BEST THAI FOOD ON MAUI, and I'll die on that hill. We drive from upcountry to Kihei just to get our fix. Flavor is always on point. We have never come and had it be otherwise, which honestly is something many restaurants struggle with- consistency...not here though. We always request to sit with either Kekoa or Micheal...their service is impeccable. Both are fathers and we can tell because when we come in with our toddler they instantly know never to put anything in arms reach of him...not every server we get when eating out think about that. It's the small details in service that we appreciate. Restaurant itself is always clean. Chefs, like I said earlier never miss on flavor, seasoning, spice or time. Tri flavor fresh catch (mahi) - surprisingly tasty. It had a crunchy exterior and a hint of sweet and spicy sauce. 3. Thai boat noodle - tasty broth but wasn't sure why it came out dark until I later asked and they said it's blended pigs blood. Had I known I probably would have gotten a different broth as I was looking for something clear and soothing like a chicken soup. Still, the noodles and meat were delicious. This was the BEST food I had when I visited Maui! Our maps kind of guided us to the wrong restaurant, but we found it tucked off in the corner. The host/server in the front was welcoming & we got sat right away. He recommended beef fried rice with a fried egg (didn't get a photo & I also ordered spring rolls & crab rangoons. The food came really fast & I couldn't wait to dive in. Every single dish was absolutely AMAZING. Nutcharee's is the BEST Thai food and service hands down! The owner and staff always treat us like family. We try to get there early around 5 pm or 5:30 pm and our food always comes out in about 15-20 minutes. Expect a wait if you come around the 6/6:30-7 pm range. That's when the 2nd part of the restaurant is opened. We always have our go to's. I get myself a refreshing Thai Iced Tea with Coconut Milk & we usually start with Spring Rolls and Calamari. It comes with lettuce, mint, cabbage, cucumber and Thai chili dipping sauce. If you want a non fried option, I'd recommend the summer rolls. It has vermicelli noodles, mint and vegetables wrapped in sticky rice paper. For our dinner, we always get their Crispy Fish with Green Mango Salad. You have the nice balance of crispy with fresh green salad that has red onion, peanuts, carrot, and cilantro. We get a Large Sticky Rice to share. We also were told there were some new items so we tried the Vietnamese Style Pho. I opted out of the brisket and meatballs and requested just the rare sliced steak which had fresh jalapeño slices, bean sprouts, lime, and hoisin and sriracha sauce to add! So comforting! If you love curry, I recommend their Green Curry (it has a lot of vegetables) and their Braised Short Rib Curry. Get it with sticky rice! If you're looking for a rice or noodle dish, their Crab Meat Fried Rice and Pad Thai and also Laad Na (Crispy egg noodle) is my favorite. Nutchareee was recommended by John O'Leary the legendary local under water photographer for good reason. It is excellent, affordable, easy and authentic. The friendly staff made us feel like we were at home, including gentle ribbon when I spilled something or otherwise made a mess for the fifth or sixth time. I have no idea what was going on. I am very skilled eating lobster, but for some reason this time I painted my table mates and then spilled something else a few times. The ample parking was a bonus. The ambience was tight them without being forced. Comfortable and authentic. Each plate was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The ingredients were fresh. When the bill came. A small Thai eatery inside of a strip mall along the main road. With the amazing reviews I had to give it a try and see what all the craze was about. Here's my take. The owner/manager, was very kind. The service in this restaurant is what I believe gets this restaurant such great reviews. They're genuinely nice people. The food however, is not good. The highlight of our meal was the Thai iced tea. Moreover, our Pad Ke Mao came out dry and tasteless. When I asked for it to be remade or "fixed." They literally took my dish to the back and added tumeric to it (face-Palm). Like. What?! No! Omg. I was shocked. When he brought it back and kept asking how it was, I told him it was fine, but was I absolutely shook by the fact that they threw a eaten dish back into the wok to add tumeric to it?!? YES! YES I WAS! That's a sanitation issue. I didn't eat it after that. We paid, we thanked them and went out to eat again after that. Sorry Yelpers, but THIS, is a NO-GO. And I really appreciated the option to make the drunken noodles vegan (so no egg, yay!). The sticky rice was really good. Managed to grab a table before the show at the Pro Arts Playhouse with 3 girlfriends, while the restaurant filled up quickly. So quickly that service was slow