I have been seeing Dr. Minh Thai for many years since he opened up the office in Fourth Street downtown San Jose. Dr. Minh Thai is very personable and friendly. His knowledge and explanation makes me feel at ease. He was very cordial and patiently listened to all that I had to say. All his staff are also very friendly, competent and knowledgeable.  He also employs the latest technology and genuinely cares about provide highest quality care to his patients.  The attitude of the entire office really takes the edge off of what can be a very uncomfortable experience. I've referred all my friends and coworkers to his office and they still visit his office since then. My attitude towards Dr. Minh Thai is transformed thanks to my experience here in the past years. Dr Minh was our family doctor over 30 years ago. To this date, our family still talked about him sometimes. As most modern doctors are caring with doctor Mình we feel as if your own son, brother taking care of you. Today I am looking for a family doctor for my family, doctor Minh crossed my mind. This is when I regretted that my ex does most of my English classes work, otherwise I could express my feelings about going to that doctor office better. He is about in his late 60s or early 70s right now. What do you expect out of a person in that age! Age catch up to everyone even doctor. I know everyone has there own opinions but ever since I was a teen till my adult years, I've been a pretty loyal patient because Dr. Thai Q. Minh is very understanding and he takes the time to really hear and understand his patient illness and concerns. He's very passionate about his job and it shows.. Every time I make my visit to the doctors office I am greeted by his assistants with warm welcoming. At first when my mom switched me over to this doctor. I didn't seem to care much because I was so young and as I got older I realized like wow my doctor is pretty awesome, he explains everything throughly he knows his patients well for those who been going to him. Dr Thai, Quang Minh is the best family doctor in San Jose Bay Area. He is take care of every patient carefully by his sweet heart. He is knowledgeable doctor. He is cool, nice and sweet doctor. He does everything as fast as he can for you. When I needed my health documents, I called into the office. About a day, he sent it or call me to come to get it. I had Dr. Minh as my family doctor for 5+ years. His treatment is OK but the wait was very very very long. I had to wait for 3-4 hours in order to have only 10 minutes with him so I wasted half day of my work on every 3 months appointment. Two years ago, I transferred to a doctor nearby my company and it is more convenience because it is 10 minutes drive from Mt. View and only 15 minutes wait. read more

He's a nice guy but he seems to be in his own little world. I'm trying to get some medical papers done for school and already it took me 3 appointments and the process is still not complete. I have to paid each time for the same F*cking issue (excuse my french) but this is COSTLY. If only he would read the School handout and listen to my explanation then everything could have been done with the 1st visit. Is this his way to increase his income??? I don't know how I could break it down to him of what the school needs. It's written on the sheet of paper in black & white. He knew that I was not happy with the 3rd time around. His attempt to comfort me was "Oh, don't worry. We'll get it done. Don't worry." His staff is not that helpful either. They roll their eyes or give you dirty looks if you ask too many questions! Dr. Minh is a nice guy! I've known him since I was younger and even though his office is out of the way from Cupertino, it's worth the drive. He is accomodating and humorous. I enjoy seeing him because he's always talkative and funny. He and my dad were also undergraduates/friends together in college so we consider him a family acquaintance. His office is located next to a pharmacy which I believe his sister or someone related to him owns so that kills 2 birds with 1 stone! I just walk on over to pick up my prescription. I'm not sure how many non-Vietnamese patients he has but he's a great family doctor even if you're not Vietnamese :) Oh yea he went to UCSF for medical school for those who are curious. read more

I like how patient he is and always takes his time listening rather than rushing through the appointments. Also a big plus that he speaks English well! My entire family have been Dr Thai patients for many years. He's a good doctor and pay attention to his patients.

