Whenever I get regular spicy at a Thai place I normally expect to be hit with a kick of spice that hits the tongue. Except here everything was just so sweet it made me somewhat nauseous. Most of the soup dishes had similar based of noodles, protein and herbs. Unless you enjoy overly sweet dishes this wasn't for me as I'd prefer a spicy yet savory kick in my Thai dishes with a slight sweetness. It shouldn't be overpowering. Papaya salad reg spice was sweet. No kick whatsoever. Just papaya shaving, some iceberg lettuce at the bottom and some halved grape tomatoes. Khao soi noodle soup a sweet curry broth. A bit too sweet. Also got it with a tempura chicken but it was mostly fried wonton skin and barely any chicken. Chicken was also dry and hard. Tom yum noodle soup A creamy yet spicy "tom yum" broth. It has somewhat of a kick but for regular spice level it was still too sweet. Even with all the red pepper flakes. It was also missing the lemon grass scent in most tom yum soups I'm used to. Thai noodle soup The only non-spicy dish. Broth was a clear base that was somewhat better after all the sweet dishes. But a little bland. Thai green tea was good though. This place is always a solid meal. I've been going here for months. My partner likes to order food from here whenever we are in need comfort food. Our top pick is hands down the Khao Soi and Thai tea. The first time we ate there we were a little shocked and off put by all the fusion dishes, but we have grown to love the fusion. We would definitely be down for coming back here to try more of their menu. We went in for an early lunch and we're the only sit down customers. They don't have a specific lunch menu but prices weren't exorbitant so that was nice. While we didn't try any of their specials (written on a chalkboard) it does look like they change them regularly. Yummy spot for Thai-American fusion eats! Definitely a great place for lunch, they've got really nice lunch combos, and the service is fast. The interior is super cute and airy with lots of seating. Also a convenient parking garage right next door. I tried both the Green Curry and Red Curry sandwiches, and each came with a small salad (with a light sweet fish sauce dressing) and fries. Green Curry Sandwich: Loved this one! Packed with flavor and served on perfectly toasted, crunchy white bread. The filling had slabs of chicken, fresh basil, bell peppers, cheese, onions, and green curry sauce. I asked for it extra spicy and loved the kick, though I def would've appreciated even more of the sauce inside. Red Curry Sandwich: Similar setup to the green curry, but the flavor leaned nuttier and slightly sweeter. It was still good, but felt a bit dry because of lack of sauce. Thai Cottage Bistro is one of my new favorite Thai restaurants. It hits all of the right notes. Located on Medical Center Drive, right off Shady Grove Road, it is convenient and easy to find. A Parking garage is located right next store to the restaurant. The dining area is lovely, filled with cherry wood laminate topped tables, a floor that resembles bamboo, and plenty of plants and wall decor. The service was excellent. I was greeted warmly when I walked in the door. My server was so nice and efficient. My order was ready in 10 minutes. And , the food was simply amazing. It takes authentic Thai food and adds its own contemporary spin to it. Normally, a popular Thai appetizer is chicken satay. Thai Cottage Bistro creates a delicious sandwich with the grilled marinated chicken and a slaw that adds just the right amount of acid to the dish. The grilled bread is a perfect addition and the Thai peanut sauce is addicting. I would put that sauce on everything, if you let me. The sandwich is accompanied by fries and a salad. Next time, I will ask them to pack a the salad separately. My fries got a little soggy on the way home. I also ordered the dynamite shrimp. There were four large shrimp that had been delicately breaded and fried. The dynamite sauce was excellent too. The bill for both dishes was really reasonable and I am pleasantly full. I've had Thai Cottage Bistro plenty of times and I think I would it call it one of my comfort foods! I mean I love Thai food so I'm very bias, but their food is SCRUMPTIOUS! I get their Thai Green Curry Sandwich, it comes with fries, little salad, and yummy sauces of green curry and sweet salad sauce! As I have heard good things about this place, I will go back, but just try something different on the menu. Thai Cottage Bistro. The restaurant is very clean on the inside and has a modern setting. The customer service was very good as well. The food was great, really nothing to complain about. The dish I ordered was the Kao Mun Gai Tod which had fried chicken and rice and the proportions were great for its price. This is a really interesting spot. Thai fusion is not something that you come across a lot in this area. To be honest, I don't come across it a lot anywhere lol. The restaurant interior is well appointed, clean, and