I stopped by yesterday because the outdoor decor was so cute I figured it was a hidden gem - I was wrong. I ordered the Panang served with fish filet for pick up and so many things went wrong. 1. When I got there the store was completely empty, but the person ringing me out was rushing me like I bothered her. 2. They charged me more than their listed menu prices on line. 3. I got home to discover the fish filet was just previously frozen tilapia. I was horrified. 4. The Panang curry was by far the worst I've ever tried. It was watered down and it had the weirdest vegetable blend - I've never had a thai dish served with corn nibblets, green peas, and whole bell pepper slices. When I placed the order over the phone, I asked if they had papaya salad and the answer was no. That should've been my red flag. This place has so many good reviews but I can't vouch for them. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dish and went on the wrong day, but I wouldn't recommend from my experience. read more

Got take out here for the first time. There are surprisingly, not many Thai restaurants in the Parksville/Towson area so I do appreciate this one. This one is decent. I have definitely had better Thai food, but it was acceptable and the prices were reasonable so I would come back. I felt the pad Thai and pad see ew were not sweet enough, and they did not come with a lime wedge to add that extra acidity. Ended up adding lime juice and sugar myself which improved the dish. I felt like it was a little too salty and dark. I would like to try more of their dishes and update my review after I try more. read more

Friends ordered takeout from here while visiting. They were really busy but the order was ready within their estimated window. I felt like the pad see ew, pad thai, and "stir fry garlic - tofu" were just average for Thai food. Not quite as complex as I would expect and basically no heat despite asking for it. I would go again without complaint but wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

I recently ordered the chicken larb and it was absolutely delicious--super flavorful and the chicken was so tender and juicy. Towson FINALLY has a good thai restaurant!! Solid food, definitely my go to from here on out!

I ordered the Drunken Noodle and Spring rolls which taste really great. It has nice quality of ingredients and nicely seasoned as well. I also like the Beef Drunken Noodles which taste really great and tender meat. I really enjoyed the food there and it taste so authentic. It also has generous portion of food. We live in the neighborhood and walked here last night to celebrate Valentine's Day. BYOB if you want to dine in, there are several tables. We ordered the Pad Thai and the Curried Duck. Both were very good and came with rice. There is nothing fancy about ChokChai-- dinner is served in to-go boxes on a tray. Hmmm so we ordered of course a pad Thai, satay chix, couple of spring roll and the pineapple fried rice, so the pad thai?? Nope very dark consistency salty and noodles are very well done like breaking apart, satay chix is ok as well as the spring roll, the pineapple fried rice?? This place is really close to my house and during Covid I had to try different food (since I was going out to eat) and convenience was and still is great. I could give them 5 star just because of the Thai teas!! This was the only drink that stopped my nausea when I was pregnant and I'm still obsessed and he's a toddler now. The only complaint I have is that the portions are a little small for the price, but I think that's typical of restaurants today. read more

I do like this place. We've gone off and on for years and the staff is always pleasant. They are very Covid-cautious which is, of course, great. The only hang up is that they are little pricy and the appetizers come in odd numbers. Getting 3 dumplings is not quite enough for 2 people at around $8. The meals are all good and while I don't think you'd get any leftovers out of them they are filling and flavorful. The only thing that stops us from going more is that spending about $60 for two is about my upper limit for take out. I love the shapes they cut the vegetables in for soup! read more

We tried this place for the first time. The takeout process was smooth and they fulfilled our order quickly. The food was decent. We had the brown fried rice with shrimp and the pad see ew with chicken and shrimp. They gave nice portions of shrimp and chicken, but the flavor was rather light and sometimes it didn't seem to have a lot of taste. Really wasn't impressive. There were so many positive reviews but I thought it was just average. However it was quite inexpensive so there is that. We were craving Thai food and it hit the spot but we wouldn't reorder. Probably my favorite Thai place in the area. Love the curry puffs, and can't get them anywhere else. All the noodle dishes I've tried have been great, as have the soup, apps, mango and sticky rice, and the Thai iced tea. One thing that wasn't great on my last visit was the chicken satay, as it was that rubbery, not fresh type chicken. Not sure what was up with that. Recommend calling and ordering. The lovely woman who runs the place has been coming out to the car to take your pickup payment during covid. I've ordered from Chockchai a few times but just getting around to posting a review. (Every now and again I check my reviews in draft and think, "Wait, I didn't finish writing a review for this place yet?" Lol) For my most recent order, I had the vegetable drunken noodles. After asking how spicy it would be (I noticed that there were 2 asterisks next to the dish. One asterisk means spicy, so I could only imagine what 2 mean) the woman replied, "Spicy," and asked if I would like it mild. Anytime a dish has 2 symbols for spicy and the response is plain ol' "spicy", take heed and order mild, unless you like your food **spicy lol The flavor of the drunken noodles was absolutely delicious! Seriously. My only gripe is that the noodles were a bit too drunk for me. They almost had a gummy texture. Not sure if this is how it's supposed to be but I'd prefer for mine not to be this way. Although the noodles were a bit too drunk for me, it didn't make the dish inedible. It was still very tasty. I'd still recommend that you give this place and that dish a try! read more

Tried this local spot for take out. Pick up time was very quick and ready within the allotted time they provided. I got the drunken noodles and it was very good. It was pretty spicy so if you don't like spice then this dish is not for you. They did mention when I placed my order that is was spicy so they forewarned you before hand. They also provided house made cookies that were so delicious. I wish I could buy a box of them!! read more

This spot was local, and had good reviews. No dine in. You go to the door and ring the bell. They will come out and take your order then bring to your car. First of all the food is good. No complaints. We ordered curry shrimp, tai chili dish, mango sticky rice, and an order of dumplings. The total came to $41. The food portions came in the metal pan your typical asian restaurant uses for lunch specials, and they weren't even full. We got one plastic container of rice (the container restaurants use for a slice of cake). Same container for the mango sticky rice. The dumplings come in 4. They have a homemade soy sauce they give you with the dumplings. They could keep that. This was a one and done for me. Better price, better portions are found at spice and dice in towson on joppa. This is a hole in the wall! It's located on the corner of a block. Order ahead of time due to COVID preventing you from going inside. Pad Thai Ordered the pad Thai and it was cooked perfectly. Thankful that Chok Chai is right in my neighborhood. Delicious Thai food, excellent service, caring family and community members. After living in Thailand for years it was wonderful to find Chok Chai and authentic Thai dishes. (I was sad to eat mediocre food in Federal Hill area when I first returned) Support Chok Chai and explore their dishes. I am always hesitant to rate a place 5 stars because I worry that the Yelp algorithm is going to hide it because it thinks I'm a robot. Well, I promise I'm not a robot. Just a local gal who tries a LOT of Thai food in search of the good stuff. And Chokchai is the best I've had in Baltimore so far. I always try pad thai before anything else, to set a baseline. And Chokchai's does not disappoint. I would also like to state for the record that I am beyond obsessed with their curry puffs. Sometimes I just sit around and think about them. Also, the staff is friendly. They are pretty prompt considering they are cooking most things to order. The ambiance isn't going to blow you away but it's really not about that anyway. It's clean. There are a couple of tables if you feel like hanging out. It's mostly a kitchen for the good folks at Chokchai to make you super yummy food. I wish everything was more fresh and that the serving sizes were a little bigger considering the price. I love their Sweet potato puffs. That is all Ok so, apparently I wrote too little at first. Now their restaurant ambiance is not inviting if you wanted to sit down and eat.
