Ambiance is very pleasant and clean, staff were friendly. Chicken fried rice (minus the frozen peas & carrots) was a solid 4 stars. Good flavor and reasonable quantity. The lemongrass chicken was mediocre, more like 2 stars-too much peanut sauce slathered on top and the broccoli was lukewarm but the chicken was good quality (thin-sliced chicken breast). It slips my mind the other dish we ordered... it actually wasn't what we ordered but was very tasty (shrimp, mushrooms, green and red peppers, onions mixed with a brown-colored light sauce). We'll probably go again sometime but not necessarily in the near future as there are other Thai restaurants in the Sellwood area worth giving a chance (according to Yelp). read more

We had dinner there tonight, it was great! Lots of veg options, good flavors and textures, no overcooked veggies (yay!). We started with super fresh salad rolls with warm peanut sauce.We had the Pad Kee Mao and Tom Kah, both with tofu. The tofu was tender and not chewy or overly fried, it really absorbed the favors In the sauce and had a balanced nicely with all the fresh carrots and bean sprouts that came with our rice noodles. The Tom Kah was nice and spicy and served in a Hot Pot! Who doesn't love a little fire show at their table? The service was prompt and polite. The price range very reasonable. We had a quick bite here on a whim last week. Came out with the feeling we'd discovered something special, a holdout with a roster of really well conceived traditional dishes. The Tom Kha was the best we've found in Portland (and comes a massive portion), and the Thai beef salad held its ground. Fresh greens and veggies were lightly dressed (not soggy like so many others) with a refreshing, mild but tangy and adequately sweetened. Both the Thai Iced Tea and Iced Coffee came in huge portions as well, and we were offered refills part way through the meal (I'm only accustomed to stinginess with tea in the past, so this was icing on the cake). Excellent service but sadly the food was not great. There are many other Thai places in Portland that I would prefer to this one, which is also a little on the expensive side for what it is. The decor was eclectic and probably not my taste but I can see how others may find it fun. If you're in the area I recommend going to Mekong for Vietnamese instead! read more

They were very accommodating, they had a lot of call in orders at the time of our arrival; they messed up our order and only got two of our three plates out, they gave us a 10% discount due to the mixup. The crab puffs were filled to the brim with crab stuffing, one out of the six ($7) was over cooked, we however did not get a replacement. The glass beef noodles were good, seemed a little over cooked and slightly too much white pepper (smelled & tasted like a petting zoo). The crispy chicken had deep fried fresh holy basil, caramelized basil leaves! Their thai iced tea comes with a little straw wrapper rose on the tip, really good - I got two refills. Got spicy chicken fried rice, one a scale from one to spicy it was spicy! So, medium is hot and mild is medium. Very clean tables, really big menus. read more

A friend and I met up here for dinner on a Tuesday night around 5:30pm. Pretty quiet, until about 7pm, when the dinner crowd started coming in. Restaurant is located on the corning of 17th in Sellwood. Adorable little place, friendly staff, good service, and the food was wonderful. The lemongrass chicken pad thai was amazing. Best spot to stop if you're gluten free and on a long bike ride down the Springwater corridor. I had the mild drunken noodles with chicken and was very pleased. There are tons of fresh veggies - I normally hate mushrooms in my food but these are so fresh and not at all over cooked that I gobbled them all right up! My server was friendly and knowledgable and my meal came out in a reasonable amount of time during the lunch hour. I will definitely stop here again next time I do this ride. read more

Ordered takeout, two orders of Pad Thai one beef one chicken. They ask how spicy you want it, we chose mild beef , medium chicken. Neither of us are any stranger to spicy food, but holy mother of dragons, this was nearly inedible. The "mild" beef looked as if they dumped a heaping tbls of red pepper flakes. The "medium" was over the top also. The flavor was good, and it wasn't a crappy ketchup sauce, but damn. Pay attention to your spice levels. It's ridiculous when you order take out and get it all the way home and can't eat it. Won't be ordering out from there again. read more

