It's a hole in the wall restaurant with literally 5 sitting tables. The staff seemed overwhelmed and forgot to bring out silverware or dishes or thai iced tea. But they were nice and not rushing us. They also promoted take away for the extras. We got the panang curry and the pineapple fried rice. Paired with our staple thai iced tea. This was one of our top 5 thai iced teas! The portion size were huge and even after a long day at road to hana we couldn't finish the dishes. The pineapple fried rice had good flavor, the pineapple was fresh, and I liked the crunchy cashews. The parang curry was well spiced but I should have went 1 level higher and filled with nicely cooked chicken and vegetables.

My wife and I enjoy Thai food on the mild side. We started with the coconut shrimp and shared the Massaman curry, which was cooked to perfection. There was an abundance of vegetables and chicken. My Thai iced tea was flavored to my taste. The service was friendly and efficient. When we travel and are in a location for several days, we enjoy finding a local Thai restaurant. We have eaten here on previous visits and were not disappointed. We plan to return during our April visit to the Islands.

A must if visiting Paia! Some of the best Thai food I have ever had! Highly recommend the fresh spring rolls, chicken satay, green curry, pad Thai and the tom yum soup! The service was the best and the kindest sweetest woman. Thank you Thai Spice for the wonderful experience.

Thai Spice is a Thai restaurant located in downtown Paia with nearby street parking - it's a great place for takeout. We ordered 4 dishes to share and had leftovers. They were flavored and packed well as well. We were able to order on the phone and pick-up pretty quickly too. The dishes were reasonably priced and fulfilled our craving for Asian food while in Maui.

Honesty this place's food is bussing. Been going there for some time now. Always worth the wait for the food. Not a big fan of tropical desserts HOWEVER their mango sticky rice was perfect; not too sweet and just the right combination of flavor with texture. Must checkout if you're passing through Pāʻia

Better than I remembered! Even though service sometimes can be slow and inside dining sometimes is not open, But the food is even better than I remembered. I had both the green curry & the red curry and they were both very good. Also the green papaya salad is solid and highly recommended. Take it to go, this place is tiny. But the flavor is mighty.

Food was amazing! While we were here the food inspector made a surprise visit. Said it was the cleanest kitchen he'd ever seen.

I walked in around lunch time with a party of four. The restaurant is very small. I think there's only 3-5 tables. The waitress is very nice. Here's what we ordered: Chicken larb with sticky rice Pad see ew with shrimps Drunken stirred fry with fish Lemongrass salad with seafood Now, is this authentic Thai food? No. But for this area, it is decent. Since I'm visiting I'll probably won't get to visit this place again. I think if you live around here I can see why customers like it. I see customers coming in for to go orders. I parked at a parking lot nearby and walked over. They do accept credit cards.

Sad but true.... The Worst Thai food experience EVER !!! My wife & I drove 8 miles out of our way to experience Thai Spice. It's a small Take out joint, with few tables to eat in. We ordered Green Papaya salad, Pad Kee Mao ( Drunken Noodle) & Green Curry. Food came out quick, way too quick in about 6 minutes. Same time, 2 entrees & Salad. I felt like food was sitting under heating lamp waiting for order. Green Papaya salad was limp and blend. Drunken Noodle ...... weird red color ( think Red Velvet cake ) unusual taste, zero spice, chunks of zucchini, Kefir leafs, Ginger & Lemongrass. the disappointment was to big to, not returned the Drunken Noodle, only saving grace - Green Curry dish ...... Not amazing but fine, If you end up there we would recommend this dish. read more

Nice little stop...good food, decent prices for a tourist town. Sweet service even though she forgot a dish it was dealt with grace and came right out in a few minutes. The place is very small and we were right by the kitchen...I watched some amazing dishes pass by!! Definitely coming back to snag some!! read more

This little hole in the wall, is not the best place. The food came out way to quick! I think it was only 5 minutes. We ordered the fried chicken, Thai chicken cashews, and the house noodles with chicken. I just want to say one important thing. DON'T ORDER THE CHICKEN! Especially the fried chicken, it was very dry and wasn't really fried chicken. The "fried chicken" was more like little chicken rocks. The house noodles are okay, but again the chicken was not good. The Thai chicken cashew was fine, i guess. Then we got rice with 3 of the of the meals. You could here them use the microwave in the back. The only reason why I'm giving them two stars is because the service there was pretty good. read more

