What a hidden gem! We discovered this little hole in the wall place after asking a Dallas friend where we could find the best Thai food. Service was excellent, the place was spotlessly clean, and the food was phenomenal. I especially appreciated the owner checking with us during the meal to make sure all was well. I ordered the Spicy Thai Basil with chicken after sharing an order of spring rolls as an appetizer. My husband ordered the Mango Chicken. I loved mine more than his, but he preferred his over mine. We both agreed the quantity and quality of both dishes was great. This place is BYOB, so bring a bottle of wine. They offered wine glasses and a cork screw. Absolutely love the pineapple fried rice with chicken. Service is fast and friendly. We also had the chicken pad Thai, the lemon grass chicken, dumplings and the mini fried egg rolls. All very good. I would recommend ordering the family package, you get a variety of food. read more

Picked up some food after a movie. First time here. Surprised that they didn't serve beef or pork. Food was ok. My first entree was Pad Thai was sweeter than what get back home. First and probably last time coming here. I was craving some good Thai food and this place was a disappointment. The food was just okay, not the best. As soon as you walk in, it smells a little bit like a bathroom, but I still ignored that thinking the food might be really good but it didn't meet up to expectations. The service is great though, staff is very friendly and they want to make sure you enjoy your food. I do love some good Thai food. This place has always been so accommodating for us. For the past 12 years-just like a tradition, my boyfriend has his birthday here. They accept reservations which is convenient, and they have been BYOB. This last spring when we went for birthday celebrations, they did inform us that they were going to start selling alcohol soon. Had an early dinner with a friend who is a regular here. The service was fantastic, the waitstaff is all really sweet. We had thai tea, nice creamy and sweet. Spring rolls, wrapper was just right, not too sticky or dried out and I like their peanut sauce, a little kick to it. I had the chan poo which is a medium size rice noodle with jalapeno and veggies. Thai Soon is my go to restaurant if I'm feeling like eating Thai food. I honestly only order the Pad Thai every time I go. My other friends have tried the curry and such and they agree that it's really good! I'm not a curry eater myself unfortunately. This place is really tiny so if you have a big party, make sure to either get there early to secure your tables or eat later when the traffic inside isn't as bad. For this visit, my friends (6 people total) went around 8:30 pm and there was already another large party but enough room for us. A few of the things I love about Thai Soon: -quick service -customizability (you get to choose what kind of meat you want on your dish) -large proportions I was going to give Thai Soon 4 stars, but seeing as I keep coming back here (I've gone maybe about 4 or 5 times) they deserve a 5. Another great dining experience at Thai Soon. Everything is good. We started with a large Tom Kha soup for the table. Was great: enough for 4-5 bowls. My entree was the chicken red curry. I was full from soup before it even arrived, but still ate some. Perfectly spiced, and abundantly portioned What really struck me this visit was the knowledge of our waitress. The food here is excellent. Some of the top Thai food I have had anywhere. All the spices are there. Just delicious. What's missing is ambiance. It's a strip center location and looks quite generic inside. And if you sit by the door on a hot or cold day expect to be hot or cold a lot. Service is average. We really were not checked on after the food arrived until he brought the bill. My son paid with a debit card before he walked away, and upon return he left the statement with a pen that did not work. He went to the back and never came out. I had to go behind the counter to get a pen to finish the payment. I'm giving 4 stars because the food is good. Not 5 because Service and ambiance need improvement. read more

I'm writing this review on their lunch buffet only. What is going on with that deep fried fish?! It's super addicting, crispy, spicy and so flavorful. I was very excited to find out about Thai Soon's buffet because I don't know any Thai buffet places yet in the Dallas/ Richardson area. I got lucky when I stumbled on the buffet untouched and it was so colorful, so I had to take a picture I'll post here. FYI, the chef does seem to rotate dishes but the fried fish is almost always there as well as the Pad Kee Mao, drunken noodles. There is always a type of fried rice, a curry dish, vegetarian options, and you can help yourself to some steamed rice with your meal. The only thing I'm curious about is their Tom Kha coconut soup; is it made with real coconut? The reason I ask is because their soup lacks consistency, sometimes it tastes a bit like the coconut is starting to ferment, which I don't mind at all, but just makes me wonder. read more

