This is the first Thai restaurant in the Bel Air/Aberdeen area. The service is mediocre; we went for lunch on a Friday as a group of four, and one of my friend's dishes wasn't ordered by the waitress, and he ended up having to wait another 15 minutes for his meal after the rest of the table received theirs. I ordered the red curry lunch special at a spiciness of 1 (out of 3). The food was pretty good and the portion size was average for a Thai restaurant. Refills on fountain drinks aren't free and this is not mentioned anywhere on the menu nor was it disclosed to us by the server. They should focus on their service in order to keep customers coming. read more

Honestly, I think I got too excited when I heard there was a good Thai place in Bel Air. Although I ordered carry-out, the interior of the restaurant was very nice. The food varied greatly, but I would probably describe it as mediocre. The best we tried was the mango shrimp salad which was spicy and quite tasty. The basil seafood soup had a lot of different seafood in it, and the broth had a good flavor. The red curry was so so, I've had much better curry before. What I would advise against is the pad thai--very little sauce or carrots and other toppings and not much flavor (maybe this was just because it was take out? idk). I always thought that a Thai restaurant has to do pad thai well, if nothing else. Also the summer rolls that everyone raves about in the other reviews are just rice noodles, a few carrot slivers, and some sad lettuce, pretty bland and not worth the money. All of the food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. Chicken Pad Thai is one of my favorite dishes and theirs was the best I've had! Really good Thai food. Not one of the best I've tasted but our go to place in the area. This is our go to place here. We usually get our order "to go" but dine in options are food as well. Wide selection of Thai noodles and entrees. Friendly people and large dining area. My only gripe is the inconsistency in spicy level of food. Usually the spicy level of food in Thai restaurant is in levels from 1-5 or 1-10. I usually go for something in the middle and my husband usually orders something spicier. Well, depending on the day, my dish can be extremely spicy or not spicy at all even if I assign the same number each time. What's worse is that even on the same order, my order will be "5" spicy level and my husband will order "7" but mine will be spicier than his. read more

Delicious, absolutely amazing. I had the Red Curry with pork and my boyfriend had the Pad Thai with Pork and a side of sticky rice. We ordered the jumbo Thai Iced Tea, the one made with half and half. Every single thing we ate was fantastic! The place was clean, bright and open. There were a few tables filled at 7:30 on a Saturday night but the carry-out was moving at a brisk pace. The servers were friendly knowledgeable and attentive. My meal was under $14 and very filling. His was under $13 and we had leftovers (which I will steal from him and eat for lunch today). It was so good that when I got home I immediately called up my sister and told her she has to go. Definitely a little late on this review, but this place is great. The service is awesome and we were seated pretty quick. I got the drunken noodles and seasonal soft shell crab. The food came out pretty quick and the crab was bomb. My noodles did come out cold though and that's mainly why I rated 4 stars instead of 5 since the restaurant was empty when I visited. I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu for carry out when I came here. The drunken noodles were delicious! I was able to pick up my order very quickly as well. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the portion. I feel the portion size is much smaller than other Thai restaurants I've been to. Don't let the strip mall location fool you, this place has great food. The servers are friendly. The cooks can adjust the spice level to your liking. A 4 made my head sweat a little. Did I say it was good? Spice means more than heat - it means a lot of flavor when done right and this place does it right. I came with vegetarians and people who could take different spice levels. Today was the first time I'd tried out Thai Spice. My mom and I aren't holiday people, and found ourselves without anything to eat. Thai Spice was open, and we decided to try it out. Mom got the yellow curry with chicken, and I got the green curry with tofu. AMAZING. She said hers was so good, whenever we go out to eat together from now on, we're going to Thai Spice. I echo the sentiment. The green curry (level three spicy), had the perfect amount of heat. It was creamy, filling, and delicious. This weekend's last minute visit to Thai Spice (Bel Air location) was, actually, the second visit my partner and I have made in about 3 months. We had intended to dine in but, ultimately decided to get take-out instead. The restaurant seemed to be short-staffed and short of patrons when we arrived during the early evening hours. We were attended by this guy, later determined to be named "Kevin" (despite never having introduced himself nor wearing any noticeable name tag). Noticeably with a blank and, rather disinterested facial expression, he soon left the ordering area only to return to get our cash payment (well before the order was even ready!) After getting back the change, partner and I stepped outdoors to wait until the order was ready. At that time, my partner then noticed that $10 was missing from the change received and went back into the place to address it with "Kevin". As it turns out, Kevin informed that he thought [partner] was providing him with a TIP! (For those unaware, let it be known that, for practical purposes in the U.S., it is not customary/required to tip for TAKEOUT orders AND, in this case, the word "TIP" wasn't even mentioned nor offered during the transaction!) Kindly, my partner caved in--told him to just keep it, and returned outdoors. Minutes, thereafter, I noticed "Kevin" quickly leaving the premises, through the front door, to get into a car. After brief discussion, partner and I decided to inform the supervisor about our experience with this dude, so as to make him/her aware of the inappropriate transaction that took place and of his most blatant assumption. Upon speaking with the only female staff member seen present (whom, by the way, confirmed that a supervisor was NOT available) and explaining to her what had occurred, she did not hesitate to appear rather disengaged, and was more distracted and attentive to the phones ringing behind the counter. Not even an offering of follow-through was stated. So, I share this story, simply, to educate the local community on the thieving shenanigans played by this one staff member, in hope that customers would, diligently, pay more attention when doing business at this restaurant site. This particular location has unfortunately seen quite significant turnover. I really hope that this restaurant stays here. This is a legitimate and authentic Thai restaurant. The food is fantastic and the spice is real. I must warn you that the spice level goes up to five. If you do not like extremely spicy food you should not get above a three. I really enjoyed almost everything I got here. I really hope that people come and enjoy the food so that my favorite Thai restaurant in Harford County stays here. Subpar, overpriced Thai food that is questionably authentic. The curry lacks flavor and substance, the Thai market soup tastes like they just open a can of beef broth and dump noodles in it, and the Drunken Noodle is a soggy mess of vegetables and noodles. Ironically, the only thing worth getting here is the Pho (which is not a Thai dish). Since there is no other place in the Bel Air area that has Pho, you're sort of left with this as your only option. Unfortunately this place recently lost my business while trying to place an order. I attempted to call and place an order for lunch (at a little after 12pm) and was placed on hold - which is fine, I was glad to see they are staying busy. The last place to occupy this space was a Vietnamese restaurant and they went out quickly. So after coming back to take my order, I placed an order for two Pho and an order of summer rolls. He read the total to me and I said "Oh, is that the dinner price?" His response is what lost me. He responded back in a heavily sarcastic, snarky tone that was full of attitude and said "you want lunch, you gotta say you want lunch...." Now had he simply said, "oh you didn't specify you wanted lunch, let me get you a new total", that would've been fine. However, the attitude in his tone and his comments immediately put me at a level of annoyance. I was trying to simply order lunch, not debate someone. I responded back that I assumed since it is lunch time, my order would be for lunch and was going to continue to follow through with the order. He then began to lecture me that I shouldn't assume things and some people want dinner for lunch. Needless to say as he was trying to lecture me on how I shouldn't assume and telling me what I did wrong, I told him to cancel my order and terminated the call. After collecting myself and recovering from the bafflement, I decided to call back and speak to a manager. My wife and I order from here a lot, usually around once a week, so I wanted to somehow justify ever ordering from here again. When I called back, the same gentleman (using the term as loosely as possible here) answered. I asked to speak to a manager and he said he was the manager. Whether or not he actually was, I don't know, but when I asked to speak to someone else, he told me no one else was there I could speak to. So I let him know that I didn't appreciate the way he spoke to me while ordering my food and he really shouldn't treat customers like that, especially when they're trying to give you business. He responded back, letting me know again, that it was my fault that I didn't specify lunch and I shouldn't assume. I let him know, again, that it was how he said what he did and how I was being treated that was the problem and not the price mix up. I asked him if he understood what I was telling him about treating customers and he said "I guess not", in another tone loaded with sarcasm. I tried to explain it to him but I only heard little chuckles and "ok...." so I gave up trying. He clearly did not want to take a customer's complaint about how they were treated seriously. I've previously had good experiences ordering food from here (how can you mess up a phone order), but the guy's continued attitude and complete refusal to apologize for not treating the customer with respect ensured I will never order from this restaurant again. I'm usually not one to have issues with restaurant staff or hold certain things against the entire establishment, but I can't forgive this one. My family owns and operates a restaurant and if we ever treated customers this way, our doors would be closed very fast. Best of luck Thai Spice. I recommend you hire a new manager. read more