This doc receives no star from me. First of all, he was sick on the day that he saw me and I ended up with a cold which I got from him because he was blowing his nose few times and didn't wash his hand but then touched my face. Secondly, the first thing that he asked when he saw me was "When did you come to America?" that had nothing to do with my visit with him on that day. I walked out his exam room in a hurry to the restroom to disinfect myself from his germs. I highly DO NOT recommend this doc to any one who wants to stay healthy. read more

I have been with Dr. Minh since I was in high school. Dr. Minh sometime gets very busy so he might seem tired and not as communicative with his patient, but he really cares deep down. He is one of the many doctors who accept medical and actually treats his patients the same as any other doctor who does not accept medical, because it pays little to the doctor. My parent has been with him for ages also. He has treated my mother with care and referred her to a surgeon in Stanford Hospital, who operated a well performed, safe surgery for my mom's thyroid before it becomes cancerous. Due to medical limitation, I was not able to have a lot of options to have neuro medical doctor and surgeon to perform my cervical fusion surgery. However, Dr. Minh had helped referred me to the right doctors, and I was saved to not be paralyzed half of my body. He made sure and asked me several time to make sure I did not have to have surgery for my own good, even though I insisted there was something wrong with my numbness. It seemed like he does not care or concern but he does, because as a doctor he wanted to be precise before referring to another specialist. He has a lot of patients and elders who are covered by Medical and so he is always busy and we had to wait for a while, but it is worth it because other doctors who accepts medical do not treat their patient with the same charismatic and understanding. He is old and so he does get tired, and doctor has kid and he is married now. I have been with him for ages, and I truly knew who he is. My parent told me he had also volunteer for a while to help poor, performing his duty as an MD in country like Vietnam to help those who couldn't afford to pay for medical aid. I believe people misunderstand his goodness, even myself once was too. I had an incident I thought I had a tumor and I was cancerous, or thought I had STD or some unknown disease and so I kept insisting to have an operation and to get my self transferred to another specialist. Dr. Minh became upset and told me to go to another doctor if I don't trust him. However I thought over, out of all those years he had done for my family and myself since I was a child. He had prescribed the right medication and helped my Grandma and my mother with the right diabetes' prescription, and medicated and directed my father to sustain and to subdue his high blood pressure, I realized Dr. Minh was hurt that I did not trust him, not because he did not want to help me nor wanted m y presence. This doctor has moral, and value, and I truly for those who misunderstand, and I am sorry if you had experience on your visit. Yes they do get busy, and made us wait because they are overloaded and he might tell you is okay unless there is something big he suspected. He is still a human, and who does not make mistake and especially for doctor. I do admit the clerk was not nice, or professional at times, but they have so many Vietnamese patients, and elders whom they really helped to interpret, to explain in ways their patient understand to medicate themselves in their own dialect, so i think the pressure fueled and caused a lot of stress for them. Hence, I also know the front staff for a long time. They were always good to me and my family so I will excuse them for making me wait for almost an hour when it was packed with people and when they tried to slipped and replaced me with another missed appointment from another patient. I will also sympathize and excuse one of the staffs who isn't nice and soft spoken at time. Hey, this is a stress environment and he is doing his best for a lot of bilingual patient. This man tries his best and so all of us. We are all human! I know for sure he is not a money hungry doctor. He is kind deep down, and is very caring. I give the man respect and calls him uncle. During this COVID-19 pandemic, getting sick is not a pleasure. It's hard to get an appointment with symptoms alike a flu. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Minh. I checked the reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. I called ahead and was informed it would be ok to visit Dr. Minh in person. I felt incredibly lucky and impressed by the professionalism and expertise from start to finish. I admired Dr. Minh's passionate about identifying the root cause. I don't want to tell what treatments I had been received from Dr. Minh (since everyone might have had a different treatment depends on your health conditions) but I'm well and healthy now. I thank my friend for referring me to Dr. Minh. I feel very fortunate to be a patient of Dr. Minh, therefore I put down here a few words to say thank you. read more