which meant we had to eat faster than we intended, apart from one gal who received her crispy fish salad straight away while the rest of us waited 15 mins for our dishes. However service was with a smile, despite being rushed, and everyone sang Happy Birthday when a cake was brought out. I ordered the Jungle curry, a brown curry without coconut cream, with shrimp. I was a bit disappointed as I expected a gravy not broth, so it was more like a soup. However it was very tasty (I asked for medium) with plenty of veggies, pungent Thai basil, and about 5 shrimp. I miss the thick brown gravy curries I ate in Thailand which don't seem to be available on Maui. My gal pals chose the crispy fish salad (declared delicious), pumpkin curry (tasty and creamy but also thin soup like consistency) and the chicken stir fry was full of veg too. The surprise of the night was a Slovenian white wine! We ordered a bottle (cheapest on the menu) and it was really good. Googling it we realized it was grown on the border with Italy in an area renowned for their grapes, so it was a pleasant find. One I would definitely recommend. A number of us came to this Thai food restaurant. I heard it was one of the best if not the best in Maui. I found it to be as good as any place in Honolulu. A few of unique things: the bowl retained heat for a long time. It seemed to be some sort of stainless steel with insulation? The curry stayed hot and tasty for entire time eating it. Very nice. Tonight was our first dinner at this place for the several months. We went out with our friends to experience the best Thai food on the island. I ordered the crispy fish with mango salad Thai style and noticed the quality of the fish was subpar hence I asked the waitress what type of fish and she replied it was SWAI FISH which is a bottom feeder fish similar to catfish. SWAI FIDH is well known as cheap quality fish in Asia due to the fact it was raised in poorly maintained fish farms in Vietnam. No more crispy fish for me! Pad sew was okay with lots of noodles and no much chicken. Chicken with cashew was rather soupy and not very appetizing. There were more veggies in the Penang curry than protein as ordered. The chicken wing appetizer looks greasy and unappealing! Looks like it was deep fried with glistening palm oil! The only good thing was the 2 scoops of coconut ice cream with caramel sauce dusted with crumble macadamias nuts accompanied by 2 banana lumpia's. Lastly, We were really shocked that the bill includes a 3% of each kitchen gratuity and payment fee if using credit cards so asked our waitress and tells us is a normal restaurant practice ! Okay since we were not informed in advance we just deducted 6% of gratuity! The service was little slow like island time. We came here and got the pineapple fried rice, pumpkin curry with tofu, and summer rolls. The summer rolls were not very generous on the shrimp but there was a lot of fresh herby ingredients. The star of that dish was easily the peanut sauce. It was a peanut butter sauce with extra creaminess with emphasis on the butter. I promise you that at the end of this dish, there was no peanut sauce remaining. The pineapple fried rice had some curry seasoning and a good amount of fluff, for instance, pineapples, cashews, shrimp. It was a good tasty filler. I do like my rice a little bit less soggy but not a big deal. We got the medium spice for the pumpkin curry and it definitely had some spice. I probably would've preferred it to be a little more spicy so next time probably get it a little more than medium. I was hoping the tofu would be pan fried, but instead it was just normal, firm tofu. Overall, it was a curry that was what I expected and still tasty. Lastly we had the Thai iced tea with coconut milk. The coconut milk does make it creamier and thicker and also less sweet which is what I would prefer. Service is good here and pretty reasonably priced. read more

We opted for chicken as our protein and medium spice level which weighed a 6 on a 10 heat scale. Ingredients were fresh, chunky and plentiful. The bowl can easily feed four. Pad Kee Mao - $18.00 AKA drunken noodles. I opted for (tender & lean) steak and medium spice. Far from being a pad kee mao connoisseur, I thought it was a tasty, sweet & savory dish that contained my favorite foods of starch, meat and veggies. Like the tom yum soup, the heat level was about a 6 on a 10-scale. DESSERT: Ice Cream The homemade flavor was coconut. Two huge scoops came standard. I didn't have any but my spouse and our friend reported intense coconut flavor and a tad over-sweetness. SERVICE: Excellent, attentive and professional. The tables are divided by a wall between two sections. We sat in the second room and the ambience and noise level was nice for peaceful conversation during our meal. The only component that did not sit well was when the bill came an additional kitchen gratuity and service charge were added.