I am sorry but the food is disgusting. The service is great but the food was microwaved and served to the guests. The pad Thai was cooked with ketchup... I literally felt like puking after I had a few bites. I do not recommend this place to anyone! read more

I think we're pretty blessed to come from an area with AMAZING thai food- so maybe we're hard to impress. All in all, this was okay. We ordered fried spring rolls, pad se ew, pad pet, green curry and thai cashew nut(?). My mother placed the order and when we got the food back to our rental, she realized they hadn't asked her what spice level to prepare the food (my husband is part thai and takes his spice pretty seriously...haha). Needless to say, the food was quite bland and left much to be desired. Portions were small relative to cost, but, it's Maui so that's no surprise. We also ordered mango sticky rice, thai iced coffee and thai iced tea. I LOVE my thai iced tea and this was terrible. It almost tasted as though an artificial sweetener was used- and it lacked the richness and depth of flavor I'm used to. If you're really craving thai iced tea, there's a thai restaurant in Kihei that make a delicious one (the name escapes me). The thai iced coffee was extremely dark in color and tasted like a canned coffee drink- not quite sure what was happening there. The mango sticky rice was bland and the rice was green (something we've never experienced before!). So, I would steer very clear of the drinks and mango sticky rice....not worth the money OR the calories. The food we had was decent but nothing to write home about. read more

Tiny, little restaurant, but AWESOME food!!! Fresh, tasty food! Staff is always very friendly. They are always super busy, so if you are planning to eat there, anticipate having to wait to get a table. But, the food is definitely worth the wait!!! read more

Ordered the following: Green Papaya Salad Chicken Satay Larb Beef Tom Yum shrimp My wife is Thai so she asked for the papaya salad to be prepared in the authentic manner which she says was the best she has had on the island so far. My chicken satay wasn't bad but the chicken had a rubbery texture. The peanut sauce as clumpy too... The Tom Yum was very good and I had it with brown rice. The Larb had a great flavor and seemed to have some authenticity.. This is a great little place for lunch. I'd stick with Tiki Tiki in Kahului for fine Thai dining though. read more

WORST THAI FOOD EVER!!!!! We tried this place for the first time today. We got the Tom Kha w/ chicken - super sweet, too sweet; Green papaya salad - no flavor; the Specialty Noodles - NOT special and watery; Pad Thai - again zero flavor, honestly don't know what was in my mouth with this basic Thai dish; side of rice- this soggy mess, can't even cook rice!!! We hated this place, absolutely disgusting!!! We are BIG foodies, and this place was SO awful-terrible. I hope we save even one person from wasting their money. ~A very disappointed local. read more

There are only 4 tables in this tiny space, and most people order food to go. Service was great when we were the only table, but they quickly got overwhelmed as the other tables filled and several to go orders were placed. The shrimp fried rice had bits of shrimp shell in it, and the pad see ew was really spicy for one person and not spicy at all for the other. The summer rolls, though, were delicious! If they're not busy, I'm sure this is a good place to eat, but better for takeout. read more

Came in here for dinner. The place is tiny, and I mean tiny. Four small tables. I ordered to go: Massaman chicken curry with brown rice and Chicken Pad Thai. Came home with a boat load of food. Both were great, but not the best thai food I've had. Still, for the amount of food you get, I liked it. I think it still needed spices or just a kick of hot spices to uplift the flavor. Cooked to order, fresh, and service was great. Generous amount of protein and vegetables. Curry tasted great, but again, needed some hotness to kick it up a notch. I didn't expect to find Thai food in Maui, but I'm glad there is one here and does a good job making good food. Overall: Good food, Great price, Great service read more