As someone who's going to school to join a healthcare profession, I go to Dr. Thai's office a lot for my annual screening updates, regular check ups, and even school advice. He's a pretty personable physician, and he knows his stuff, which are some pretty important qualifications for a doctor. Some of the other reviewers here are going to point out long wait times, or maybe some less than friendly assistants, but I've been in enough doctor's offices and worked at enough pharmacies and hospitals to know that's going to be a normal thing, and it's often out of the doctor's hands. You don't always see what goes on on the other side, and let me tell you, it's always hectic, and I'd rather he be thorough with the patients than quickly processing through them. I've been going to him for years, and yeah they're going to be busy days. I used to get angry at the waits when I was a little kid, and even as an adult no one really likes waiting haha, but getting to see more of healthcare from the other side, I'm pretty glad I stuck with Dr. Thai. read more

This guy's got to be the most unprofessional doctor I've run across. My wife and I were looking for a USCIS approved civil surgeon and saw his name on the list. So we went there and had him do all the tests required in the USCIS form, including the TB skin test. After the results came back, everything checked out OK, except for the skin test. Positive skin test is very normal for an Asian and I'm quite certain he would know that as well. Anyways, he asked my wife to do a lung x-ray. The results of x-ray showed normal. After that he offered us to do the vaccinations required by USCIS (MMR and Td). He said the total would be $230. We thought it was rather expensive, so we said we will reconsider it. No problem, so he gave us the sealed envelope for us to give to the INS. Thanks to the internet, we found out that we can get the vaccinations at the county clinic for much less. We ended up paying $65 for both, which is quite a savings compared to $230. Great, so everything was done. We filed our applications and just waited for the interview application. During the interview, to our horror, the officer saw the letter from the doctor saying that my wife had positive tuberculosis. It did not mention about the normal results from the x-ray! Even our attorney was surprised. Shouldn't my wife be treated if she was TB positive, or at the very least be informed about it? Needless to say, a month after the interview, we received a letter for an RFE (Request for Evidence) for proof that my wife has undergone treatment for the TB. We got the letter during the Christmas break, and had 30 days to respond. Luckily, we were able to find another USCIS approved civil surgeon and take care of this before the deadline. If this quack had screwed up our application, I definitely would consider filing a complaint or even a lawsuit. read more

Here is the typical routine (actually EVERY SINGLE ROUTINE) Say your appointment is at 3:45. You get there at 3:45. He doesn't come help you until 4:30. Go in. He makes you sit on the exam table. Ask you to breathe in and out. Done. This place is so unprofessional. No doctor should make you wait 45 minutes for an exam check up that would only last for less than 5 minutes. He does not do a great job. My mom went in because she wasn't feeling well and every time we go in for a checkup, he always says, "Oh you're fine...it's just old age." So we switched doctors and turns out, if my mom hadn't swapped doctors, her illness could have been a lot worse.. (Hepatitis C!!!) Luckily we switched in time. read more

Bad experience with this doctor. He "just" forgot to give me a TB shot that was required to finish my medical paperwork. So then I came for the second appointment with him (after spending a lot of time doing tests in lab) I found out that my paperwork could still not be finalized because "he forgot.." The paperwork was urgent to send out. But theTB skin test should take a few more days to get the result. They hardly apologized (which I found to be not very uncommon in that community, though.) So I decided not to go on with him, requested a refund (which they did), and went to a nearby doctor's office, where I got everything done well enough. read more

Dr Thai is friendly, takes good cares of his patients. I've been coming here since 3 years ago. I feel comfortable to discuss with him about any medical problems. Scheduling appt is often easy. In urgent situations, appt can be scheduled within 1-2 days. The office staffs are nice, and easy to communicate with. The office are clean and organize, has their own parking lot. Waiting time is about 20 min or less at each visit. If you're currently looking for a primary care physician, you'll be stress-free to know your health is in good hands. read more

I had a pleasant experience here last week when I came in for a check up. I haven't had a check up in a long time with a family physician so I wasn't too sure with the process but the women working in the office was really nice and told me exactly what to do and the paperwork process. After just waiting less than 10 minutes, I was called to the back to the doctor's office to do a regular blood pressure test, height and weight check. Doctor Minh was very patient and kind when he gave me a check up and we even had a little chit chat about school and etc. I thought it was kind of cool to be able to be so comfortable talking to a doctor about college and life. So far I really had a good experience with this doctor, and am definitely coming back for my next check up. read more