nicely decorated. Service has ALWAYS been very friendly and efficient. The last time I went, I got a Tom Yum sandwich. Yes, you read that right. A Tom Yum Sandwich. It was pretty good, but I will say... I probably would have preferred a bowl of the warm soup. The flavor was there... but maybe just a bit too concentrated on the chicken. They have larb gai tacos, green curry sandwiches. But they also have the more traditional soups and rice/noodle dishes as well. Everything I've had there has been delicious. Please don't be confused. But I'd honestly probably stick to the more traditional dishes next time I visit. I do remember, one time i went there and had the satay and it was a FANTASTIC rendition ( and that's saying something as my sister in law makes a superb Thai style chicken satay skewer). First of all, I wrote down instructions in the 'Special Request' section asking for the Soup to Not be spicy because I am having a bit of heartburn & a jumpy yucky stomach & those directions were followed. I had a craving for the Tom Kha Tom Kha Soup broth so that is why I ordered it. I have ordered from Thai Cottage before.l, so I am a repeat customer. The CRISPY VEGGIE DUMPLING with Spinach & Corn inside was pretty good & tasty. Knowing that I was not up to deep fried food-- I did ask if the chef could pan fry instead of deep fry the CRISPY VEGGIE DUMPLING , and I am not sure if that is how the chef did it--regardless they were still CRISPY but Not excessively loaded with oil & grease. I would order the CRISPY VEGGIE DUMPLINGS again. The Tom Kha Soup was very good, but its temperature was not very hot. I did request that it not be spicy & it was very mild in spice, as I had requested it to be. I did say that I did pay the extra $1 for the shrimp in the Tom Kha Soup And I had also requested for some chicken to be left in there too. I did receive 3 VERY JUMBO SHRIMP. That was because I did not want to just be left with broth. There was an okay amount of big white button cut mushrooms in there and about 3 grape tomatoes cut in half---so about 6 halves of tasty good quality grape tomatoes. The Tom Kha Soup I would reorder as I enjoyed the flavorful broth. The cost of Tom Kha Soup in town is getting VERY expensive. I was seeing restaurants even charge a $10 base for a bowl of soup plus $4 for a shrimp add-on. It is truly a drag to be spending over $8 for 16 ounces or less for soup now-a-days. This was the least expensive 1 which I had found of tom kha Tom Kha Soup for what was posted on DoorDash. This cost the $6.99 plus $1 extra for the 3 Jumbo shrimp, but there was no chicken in there at all so it seemed like I was having more broth than content. It would be very nice if these Thai & Asian Fusion restaurants let us add more proteins & more vegetables even for a plus cost other than just shrimp or chicken or tofu or vegetables only -- Because I really needed both to get my stomach to feeling better. I would have been willing to pay for that to get the combination of what I wanted. Baby bok choy would have been a good healthy addition & then Mr. Book could make more money. I took pictures of the inside of the very tasty CRISPY VEGGIE DUMPLING & of the tom kha Tom Kha Soup & to show the size of the 3 shrimp. I do Not know if my notes were read by the Chef as there was no chicken in there at all. The Thai Ice Tea was good andU can tell that tgey used real tea bags and not a powder mix such as the Thai ice tea that l had received from another restaurant recently through DoorDash. And only 5 ice cubes were put in the Thai Ice Tea, as I had asked but the cup was Not filled to the top. The Key Lim Pie was a big disappointment as I am truly a 'Key Lime Pie Aficionado'. The green color was very attractive and enticed me to order it, but it was NOT very sweet. If the Key Lime Pie was good I would not have left any behind on the plate. This Key Lime Pie was neither very sweet nor tart. It came across to me as pretty plain & if I did nit have a lemon wedge to squeeze onto the slice, It would not have tasted very limey. I think it was a 'No bake' gelatin based pie, and the crust had no flavor really. Now I have to find a Key Lime Pie slice to satisfy my craving. Next time I will try the Roti desserts with the ice cream. I am taking the extra time to write this as I could not find any reviews on the Key Lime Pie. One other point about the food getting delivered 'Warm' and not hot is that I am not the only diner who sees that the sustainability efforts of Mr. Book are truly a great cause, but the packaging containers ruin your food when delivered via DoorDash. The food does NOT maintain a hot temperature probably because the 25 pound card stock container for the CRISPY VEGGIE DUMPLINGS is so thin. The Tom Kha Tom Kha Soup should have been piping hot, even in that container in which I often receive other Asian soups. I am not sure but the plastic cup used for the Thai Ice Tea maybe does not hold the cold in the tea but ditch the paper straw because No one wants to use those as the turn to mush & ruin the beverage & I know there are sustainable straws recycled from fish & marine shells made by 'Phade' or 'StrawFish' are made really well. And besides that Trump recently on Feb 10th, 2025 made an executive order against paper straw use. read more