We were on our way to the Maui airport and we decided to grab a little Thai on the way out of town. We loved it and we would recommend the restaurant as a casual choice for dine in (two high top tables inside and two on the porch) or carry out. It's primarily a carry out restaurant. My wife is Asian and we love Asian food. We had the Pad Thai Chicken and Panang Curry Chicken. Two of our favourites. We called ahead and the food was waiting when we arrived. We were able to sit at one of the two tables inside the restaurant and devour the meal prior to our flight. Excellent choice, reasonably priced, fast, friendly, service. We will return for sure. They are only a few months old, but very busy with carry out orders. read more

We stopped here after a long drive back from Hana. The place has a total of 4 tables and we were lucky enough to get one of them, after a 5 minute wait. Food was surprisingly delicious! We had the basil chicken, ginger beef, pad Thai, and papaya salad. The papaya salad was so fresh!! Prices were reasonable too! Service was great! Surprisingly good Thai food in a tiny 4-6 table restaurant. The highlight: fresh, flavorful curries which included a lot of vegetables. A little pricey, but typical for Maui. Bonus: off-street parking lot in busy Pa'ia. Spring Rolls (5 for $9): crisp and piping hot, but the least remarkable part of the meal. Crispy Fried Fish special with Green Papaya Salad: very enjoyable. Fish was fresh, moist, tender, and perfectly fried. Batter could have used a touch more seasoning. It was tasty with the Nuoc Nam (fish sauce) leftover from the Spring Rolls. Papaya and carrot salad was deliciously dressed and very refreshing. Red Curry with Duck special: flavorful, moderately spiced curry with mixed veggies, pineapple, and roast duck. Might have given 5 stars, but the duck, while tasty, was overcooked and tough. Green Curry with Shrimp: also flavorful, moderately spiced curry with large fresh shrimp and a different array of vegetables. This was probably the best item we ordered. Garlic Shrimp: edible, but had a cloyingly sweet soy sauce taste. Flavors were not as balanced as the other dishes. Would not order this one again. Actually, we didn't order it the first time, we had ordered Garlic Chicken... Lastly, let me just say, that I dislike having to pay extra for rice ($5 for a bowl to share). It's incredibly inexpensive and IMHO should come with your entree in an asian restaurant. I don't know why Thai restaurants often charge extra for rice, but it bugs me. read more

Hefty portions! To bad didn't really wanna finish it. Bland bland bland. No spice no flavor, green papaya salad no taste no fish sauce no spice. The spring roll sauce suppper bland. Just dissatisfied with all the good reviews maybe a off night. But if your cravings is for flavor and spice of Thailand. Didn't even ask for a level a spice which is just odd. Great restaurant! They only have seating for about 10-15 people max I would think. Friendly staff, really yummy food. The entrees don't come with rice, so make sure to order some on the side. Good portion sizes for the price. Probably one of the best deals in Paia, if not all of Maui. read more

Went here during last day of stay in Maui and this place is legit. Ordered crispy fish with mango salad (hot) and thai beef salad (medium). Both were excellent. I've cooked spicy mango salad at home but have never seen it on a menu anywhere. It was very spicy and delicious! The place is tiny though so be prepared for that. Luckily for us we went during off hours so there was plenty of room. There is also not much parking in the shared lot but that seems to be par for the Paia area. read more

It was good. Above average food. Great service. It has very limited dine in seating options and was a bit drafty, which normally isn't bad in hot weather, but it was raining and we were soaking wer so the draft was making us colder than we would have liked. My favorite dish of what we ordered was the red curry with seafood (it was a mix, if I remember correctly). The green papya salad was good too. They brought me the fresh chiles and fish sauce on request and that helped punch up my own servings, while leaving some of dinning companions with the less spicy versions. read more

Hands down best Thai food on the island. I have lived here for almost 4 years and have tried practically every Thai Restaurant in Maui. Thai Spice in Paia is a great place, the workers are always lovely and the food is excellent. I have tried many things on the menu but the Veggie Panang and Veggie Pad Thai are my favorite. Driving all the way from Kihei my Girlfriend and I make this trip 2-3 times a week! Very affordable and fu****g delicious !!!!!! read more

Family decided on Thai for takeout lunch. Took a bit longer than expected, maybe 25 min for 9 orders, which probably isn't unreasonable. They gave us an extra tapioca for free, which was nice of them. Unfortunately, the food lacked flavor. It looked like Kee Mao, but it didn't taste like it. No garlic, no onion, no basil ... but it did have lettuce. Nice folks, but: nope. read more