He takes the time to listen, examine your condition, and prescibe accurate medication that will help you get well. He really care about his patient and take pride in his practice. I called about a month ago to see if they were accepting new patients lady on the phone checked with the Dr and said yeah they are. So we booked an appointment to be seen yesterday June 7th for my kids. Showed up early enough so we can fill out paperwork and get them registered in there system. We barely sat down to begin filling out paperwork when she came back out saying oh I'm sorry but Dr Thai is not accepting children at this time due to the hospital where my son got his vaccinations done at or something like that I'm already getting the vibe we weren't feeling welcomed here. By the looks of all the yelp reviews it's clear to me he only accepts ASIAN patients only. If only they were clear with me from the get I wouldn't have any problems and looked somewhere else but I wasted my time coming here and waiting for a stupid appointment for my kids that never happened. This guy is awful. If I could rate zero stars, I really would. Completely and utterly rude; the only reason I didn't transfer was because he was in a convenient place and had all of my records. Every time I come throughout the years, he makes us wait half an hour to an hour after my scheduled time. He's rude to children when their parents aren't in there, and let me tell you about my most recent "appointment" today. My appointment was at 2:30, and today we really weren't about to wait. We were hoping to just wait ten minutes, but then we overheard the lady at the counter tell another patient that he wasn't in. Like what? My appointment is at 2:30 and I'm present, and you're not going to tell me he's not in? After that my mom went up to question the lady if the doctor really wasn't going to take us in until 3, and she said we haven't even waited that long. Like??? My appointment is a 2:30, I expect to be in approximately at that time. My mom, after years, finally told the lady that it's not okay to schedule is a time to not even have us in, and we left. The lady follows us out and tells us she'll take our heights and weights and whatnot while we wait, which was obviously her way of stalling so we wouldn't be so upset. So we agreed to come back because we needed a yearly check up, and while we got our basic stuff done (height, hearing, weight, sight, everything physical), he came out from his office, AND I saw another lady sitting in another room waiting for him. How long was this guy going to make me wait? If you know you won't be able to take us on on time why would you tell us to come in 2:30. Anyways, he just stares at my sister and I and scribbles stuff down on paper to get our blood done, but I'm pretty sure he just wrote it to get us to leave. (Not to mention this is place is a mess, they have a cabinet filled with unfiled papers and empty vials. I'm supposed to trust this man to inject medication in me but how do you trust someone who can't even dispose of vials properly?) When he didn't think I could hear, he asked the lady why we were in already, and she replied that my mom didn't want to wait. He then gave her papers (didn't check my heartbeat, didn't check ANYTHING about the wellbeing of me or my sister), and told her to tell my mom that next time if we aren't going to wait we shouldn't come at all, and told me he was done with me. Furious, I left with just saying "kay" (very close to confronting him and calling him out, but I'm something he's not, POLITE), because is this guy a joke? He didn't DO anything and he's going to say he's done? This isn't even the first time I've seen him be unprofessional. For example, my sister recalled a time he was in a call during our appointment and was taking a personal family call. Do that on your own time, we pay for this. He's been rude to my sister and I when no guardian is present multiple occasions. I have PLENTY of unpleasant experiences from this man and PLENTY of things to say to him. We will not be coming back and are switching because I don't have the time to deal with people who waste my time and are ridiculously uncourteous to their patients. We've excused his behaviour many times but today was the last straw. And by the looks of other reviews, he's biased among his patients. I saw a review saying he does blood tests, yet he makes me find another place to get my blood done. If you're considering this guy to be your doctor, I say pick a different person unless you want horrible service and awful punctuality. read more

Called in the morning, somebody put me on hold right away, about 8 minutes later some male spoke to me in Korean which I do not understand at all. A lot of doctors office have unprofessional receptionists answer the phone, this is one of them. Personally I do not recommend this place.
