My daughter and I had an early dinner at Thai Pot this afternoon. The food was great! I had the Pad See Ew and it was wonderful! Everything was flavorful and fresh. The portion was large - I will eat the rest for lunch tomorrow. The service was also good, prompt and friendly. I asked for a pitcher of water to be brought to the table, and it was brought promptly. My daughter asked for her order to be spicy, and it was! She enjoyed it very much, and also had leftovers. We would not hesitate to go back to Thai Pot. read more

We used to live nearby & ate here often. Sad to say, we won't be going back after our last visit. We were "greeted" by a man at the door that said absolutely nothing. We walked in and after seeing his blank stare, we asked for a table for two. It was an hour before closing and we were the only ones there. The silent man seated us, gave us a few minutes, then walked back over with an order pad. He still said nothing. We let him know what we wanted,, then he turned around and walked off. So far, he did not say one single word to us...not even a gesture. Just a blank stare that definitely made us feel very unwelcome. A very kind lady brought us a couple beers and a few minutes later, an order of eggrolls. (We didn't order anything more because we felt so unwelcome.) 3 of the 4 eggrolls were ok. The 4th one was overdone, as if it had been reheated. It looked pretty unappetizing to have been served--and it, unsurprisingly, didn't taste good either. The lady brought us our check, we paid, and walked toward the door. The silent man suddenly appeared and said thank you with a smile so big you could see it through his mask! He could not have been happier that we were leaving and it definitely showed. There are two sides to every story. If he were to tell the story in an honest manner, he would say that we were kind, low (no) maintenance, only stayed a half hour, and left the dishes stacked up on our still clean table. It was so quiet in there, we thought they would have appreciated the business. Guess not. We'll grant their wish and not give them our money again. (* We still recommend the Sebastopol location. They're alright. Pretty standard Thai food. Right in the middle of the road, qualitywise. I usually get takeout and bring it back to the office and their takeout orders go pretty fast. I never have to wait that long (of course it really depends on if you ordered during rush hour or not). Reliable food, fast pick up, pretty standard. Super disappointed with the food. The guy at the door was scary nice and the food was ready fast but my pad thai tasted like dirt... and I literally mean it tasted like soil. I took the top layer off thinking maybe the veggies on top weren't washed but nope, the whole dang thing tasted and kinda smelled like dirt. Very odd, very disgusting. read more

I ordered their food from grub hub. I had the cashew vegetable stir fry... my plate was filled with onions and mushrooms, when I specifically asked for cashews, carrots and broccoli. I received no rice to go with this box full of soup. The egg rolls were good so i gave them two stars for the cause. Chicken pad thai was really amazing! Even cold leftovers the next day were yummy. Crab wontons were amazing and very full, not like most places where you get a little smidge of cheese and crab amongst the fried wonton. Babysitter was happy with her veggie chow mein, said it was some of the best they had. Spring rolls with peanut sauce were a huge disappointment. Spring rolls were okay by themselves but didn't taste very fresh. I'm pretty sure the peanut sauce was natural peanut butter. No flavor and oily but thick. Ordered through a delivery app and it was delivered after about 20 minutes although we were quoted an hour. I'd go back but I'd steer clear of the spring rolls. read more

I've ordered from this place 3 times via Grubhub. Taste is consistent, very bland always. The price for curry is very high considering its size. I'm vegan and was told by person that answered phone, "choose chicken but put in notes, make vegan style." 1 of the 3 times order was fulfilled as requested. The vegetables tasted old. This is the worst food I've had at a sit down restaurant. The atmosphere is quiet. I love quiet restaurants but in this case it's quiet because nobody's there. Despite this being so close to my house I would not eat here again. If you are the owner, please, buy fresh vegetables every day. The cost is worth it. You are losing business due to the poor quality ingredients. You will never get me back as a customer because I won't try your food again, despite the great price. This place is not a place you go to for thai food. It is far from thai food. The saving grace was the thai salad that was very fresh (but still tasted slightly "different"). The curry we ordered tasted too much like bamboo and had like 3 pieces of meat in it. It had a ton of vegetables in it which actually was a turn off. I was grossed out by this dish. Now why the 3 stars? The servers who work there are extremely nice and on top of their game. This definetly made the experience bareable. Thank you for being great hosts. Now a letter to the owner: Dear Thai Pot, If you want some advice from a serious foodie, please do yourself a favor and get a thai chef in for at least long enough to teach you how to cook good thai food. Because at this time, this white girl can cook a meaner curry then you can. And please, stop trying to save money on ingredients. People are willing to pay more if you have higher quality food. The Tom Ka soup is one of our favorites. I've had both the chicken and the seafood version, very tasty. The hot basil pork is also one of my favorites but the chicken satay is always fantastic and takes the top spot for me. The only draw back to this place is the service, I can tell by who is working that day if it's going to be good or not. To say "your welcome" or "no problem" or some kind of acknowledgement when someone says thank you is really not that hard. read more