Being greeted by a Yoda statue and checked in by Obi Wan Kenobi via rotary phone was unexpected to say the least hahahah. The restaurant is split into a few dining rooms, us being seated in the second one. The decor here is eccentric and funky - Thai illustrative wallpaper, Elvis cardboard cutouts, Beatles coffee table books, Back to the Future hoverboards, and SO much Star Wars. Really gives you a lot to look at and talk about while you wait for your food. The food comes to-go style with disposable cutlery, plateware, and water bottles which I didn't fully understand, but everything was sooo tasty. We were the only party in the room so everything came out quickly and hot. We all shared the panang curry, pad thai, fried tofu, fried rice, and tom yum soup and everything was so delicious. Flavors and textures were incredible.Our server was so sweet too, bringing out some coconut tapioca pudding at the end of the meal as a free dessert! Well, we went into dining room 1 and saw two people, stood there for a good minute with no one coming by to seat or greet us, so I walked over to dining room 2 since I saw a woman wiping down tables. She said we could dine here too, so I walked back outside (rooms are not connected) to get the rest of the party over. We sat in the middle of the room, since there wasn't anyone else and marveled at the "quirky" decor, which was kind of interesting. A few minutes passed and a woman came out with small bottles of water. Since we're new to the place, we didn't know there wasn't a menu - just a QR code that wasn't prominently displayed or designed (dark on semi-dark colors). We scanned it and it is the weirdest menu I've ever seen filled with "jokes," that actually adds to the bill. It was difficult to navigate as it is long and not in organized, but Pad Thai for $25? Get out of here. I don't care how good it is. I'm not paying $75 for three entrees. The waitress hasn't checked on us for a while when we had questions, so we decided to leave. I went to the window to call them to let them know, but they didn't hear me above their own chatter, so we just left. Light industrial condo units converted to a restaurant in an industrial area with hardly any customers on a Friday night. I don't know how they survive. Three stars for the decor and possibly the food.

I am looking at the menu and I realize that a lot of these cocktails are new, which is another bummer because I would have loved to try all of them (guava mojito, spicy lilikoi mezcalita and vana colada -- yes please!) The restaurant itself is so cute! There is definitely a rustic vibe to it. It could look like a treehouse because there's a big tree in the middle and string lights. We arrived just as they opened for lunch at 11.30am and luckily managed to be seated straight away. I've read that dinner is much harder to get a table and there is a long wait so arrive accordingly ;) Parking is available in the car park next door beside the gym, free and self parking. So, what did we order?......... Grapefruit lychee spritzer - we chose the mocktail version but you can make it a cocktail too. Sooo citrusy and thirst quenching. Not sweet, zingy. Very refreshing on a hot Maui day Miso - earthy, salty, brothy, umami, steaming hot in a bowl to start off your extravaganza of a meal Shio koji cabbage - finely shredded with sesame and house milled bran and seasoning, like an elegant Japanese coleslaw, I loved it! The salmon portion size was small, but not insultingly tiny. Could have been a bit larger for the $15, the value is not there only if you compare to what you make at home, otherwise it's probably disappointedly normal. When you get your six inch diameter bowl you will see what I mean. The heap of rice made for good entertainment feeding the chickens. You're discouraged from feeding them so I just sat the bowl down behind the coffee guys trailer and watched them pig out. It is not exactly "Fast" food here, they are actually cooking the meal while you wait. I had my order in 12 minutes though, exactly how long she said it would take.

Although young lady, who actually put our plates on the table, was courteous. It could not overcome the blend boring dishes that were put on our table. Coffee was also watery and not good :( I ordered the chocolate smoothie bowl, which was good but the smoothie to topping ratio was a bit unbalanced. The disclaimer for an extra 20% added to the bills of international travelers was also a bit odd to me, saying this as someone that's from the states.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I recommend everybody I know to Thai Spice. Their prices are pretty great and their portions are generous. This is the best Thai food ! I start by ordering the fresh spring rolls ( I love that they add avocado), followed by the papaya salad ( spicy), and then green curry!
