend trying this place.

Wiseman with tofu and half brown rice half greens
    Abby M.

Okay so this would have been 4 stars until my friend pointed out the glaring similarity to the much more flavorful, less expensive, and generously portioned BIBIBOP Asian Grille. I know it's not exactly the same thing because Balance has a greater variety of sides (which looked really tasty) and drinks, like creative bubble tea flavors, available. However, as far as asian-inspired fast casual places in Cleveland go, I appreciate this one but it's just not as strong and can't help but make the comparison. I did appreciate the flavor of the Wiseman bowl with tofu and the option to have it on a bed of greens with a side of brown rice at no extra charge. That was a good option to add variety. There were lots of sauces to choose from on top of the one that already comes on the side of your premade bowl, but disappointingly they cost an extra 50 cents each. Again not to compare but..... Tastes good, filled me up mostly, and healthy options over all--no ragrets just wouldn't go back over other options in the area.

Really liked the food here! It tasted very fresh, and I liked being able to see the containers of veggies in storage while waiting in line to order. I came in with a friend around 12:45pm on a Monday and we waited maybe 10 minutes total to order and receive our food, so not too bad! I ordered the Wiseman bowl with noodles and chicken ($8.50). The bowl came out with fried rice instead, but the employee was very friendly and apologetic and immediately got me a side of noodles for my bowl. The ingredients on my bowl were all tasty, and I loved the chicken! The noodles and fried rice were both good too, so I would recommend either for the starch choice. I appreciated the tray full of cups of ice water next to the pick up counter for patrons eating there too! The only problems we encountered were that they were out of the brown rice and the wontons (seemed kind of odd to be missing two big items at that time of day), and the employee at the front register taking our orders was less than friendly to my friend when she asked a a couple questions about the menu (not an ideal experience for our first time here). Overall, I really liked the food, so I would definitely return to Balance if in the area again!

    Teriyaki chicken bowl
    Rodney W.

Stopped by Balance for lunch on a recent occasion. I really like these high quality food shops that let you pick your bowl ingredients. Since I'm minimizing carbs these days, I opted for a healthy bowl. I got some teriyaki chicken, veggies, noodles, and bean sprouts. The bowl was delicious and healthy. It's a nice getaway from Chipotle and it costs less than Rebol. Recommend!

We ordered the rare beef noodle soup, a dish with spicy fish, and a clay pot brisket dish. Rare beef noodle soup: (3/5) This dish came with sliced rare beef, onions, bean sprouts, noodles, veggies, and a few other things. The soup was kind of bland and the beef portions were kind of small. The noodles were also average. Spicy fish dish: (5/5) It was indeed spicy and the fish and vegetables were delicious. The fish was tender and had a nice texture unlike some other restaurants that just heat things up in a bag. Brisket clay pot: (5/5) The brisket was super tender and tasty. The vegetables and radish that came with it also had a nice flavor. I know few restaurants that can make this dish as good as this one. Service: (4/5) Our server came to refill water frequently and checked in on us. Ambiance: (3/5) It was nice and quiet since we came close to closing time. One of the employees was eating in the back. The interior was clean though the bathrooms were kind of wet and they had no paper towels and had a moldy hand dryer. Just so you know, they don't have hot tea for free.

Ice or Rice is located in Cleveland's Asiatown, surrounded by many other Asian restaurants, and has a non-descript exterior and a basic AF interior. There is also only street parking so be aware of that. I was the only customer at 1pm on a Sunday. It only took about 8 minutes for my order to be ready and packaged to go. I was going to order a poke bowl but decided against it when I saw how few ingredients there were. No edamame? Heresy! So at the last minute, I changed my plans and ordered the Thai Dog ($7) and a Spam Musubi ($4.50) and took them home with me to eat for lunch/dinner. The Thai Dog was a generously sized hot dog on a white bun with some pickled vegetables, smothered in 3 different sauces (although I did ask for light sauce). I thought it was delicious, if about $2 overpriced. I ate the Spam Musubi piece for dinner and although also very yummy (I forgot how much I enjoy the smokiness of spam!), this was definitely overpriced at $4.50. I have seen spam musubi usually cost about $3. I won't harp on too much about the price though. Haha! There are lots of other restaurants in the area but Ice or Rice is centrally located and is great for grab and go meals. I LOVE all the Hawaiian dishes on there as well! We were really looking forward to a Cambodian restaurant and saw that they had one in Cleveland. It's a beautiful restaurant in a busy street. Like I mentioned before, staff was really nice. Actually, it was 1 male server that was doing everything from hosting, taking orders, serving, and everything else while juggling different customers. Surprisingly, service was very quick. It went down from there. None of the dishes were authentic. They said that they had to accommodate the clientale around there and therefore, it's more americanized. If we had wanted authentic dishes, we would have to call in advance to place that order so that they can pull things from the freezer and prepare it. Why would we do that? It was our first time there. We thought it'll be just like every other restaurant. You go in, order what's on the menu, and expect that to come out. Not ask for fried fish and they tell you that it's still in the freezer. Or, ask for Amok and they said that they only make 10 (or was it 20?) per day, but someone had called in advance the day before to order them all. Even their Somlor Machu Kreung only had celeries as their vegetables because they said thrakhoun would just spoil. At least add some jalapenos, green papaya, tomatoes, etc to it. In addition, all the food proportions were so small. It's definitely not family-style dishes. Oh yes, I do not understand why their basil chicken fried rice was red and looking like tomato paste. Perhaps it's a Cleveland thing? I'm from the South and we do not make our basil fried rice like that. Flavors were okay for some dishes and other dishes were just plain.