My first Thai restaurant experience in Santa Rosa and not that great. The thing that really made me mad about this place was the fact that they asked if we wanted brown or white rice and then charged us $2 x 2 for rice! What kind of Asian restaurant charges for the rice that comes with the meal? Anyway, the food was OK. A little heavy on the vegetable ratio. The mango sticky rice was pretty good. I must enjoy Thai Pot as I've been going there for years now. It's one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews. The food is always fresh and flavorful and comes out hot and fast. Nice service too. I've ordered a good variety of dishes from their menu over the years and I've never been dissatisfied. Horrible Experience. I love Thai food, and I'm half thai, but this left a bad taste in my mouth. I ordered the Beef Salad and the beef was tough as hell. So I told the waitress and wanted chicken instead. She gives me attitude and snatches it from my hands. I believe in if you do an excellent job in customer service and fulfilling my needs, I will tip. But if you snatch my food and give me excuses without apologising then I wouldn't. So the waitress chases me outside of the restaurant all because i didn't give her a tip? I paid my bill in full and I felt she didn't do well so why should i tip? It's not the law. I had been to Thai Pot several times before but for whatever reason it had fallen off my radar and I hadn't been there in a year or so. I don't know if it has really improved since the last time I was there or if I just don't remember but, wow! Went there last night and picked up take out. Ordered Pad Thai and Chicken Praram. The servings are generous enough that one would have been enough for me, but I had the Savings Card so it was "Buy One Get One Free" (woohoo!) The Pad Thai has zero spice to it unless you ask for it- which was fine with me, but I may order it medium spicy next time. That's one thing that seems to vary between Thai restaurants- different takes on what mild, medium and hot is. For example at that place on Mendocino near Marie Callendar's, medium is barely edible- so hot! The noodles were fresh and they were generous with the chicken. Although I liked the pad thai, I LOVED the chicken praram. Easily the best I've ever had. Most other places I've been has the chicken swimming in peanut sauce over a bed of spinach. This one was lighter on the peanut sauce (which I was skeptical of at first) and there was not only spinach, but also carrots, broccoli, cabbage and asparagus! So good! And, really, just enough sauce. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. Most entrees average about $9 a piece and, again, servings are generous. Speaking of which- I have leftovers for lunch today. Yes! ONLY complaint: On the phone, the guy told me "15-20 minutes." I arrived in 8 minutes and brought a magazine thinking I'd rather wait for it and get it hot than run the risk of it sitting there and getting cold. I got there and the food was already ready- and sitting out! It was still hot, but it is a little of a pet peave- why say 15-20 minutes if it'll be ready in 5? read more

I hate to give this place a poor review because my parents love it, but I feel compelled to be honest. I have eaten here on at least ten occasions over the past few years. The service is adequate, although I have have felt what I think is irritation/impatience when I've asked questions about some of the menu items. On my most recent visit I ordered the green curry with chicken. I don't know how else to say this-- it smelled "off." Like, it wasn't quite rotten or turned, but something was not right in the dish. Although the dish was supposed to be a mix of veggies and chicken, at least 50% of the vegetables in my dish were large, bland chunks of bamboo shoots. The rest of the "vegetables" included two pieces of eggplant (that tasted un-ripe), two or three slivers of carrot, two green beans, and a tiny bit of basil. The curry itself was bland, even though I had requested spicy. In the past, I have tried their pumpkin curry on several occasions, which was about the same experience. Clearly something is falling through the cracks in the kitchen. Thai food should not come out of the kitchen smelling off. Vegetables should be fresh and used generously. And when customers ask for spicy, they should get spicy. I hope they address whatever the problem is at this place, because it's conveniently located to my parents' house, and has so much potential. read more