First impression- Wow so good. I ordered takeout so that I could pick it up on my way by in the portion was so large I ate it for lunch and then ate for breakfast today and I just had the rest for lunch. Great flavor and I only paid $7.50! I'm pregnant and was craving pad Thai and this really did the trick! I will be back over and over and over! 3 Years Later- ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place!! I have come here with my husband on cold days for the warm chicken soup, I have come with my mom and had curry and I have come with my grandma and had cashew chicken and pra ram. I have been here now more times than I can count. This is really really good every time. Never once have I been disappointed and the staff is so friendly. It has been fun watching the place grow. Why say that you are open until 9:30 but don't allow us to be served at 9:15? Why not say you close at 9 or turn off your open sign. Obviously customer service is not their first priority. I've worked in food service so I understand that you want to get home but there are too many Thai restaurants in the Portland area to be treated like that. Won't be back. read more

Lived 6 years in this area, LOVE THAI FOOD, first couple of years different owners were in charge and food was GREAT. Since the change it has been Ok, last two months two MAJOR mistakes occurred in two TAKE OUT orders, and had to return both. First returned order was Pineapple Rice. Though there were only about 4 pieces of pineapple in the dish, the BIG problem when I started eating it at home was that the cook had dosed dish with Cayenne pepper!! Couldn't believe it! Second order was Coconut soup. I have so few teeth I HAVE to have vegetables cut into little pieces. Explained this in detail and WITH A NOTE so chef could not mistake this request. Added a three dollar tip to make sure they cut the veggies small. Got home, ALL VEGGIES HUGE. Fist-sized Broccoli Florets, and all other veggies basically WHOLE. Instead of cook informing server that this request was IMPOSSIBLE, and that she should inform customer BEFORE RELEASING the LARGE VEGGIE soup, I presumed they had followed instructions. When I returned meal, Server informed me Chef CAN'T make this soup with anything but the huge veggies. As I have been to TWO OTHER THAI restaurants in town who had NO TROUBLE cutting veggies smaller for this exact soup, assume Cook at Thai Square has NO KNIVES. I could have cut the veggies up more at home, but paid for it to be done by them. How can ANY cook in any Asian restaurant find it IMPOSSIBLE to use a knife? Can't trust their cooks here, so my friends and I will eat at the other Thai restaurants in town who CAN CUT VEGGIES. They nicely gave a refund, but had to do a lot of shunting around that was unnecessary to find out THEIR Cooks add CAYENNE unexpectedly and can't apparently chop vegetables. Ridiculous!! read more

Was my go to for a good meal when I lived in the area. I still have dreams about that Tom Kah Gai soup. Quite possibly some of the best soup I've ever had. I do with they strained some of the lemongrass out of it before they served it, as you don't really want to eat it but if that'll all that stood between me and that Tom Kah, I would dive into the vat with a net and fish it out of there. Very good. Curry was also very good and the drunken noodles were on point. Make sure you grab some of those pickled peppers at the counter on your way out. Based on the reviews, I thought I was going to enjoy this a lot more. Food took a bit to come out but the service was pretty good! I ordered the crispy pork belly with the Chinese broccoli and my partner ordered the lemon grass chicken pad Thai. My crispy pork belly was okay, a little dry, but I really enjoyed the sauce and the broccoli was cooked perfectly. But the pad Thai was so different from any pad Thai I've had before and smelled very strongly of fish sauce. I could only have a couple bites of it. Overall, not my favorite Thai place. Gave three stars mostly because I thought the staff was pretty attentive, but wait time was longer than expected and food was just okay. read more

A lot of the one and two star reviews on here are pretty ridiculous, so I'm taking the time to give 5 in protest. This place is a solid option but may not wow you. Fantastic Thai food! Flavorful quality ingredients. Went there with my vegan fiance who loves Thai-spicy food, and he left happy, too. I couldn't even eat the dish he ordered because it was way too spicy for me, so if you like it hot this place is for you!