This place was amazing. The service was friendly and prompt, the food was really fresh and tasty, the atmosphere was trendy and cool with good music, and the restaurant was very clean. We started with the chicken spring rolls which were good and came with a yummy dipping sauce. I had the Thai beef fried rice, which was the best I've had at any Thai place across the Tri-state area. My fiancé had the Panang Curry Chicken, which was very good. Our server recommended the fried banana for dessert - it was served with fresh berries, ice cream and carmel sauce - SO GOOD! The portions were generously sized and the prices were very reasonable. We essentially had a three course meal plus drinks for under $40. My husband and I recently visited this area and decided to try this place. We weren't expecting much since it was a small restaurant inside a strip mall and we were their only customers. We were first impressed by the art painted on the wall. The restaurant looked very clean, well decorated, and a waitress greeted us right away. We started with their spring roll and my husband got a soup (he doesn't remember the name of it). Both were delicious. For our main dishes, I got the Pad See Eew (spelling?) with chicken and my husband got the crab fried rice. Both were AMAZING! I usually get the same dish at Tara Thai, but this was better. The seasonings/spices used made it much more flavorful! All of the food we had here tasted fresh and well cooked. As far as the service, we only interacted with one waitress and she was pretty friendly. However, they weren't busy when we came in and we had no issues while there. So I basically had to pay the meal price for a lunch special because there was no difference in the amount of food. This was confirmed by others patron there, the few present. I have been waiting for a Thai place in Harford county for so long! I'm so very happy that we finally have one! I only tried one item as I wasn't very hungry, but I was eager to try the place! I'm hoping that my first order there was just an 'off-night' or because it was within week one of being open. My expectations may have been set to high. I tend to judge a Thai place on their Thom Kha, as its my favorite, and typically how I'll start a meal. The Thom Kha was lacking...something. I added a bit of chiles and some cilantro, and that made it perfect! I will be back to try more- I'm really looking forward to some panang curry and yellow curry. We LOVE THIS PLACE. The food is always good. It's hot when you order carry out and always correct. If you ask for something customized they may take a second to understand your request but have always obliged.