I like Thai Soon. This was my go to place for thai food when I lived in the area since noodle wave was always busy. And my love and I happened to be on that side of town and decided to eat here. We ordered the fried shrimp appetizer. It was good but I've had better. However I just wish they weren't all stuck together. Also I wish there was paper underneath to soak up all the oil. It was quite greasy so that filled is up. It wasn't just shrimp. It also has broccoli, sweet potatoes, and zucchini. I did enjoy the sauce it came with. The shrimp was also fresh to me. I was please to find that they did de-vain their shrimp. I ordered the pad see ew. Which I loved! It was so good! I asked for it dry, due to other restaurants drowning their stir fry in sauce. That's not stir fry then! I ordered the chicken and shrimp. Chicken was a bit chewy. My boyfriend got the pad Thai. It was good but the spiciness wasn't consistent. He asked for a 4. And he said it was a 2. Otherwise it was good. Also we noticed the tablecloths from other tables was clearly dirty with sauce drippings. But we will be back. It took a while for our food. I was headed to a different Thai place but it was closed on Monday. Grrr, GPS sent me here around the corner. It was 5pm rush hour and there wasn't a soul in the place, which was fine, but a lot of to-go orders coming in and out, which for such a tiny restaurant can be a little annoying. I ordered the Corn Patties for an appetizer and the Tofu Green Curry for my entree. The corn patties were really good, not heavy at all. The curry was really good as well, but I was half way through my meal when I started chewing on a piece of chicken in my tofu dish. The waitress noticed my distress and came walking towards me as I was pulling food out of my mouth. At this point, I was done. When you have a sign on your door that says VEGETARIAN people believe it. Non-meat eaters don't want to find meat in their non-meat dishes. Sorry but we don't. Stopped by here one day on the recommendation of a friend. We placed an order via online and walked in for take out. For the price the food was amazing. I couldn't even finish it (Thai Soon w Tofu/White Rice on the side), so I had some leftovers. The vegetables were grilled and the sauce was just enough to give it some flavor. The waiter was so nice and friendly but they were terribly understaffed as their was one waiter with about 10 tables. In addition, the place felt overly cramped. It seemed as if they tried to fit as much people as they can into this tiny restaurant. I ordered the Thai basil chicken and my mother ordered a pad thai. The food took a little longer than. Most places but we didn't mind the wait. As I took the first bite, I was shocked st how overly salty the dish was. I could not taste anything except salt. It felt as if I was eating salt disguised as chicken and veggies. My mom felt the same way too about her pad thai. (She stole some of my rice to counteract the saltiness.) We had very high hopes for this small restaurant as we like to support small businesses. We hope it was just a bad day for them and they spilled a bottle of soy sauce on our dishes haha. This was my first time visiting Thai soon. My initial thoughts were that this was small, cozy location with clean tables and a friendly waitstaff. We were greeted quickly and the service was very good throughout. The menu offers a wide range of Thai specialties plus a few other Asian dishes as well. We started with the Kum Kha, a delicious soup of cabbage, lemon grass, and a few other vegetables in a delicious coconut and lime infused broth. My dining companion and I then shared small plates of calamari and fried dumplings. The calamari had a distinctive Asian flair- the squid sliced lengthwise and fried in a tempura style batter, served with a tangy chile sauce. Very good. The dumplings were just a bit dry and overlooked, though they tasted pretty good. I think I'd get them steamed next time. I tried the Pad Thai as my main course, a healthy amount of rice cellophane noodles, stir fried in a tasty sauce with vegetables and chicken and topped with ground peanuts. The chicken breast in the dish was a bit sparse and a little dry, but overall the dish was solid. Of the Thai places I've tried in the DFW area, this is one of the better ones. The freshness; quality, and flavors of the dishes were on point and the service was also very good. I will probably be back, though I might try a few other dishes. read more