I highly recommend the Kao Mun Gai Tod (Thai Style Fried Chicken). It was delish and I told my friend the jasmine rice was cooked perfectly and likely the best I've ever had at any restaurant. I could it eat plain all by itself. They have lunch specials Monday through Friday from 11:30-2:30 dine-in only. The Soup and Rice dishes for the lunch specials come with a drink and veggie dumplings. I selected the Thai Iced Tea for my drink. The tea and dumplings were great. I just thought the dumplings were small. They should consider presenting it on a smaller plate to make it look more proportionate to the dumpling size. A retail parking garage is adjacent to the restaurant and metered parking is also available. Communal outdoor seating is available as there are a few restaurants nearby. I really loved everything about my dining experience. You can't beat the price for the lunch special. When my friend and I arrived around 11:30 there were empty tables available. My husband and I ate a late lunch here and the food was a good value and delicious! (~$15 for lunch entree including a chicken broth soup) We both ordered rice entrees where I ordered the marinated grilled beef and my husband ordered the marinated grilled chicken. Both meats were seasoned really well and the Jasmine rice was light and fluffy and not too dry or moist. The beef was lean and a bit tough, but it was fine once I sliced it into smaller pieces. We also ordered the roti taro dessert with vanilla ice cream, it was a unique sweet roti dessert where mashed taro was sandwiched in between the roti and paired well with the ice cream. The ambiance was beautiful and clean and the service was polite. We received our food in these compostable boxes that looked like takeout even though we were dining in, they could elevate the dining experience by using nicer plates or those Thai bamboo dishes. I ordered the chicken satay sandwich, and then the larb sandwhich (beef) and craffle with pandan custard. For the entrees, I was really surprised by how delicious everything was. The fries were crispy, the salad was fresh, and the dressing was sweet and spicy! The sandwiches were so good too. The bread was perfectly toasted, crunchy, and buttery. The chicken in the chicken satay sandwich was moist too. But what really made it a home run was the peanut sauce. It brought everything together. One thing I wished the chicken satay sandwich came with was the cucumber salad. I would've loved to have that tartness and crunch to add more balance and texture to the sandwich. As for the larb sandwich, the beef was tender and tasty, but I think it muted the flavor of the sauce. I definitely think it would've tasted better with chicken. Lastly, the craffle with pandan custard was decent. It did taste a bit greasy, but the custard helped. The custard had a coconut flavor to it and was sweet, but not too sweet. My wife and I visited here for an early dinner one evening. We noticed this was a new place and their menu has some creative Thai fusion options. We were greeted by Book and also he was our server. The ambiance was very pleasant. It was a nice casual and dozy atmosphere. We were there for an early dinner, so we were the only eat-in diners at the time. We started with the tacos as an appetizer. A creative way to sample Thai flavors. I had the Kao Nua Yang and the mix of flavors were excellent. My wife had the Kao Mun Gai and that was also excellent. First, the parking in the garage was super convenient -- just steps away from the restaurant entrance. Everything from atmosphere to food was exceptional. The environment itself is modern, aesthetically calming, and clean. The first thing I noticed is that a lot of people came looking for the basic dishes like pad thai and fried rice only to find that the restaurant didn't have it on their menu. I love a good Pad Thai and pineapple fried rice, but come with the expectation of having something else (it's worth it). The Kao Mun Gai Todd had piping hot fried chicken, which was crispy to the bite, and their seasoned rice, was delicious. I ate their seasoned rice on its own even after the chicken was long gone, and I couldn't stop eating the empty carbs because it was just that good. My husband ordered the Boat Noodle Soup, and the bite I had from his bowl was flavorful and comforting. We both enjoyed our food. I would order each of these dishes again. The inside looks nice and has seating, but we got takeout. The chicken on the sandwich was really flavorful you could eat that even without the sauce, but the sauce elevated the sandwich so much. It comes with fries and a side salad. The salad dressing is a little spicy so if you're not into spice I'd skip it.