I have been here many times in the past and I just dont know why I go back. Convenience maybe. Today will be my last visit after spending $17 on flavorless pumpkin curry and a scoop of undercooked rice. The man who took my order assumed I was ordering the dinner entree instead of the lunch I had asked for. I did not have time for them to re-prepare my lunch so paid the exorbitant amount and left.... I thought maybe I'd have leftovers. Wrong. When I opened my package at home, the dinner size is exactly the same size as their lunch portion.... just twice as expensive. No flavor to the curry at all. The basil tasted chewy obviously very old. How they managed to heat the pumpkin to an insanely high heat while the rest of the curry is lukewarm is mind boggling as I would assume it would all be cooked together.... who knows with this place because they couldnt even cook the rice thoroughly. I didn't read the reviews before I ordered takeout from here and for once I'm glad that I didn't. We had a great experience. The host was very very friendly and helpful. Our food was done super fast! When we got home 20 minutes later it was still super hot. We ordered Panag curry and drunk noodle and both were soooo good!! Super flavorful. The veggies and meats tasted super fresh. I was really happy with my experience and will for sure be back. Perhaps they have made some changes since some of these bad reviews. I always want to see small businesses succeed. I don't think you should go there if you are looking for the authentic thai cuisine. Curry, Tomyum, Padthai are so horrible. With the taste we got i think their prices are too high, I'd go for shimp burrito in mexican cuisine instead! Surely nothing impressed us at all, besides it makes me feel ..we were fooled around by commercial, overated, sponser ads, Thai king decoration interior, with thai pop musical tracks. LOL.. Looking around not even one person who is Thai. With the Korean waitress who doesn't know any food in the menu at all, chef and the chinese owner. too much business commercial and overated with tons of Ads.So I wonder why they got the higher rate, prabably changed the chef/owner? or not a lot of Thai customers in this area... Well, I don't know why only know that this guy also the same owner as Sushi Tonsai which is pretty good but for here again? No way man! Cant complaint more than this, just realized that everyone has to be survived and not everyone likes the same thing. is this place under new ownership?? I'm a fairly regular customer and have never had anything like this happen. I almost never leave bad reviews but I just had the worst call in experience. I called in an order for 3 pork yellow curries and 1 tofu yellow curry. Husband went to pick it up and was given 3 basil curries and 1 tofu yellow curry. He questioned it because we have never ordered basil before and the person helping him told him that's what I ordered. He questioned it again and she told to call me and ask why I ordered that- so he called me and of course I said no that wasn't right and she grabbed the phone from him. She asked me what I ordered and I told her. She said I was wrong and I'd ordered basil. I told her there was some misunderstanding because I wouldn't order that as we've never even eaten that and this is our regular order. This went on for another minute or so. She would not let it go. She insisted that's what I'd ordered. I just said okay must have been a misunderstanding. She snapped at me that we'd have to wait while she made the new order and I said that was fine. Then she showed my husband that she'd written down -basil and he said he understood that's what she thought I said but we didn't want that. When the correct order was ready and she asked him to pay, she told him he should tip extra because they had to remake an order because I had ordered the wrong thing! Ordered takeout which came very fast and delivery man was friendly, but the food was not good. We ordered tofu and veggies with sweet and sour sauce, tofu and veggies with peanut sauce, clear noodle vegetable soup, and white rice. The sweet and sour and peanut sauce dishes were pretty tasteless. The soup just tasted like water that cabbage had been boiled in. None of the veggies tasted very fresh. The rice was very dry and old tasting, like it had been sitting out for days. I've never had rice like this from a restaurant before. This was not inexpensive either. We were very disappointed and will not order from here again even though it was convenient to order and pay online. read more

The food here is really amazing. I love the fact that Mom is in the back crating all of the delicious flavors of the Thailand region. Well the American version of it anyway. The yellow curry is to die for as well as the Thai salad. Everything on the menu is super legit. I was here with my husband 6 or 7 years ago and at that time found the food and service mediocre. I was pleasantly surprised to have a very good experience on a recent return visit. I ordered ginger chicken--a fantastic dish with a nice "bite" from the ginger and very fresh ingredients. The chicken was cut into short, thin strips rather than cubes. Whether because of that cut or in spite of it, the chicken was delicious and not overcooked. The white steamed rice that we ordered was perfectly cooked and unusually tasty. (I do not often think of plain rice as "tasty," but this definitely was.) My dining companions also enjoyed their main dishes. The restaurant has a pleasing decor and is very clean. Staff were attentive, patient with our individual special requests (such as gluten free) and checked our table frequently but not obtrusively for water refills. We will be back. 4 stars, plus one additional star for big improvement over previous visit! read more

I would go for a smooth 3.5 if possible. Quick little break down: Service, fine sure whatever, facilities yeah yeah sure, food, legit decent tasty. Good flavors, not strong enough in my opinion but good, tasty and tender meats, peanut sauce was the boss (I have a secret love affair with this stuff no matter) and lots of garlic. Don't get the sticky rice, not a great taste, comes in a plastic baggy and doesn't do much for the overall meal. We go to this restaurant for convenience only. It seems they just can't get an order right anymore. We got pineapple fried rice, and it had tomatoes substituted for the pineapple. The tom kha soup, my favorite elsewhere, is turning into mushroom soup and lacks many of the aromatic flavors that make this soup special. I ordered prik khing last night and got a sauteed vegetable dish that had no curry and no green beans at all. Even their chicken satay tastes like they missed the chicken with any spices... just bland chicken on a skewer. I also stopped ordering their pumpkin curry. It tasted like someone accidentally dumped a container of salt in it... and they still served it!!!! The flavors which draw me to Thai food in general are gone from this restaurant. It's seen much better days and I won't go back again. They should close. Maybe then a decent restaurant will pop up. The Sebastopol restaurant seems like a different one altogether. read more

Full disclosure -- I have a lengthy & annoying order I make every time I go here. The staff, however, is very nice & acts like it's no big deal. Solid, inexpensive. Got the fried won tons with cheese and the regular standby, Pad Thai with chicken. The chicken was good, sauce was a little different than I'm used to, but still a plate-cleaning experience. Service was cordial and expedient; not sure why people give this place a bad time (entitlement issues, possibly?) but these folks seem to do a good job. Atmosphere is decent, a little bright.
