Wish I'd tried this place sooner! The ambiance is 10/10 -- the restaurant is in an old train car and is surrounded by railroad tracks. I'm no Thai food connoisseur, but I really enjoyed my panang curry! It had coconut milk, Thai red chili paste, and bell peppers (I added tofu and vegetables). It was spicy but delicious. Also pictured here are a couple of my friends' dishes (pad Thai with vegetables and drunken noodles with vegetables). I remember them saying that they enjoyed their dishes but would've preferred more sauce, especially for the drunken noodles. This place is vegetarian/vegan friendly. I ordered two items for take out at 7p and was told it would be an hour. I got there a bit early and saw a bag of food with a coat lying over it but no one to greet me. After nearly ten minutes sitting there, I flagged down waitress and she told someone would help me. A woman arrives, removed a coat, closes and staples the bag and charges me for the food. I asked her if anyone attends the front, to which she responded "we are all in back rolling napkins", I explained I've been waiting ten minutes and she didn't even respond to me. When I got the bag open, there was no silverware, napkins, or soy sauce. The panang curry was decent, but the pad Thai was dry and unflavorful. Overall, the experience from start to finish was awful and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

We came when they were pretty busy but we're still seated quickly. Overall flavors were good but when we asked for medium spicy, the food was not spicy at all. Maybe they mixed up the spice level on the order? Unfortunately they were out of few of the things we were looking for (fried tofu, duck) so my party ended up getting other dishes. The interior is really cute and the waitstaff's outfits really match the theme of the restaurant. Service was a bit slow but I believe they are understaffed at this time. Would recommend if you have a bit of time to hang out and enjoy the decorations! But if you're on a time crunch, consider doing pick up instead. read more

We ate here twice. The first time it was nice. The wait staff is friendly and food was good. Second time there was a piece of plastic in my dish. I mentioned it to the wait staff. She was apologetic and told me we wouldn't be charged for the dish. When I got my bill they did not remove the charge for the plastic filled food. I spoke to the owner who was RUDE and COMBATIVE and did not apologize once. To the owner: Please work on your customer service skills or get out of a business that requires those. I'm in love with Thai Station! This spot was so sad while it sat empty. It's such a gorgeous historical space with the trolley cars and greenhouse like interior. Thai Stations gorgeous interior decorating has truly done it justice. The decor is so light, airy, fresh, and relaxing - but somehow perfect for all seasons. The serving staff was so kind and friendly and did such a great job. The food was so great! If you've ever wanted a crab Rangoon and an egg roll to have a baby, you're in luck - they have that here! So good! I think it was reasonably priced for the area. But wow, we loved the cashew curry! We will definitely back to partake in these excellent and flavorful dishes. read more

Glass noodle salad was delicious, light yet also satisfying, and refreshing. There was also a little hot kick to it--really, it was barely spicy, but it still contained a nice tiny kick. Pad see ew and house duck noodle soup were great. The pad see ew was very flavorful and incredibly filling. The noodle soup was very rich and tasty, and the duck meat portion was generous. Fried tofu was meh, pretty bland. None of us were impressed by that dish. My sister's boyfriend also had Thai chicken wings and wasn't particularly impressed with them either. This place is good, but it just slightly underperforms to be a 5-star. The food is good, but not exceptional. The spring rolls (fresh rolls) were a little disappointing, but the crab rolls exceeded expectations. The drunken noodles were great while the pad thai could have been a little better. That being said, the food is a little hit or miss. I can see how some people would love it, but I've had better thai food elsewhere. I have been getting reliable Thai takeout from here all of last year through the pandemic, and noticed I hadn't reviewed it yet! Grateful this place exists for my Thai cravings after long work days :) They also deliver locally which is great!! It has been a solid addition to the existing Thai restaurants in the area, and likely the best one in Chapel Hill/Carrboro (second to Bua Thai in Durham). Their Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mow dishes are great! I also love all their soups. There is an option to substitute tofu in everything including their soups, and it's delicious! They have a variety of fusion type dishes - Thai macaroni, etc. which are also very flavorful. The only thing I would add is that maybe their spice levels are a bit up a notch up from the standard. For instance, I always do well with Medium spicy, but it is definitely spicier here than at other restaurants. It works well with the noodle dishes, but watch out - your Tom Kha soup (which is delicious!!) can be super spicy if it is made to a Medium level. Would recommend for dine in (looks super cute, but have yet to eat in the restaurant) or take out! read more

This is a very cool place! Being seated inside the train cars is neat but I also love their patio seating. Great service, and the food is always delicious. Stopped in for lunch and we had a great experience. The restaurant is housed in two old train cars connected by a main building in the old Carrboro train station. We were seated immediately. The menu is about what you'd expect from a regular Thai restaurant, which is exactly what we were looking for. Most dishes come with your choice of protein, which works well for two tofu-loving vegetarians. I had cashew-nut curry and my companion had mixed veggies with tofu. There is a small beer and wine menu, but we easily found something to suit. The vegetables were fresh and still had a little crunch to them, which I love. The tofu was semi-crispy, again suiting my tastes well. The sauce was light and may have been a little salty for me, but not too much. In brief, we'll be back. read more

Unsure if our server had ever served before. We sat for 40 minutes and he did not come around a single time to serve us. Halfway through waiting, he told us he would be right back and apologized for taking so long, but then just never came back. He ignored every single table in our section and only seemed to know how to deal with the other few tables that he had. While I understand being busy and normally have the patience to deal with slow service, it was actually ridiculous how terrible the service was. I got the mixed vegetable in garlic sauce and jasmine rice. I got a medium spicy and it was perfect. My husband got the green curry with chicken on a hot spicy level. We've visited here a few different times and had to wait for our food 45+ minutes after ordering. The staff is not super friendly and is not very attentive. However, the food served during the lunch hours is fantastic for the price! The tofu served here is amazing, it's got a nice crunch and flavor. I am not a vegetarian and I prefer that over chicken here! The Pad Thai and the Panang Curry are two of our favorites! Atmosphere was really nice as we sat outside but all the booths in the rail cars inside look cozy & have nice windows. We had fresh rolls, tom kha soup that was full of mushrooms. Entrees were the massaman curry & cashew nut chicken. All excellent! One detail I was not crazy about the texture of the chicken in the cashew nut dish. It was like it was flash fried instead of stir fried so it was a overcooked & tough for my taste. Overall the dish was flavored well & I especially liked all 3 colors of bell pepper.
